I agree Lanius
I find the D VII fast with a great rate of climb, however any rapid movement of the stick / rudder bar ( especially turning against prop torque ) has my engine misfiring and gasping for fuel...... ???

Most peculiar

Cheers

These are the notes and instructions which were written by the builders of the three full-size replica Fokker D.VIIs used in the movie The Blue Max. I republished them from use by F.A.C. (Fighting Air Command) pilots who checked out in the planes in the mid-1980s, when they were based at Hartlee Field, Denton, Texas.

Publication HBD/EAR.12                       ROUSSEAU AVIATION
                                             Aeroport de Dinard
Issue Two.                                   DINARD      FRANCE

NOTE:  This publication has been reprinted by the Fighting Air
Command, the current owners and operators of the three Fokker
D.VII replica aircraft built by Rousseau Aviation for the film
The Blue Max.  Some information contained in the original
publication and this reprint may not be correct for the aircraft
in their current configuration.  Pilots should consult the F.A.C.
pilot's notes for these aircraft.

The Fokker D.VII is a single bay staggered sesquiplane and was
designed as a single seat fighter for the German Air Force during
1918.

The Fokker D.VII-65 is a modern copy of the original D.VII.  This
version suffixed 65, has been produced by Rousseau Aviation at
Ateliers Aeronautiques de la Cote d'Emeraude, Dinard Airport,
France.

The design has been undertaken on the basis of being a copy of
the genuine Fokker D.VII housed in the French Musee de l'Air at
Chalais Meudon, this example being one actually captured in
flying condition during 1918.

Following a detailed examination and investigation of the
original aircraft and a study of various records and tests
conducted by official bodies a full and up to date stress
analysis has been undertaken to check the validity of the
original design.  Following preparation of a Type REcord it has
been possible to submit the aircraft to the French airworthiness
authorities who have issued a Special Certificate of
Airworthiness in the Utiltiy Category.

The basis of Design Declaration has been the requirements of the
French Norme AIR 2052.  A Type Certificate has been issued.

Except in respect of the engine installation the 65 version is a
true structural copy of the original type.  In order to meet
customer requirements the aircraft has been fitted with modern
instruments calibrated in English, a V.H.F. radio has been
installed and the engine installation is changed from the
original Mercedes to a deHavilland Gipsy Queen 3A fitted with a
Fairey Reed metal propeller.

Flight test conducted by the manufacturer and by test pilots of
the French Centre d'essais en vol, the official flight test
centre in France, have shown the aircraft to have exceptionally
good handling characteristics.  Tests have included stalling and
spinning and six turn spins to the right and left have been
conducted successfully.

The behaviour in flight conforms generally to modern requirements
except that no stall warning device is fitted.  The stalling
characteristics are docile and straightforward with a gentle nose
drop and rapid recovery at the stall.

Fuselage

The fuselage structure is a jig built welded assembly in steel
tubing.  The engine bearers and forward fuselage structure which
includes Port and Starboard top mainplane attachment tripods are
integrally welded and have no means of rigging adjustment.  Aft
of the fuel tank bay the structure is formed of a series of
quadrilateral bays with a quarter ring welded into the nodal
points.  The quarter rings are disposed in the transverse plane
and are used to accomodate the piano wire bracing of the rear
fuselage.  Each side bay of the fuselage is braced diagonally in
side elevation by a piano wire loop passing over the quarter ring
in opposite corners and being tensioned by a turnbuckle.  Each
bay in front elevation is braced in similar manner.

The rectangular section of the fuselage structure is varied by
the addition of a low curved turtledeck, forward of the cockpit
this decking is made in light alloy sheet while aft of the
cockpit shape is provided by a light plywood skin stiffened by
stringers and attached to welded metal clips on the top
transverse members.

The sternpost is blocked by a spindled wooden member.

Before covering the structure is etch primed with two coats of
sprayed Celomer P.50 primer and in addition all tubes in the
cockpit and forward are sprayed with a grey cellulose finishing
coat.

Heavy grade linen fabric is applied to the fuselage being
cemented to a longitudinal tape wrapping of the longerons and
boundary members.  The fabric is doped with red oxide dope with a
sprayed silver sealing coat after which the camouflage paint
scheme is sprayed.

Access to the interior of the rear fuselage is provided by a
laced up seam running along the ventral centre line of the
fuselage.

