... a very great map, but a very great number of textures are not indexed (24 bits instead of 8 bits), hence 708 Mb unzipped ...  ???

I managed to reduce it to 591 Mb unzipped by indexing a lot of .tga textures ...  ;)

I have done this and added the text in the static ini file

I have successfully added text the the static ini file before so I know the text as been inserted into the static ini file in the correct place.

I'm not sure that the version 4.11 has brought any changes to the map. That is shown in the screenshot (maps.properties & maps_ru.properties), I provided an example of my game 4.11.1, in case you did not have these files.

I was previously convinced that if the map is loaded, but does not retain the mission, the problem can only be in the missing objects. Try again re-install everything. Maybe you missed something.
In the first post added an additional link to the archive

Works great in DBW.
One of the greatest maps ever. On par with the Solomons maps.

I didn't use the i18n files, and everything seems fine. Maybe I'll notice something later.

Missions build and save correctly.

Beautiful map!
One error I found...in the forest on the north-east border of Moscow city is a jumble of roads.
Also, the river south of Rzhev is not connected in one place.  Maybe it's supposed to be like that?  Anyhow, I will be making a campaign for Rzhev so I'm particular about that region  ;D

Very nice map and also thanks for the many objects especially the beautiful village houses!
I have though a problem:I experience very low fps when flying low close to some towns for example Rzhev but even smaller towns or even villages. I tried to figure out what is the problem but couldn't get any hint. Anyone experienced the same? I have a good PC and it runs fine even on very densely populated maps...
Also noticed something weird about the trees: with forest=3 in conf.ini when you look carefully at trees in game you see that there are in towns/villages besides the '3D' trees also the normal '2D' 'treeline' ones. With forest=3 all 'treeline' are usually replaced by the '3D' trees. ???

Good work guys but i have found few thing that needs to be fixed, few ground textures has wrong size, they are 1024x1025 or 1025x1025, game console shows this as error.
Another thing is that most textures are just to big they could be resized to 512 or even 256 and indexed to 256 colors 8bit (only textures with alpha need 32bit) to improve performance. For example village houses and railstations object has 1024/24 textures when smaller 256/8 bit is enough to make them look good.City buildings could use 512 size to keep all their details.
I have resized/indexed all textures mentioned above and this saved a lot off disk space from more than 300mb to 60mb,and now when fly over map i dont see any difference all looks same as before but FPS improve especially above dense populated areas.

All those (in all respects) GREAT buildings that make up the Kremlin etc are simply amazing, but mind you there are a number of very detailed, small and a bit run-down country-side houses there as well - perfect for the Soviet countryside in the 40-ies.

Plus some new tree groups, including one autumn!!! VERY useful in other maps as well. (I've also noted that several of the simple dirt-strips don't have any objects there at all, not even the obligatory neat row of camo-nets and the odd gasoline cistern, which actually is ideal from a mission-builders point of view.)

Can't praise this map enough. One of the best around. And I have started building a campaign for it. The map is simply too good to resist :)

Thank you Loku.(http://forum.aviaskins.com/images/smilies/drinks1.gif)

About the empty ground airfields, it is made intends, to the missions creator himself put it needed objects. This saves the size of static.ini
This idea was suggested Karabas-Barabas and I think it's right.
Title: Re: Battle of Moscow
Post by: lowfighter on May 05, 2013, 08:01:45 AM
Look closely at trees in this figure, it's what I mentioned in my first post: the treeline and the 3d trees are coexisting! Never saw this before because 3d trees replace the treeline when you have forest=3 in the config.ini of the game. Never saw this except on this map. In principle this can be good because treeline pops up at bigger distance than the 3d trees.  8) Or maybe bad  :-\
Anyway I have no idea how is this possible .........

