Thats not from him. I've seen it before but dont know why its there.

That has to do with the Cockpit_D0 MSH file in each plane folder,if you open them up with notepad and look at the materials section you'll see an entry called NOSEART.What it's there for I have no Idea, someone need to take the MSH files and delete that out and save it back to a MSH file and I think the problem would be solved.

Thanks 101tfs :)
Wondering why this noseart is permanently attached to all the skins now?

One more thing that I have corrected in several packages and releases but reappears: the guy in the first sky-bubble only exceptionally showed up there, and he was there more to check the status of the engines and wings. It wasn't a fixed position, on the contray.

Thank you in advance.

I did not have the overlay9 file as well; but easy to fix:
First make adjustment in Cockpit_D0.msh file as ranwers described (file can be edited with notepad)

Next; in the 3do/plane/b29 folders create a text file and put in there:

[ClassInfo]
  ClassName TMaterial
  BasedOn Overlay1.mat
[Layer0]
  TextureName ..\TEXTURES\null.tga

Now save the file as overlay9.mat and you are done.

Maybe asking the obvious, but is it possible you have another B29 mod (Silverplate?) mod that loads before this one?
Title: Re: B-29 Fix
Post by: hello on July 16, 2014, 02:16:37 PM
to fix this: replace ALL occurrences of NOSEART (3 in total) in the Cockpit_D0.msh file with overlay9.

Just wanted to add this:

Make sure these fixes load before any other B29 mod, but after the wheels mod.

OK, what am I missing here?
Looks like I only got half a door on my nose wheel, it has been pulled back from its normal place. See picture.
I just checked again and I see that some cockpit windows on the side of the pilots are also out of place. They have been pushed in.

You guys get this problem?

OK, Ok, I solved the problem.
I had PA_Jeronimos new wheels mod.

Here is the tip that Moderators should place in the first post of this new download... (To help newbies like me)  ;D

1 - If you have PA_Jeronimo New wheels mod , Go to that folder (it is also named "#_Nuevo Mod de Ruedas") and
place a "-" (Minus sign) on the two folders that are named -B-29(Multi1) and -B-29(USA)
You can leave the folder named B-29SP alone , because that is for the other mod-airplane B-29 Silver-Plate, which is the Atomic-bomber version.

2 - Then place this new B-29 Mod 3D-fix anywhere you wish in your Mod game folder (DBW or whatever mod-version your using).
In my case I have the airplane folder re-named "AIRCRAFT_B-29_3d_fix"
just so I can have all my airplane mods neatly placed in an AIRCRAFT_name__  List

Mighty fine new 3d-fixes guys!
Thank you so much 101tfs!
All my old skins fit very nice on this new version too. No need for major changes in painting new skins.

must say, i've always considered the B29 as a rather 'unfinished' looking plane in IL2, but this makes it look so much better, i'm actually keen to use it again.
amazing what a little face-lift can do, lol :D

The problem of the New Mod Wheels can be solved easily by adding the corresponding lines in the Hier.him file, you can see in the image below, although the wheels that come by default in the Mod have nothing to envy that I made for this model in the New Mod Wheels.

Title: Re: B-29 new Fix by Birdman
Post by: Birdman on February 13, 2015, 08:06:55 AM
Hello!

Unfortunately, 101tfs released my fix as new stand-alone version although it only includes files modified by me. Thus, my fix doesn't work without hier.him, textures and some other files from original release that's no longer available. Anyway, I'll try to release it properly in this post.

Here's a stand-alone 3D fix for B-29 that should work: http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/3D_B29%20v2.7z (http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/3D_B29%20v2.7z)
This one is really second version of B-29 3D update by 101tfs with PA_Jeronimo's wheels and all my fixes included in one package. You can install this one as a new mod and disable/remove old version to easily get all these external 3D updates.

Then the other download http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/3D_B29_fix.7z (http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/3D_B29_fix.7z) is my fix patch that can be installed on previous version of B-29 3D update by 101tfs. This should update v1 to v2 if you have previous v1 with PA_Jeronimo's wheel update already. You can enable Gear1 meshes in this patch if you want wheels of 101tfs' version instead of latest PA_Jeronimo's wheels. This patch is very useful if you have modified your hier.him for some other reason than adding PA_Jeronimo's wheels.

Credits:
- 101tfs: 3D model rework
- PA_Jeronimo: landing gear 3D update
- Birdman: fixing LOD values back to original ones, adding modified original LODs back to some small parts, adding back non-USA markings overlays, old LOD1 CF shadow fix and small smoothing fix under nose

I hope you enjoy this 3D update more now with less bugs.
- Birdman

realisticly would have been 3421... you allways start inboard engines first for safety of ground crew... anyways why not just hit your engine selection switches in that order?

After installing this mod, into my HSFX 7 */Files/3do/planes folder via the JSGME I had two anomalies.
1. The right nose gear door was now place aft of the nose wheel well, which I was able to correct with PA_Jeronimo B-29 Fix wheels for 101tfs Mod here (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,34533.msg469750.html#msg469750).

2. And this I don't understand, the "B-29 Silver Plates" (but, not the B-29) had the Nose Art Bug" (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,41721.msg469423.html#msg469423) again (note; this is a fault with the HFSX B-29SP).
Was able to correct this by taking the "Cockpit_D0.msh" file (one file only) from the  "Boeing B-29 Silverplate Atomic Bomber (v1.2) Mod" by SAS~Magpie, located here (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,7894.msg468885.html#msg468885) and installing it into the *\IL-2 Sturmovil 1946 HSFX7\Files\3do\Plane\B-29-SP(Multi1) folder, and then copying the "Overlay9.mat" file from the new *\IL-2 Sturmovil 1946 HSFX7\Files\3do\Plane\B-29(Multi1) into the *\B-29-SP(Multi1) folder. Don't know if the last step ("Overlay9.mat" file) was necessary, but did this at the same time as installing the "Cockpit_D0.msh" file, and it works.
A word of caution, the "Cockpit_D0.msh" file from the new *\B-29(Multi1) folder will not look correct as the cockpit window are different from the B-29 to the B-29SP. Have to use the the one from Silverplate Atomic Bomber (v1.2) Mod.

3. Then to upgrade the blockie engines of the B-29SP, took the engine and prop files from the new *\B-29(Multi1) folder and copied them into the *\B-29-SP(Multi1) folder.

Now all the B-29's look much better!!