Undercarriage

The undercarriage consists of two steel tube vee members with
ball and socket attachments to the fuselage.  At the lower end of
each vee the axle beam is fitted.  The axle beam is a steel box
structure through which the wheel axle proper is threaded and
held in place by rubber cord so that when load is applied the
axle moves vertically inside the beam straining against the
rubber cord attached to the beam and passing over the axle.

The whole structure is braced against sideways loading by two
crossed cables, tensioned by turnbuckles, across the forward bay.

Wire braced wheels with high pressure smooth tyres run on plain
bronze bearings.

A large aerofoil section fairing, made of light alloy sheet, is
fitted over the axle box.

The tailskid is a laminated beach wooden member of club shape.
It is pivotted to allow vertical movement of the cup shaped steel
skid shoe and at the forward end, inside the fuselage, attaches
to two steel tension springs which absorb the landing loads.  A
check cable is fitted to prevent over travel and a light return
spring is also fitted.  The tailskid pivot is a "U" section
fitting with a plug type attachment to the sternpost.

Empennage

The empennage, with the exception of one member in the fin
structure is manufactured entirely in metal tubing.

Each member is welded in place.

The fin is a simple triangle with the base rib being in wood.
The fin spar tube provides a hinge bearing attachment for the
rudder.

The rudder consists of a vertical tube with light section steel
tube welded to it to form simple ribs, the boundary member
forming the trailing edge is also in light section tube.  The
spar tube is bronze faced at the hinge points and a steel wrapper
strip picking up on to the fin provides a hinge at each hinge
point.

The tailplane has a spanwise spar tube at the elevator hinge line
and two heavy section tubes are swept forward from the tips to
the front fuselage attachment.  Small diameter tubes are welded
to form simple ribs and are brought together at a steel tube
leading edge member.

The Aerodynamically balanced elevators are of similar
construction with a continuous tube forming the mainspar and
hinge bearing surfaces.  Two control king posts are welded to the
elevator spar.

The whole empennage is fabric covered with the rib to fabric
attachments being strung through.

Mainplanes

The mainplanes are of entirely wooden construction.  Each
mainplane is composed of two box spars tapering in both forward
elevation and plan view.  Simple I section ribs consisting of a
gaboon ply web flanged on each sides with spruce or poplar strips
are threaded over the spars.  The leading edges are gaboon ply
covered the ply being spliced spanwise on the heavy section
leading edge member.  Tip bends are in heavy section spruce
laminations.  The trailing edge is formed of a ply strip on both
top and bottom surfaces and glued to a poplar or spruce spanwise
trailing edge member.  To imitate the wire trailing edge used
originally the trailing edge is shaped to a scalloped pattern.

Both mainplanes are of parallel chord and are of full span one
piece construction.  The spars are plan braced with heavy gauge
piano wire from the root ribs to a point adjacent to the
interplane "N" struts.  The top mainplane is fitted with an
auxiliary spar which serves to carry the aileron hinges, this
spar is not full span.  Attachment brackets to the fuselage are
substantial "U" section brackets bent up from sheet steel, these
have a single bolt pick up at each main fuselage fitting of which
there are four.  Smaller "U" brackets are fitted outboard to
accomodate the ends of the interplane bacing "N" struts.

The whole structure is fabric covered with heavy grade linen
fabric doped with red oxide dope.  Rib stringing is standard with
subsequent taping.  The mainplanes are then painted with a heavy
coat of silver dope as anti-actinic protection before the
application of the final paint scheme.

There is no external bracing wires to the mainplanes which are in
fact cantilever structures.

Ailerons are fitted to the top plane only and are steel tube
welded construction.  No mass balance is fitted byt large area
aerodynamic balance surfaces are fitted at the ouboard tups.  In
plan view the ailerons have an inverse taper.  Hinge bracket
wrapper plates of "U" section pick up at each point by two bolts
on to the false spar of the mainplane.  As in other control
hinges the spars are built up by brazing and machined to form
hinge surfaces.

Maintenance of the airframe structure is simple being in general
confined to regular inspeciton of welded joints at appropriate
intervals, rectification of corrosion as may become apparent, and
making good any damage to doped fabric.

Awesome plane to all involved! It's fast and maneuverable!