Really Nice Thanks Loku

EDITED !
Title: Re: Battle of Moscow
Post by: mandrill on May 05, 2013, 08:33:00 AM
If oknevas has placed his own mod trees together with treeline stock trees, you would get 2 different types of trees side by side.
Title: Re: Battle of Moscow
Post by: lowfighter on May 05, 2013, 08:53:18 AM
Mandrill, I checked this in FMB map mode. There's only one tree type which contains the key word 'treeline'. Hard coded il2 will replace any such with the 3d trees when forest=3 is in config.ini. I checked many other things still no idea why hahaha

Get it here:
http://ultrapack.tuttovola.org/index.php?topic=2630.0 (http://ultrapack.tuttovola.org/index.php?topic=2630.0)

downloading now - will run it and see what happens -

Static ini checker did not indicate a static.ini file error, but missing objects = a 3do file folder in the Moscow download called "tree" -

Work continues on my campaign for this truly EPIC map. The work name is "Operation Taifun", and it covers the entire Battle for Moscow from the beginning of October until mid-December. The Player is a German fighter pilot in JG51, particpating in the drive on the Northern Flank of the offensive - the one that actually got closest to Moscow, but also was hit the hardest by the Soviet counter-offensive.

(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Poltava/taifun_WIP_zpsd1e07713.jpg) (http://s163.photobucket.com/user/Poltava/media/taifun_WIP_zpsd1e07713.jpg.html)

To date I've made some 23 missions, the latest taking place on December 3, the day after motorcycle patrols from the 2nd Panzer Division reached Khimki, some 8 km away from Moscow city limits, the troops being able to make out some of the major buildings of the Soviet capital through their field glasses. But soon Zjukov will strike back...

I've said it before, but I have to say it again: this map is awesome, one of the best in the game!

Oknevas, thank you for this awesome map.  :) It certainly has been a grand effort! 8)
However, I am having an issue where ground objects and buildings seem to disappear in the near distance where they should be visible. Here are some examples:

(http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i455/badderger/il2fb2013-05-3022-54-07-05.png) (http://s1094.photobucket.com/user/badderger/media/il2fb2013-05-3022-54-07-05.png.html)

(http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i455/badderger/il2fb2013-05-3022-54-05-91.png) (http://s1094.photobucket.com/user/badderger/media/il2fb2013-05-3022-54-05-91.png.html)

As you can see, the closer the objects, the less the effect.

The campaign is now ready for download:

It's a 27 mission static campaign, set in the period of early October 1941 to mid December. You are flying the Bf 109F, on the northern flank of the German push on Moscow. More details will follow later.

Again: thanks Okevnas for a super job!  :)

Bravo, I'm still little bit confuse on the HSFX map installation.
Can you tell me where to install the following items located in this map download ?:
3do   Folder
i18n   Folder
maps  Folder
+Static.txt  Text document
Thanks,

Title: Re: Battle of Moscow
Post by: BravoFxTrt on June 04, 2013, 08:44:16 AM
Ok, TICI

The 3do Folder goes in the MAPMODS Folder<----if all you have is HSFX Place this in your " Files " Folder

The maps Folder goes in the MAPMODS Folder <----if all you have is HSFX the Maps folder is in your " Files " Folder

Dont worry about the i18 Folder, its not critical to have. You need to learn these things and Folder Structure.

Open your STD or Com Folder, all the way to find your .ini's and you will see static.ini  then copy paste to the bottom of the static.ini the documentaion from the Download.

Hope you can understand all this!

I need please some confirmations.

Do BoM.properties/BoM_ru.properties files go into #DBW/STD/i18n folder alongside others *.properties files (as weapons_ru.properties etc.)?
Does folder "Oks" go into folder #DBW/mapsmod/maps/_tex/land alongside folders "summer" and "winter"?
Or maybe does it go instead into the folder named "summer", just like some others are settled in?

Thanks for the reply guys.

