The Wellesley, a plane that I really like, it is not an aircraft by important operational career, it was not the star of exceptional war effort, he is remembered for being the predecessor of Wellington, in the construction of geodesic, but has some really strange, was the holder of a record distance, was used as a long-range bomber (a single-engine two-seater), carried a payload greater than Blenheim at the Battle and the G3M and for the first time in pod underwing fairings, for his career such as aircraft navigation support in transfers from Egypt to India.

This is my first attempt with a plane retractable trolley, not being able to work on the class and on Java, there are some problems.
the gear doors do not close perfectly and some do not move, missing a gear arms, now open the bombs doors when release the load and the payload is right.

In the original mod pod wing are not skinnable, you can now overwrite the contents of this mod in / plane / WellesleyMKI.

congratulations - fantastic to have the Vickers Wellesley !!! An iconic beast!
They were used in WW2, albeit briefly - during the campaign against the Italians in East Africa:eg RAF's 223 Squadron.
And Il2 does have a map mod for that region, I believe.
[and I once knew a terrific old bloke who used to fly them there.]

Thanks, Gio. They flew shipping patrols in the Red sea, bombed Italian targets in the area, and even escorted convoys. With 14 Squadron, they had two Lewis guns added where the windows were. Several Wellesleys were lost to CR 42s. They also bombed a desert airfield which the Italians were using to ferry SM 79s through.

With the help of CWatson we now have a dedicated slot, and temporary because in the future we will adjust the FM and defects.

A special monography was published in the french Avions magazine - I think I have part of it (Avions has the painful habit of spreading its monographies in 2-3 or even 4 issues), I'll look for it this evening.
And there is a Warpaint dedciatd to this plane - perharps some member of this forum has a copy of it?

Based on the texture of Murdoc and thanks to the wonderful model of the great "gio963tto" and thanks to the images added by Dreamk, here are three different skins .... they are quite 2048 HD size..

P.S. I added a small change to the file "WELvarT" to be included in the "plane" to make more compatible the camouflage of the two slippers ..

Is there maybe some inconsistency with 4.12x/5.2x, for some recent mod planes?
some examples: Ki67 works only as AI, while Ki109 works as both AI and flyable.
Gee Bee works as both, but Wellesley only as AI.
[both QMB and FMB share these problems] ..........any advice?

... j'avais mis qu'un screen sur les deux, pour faire des économies, et c'est parce qu'on avait changé de page, donc on ne voyait pas à quoi je faisais référence, d'où des économies de mulot pour éviter aux gars de scroller en arrière ... ;)
Le souci avec ce template c'est que si on change de catégorie de skin (passage de summer à désert par ex) ben faut aussi retourner dans le mod pour modifier la couleur des deux soutes à bombes sous les ailes ... :(
Mais moi m'en fous, moi ne vole que dans le MTO alors ... :D

I originally had trouble with this aircraft, the same 100% as described, to cure it I set the mod further up the #SAS folder hierarchy thus: '0000_Wellesley-MKI'. ;)
All was ok after that. 8)

I plan on sending Gio a update for this plane soon. I have already fixed the unnatural gunner's movement.
I would like to add a closed canopy option but I can not seem to locate a photo with the the canopy closed, gun in stowed position and gunner seated in rear cockpit. If just seated it seems the gunner's head would rest against the grip of the Lewis MG.
I will be adding the torpedo loadout too. The one photo I have seen with this plane carrying a torpedo it appears the wing mounted bomb bays are removed.
If any Wellesley fans can clear up these questions I would be happy to implement them.

There's a Matchbox 1/72 scale plastic model of this plane, which probably depicts the closed canopy fairly accurately. I don't know where they put the rear seat in relation to the machine gun, though.