My first day flying the Fokker D VIIf on the front:

At about 5000 ft we spotted enemy Sopwith fighters approaching the line. Signaling, and then leaving my flight, I killed a Snipe in a crazy 1 against 4 head on and damaged a second one!  ;D I was sisoring like mad with a third, while my fellows handled the fourth, when the crazy Brit got too close and we collided. My tail sheared away first, and I leapt from my striken craft, as the damaged Sopwith spun crazily into a field bellow.

I do have the slight twitching mentioned  by others but it's bearable for the joy of flying such a lovely machine! Thanks so much to all involved! And a perfect selection of included skins!

DBW in 1916, all aircraft with the wrong FM, many of the wrong weapons but all is acceptable until the Fokker D-7.
Title: Re: Fokker D VII/DVIIF
Post by: vpmedia on November 19, 2013, 09:03:29 PM
Murdoc, youre right, in fact somebody could go over the entire DBW-1916 planeset and make all the FM's compatible. I've been trying to find a full time FM expert since the beginning, because I'm aware of the problems (DH.2, Nieuport.11, bombers, etc). Currently quite a few planes got ww2 era flight models/slots vs the AMT and other releases which have correct ww1 FM. The Fokker D.VII FM is not that bad, you only need to watch your max speed.

honestly, it did feel better...maybe just a placebo effect

anyway, if I avoid overspeeding it works fine, but I agree its a bit of a challenge to score kills with it

If I remember right from the old AAA days when they where developing CK for IL2,they had dropped that CK2009 FM done by Hunan in favor of the SE5's FM by Mr. Jolly because many of them thought it was the worst FM ever made for IL2.Perhaps the CK2009 FM can be dropped here also and reverted to the SE5's FM,I don't know I'm just spit balling ideas and throwing them out there.Although I love this mod it sure is sad to see such a great plane and great mod with such bad flight features.I hope it can be fixed.

I think that, for whatever reason, this mod is greatly affected by whatever the state of the user's in stall is.
Those who are running the latest DBW with VP Media's latest patch might have a fine FM, while those with a custom install might be experiencing the glitchy FM or, in my and Gunny's case, a plane which simply does not work. Conflicts with certain mods perhaps?

I had the same issue with late-war BF 109s in my DBW install; they would not show on QMB (even though I could select them) and disabling a mod I had installed (German Pilots) fixed it totally. I'm thinking what Gunny and I are experiencing is the same sort of conflict.

However, there was as aviaskins, talkers and dreamers much, and do not wait for the real help from anyone. Even do something for such do not hunt, do not do all the same nagging will.

Obviously we as the general public mean no disrespect when we ask for alterations to certain parts of the mod. Its just that most of us do not have the know-how to improve upon the great mods that the talented artists here at SAS and Aviaskins (and AAS) put out. I can understand why one might be annoyed by such 'nagging', but really we are all most appreciative and thankful for all of your efforts. If I had the know-how to fix up this kite's FM I certainly would  :)

The fact is that there is no one to make slots and FM, there are no experts. And the advice I too am able to give, let's just stick to our realities and to work constructively. And a little more patience, and then everything will be modern.

(Delo v tom, chto nekomu delat' sloty i FM, net spetsialistov. A sovety ya tozhe umeyu davat', tol'ko davayte priderzhivat'sya nashikh realiy i rabotat' konstruktivno. I yeshche nemnogo terpeniya i togda sovremenen vse budet.)

I agree with Murdoc.

Lets follow the age old rule: don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Fixes will come sooner or later.

yeah I agree, it's great as it is for now.

we've waited a long time to see this thing over the Somme, and I know at least that I have had lots of fun with it already!  :)

Mike, has long been no secret, there is some caution.
Suppose that a person can not make a "secret" package, but who prevents to work with formulas and offer their own versions?

PS
The reality is that I can not do serious things, such as supersonic.
But on other issues I can help the community, but the inquiries so much that many of us, the ones who make the slots and FM simply do not have time to conduct test flights, to say nothing that would just fly for fun. )))

Be patient guys, for some time we flight the "horrendous" franken planes and now we have the "real" things. Be calm and relax !!! The modders team have a hard work to do. Congratulations and thanks to
all modders for your interest to an better and better simulator day by day . Sorry for my bad english.

   Cheers   ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

If God build the world in 6 days....a modder can take longer....moreover God have no RL issue when doing it!

Looking forward to getting this to work, but so far even with it installed I get no loadout on the QMB screen or a 60% CTD, whatever I try. That included // the SED Longnose Franken DVII. So it's a case of waiting patiently for the full patch, I guess. I appreciate all the work that goes in to mods, so no carping from me!

