I am proud to present to you the first campaigns for Asura's new DGen. The campaigns can be played in the unmodded and the modded version of the game, see installation instructions below.

Requirements:

Il-2 1946 version 4.11 or the latest modded version of the game (UP/DBW)
DGen mod by Asura

Installation:

The campaigns will NOT work with the old DGen.exe file created by Starshoy only with Asura's new DGen.

1. Download and install the latest version of Asura's DGen Mod.

Download links to the DGen Mod files can be found in the following forum threads:

Make sure to download and install the most recent files!

2. Extract the campaigns DGen and PaintSchemes folders contained in the .zip file into your games main directory.

3. The campaigns were created for the unmodded version of the game. If you are using Ultra Pack or Dark Blue world, put the files from the folder "Files for mod users" into your DGen folder after you installed the campaign files and overwrite the files from the unmodded version.

Known problems:

On long-range intercept missions the routes of enemy and friendly flights are sometimes slightly too far away and the flights will not see each other (will be fixed by one of the next DGen versions).

Sometimes aircraft collisions during airstart and torpedo attack missions.

Well i'm enjoying it!

flying a couple at the moment on the a 4.11 mod version, and its really nice. I've swapped a P38J out for a F-1-LO in the Dec '42 version just to have a play and it works a treat.

Kinda what should of shipped with Pacific fighters all those years ago!!!!!

I've not installed this correctly.
When I "Generate" a mission for USM Fighter 1942 the PC makes a buzzer sound and nothing is loaded.

According to the error log there is no USA.dat file in your DGen folder or something is wrong with the file. USA.dat isn't a file from my campaign, it is the file with the names of the home towns of the pilots in your squadron.

These are no error messages, DGen is just doing a check if these files are present. As far as I know they are used when a smaller than default mission distance is used in carrier operations.

Thanks for the reply Juri

My mistake was to rename the original DGen folder to DGen_Original  (to preserve it)
Then I pasted in the new DGen folder with your files.
I did not overwrite the original folder so some original files could not be found by the game.
I did not realise that some of the old files were still needed.

Most of the old DGen files are still needed to use Asura's new DGen.

All you have to do, is to extract the DGen folder from my campaigns .zip file into your games main folder. The campaign files will be integrated automatically into your old DGen folder.

I have i nstalled the campaign as per instructions every thing loads and runs fine until you quit whatever mission your playing then i get dgen has encountered an error and needs to close an ideas how to correct this

Are you using the latest version of Asura's new DGen?
If yes, post the DGen_mod log file that is created after the error and if an Dgen_modERROR file is created post it too, so I can see what is causing the problem.

No, that's not from my Solomons campaigns. You have to copy the DGen_mod log file immediately after a mission caused an error or it will be overwritten.

No. This is excellent campaigne. You can only play not build. Just install it.

1. It is very important to make backup of your Dgen folder and dgen.exe file before installing.

2. You must unpack the folders with dgen campaigne to read instructions, but install the campaign by unpacking it directly to the game's folder.

The generator file (dgen.exe) is started by game during the necessary moments. Manually it is not necessary to start it.

Hi, Juri!

1) Big, BIG thank you to you and Asura for a monumental expansion (i.e. Dgen 1.0.1.0).

And, tongue in cheek, a classic remark: the second part of the briefings are in Russian.

I fly DBW 1.71 + Dgen.exe (1.0.1.0), I copied folder Dgen, Dgen_mod.ini and the content of 'Rufix' and 'for_UP3_DBW171' to the appropiate folders and files.

In the recent past I used to repair English language trouble with a host of fixes like English_career_language_fix but this time those tricks don't work.

The mission briefings consist of two parts, a general part in English and a mission-specific part in Russian.

The Dgen_modError.log is a little foggy and reports thus:

I started your Solomoms campaign with the first generated mission, a rather long distance mission to the NNW over the New Georgia Sound.
Beats me where the message about Singapore originates from.........

EDIT:
After flying the first mission all of a sudden everything is as it should be: missionbriefing for second mission in English. I must have done something good, mucking around with all my language-patches.
Conclusion: issue solved.

pierre1946 I will try to repeat a situation - you began new campaign on Solomons, in the first briefing a half of the text was on Russian, and the second on English. In the second mission all text was on English. Did I get it right?

That's correct, Asura.

Between my first and second try at the first mission I had copied in several language patches, collected over the years.The first mission-try I didn't complete, the second try at the first mission I did complete the mission. The briefing of the second mission was as it should be: briefing as a whole in English.

For new campaigns big briefings (at the beginning and completion of campaign or sub campaign) are stored in separate files, for example SolomonsApr1943MsgEn.dat. For MOD versions of game I think it is necessary to rename in addition SolomonsApr1943MsgEn.dat into SolomonsApr1943MsgRu.dat. So it is necessary to arrive with all files of messages from Juri campaign.

Think I need your support...

Yesterday I try the first mission of the IJA sub campaign.After a hard fight in my brave Hayabusa I get wounded and bail out behind my own lines.

I close the mission and get a "Dgen has encounter an error and must be closed message". I open Il2 again go to the mission sceen,and all was blank! No brief,no map. I´m not sure but I know this "after wounded" issue from the past with the old DGen. This error kills me more than often many campaigns in the past years....

