Title: Fokker T.V. request
Post by: Zflyer48 on November 10, 2013, 10:39:59 PM
There was a request over a year ago on this forum for a Fokker T.V. Brodant was working on a model. I was just wondering how the project was progressing and if anyone else was working on one. IMHO it is needed for any true Dutch campaign.

It has been seven(7) months since I posted about the Fokker T.V. Now, that I have retired and have a little time on my hands, I am trying to mod a bit. This is what I have been doing. Future posts will be in WIP.

I am in the middle of a vacation right now. So, my work has slowed down a bit on the T.V. This being the first time I have tried to build a plane, it may be a while before I get it right. I will probably be pestering for help, useful criticism, and any helpful link to help get this bird into the virtual air.
   I am using Blender 2.7.

If you have specific questions , the best is to post them on this forum  (they accept posts in English) - they are the expert in all matters related to dutch military aviation

And, if you'll allow me, a modding advice - deal at once with the smoothing of your model - it may become more difficult late - weld vertices which are very close one from another (most of the time you'll find by doing so that there were invisible unnecessary vertices at the places where you have "unwanted ridges") (the most important part in smoothing) choose the polygons you want to smooth (here you may decide to smooth the fuselage sides separately to make them appear more flat - or all teh fuselage main body to have a rounder rendering of the fuselage - it's a try and see thing) and apply smoothing - I've learnt it the hard way....

I always thought North American modified the design by changing nose and tail, losing the 20mm, better defensive armament, and better engines. You have a B-25 Mitchell.

Don't trouble yourself with glass and transparency - just assign for these parts a material called "glass" or "glass2" and after exporting copy the required glass.mat (or glass2.mat) and its associated tga file from another mod folder.
Il2 manages transparency somehow differently from 3D programs, in a simpler way.

Nice, I was working on a Franken version of this plane (I can fly it in my game, but still a lot to do with the cockpitfiles - also taken from other planes) but now I know you're making this one I think I can use time I did want to spent on the T-V instead on also learning to work with 3D. Besides this T-V I also made a Franken Fokker D-23. Their maps are both still a bit a mess so I have to clean up a bit, but if some of you want it just for fun i can try to upload them somewhere (mediafire or so) and ask people here that i can start a topic in the franken or the WIP section.

Wel, I did not had the time to clean up (although I did had some time to create a cockpi for the nosegunner and activate it) but here is an image of my Franken Fokker TV. Maybe I should uplaoad it to mediafire and try to get it in the Franken section as a gap filler untill you finnished this project. Your 3d model is much better!

Works in BAT WAW

I have to say, despite it being a 4.10 mod (and thus not having all the 4.12 features), and being a WIP, this is a nice plane. It handles quite well, and is a good looking aircraft.

I didn't try shooting at it or anything, so I have no clue what the damage model is like, but from what I've observed the only criticisms I could make would be based on things that are stated to be not complete yet anyways. Once this is finished, it's going to be one of the many gems in the Il-2 stable.

Well done so far, and I look forward to the further progress on this aircraft  8)

Nice work ! Bravo ! But...
- in your CockpitFokkerTV_Bombardier change all "(G4M) aircraft()" to "(Fokker) aircraft()"

For Rebels_409 testers !
Test with Class in attachments !
If you not have bombs... see here https://www.mediafire.com/folder/xuwc5rxara3av/IL-2_Public
Tab "MODS_IL-2" and tab "Arms" and "_Weapons_Dutch.7z" !

It is a FM problem. As I really suck at trying to crack open FM files. I will ask for help for dedicated FMs for mod.

SAS~Epervier

'in your CockpitFokkerTV_Bombardier change all "(G4M) aircraft()" to "(Fokker) aircraft()" '

I will beg for forgiveness. I did not delete Bombardier cockpit file before uploading.
Explanation:
The TV was designed to be a Fighter/Bomber. There is no Bombardier and in my research no bombsight.
Pilot dropped bombs by instrument and visual terrain cues taken from looking through nose glass.

If you wish a Navigator view, I will work on that. There will be no connection to bombsight.

Per my last post where I requested FMs, I would like to add that the Cockpit canopy be activated.
So, I can go from Closed Top Turret

Hello Mike, the opening and closing of any kind of hatch or door is controlled in the java and how your 3D is orientated, look for a plane that has something similar to what you require and add the java entries to yours and see what happens. ;)

Things that spring to mind are the SM-79 although that is quite a complicated set up if memory serves me, maybe the Franken Bloch and Potez me and Bison_M did could also help.

With your mod being for 4.10 the options are limited for the stock planes but you could find something the coders here have put together, 4.12 seems to offer old aircraft with newer functions.

Spend a few hours looking through QMB and testing a few candidates and you will most likely find something suitable.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

I tried it in HSFX7 yesterday, and got a 60% CTD. I opened the file, and there is apparently no FM file included. I just downloaded it again to check.

Good morning gentlemen, I tried again with my  vp_modact install, this time using Epervier's classes and it worked!!!!
Same problem#85 . Did exactly that: v1 (+-) éperv. classes (+-) weapons. No luck. Must be something else. 412,2 SAS5,3.

OK  Uppon writing this I decided to make two futher attemps:   relocating in mods + try in a clean game.

Relocating:
Code: [Select]
!       Fokker_TV_WIP-v1
Good news for me: it works.   Bad news is: there is a conflict with something else.

Checking classes... : 30304B1E0F7D3874 Fokker TV   + 30304B1E0F7D3874 Fokker DVII.

Wow this is a major class  (looking at content), not trivial. Probably main cockpit class file.  ::(

I know. I know. People operating WWI aircrafts separately wont bother, but DVII happens to be very popular post war + any given time alllout classic.
Also we are speaking of Holland aircrafts, and there are not that many.

DVII pit view, while sharing same file:

Greatly deserved Thanks. Great mod and a lot of work.
I will now enjoy flying the TV. I really appreciate your new plane. Keep up.   8)

Hello Zflyer48,   FokkerTV is a great plane and I think you certainly haven't said the last word here, so please don't take this as a criticism, I use it in my Vp Modpack and it works perfectly except for a small detail, I'm not sure if this is how it should look like, but when I shoot it down, I have something like that:
(https://i.postimg.cc/Wz4q9jmx/Jan-19-2020-12-47-57-PM.png) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/zGhb2xWD/Jan-19-2020-12-49-20-PM.png) (https://postimages.org/)
and by the way I would like to ask, are you planning any updates, sir?

I do have plans to re-visit this mod. As this was one of my very first mods and I have learned a
lot of stuff since then. I will do my best to refine it.
As always there is a "but". I am in the middle of two mods, now.

Taking a break from my current mods to revist an old one.
Trying to do an instrument panel. It will have dials and arrows that go around to point at what ever.