Maybe you are removing the FM CK2009? This can not be done. There is FM for aircraft Snipe.

Nope, that's not what I'm doing. The nearest it came to loading resulted in the "no cockpit" phenomenon with the horizontally split sky and blank screen.

Oldschoolie, what kind of mod setup are you using?

Btw, try to press Shift+Tab when no cockpit being loaded and read the error message about the missing files or java problem.

Thanks for that suggestion. BTW I'm on DBW 1.71 latest updates but it may be that something in the nature of a subsequently added aircraft is clashing. Anyway I'm jst about to try the latest 1916 patch...
Title: Re: Fokker D VII/DVIIF

Works in DBW1,71 after adding some missing weapons/  bombs  ;

I transferred   two files  from DBW1916 to make it work:  #00_DK_WW1_aircraft_arms_update
                                                                                             #00_DK_WW1_Guns_n_Bombs
update: I narrowed it down to these two class files needed:  1344BD8CD88CB944 of 19/03/2103 at 8:07AM (DVIIF)
                                                                                  and CA8CC054ACA5FAD4 of 19/03/2013 at 8:06AM (DVII).

where are they?  in:    http://www.vpmedia.eu/il2/zip/DBW1916_patch6.7z

ATTENTION:    both files 1344BD8CD88CB944 and CA8CC054ACA5FAD4 affect armament of D-VII/F.
both files are included in #00_DK_WW1_aircraft_arms_update since patch6 without the presence of any D-VII.
both files also exist in newer form/versions within D-VII mod, or DVII patch9 mod.
in DBW1916 environment it is the  #00_DK_WW1_aircraft_arms_update's older files that are in use.

Modes with FM for Fokker D-VII / D-VIIF, fixed flight model changes made ??in classes and hier.
Extract to DWB, fashion, etc. , Agree with the replacement (pre-reserve replacement files).
Worked on the mod:
Kant-FM
Molva - FM, editing classes and file hier.

Gratitude gio963tto and Skipper for the original mod Fokker D-VII.

P.S. aircraft was inclined to start at full throttle to "nosing", so be careful and take the wheel itself when taxiing.

BE ADVISED that patch 10 was first released on18th December With/Out the new FM in it.

Late 19th December, patch 10 was re-uploaded by vpmedia with the new FokkerD7_FM ( = for 410 ) as now being integral part of it.  8)

thanks Kant.
landing to full stop is difficult: because tail bounces more and more as ground speed reaches near and nearer to zero.
result: a nose down-crash-stop becomes most inevitable.. hope this helps !

Can you make tail sticky to the ground at near zero speed ?
Or make tail bouncing less and less as speed decrease ?

The fact that this problem is caused by incorrectly 3d, can correct the error by Fokker, changing the position of the hooks

OK - I found a way to land and park with this FM (patch10).

1- downgrade engine to magneto 1 on approach. This setting wont be changed unless you restart the engine.
This setting will prevent the autopilot from taking-off.
2- land as usual and, after a short run, turn towards parking spot.
3- as tail start to bounce, engage the autopilot; it will bring the aircraft to full stop, engine running, on magneto1.
4- When stopped, autopilot will bounce the tail slightly; disengage the autopilot to achieve full immobility.
5- You may park there, or taxi to a new place: use 55% power on magneto1, then reduce power to maintain low speed.
( note sometimes brakes are locked; touch brakes to unlock... )
6- If speed becomes too high, the tail will start to bounce again:  repeat the procedure urgently.

Have a nice flight !  :)                                   You may try to view this n-track: http://www.mediafire.com/download/0qiuolokjt9n6m0/DVII_DemoRTB2.zip

Hi DreamK!

Whats the method used for changing these hooks?
Do I edit the 3do\Plane\Fokker_D_VII\hier.him file?
For example the BE2c leaks fuel from the middle of its wing wires, how do I find/identify and move that hook?
How do I know which hook(s) causes the D.VII's lowrider behaviour?

