Title: Realistic Lights v1.5 [4.09] [4.10] [4.12]
Post by: santobr on February 14, 2010, 12:03:20 AM
A new version of this old mod ;D
I will show Abigor's screenshots because they are awesome, if you don't care mate: :)

Features:
It changes the appearance of landing lights, navigation lights and runway lights in IL-2.
Independent textures from tracers.

Old optional effect for fun updated:
A better and almost perfect Flashing light on all three navi lights.
Now you do not lose your navi light if you enable the flashing light at it.

The flashing light effect you can see in this video made by Abigor:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7jSujY3-7g
A beautiful video, don't you think? :o

This is old but is not outdated, hehe: :P
I know the flashing light effect is not historically accurate, it's only for fun. So, please, don't write something like "this is not historical". ;)

Download:
https://www.mediafire.com/?j15z6p1m8r3zjuz

Installation:
Extract the content to your mods folder (#SAS, #UP#, #DBW, MODS).

If you want the flashing lights, just remove the dash from desired folder. Each folder for each flashing light.

You need to change in your technics.ini file from:
Code: [Select]
Smoke12:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhite.eff
Smoke13:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke13:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareRed.eff
Smoke14:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke14:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareGreen.eff
Smoke15:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke15:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhiteWide.eff

To:
Code: [Select]
Smoke12:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhiteStatic.eff
Smoke13:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke13:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareRedStatic.eff
Smoke14:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke14:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareGreenStatic.eff
Smoke15:Mesh     3do/Arms/Null/mono.sim
Smoke15:Effect   3DO/Effects/Fireworks/FlareWhiteWideStatic.eff
This change makes the static lights independent from the aircraft lights.
So the static lights will not blink and have their proper values of size and range.

Enjoy! :D

Awesome screenshots and video by Abigor. ;)

Thank you. I liked your nuke effect very much, and this looks awsome, I'll have to try.

BTW, my grandfather was an aircraft mechanic in WWII and slightly postwar, and he has a story about the switch to anti-collision strobe lights from steady white nav lights. So, they may be accurate after all for later time periods. :)

Thank you, guys.
I am glad you liked this one. ;D
If some one can explain how to compile class files, I think we could have a realistic effect like the sun or searchlights. ;)

boogabooga:
That is great news. Thanks for share that information with us. :o :D

Do you think you could also add extra lights as stationary objects in blue, yellow, etc. colors? That would be great!

I love this mod! This was an issue long overdue and you solved it. 8)

A beautiful but doubt me Mods plagues, I tried the flash version and gives me this problem only affects me or my PC does not support this version?
That's when the flash of light, runs a black square as the operation will appear and disappear along with it. ::)
version I use is the mod UP_20.

That might be a video card or video card driver issue.  I get a black square surrounding aircraft lights when they are first drawn in FSX.  I'm using an Nvidia 8800GT with the 182.50 driver.  I have not yet tried this mod in Il2.

Thank you very much, friends. :D

Hi, Stefano. :)
Well, I think you already discovered what is wrong.
If there are another problems with IL-2, maybe you can try an older driver version.
I have a ATI, and the latest drivers doesn't work very well for me , so I installed another version and it works fine.
I know nVidia drivers almost don't have problems with IL-2, but sometimes a specific version can have some minor issues.
If you think there are no problems with the driver, you can check if the file "flarewhite.mat" is in the correct folder:
Mods\00_Realistic Lights\3DO\Effects\Tracers\Textures

Cheers. :)

My experience, and I have quite a bit, with Nvidia drivers is that the newer drivers are designed for their newest cards, but backwards compatibility is added.  The result is that your older card will work, it might actually render images a little faster, but it may very well render them with errors.

Thank you, guys. :D

You can put it in the "MODS" folder respecting the folders structure.
Or put it in the "jsgmemods" folder and use the JSGME to activate it. It only will copy the correct folder to the "MODS" folder. ;)

i never did this kind of "exercice" whit the folder of the game...
Hovewer, will try it.
For each p38, there a folder who contain: "hier.him", "NavLight4.mat", "NavLight5.mat", "TailLight1_D0.msh" and "TailLight2_D0.msh"
Think i have just to put this kind of things into the folder of the aircraft who don't have?!
Will try it.

