Title: Dirty Old 75 Gallon Drop Tank
Post by: SAS~Malone on May 31, 2014, 05:59:13 AM
i did this little reskin for myself, 'cause i like the dirty, rusted, weathered look that i've seen on a few old pictures.
thought i'd share it, attached below, if anyone might be interested. ;)

I think they never get rusty because they only one time used ;)

yes, i did consider that while i was painting it, lol. :D
for my scenarios, my tough little group of pilots are stuck far behind enemy lines with no supplies, so they must make do.
anyway, it is what it is.  use, don't use, your call  ;)

Take a look at some of 112Sqn's Kitties, some landed back with it, out of the flightbooks
not every Mission was intended to to meet enemy action/drop it. Recce Missions took place very often, if no enemy was met they brought it home,
some even crashed with it, funnily revealing a sandwiched droptank. Others looked pretty dirty, while being prepared for pre-flight,
then I would dare to call Malone's a somewhat factory fresh example.

You could also make it " muddy " . I'm sure they got muddy on take off from grass fields. :)

Very nice looking tank!! I'll definitely use it! ...but if I get rust in my fuel, and consequently in the engine... I'll just send you the bill for the rebuild...  ;D