Cheers
Istvan
Title: Re: Fokker D VII/DVIIF
Post by: Dreamk on December 23, 2013, 03:23:21 PM
Istvan Hi! You must edit the xyz coordonates (the 3 last numbers in the corresponding line in the [HookLoc] paragraph) in the mesh to which the hooks are attached - for instance the gear hooks are generally attached to meshes GearR2_D0 GearL2_D0 and GearC2_D0
Fuel tanks are collisions not hooks and are best dealt with at the level of the 3d model and then re-exported, instead of trying to manually edit the mesh.
Title: Re: Fokker D VII/DVIIF
Post by: vpmedia on January 05, 2014, 12:46:14 AM
I finally got around to solve this problem, it was in GearC2_D0.msh, new hook coordinates fixed it:

[Hooks]
_ClipCGear <BASE>

[HookLoc]
//1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 -0.00528 0.1678 -0.112
  1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0.0 -0.1 0.0

no more tail bounce for the D.VII :)

The same fix doesnt work for an another plane. I dont own 3ds max so I can only adjust hooks by trial and error which is very difficult to do with invisible things like a gear hook. So i started to think and figured out a good trick: I place the wingtip smoke hook instead of the gear hook in the problematic mesh that way you can see the position while adjusting. I'm gonna see what I can do for the Farmans.

you must have patience and not behave like a child from whom his favourite toy was taken

currently theres only Kant who is capable to work on FM's but he's already doing a great job by releasing a tons of new projects, you did surely notice those

when i see that he has some time then I'll obliviously ask him to add more power to the D.7, I'm not blind and I can see the problems if theyre present but its not like that I can snap my fingers and everything  is solved

remember this is a hobby project managed by only a few individuals and we are not under time pressure

I don't know about you but I'd have absolutley no idea how to make an a/c, so I'm happy to sit and wait for Vp, Kant & the 1916 crew to work their magic  ;D
BTW, my comment above about the D.VII was just an observation not a criticism.....in fact, don't rush on my behalf, as I'm one of those WIERDOS who that think the Fokker D.VII is a little too FAST and RACY  ???
I'll stick to the superb Farman family and if I want to scare myself I'll take Kant's new souped up BE2c for a spin round the airfield  :D :D :D

It was the air force of the soviet Hungarian revolutionary government led by Béla Kun in 1919. The acronym should stand for "Magyar Altalanos Gepgyar" the Hungarian industry that produced on license the Fokker with Austro Daimler engine. I suppose. I'm sorry if I transcribed incorrectly the company name.

Calling all Fokker D.VII pilots! ...

Here are some NEW motor and interior skins for your aircraft (Version 2).
Thank you for the 100+ downloads you guys and gals have made, but please take a look at these new ones...

FREE DOWNLOAD ---> http://www.mediafire.com/download/k7fig93cq1eff5m/Fokker_D.VII_Motor_and_Cockpit_NEW_version.zip

These skins are a little different from the previous cockpit and motor skins I posted a few days ago.
The interior now has the proper type of pilot seat as was on this aircraft and I have made some
other correct detail changes and colors tweaks.

Let us face the facts, there is not much more details I can paint on these skins due to the
size limitations (pixel sizes) and the way the model is constructed.
It may never be as real as those ROF-game aircraft, but this is a fun airplane to
fly and above all - it is FREE!

So enjoy it!
Flying is an adventure in any airplane!

...

Just copy these folders files and paste over (over writing) the old skin files in your DBW-1916 game.
If you wish to keep the old skins, just put a "-" (Minus sign) in front
of the original skin-name and the game will not read or use them.

Inside are 2 skin files which will give your new Fokker D.VII a new motor
with more realistic looking skin-parts and also the interior details for the cockpit.

Enjoy and have a great flight.
Cheers
MAX

Interesting.......
You don't mention which model you're flying
Tested the stock D VII and flying it on the edge of stalling (120kph) spawned at 1000m, took 30 minutes to achieve just over 4000m and was having problems staying aloft

(https://s2.postimg.cc/efw0qu7ix/2017.12.16_06-29-43.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/vgewzikk5/)

Tested D VIIF   and flying it on the edge of stalling (120kph) spawned at 1000m took 23 minutes to achieve  6377m and seemed happy to continue

(https://s2.postimg.cc/6adysptkp/2017.12.16_06-52-55.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/6n5cywbud/)

The highest I got in a D VIIF was 7487m after what felt like an AGE of fighting stalls.....

(https://s2.postimg.cc/d0ug29r21/2017.12.14_20-30-24.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/co31w38s5/)

May I ask what's your interest in high altitude Fokker D VII /F flying ?