I have a High-End System.I wonder if this is the reason for the CDT

This time I try the first mission without Gurner´s FX but no luck, same time, same situation, same CTD.
Really strange.I have a thought that something is happend at this specific point in the mission, maybe some Planes are Spawning or something else what leads to a mod conflict?
Anyway, next time I simply skip the 1.mission and see thats happend in the next ones.

Great map indeed ^^

I took a look for SEOW compatibilty, this map seems nice, I just noted one issue: only one rail blockage, a part of road and a road bridge instead of rail ones

We are discussing about including this map in the next HSFX7 release, my opinion is positive

The issue is in the Operation Taifun Campaign when it use the new Moscow map with the snow. I think it could be anything and very difficult to find out, unless someone out there has experienced the same problem and fixed it. I use other winter maps in Campaigns and Singles missions without problems, only this map has this issue.

I fully agree with CzechTexan
You do not work the textures of the city. Therefore, they are shown in black.
Somewhere in the installation error
Please check your Sload.ini (Aload.ini) from map BOM and textures themselves from the folder Tex / .....Oks /. Summer texture of the city with 1S.tga on 9S.tga.

Can you copy a file in your text here Sload.ini and Aload.ini
and check the textures in the folder Oks?

P/s The first texture is not working - 4S.tga.
Another little suggestion.
It seems that the textures  2S.tga 4S.tga error in the permit.

Textures must be the size of 1024X1024 pixels.

When this map was first released I had a difficult time downloading it and then I forgot about it until today. I must say some of the objects are truely works of art. Some of the Moscow objects such as the cannon and buildings along with the cabins and the amazing hangers with see through glass windows blew me away. The map and its textures are not the only things that are stunning with this map. The beautifull new objects add a lot to the feel of the map.
Thank you to all involved in its making. :)

Small fix and addon to map "Battle of Moscow" (look at the first post)

Quote
-Added summer season map (the temperature on the map + 20 C);
-Fixed the historical view Monino aerodrome;
(http://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/9555/68328967.1/0_d03d1_3b382aee_XL.jpg) (http://fotki.yandex.ru/users/gruppa-df/view/852945/)
-Fixed the textures of the city of Moscow with the wrong resolution, which emerged when cutting;
-Cleaned the territory of the Gorky Park;
-Added "Dynamo"stadium;
-Added spire to the building of river station (unfortunately tip without stars, but in flight is not critical);

-And also small minor fixes the boot files

You are right Oknevas, this object IS part of stock 4.10!
So there is nothing wrong with this patch,

But as I have the same problem like Redfox I will have a closer look
later whats wrong with my static.ini(s) in DBW ..

Hi Oknevas

I had checked my static.ini before I posted. I have checked again and a clean copy in an vanilla #DBW folder and I don't have any mention of a 'Plate$BlankRunwayLong' in either.

Cheers - Redfox

P.S. Reverted back to the originals which are great maps. Apart from SAS~Gerax and myself, nobody else has mentioned it, and so if is part of the stock 4.10 then I have the problem.

You are right Oknevas, this object IS part of stock 4.10!

sorry guys, my fault, it does not exist in stock 4.10 static.ini.
(had too many static.ini files open and mixed them while searching this object ;D
but now extracted it from 4.10.1 files.sfs and had a look again).
also has a look into stock 4.11.1 static.ini, the same: no BlankRunwayLong.

So it definitely comes with 4.12.

Just downloaded and installed this map. Opened the autumn map in FMB and the three aerodromes north of Smolensk are surrounded by grey circles, tried the winter map and the same applies. Is this normal or specific to, perhaps, a bug in my installation?

I finally got around to adding this map into my 4.12 5.30. I noticed that there was a "new" summer map, so I added that also. I noticed that all three original maps loaded and saved correctly, but I couldn't get the new "summer" map to save. Obviously, there was something in the smactors file that I didn't have.

Since I am a lazy slug, I just changed the summer map to load "actors" instead of "smactors"
Summer map now saves.

First, let me say that this map is wonderful. Throughout, you have used many clever manipulations
to get the most out of this old game. Well done!