Thanks for the idea Santobr! :)

Hi santobr.

Great mods.

As you seem to be good for light aspects i was wondering if you could make something to improve AAA night lights :

Hi redko and thanks. ;D

I saw your post at AAA (or the same picture :P), and after that I wanted to work on that.
But unfortunately, I'm waking up at 5:30am and I'm coming back to my home at 12:00pm because of work and college.
Maybe I can make something on my vacation. :)
This is making me sad because I love to work on MODs. :(
Well, at fifteen years ago, my father says: Son, you need to study. But I don't heard my father.
Unfortunately. :P ;D

Thank you. :D

I love this mod aspecialy this blinking white light (looks perfect on arifields)
Im wonder if its posible to add to FMB red, green blinking lights in addition to normal ones?
Title: Re: Realistic Lights
Post by: santobr on August 09, 2010, 02:06:50 PM
Yes, it's possible. :)
But we need to add more smoke objects like in colored smoke from Checkyersix. ;)
Because the static lights and the static smokes are the same kind of objects in IL-2.
I'm thinking in more 8 smoke objects.
1 for a blue light.
3 for blinking lights blue, red, and green.
and 4 for flash lights in 4 different synchronization times to make the lights on the head of the runway.

It would be cool! :D

Ainda não testei, mas tenho certeza que se modificar o technics.ini de acordo com as instruções (se já não estiver modificado) funcionará.

I did not test it, but I'm sure if you modify the technics.ini according to the instructions (if it is not already modified) it will work.

They are not objects, they are Stationary Objects, Light Type 1, 2, 3, 4. :)

If you want them all the time on, leave army none in the properties.

Title: Re: Realistic Lights v1.5

It's a bug not related to my mod.
It will be fixed in the next UP3 version.
In DBW, this bug was in SAS_AI mod, it's already fixed in the last version, but I don't know if the last public version has the fix.

Having a problem here, I really want to use the blinking nav lights. But nothing happens.
I use
HSFX5.1
JSGME (I enable your mod through this)

But I still get no blinking lights :(

Also I've tried editing the the technics.ini just incase it was that but it still wont work   :-[

Title: Re: Realistic Lights v1.5
Post by: santobr on December 08, 2011, 01:03:34 PM
This mod was not made for JSGME.
After include the settings in your "technics.ini", just put the four folders inside your MODS folder and cut the dash in front of the names of the folders. ;)

Title: Re: Realistic Lights v1.5

Maybe is a bug in the aircraftstate class, because it looks like the IL-2 is ignoring the values from effect's files.

santobr.
Title: Re: Realistic Lights v1.5
Post by: zack on February 07, 2012, 04:10:19 PM
Hm...thanks Santobr.
What should I do then to solve this problem?
Or maybe there are similar mods that will work flawlessly here?
Title: Re: Realistic Lights v1.5
Post by: santobr on February 08, 2012, 02:40:26 PM
Try the class files from Sanka (Plutonium).
If them don't crash your IL-2, maybe the bug can be fixed.
But some old bugs from AI mod can appear again, because the files are not based in the last version of the AI mod.

I have green tail light is it some kind of bug or what is it possible to fix that
I had the same problem and changing the order of load of the "plutonium" i got the tail light white again.
If i don´t remember bad the name of the Mod is "0_0..." and If i change it to "_0_0..."the mod is loaded before.
Title: Re: Realistic Lights v1.5
Post by: santobr on February 22, 2012, 06:38:52 AM
Yes, it's what I meant in my last post. :)
Unfortunatelly, we can have some undesired results about the last fixes made by Anto in SAS_AI mod, because the class files made by Sanka was not based on the last version of SAS_AI mod.
Maybe not, if the aircraftstate class was not updated, the same of the Plutonium.

Title: Re: Realistic Lights v1.5
Post by: santobr on February 26, 2012, 04:22:14 PM
Attention! :)

It looks like the DBW patch is missing the changes inside technics.ini file and, because of that, the runway lights will not work properly.
So, if you are using this mod, please, take a look at the first post in the technics.ini file section, and make the necessary changes.

This is not related to the big nav lights bug, sorry, I can't reproduce this bug. :-[