You have no camera, it's BLOODY COLD and you'll find no Tommies up there  :))

Cheers

Hello Alfie, thanks a lot for your reply...oh yes, it was just a curiosity because WWI dogfights were done at low altitude but compared with other aircraft (such as Camel, DrI, Nieuports or others) I find that my DVII/DVIIF (both models) have difficulty in reaching altitudes above 3000 meters and staying at that altitude. They seems to have problems to the motor.
I have CUP and my DVII/DVIIF are default.
Maybe I lost some uptade.
I see that your DVIIF can reach without any problems high altidude but not for the DVII (if I understand well...).
However, flying at high altitude allowed to reach the theatre of combat/dogfight avoiding for a certain stretch of the route the flak that wasn't so accurate at that time.
I've been looking for some updates in aviaskins forum, in SAS forum and so on, but I lost the way to understand something about my DVII/DVIIF versions by CUP and what could I do to solve my issue.
Bye,
Poiana

Items 6 & 7 from the bottom.......Storbror's  fix has transformed the D VII  8) and has bombed up the older and more frail a/c  8) 8)

Mate, it's suddenly struck me that if you can get the "old" D VII above 3000m you're a better ( and more patient ) man than me  :)) Well done !

Cheers

Alfie

Yes Alfie,... I'm a very patient (and willful) man...not necessary better than you  :D
Ok, I'll pass to BAT as soon as possible but my problem is the time...
Usually I'm working from 8 am to 19 pm from Monday to Friday;
Saturdays and Sundays are the only days I can fly the simulator just a little...  :-[
One years ago I broke my HD and decided to install CUP taking advantage of my  Christmas holidays and after some weeks BAT made his appearance...
I downloaded tha BAT manual but I discovered (maybe I'm wrong) that I had not enough time to install it.
Besides, I would lose so many ships I had in may TFM primary installation and painstakingly added to CUP day by day...
Maybe BAT now it has reached a level of completeness of objects, ships, tanks, etc... comparable to the old packages.
And last... the Hawker Hunters...  :(
Thank you Alfie for your help and your suggest.
Best regards,
Poiana

I would love to see the new up-dated D-VII posted so all could enjoy this great plane.
I am one that can't get these very large down loads.

Has a recent update been done to the Fokker DVII flight model?  I'm flying in the latest DBW 1916 v.4 which came out in 2019. In this the Fokker D VII still flies like a truck. Any sudden movement of the controls in a dogfight and you immediately go into a full spin. I have to fly this plane in boom and zoom mode to achieve anything with it, you simply cant engage in a turn fight with any real chance of success due to it's instability and propensity to spin. According to several sources I've read, the plane was actually quite docile to fly and had good all around maneuverability. So, in short, is a better FM available than the one in the latest DBW 1916?

There is but it's only available for 4.12 and is now standard in BAT DOF
If you read the previous posts on this thread you'll find the VII has always been rather a problematic  a/c
Several members have attempted FM fix's for her which have slightly improved matters but it was only when Storbror looked into it that the VII became the excellent fighter it should be .....

See my reply #143 on this thread three years ago (!)
The link unfortunately does not work......

Best idea is to download BAT and enjoy all IL 2 has to offer for the WW I flier  8)

Cheers

Thanks for the reply Alfie. I have two installs of DBW 1916 woking well, and one is with 4.12. Unfortunately, I don't have the drive space to install the gargantuan BAT mod. If I knew which BAT mod pack the improved DVII was  in, I would attempt to extract it from that and place it on my DBW 1916 4.12 install. Pehaps with a little digging I might find it. Its a pity BAT isn't offered the way the C.U.P. mod was where you could only install the things that interested you.

Recently I returned to IL2 after years without flying the sim. Finding this site was amazing to me with what has been done in terms of modding. I've even started skinning some of the WW1 planes for my own enjoyment. Might eventually post a few if I thought anyone besides me still had interest in WW1 aviation. ;)

Anyway, thanks again...

Well Gunny, here are a few I've done so far...
This is a Fokker DVI from Jasta 80B:

The Fokker DVII of Paul Aue, Jasta 10:

The Fokker DVII of Franz Mayer MFJ III:

And two fictional Fokker DRI's. The first is my personal skin, "The Black Devil", and the second a generic blue Triplane:

The excellent templates already available on this site for these planes really help when skinning. I'm just learning, no where near the skill level of the true masters I see here. As said, these are all just done for my enjoyment, none have been released so far.