However, I am having a problem with the summer version. Autumn, winter and spring loaded
and saved missions without problems. Summer loads but will not save missions for me.

as I can be too,

I changed the summer “load” to access “Sactors” and the summer map would save missions.

I went back to the original setup, where the map wouldn't save missions. I used the static checker
to see if I was missing any objects. The only object listed as missing was “buildings.Plate$AirfieldSr”.

I double checked the installation of the object and I believe it is correct. I can use that object
on other maps!

Any ideas cuz I'm fresh out.

News from the frontline:
The 1st SEOW Battle of Moscow campaign will begin ASAP Operation Taifun (http://www.derrierloisirs.fr/seow/Campagnes/Taifun/presentation/TaifunEN.htm)

100 pilots are now REGISTERED (http://www.flibusteairline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7485) (registration is full).

For online heavy missions, I needed to reduce the static.ini allowing better playability over the Moscow city. ( 3480Ko to 1905Ko).

Many thanks to Oknevas and the map builders ^^

Yopu must copy and let overwrite into STF/3do/ folder all the content released in 3do folder of the map, namely the folders and their content:
airfield
Buildings
GroundDecals
Tree

In the folder Buildings there are MolvaHangars, Moscow and Railstations folder.
Inside the folder Moscow there are folders containing all the Kremlin buildings.

So:
copy all the content of 3do folder from the map package into your STD/3do/ folder and let overwrite.

Title: Fully updated version of the map
Post by: Oknevas on May 02, 2015, 06:16:26 AM
Fully updated version of the map - download (https://yadi.sk/d/IlL9Zc5G4V_WE) (just updated the first post). Unlike the initial publication of the map, it was made a summer version of Moscow, which is also included in the overall package. Altered or modified in some airports (starting point, taxiing and parking are not affected), deleted accidentally left the extra facilities. The important point is the restructuring of major cities such as Smolensk, Kalinin, Tula, Kaluga and other (reduced building density), resulting in improved rendering performance shots of these cities. Added railway branch Istra - Moscow (added Baltic (Riga) railway station). Removed unnecessary objects in the settlement Demidov, replace the lens of rural type to the appropriate model for suburban homes, as well as made numerous minor improvements on the map.
As things have been completed yet by objects such as hangars (now have the options of collisions), at initial edition consisted of 3 pieces and intended mainly for accommodation fighters. Now included in the another hangar in two color options, which was increased in size and now allow to place in it medium bomber, such as IL-4, or He 111. Except for the Central Airport, these objects do not appear on the map, and added to free accommodation when creating game missions.

(https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/16181/183912142.0/0_111bf8_aa5cc3a2_XXL.jpg) (https://fotki.yandex.ru/next/users/oknevas79/album/470487/view/1121272)

By the same "mirror objects" on which work has been completed (including the model of damage), include the building of the village administration. Included in the package but are not placed on the map. They can be used when creating a game missions as military headquarters.

(https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/15527/183912142.0/0_111bf9_4eb62b2a_orig.jpg) (https://fotki.yandex.ru/next/users/oknevas79/album/470487/view/1121273)

About trees. Now, on the map in all the seasons present heterogeneity of tree species (except winter). Slightly edited texture, as well as two new species of trees, which were not in the original edition. This winter and spring version - with flowering trees.

(https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/6212/183912142.0/0_111bfa_831e6c10_orig.jpg) (https://fotki.yandex.ru/next/users/oknevas79/album/470487/view/1121274)

Finish as the following objects that appear on the map, it: DOM 1, DOM 2, DOM 4. Now they are using damage model

(https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/15581/183912142.0/0_111bfb_1d3b4e8b_orig.jpg) (https://fotki.yandex.ru/next/users/oknevas79/album/470487/view/1121275)

Finally, two completely new objects. There have already been comments that are missing and Pozharsky monument Minin Red Square. However, departing from the threads of past the monument, personally, I really like to see as one more object. This fountain, which opened back in 1835 and is the oldest fountain of the capital. Originally it called Petrovsky fountain, but now it is called a fountain Vitali named creator - Ivan Vitali. More remarkable fact that this architectural monument, located on the Square. Sverdlov (now Theatre Square) has witnessed defeated the Luftwaffe. Ju-88 aircraft with code F6 + AK (number 0285) was shot down pilots 07/25/1941 3rd Fighter Air about Istria and made an emergency landing on a glade. And five days later was put on display townspeople near the fountain Vitali.

