Title: New update next week
Post by: LuseKofte on November 22, 2013, 11:25:53 AM
And we got the 109 and later AI planes. Still no weapons .

For those eager to fly an easier plane you have to wait longer. The 109 suppose to be worser, Its narrow gears and other design faults are modeled into it. So it is kind of harder to get the hang on thatn the LAGG :D Love this, this might be even better than I hoped it would

I knew the Soviet Union would eventually run out of Laggs to fly at the rate I was wrecking them!

At least Lavotchkin invented the indestructable prop, that's something after all.

Kind of not finnished at all product, but I am reliefed. I said earlyer that this would not be a useful game until late next year. As it is reported it seems to me being realistic. And that is all I wanted of this game, a good gameengine with challanging flight models, that is the resepy for a sim you will not be fed up with in a short time

Fully agree, it's got a taste of "wanna have!", but I'll wait until it's price settled.
CloD was 9.99 bucks here and it wasn't worth a penny of it, so BOS has to recover this.

Yes, BOS will not go away so moneywise  and gamewise you will not loose anything by getting the game in about a year from now.
I personally enjoy clod every day when home so I disagree on that other statement, it run smooth on my rig and I could not live without it.

Oh yes it does, though I don't want to turn this into a CloD discussion thread let me just add that with the latest official patch CloD runs smoothly on my rig as well, I just figured that I can't enjoy that game, it doesn't give that additional amount of realism over IL-2 that I would have expected (in contrast to BOS I hope), just some eye candy, but it puts you into the "BoB only" box with even further limitations regarding flyable planes. To put it simple it became boring to me within a couple of days. Every time I'm launching Steam (to play Red Orchestra when I'm in the mood) I'm surprised to see for how long I didn't even think of playing CloD anymore. Currently the last time I played CloD dates of march this year.

Bottom line is that I get the feeling that BOS is much more promising and could indeed become IL-2's successor one day, maybe even start a sequel similar to what we have now. I'd be the icing on the cake if 777 studios would consider to provide some kind of modding possibility (doesn't necessarily have to be a full feature SDK as it has been promised but never delivered for CloD, just "opening the gates" like in IL-2 would be sufficient), but that'd be step 2 after creating a successful base game first.

Best regards - Mike

I know what you meant, just kind of giving my point into it. And I agree, BOS sure looks like it going to be the true sim after IL 2 but it depend of the funding and interest. 777 need the interest since ROF society is going down

Go get it, 109 is now live for download.  Early reports say she is a dream to fly.

Mods are available for ROF and it is said it will be the same for BOS from the outset. You have a 'MODS ON/OFF button' so no need for mod activator in vanilla game

There are infantry, vehicles, horses, AI mods, gunner mods, texture mods, cloud mods etc.etc. some of these supported on official mod page at ROF site, modding is encouraged and one mod map "island"has been incorporated into official patch.

This bodes well for future as WWII has more interest than ROF/WWI there is already rumours/discussions of a mod map being made by Russian community for BOS even at this early state  :D

As an aside I am very impressed how the Alpha is working, easy download and activation no CTD's and runs locked at 60fps on high settings smooth as butter and VERY convincing nice feeling of flight/ground handling so far. I have to say at this stage it has really exceed my expectations! and they were quite high.
Here's hoping for a worthy successor to IL-2 at release in 5-6 months

Cheers Dakpilot

I ll get mine at regular price... dont care if 50 or 60 bucks.
have all the IL-2 Disks too, and that amounts to some 100-120.
If a product is serious,  Imma Happy to lay down some serious Cash.
Havent done much in 2013, but ten years of Software and updates for 120  Eggs...
ROI has been the best i ever saw - ridiculously high.

True-To my eye cosmetically one of the prettiest best modeled plane to come down the pike. The views in and around the cockpit are the best in any 109 that I have seen.