I don´t know, but comes this error from this old bug or it is a compatible issue? I´m on HSFX6 now and I copyed all the "Files for mod users" into your DGen folder before the installation.

I can't see anything suspicious in  the log file. Looks like DGen has just quit working. I doubt that it is a HSFX problem, the campaigns should work in HSFX.
It might be an issue in the 1.0.1.0 version of DGen. I think in Asura's DGen thread others had reported similar issues after being wounded in a mission.

In the 1.0.1.0 version there are also issues with some of the airstart missions in my Solomons campaigns. For me the campaigns work better when I use the older 1.0.0.7 version.

I would like to try this very much but was unsure if i found the right mod files. i am not able to speak or read russian so that the russian language forum is not at all easy to understand for sure.

I found two working links in the long 40 page topic and am dl them:

DGen_Mod 1.0.0.1 which is 7.0 MB

DGen_Mod 2.0.0.0 beta which is 834 KB and i saw notes that the missoin breifings were still in russian.

can you help me find the correct links please? I would very much like to see this in action. I am using, or will be using 4.10.1 and DBW 1.71 hopefully.

2.0.0.0 beta is just a test version, that still has many bugs. The last official version was 1.0.1.0.

Unfortunatly there is a bug in 1.0.1.0 that is causing problems in my Solomons campaigns. I would suggest to wait for the final 2.0 version of DGen and the 1.1. rework of my Solomons campaigns, before you start playing it. Nonetheless you can use 1.0.1.0 to take a first look at the campaigns, but you will encounter problems in missions where planes start in the air and not at airfields.

I think I found a way to make my Solomons campaigns fully playable till the next official DGen version gets released.

Step 1: Download and install DGen 1.0.1.0.

Step 2: Backup the 1.0.1.0 DGen.exe file in the Il-2 main folder.

Step 3: Download this older DGen.exe version and put it in the games main folder.

The older DGen.exe version works better with my campaigns, although there could be problems with other DGen campaigns.

My Uncle flew with the Black Sheep in the Slot and i heard much about it from him and I have been hoping to see this era of the war and your campaign looks very interesting and well done. IL2 is a remarkable platform for this work and among the most successful so far in conveying the events of that remarkable time. It would not be possible without the determined work by yourself and all the others that have made these advances possible.   Well done.

As my old flight instructor used to say, Blue Side Up!  (referring to the old paint liveries on our old Navy and marine planes with a Dark Blue topside and pale underneath)...keep the plane right side up and at least you will have a good view as you go down :)

OH i thought i better ask, do we need to use Pacific Fighters to get the map for this area? or is it included in the UP3 super pack?  I saw a really nice map setting of Barakoma over on the French Check 6 site for the .09 version of the updates but was not sure if that would even work on 4.10.1. Anway, just wanted to check about the maps.

If you are using UP3 or the latest unmodded version of the game you have everything you need. If you want to play the Solomon campaigns in the modded version of the game, you have to install the 'files for mod users' included in the download.

The career runs fine until I get to the end of one section like moving from one phase of Guadalcanal Campaign to another....  It then hangs up and he next mission in the new phase is not available.... just blank with no new mission.

Any ideas?  Did I not install something right?

Post the last lines of the Dgen_mod and/or Dgen_mod_proc log files that are created during the failed mission in the games main folder. If you here a 'beep' and a DGen_modError file is created post the last lines of this file too.

Juri - thank you for the reply.  The game seems to hang and never gets to an end point or beep.   I have to control-alt-del and end the program to get out of it but when I go back to the campaign it looks like it moved to the next date but no mission is available.... this program hang is only at the end of a phase.  Will there still be some file that I can capture and share with you?  Can you point me to where the log files are located.

If log files are created, they are in the games main folder, the same place where the DGen.exe file is. Are you playing the game in the modded version of the game? If yes, you should test if the same problem occures when you play it in the unmodded game.

You are using the old DGen by Starshoy. The campaigns will only work with Asura's new DGen.

I am not sure if my Solomons campaigns are fully compatible with the latest DGen version. I will update the campaigns when Asura releases the next DGen version.

What doesn't work for you?

Starting the campaigns should work, but I know that there are a number of smaller issues caused by the changes to the calculation of fuel consumption and the waypoint system in 2.0.1.0.

Thank you for your help. I came to the same conclusion after continued poking around with it.

I was able to get the Solomons campaign to generate a mission but I haven't actually flown it yet.

With which version of the DGen mod is the current campaign known to be compatible?

It was initially done for 1.0.7.0, but this version is no longer available. I think most of it will work with DGen 2.0.1.0, but you might encounter problems during some sub-campaigns.

I already have an unreleased version for 2.0.1.0, but the official release has to wait till Asura finishes the next DGen version, that will fix a number of issues.
Maybe I will also wait for the release of Team Daidalos 4.13 patch, because I like to add the E13A and B-24D to the campaigns.

Sorry for the late reply.

I am no longer playing Il-2 1946, so I have no idea with which of the latest versions of the game the campaign is compatible. Maybe someone else can comment on this.

If the campaign doesn't run in any of the latest game versions, it's probably better to delete the download link.