Ju-88 belonged to the 2nd Reconnaissance Squadron 122 th Intelligence Group (2. (F) / 122), made a reconnaissance flight to Moscow-Kaluga region.
Information about the fate of the crew is not. In the German archives unaccounted for.
Crew:
Lieutenant Wilhelm Stuckmann - the pilot;
Feldwebel Anders, Wilfred - navigator;
Obergefreite Bruno Sievert - radio operator;
Obergefreite Werner Ludwig - arrows.

Returning to the theme of objects, it would be nice to be able to recreate this pattern in the game. A remedy the situation and to make a contribution volunteered Nikita Sitnik, he is comrade Sita and Oleg aka Molva. Have been made and imported 3D models into the game, as a fountain of Vitali and Minin and Pozharsky monument. Since these objects are small in size and preserved historically, model no damage them.

(https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/16121/183912142.0/0_111bfc_3175b769_orig.jpg) (https://fotki.yandex.ru/next/users/oknevas79/album/470487/view/1121276)

In this edition of the map have been added to airports: Monino, Zagorsk and Zaharkovsky seadrome the Khimki Reservoir, where there were moorings for amphibians. Last belonged "to the Office of polar aviation NSRA." From here they were sent to distant expedition. After the end of the summer navigation aircraft removed for the winter sucks, who was in the bay opposite the River Station in the village Zakharkovo. Here, in Zakharkovo arriving trucks and buses loaded with equipment and supplies, and food for polar expeditions. It was here, came back after the next important task crews. Came back, focusing on the callsign beacon, first - in OPALIKHA and then at reducing - Zaharkovskogo beacon. As recalled by the pilots: "It was especially difficult to return to the airfield during the war. The shores Khimki Reservoir rafts were camouflaged with artificial greenery. Tired after the military operations, often overcast we had to" find "the corridor, entrance to Moscow, and the air Corridors are periodically changed. We were calculated only on the means of radio engineering and piloting crawls through a barrage balloon to their base. The complexity of such a blind flight maneuver in these narrow "corridor" gives us no less stress than flying over enemy territory. In fact, if the plane fell into the steel Network balloons ruthless steel cables of the plane cut in half. "

I have been gone for a while and would love to have the updated version of this map and objects but I am having trouble downloading them. If anyone has time could they please upload the map and objects to a media fire link? I would be grateful. Thank you.

And this time a Russian one! (I only built ONE Russian campaign before - I guess I'm a bit biased ... I'm hoping for some spare time here  ;) THANKS!

THANKS!I have built one campaign for this map
Remember that, flown at 2013 as Ru pilot (just changed my craft in mis.file;)
Motorhead built with BoM map for DGenPack a few different campaigns for RU fighters, sturmovics, bombers, AAD interceptors. Start in Battle for Smolensk, july,1941 & finish in Kontrstrike near Moscow, january,1942.

FANTASTIC MAP! I loved it as a summer and autumn version, but now we have a winter version!
In fact, Oknevas winter vers BoM map need in campaigns from third week of october,1941 till second week of december,1941. After that period BoM42v2 much suitble.
For example, campaign about 5 GIAP in this period, generated in DGenPack & edited as static campaign, attachment DGenRU5GIAP.zip take here :

http://forum.aviaskins.com/showpost.php?p=158719&postcount=96

About translation mis.properties from RU to EN was somewere at SASforum, if veterans know, please, help with link to theme. In briefings we 've got a history Sovinformbeauro propaganda ;)
PS: samples.zip need for correct mission's work or strings with links to briefings*.vaw need to be deleted in every mis.file. Unpack & drop in main Il2 folder.

Full campaign about 5 GIAP? There was a campaign about 5 GIAP's way from Stalingrad to Berlin already done at stock Il-2 (if my memory no brake), may be not full history. Some facts about 5 GIAP here:

Here campaign looks like yours about JG51 under Moscow (v.4.12):

I'm sorry to say that I'm having a problem with these maps. Here's a link to the thread in the Tech Help section:

Hi Folks,

Just to clarify, if I am using DBW 1.71 - I don't need to use the i18n folder that comes with the install package of this map - correct ?

I'm putting together a new DBW build and will be adding this map. Thanks - jg1234

Hello, do not tell me I'm adding to the file All
Battle_of_Moscow-spring BoM / Sload.ini
Battle_of_Moscow-summer BoM / load.ini
Battle_of_Moscow-autumn BoM / Aload.ini
Battle_of_Moscow-winter BoM / Wload.ini
but in the list of maps they are not present, that it is necessary to make that they would appear HSFX 7.0.3

With this nice map come a few objects among which there is the 'el' tree, a sort of fir. It would be nice to have a few variants of the el tree, the difference being their height, say variant1=2/3original, variant2=1/2original, variant1=1/4original. This would be great to have in mountain regions ...
I would be very happy if the creators can do this!

Currently I achieve diferent height variants  by cloning the object in static.ini such that each variant is just the original sunk in the ground with the 'addheightlive' instruction. But this is not so nice since the trunk is not visible for the sunken variants.

Can you give us this?

Thanks!

Hi chaps,

I can't get this map to load. i think I've done all the entries correctly (I have a lot of mod maps and have never had issues) but I get this error with this one:

Try deleting the last section of the load.ini ([Airfields]). It's required by Zuti's Friction mod which is not available for 4.12. I'm just guessing that it is the source of your problem.

Hi VP,

Yes I noticed they looked odd - deleted and now working fine. Many thanks!

Attention!
Without Zuti's friction mode the airfields will be coarse unless the Cannons BlankFieldPlates are applied.
Title: Re: Battle of Moscow
Post by: vpmedia on January 23, 2019, 11:31:13 AM
Of course the grass runways will not work without the friction mod or without blank plates. I assumed that the map was updated with blank plates but now I see that there's only a few on each airfield.  The plate you wanna use is called 'Blank Parking Large'.
Title: Re: Battle of Moscow
Post by: Uzin on January 23, 2019, 01:25:58 PM
Removal of the paragraph [Airfields] is unnecesary.
What is essential, is disabling or removal  the friction mod from the #SAS folder.
Adding of either blank plates, BlankFieldPlates or similar ones is necessary not only for grass airfields, but for any of them, if smoothing is required.

Thank Uzin, I used the friction mod file from your Belarus download (great map btw, thanks!) and it seems to work with 4.12 and allows BoM maps to load with the airfield data!

However I think there will be a problem with aircraft using the runways IIRC

this is all you got in that load.ini section so I dont know how you could get this work with the friction mod:

Quote
[AIRFIELDS]
  //Fild
  Airfield_001 = 1 371199 460799 1 1.85

;)

This aproach usually select all the map area smoothed, in the present case to 1.85.

I cant get the map to load... which is so frustrating because IT LOOKS AMAZING.

DBW 1.71.   When I try and load the map I get a Map Load error 'BOM/aload.ini'      Firstly the log showed an error loading S1.tga, which didnt seem to exist in the oks subdirectory, so I installed Oks texture fix and now the log file shows errors loading various fieldsxx.tga files each time I try.  the files are there in the oks subdirectory

really confusing      or is this actually something to do with the static.ini?
