Tip:
- Fritz-X Rocket it is better to parameterize a altitude at ~1500m !
- HS-293 Rocket : The altitude does not matter. But this rocket is more effective against large ships (CA/BB/CV) !

I am being thick here, I dropped the file for the 4.10 version into the folder for the 4.09 version.
I can see the aircraft but have no cockpit
What have I missed, I do not see another file Do217 to replace in 4.09 with the 4.10 version...if you get me.

Place your -06_Do-217 etc. mod folder inside your MODS folder (#SAS folder if you are running a SAS ModAct 3.6 game). Then place the content of the 410FM file for the Do-217 inside your _06_Do-217 mod folder (just the classfile contained in it) and click 'yes' to overwrite

                    Thank you for that, yes I used 7zip to put the files in a temp folder, the main Do folder went in SAS folder as normal, I then did the same with the file for 4.10
Put it across and was asked to confirm overwrite, (wasn't asked firs time), but no cockpit.

Will get latest buttons, but sure its the same and find an update to my Diff fm which also resides in SAS folder.

Well I've done as instructed twice with no change, i.e. no cockpit.
bUTTONS 9.3.7  and Diff fm that I downloaded as replacment caused my game to stop loading aircraft, so went back to my Diff fm of 2010.
Any assistance appreciated

If you were not asked to overwrite the classfile 'Do217' the first time, then you must have put something in a wrong place somewhere along the line.

Start all over again. Make sure that you place the unzipped folder called '_06__Do-217K-1_for409_v2' in your MODS or #DBW folder. Make sure the directory structure is thus:

#DBW/_06__Do-217K-1_for409_v2/3do

Now copy the file for the 4.101 version, which is called 'Do217' and copy it into this directory:

#DBW/_06__Do-217K-1_for409_v2/3do

You should then be asked to overwrite or not ... answer yes.

That is all. If you're somewhat new at this then a good tip is to remember that when you unzip the mod plane files, the second directory in the structure should always be the '3do' directory ... which means that if it is not second but third, then the plane will not work.

#DBW/<new plane directory>/3do .....

Hello Epervier !
Got your beautiful Do-217K installed o.k. (4.09m+up2).  Made a mission on the Channel but the mission gives this message when i try to load it :
"Mission Loading failed: Mesh 3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/mono Sim not created"
Obviously i have got something wrong,  can you suggest/help a fix   :'(

Hi Agracier,
                    Yep wiped the file from the first installation, did it again and the file structure is as you said, still the same problem, no cockpit and the plane is like AI,
Can you direct me to the latest Diff_fm, the one I have is older and I cannot seem to find a newer one looking in the mods/tool section.

I confirm I have 4.101 and generally have no problems with these, the only other one that does not work  - like this is the fokker twin boom fighter,
I will take some time later to try fresh copies, got a heating system being put in so place is a bit hectic.

Thanking you for you excellent explanation and patience....really fancied this aircraft congrats to the modders a fine looking job, I'll get there

Do you have DBW installed? If yes, you don't need the diffm, it's included in the jetwar files. Same applies for SAS ModAct3.6. So, if you have any of these and the diffm in your mods (SAS, DBW) folders disable it.

Thankyou for the Diff fm, no difference. You gentlemen have been most helpful, sadly I will have to break off and get some real world work done on the heating installation to avoid becoming KIA in my own house. Will come back to this later. Have a various copies of il2 to test with so will go have a go with them and come back if stuck. THANK YOU

The confusion is that 410 (4101) does not mean UP3 or DBW!
This aircraft is available AIOnly in the 410 (4101).
But there is controllable by UP3 and DBW.
My DIY so for 409, 410 (4101) but no UP3 and DBW !

Problem with the conversion.
Since version 1 the problem exists.
I can not find the solution ....
This is why I'm going to stop conversions bombers ... too boring to do!

Help. I have 4.09 with HSFX. put do217k file in JSGME ( used subfolder "Files" and placed 3do and files within). entered air ini, weapons, plane ru manually. Game crashes at 60% when loading. any ideas? also loaded diff_flight model mod - still crash.

Hi Epervier,
I dont know if this is a solution for the gunner problem but some time ago i have a problem with a mod i have downloaded.
The mod where only Msh. files and textures.
The problem i had was,when i fire up a rocket only one rocket flys and directly strait down into the ground.
and when i switch after that to the flyby-mode the plane goes crazy fast.
I have found out that there was a missing textur or a damaged msh file in the  3do/arms/Weaponxxx(dont remember the name) folder.
When i deleted this folder i can shoot my rockets as normal.
The same problem  i have long time ago with a plane, when it crashed the pilot flying in a fireball over the map.
The solution was a missing texture or msh. file of the pilot when i remember.
What you can check out is that you add other Mguns to the class files,i think the mguns you have added to the classfiles maybe have no msh. or missing texture file
or is not in the 409.

Unfortunately, there is no alarm in the log. The basic code is the same as the 410.
I changed/modified the code, I added/removed the "hooks"...
Nothing works!  :(

You need to know two things:
- I make conversions of aircraft (410 ==> 409 only), no creation of new aircraft!
- I know nothing, nothing, in 3D!

To those who patiently answered my questions last week about installing this aircraft,
I moved a spare copy of MOD3.06, 4.101 ETC onto the c drive put the Do-217 straight in, very nice flight deck and landed it straight off,,,ok a wee bit bumpy but didn't shed any bits....so that's a landing!

(If you can walk away from it...it's logged as a landing F/O Prune 1940) ;)

Okay, I can't seem to get the cockpit to appear, I've done all the entries properly for air.ini, plane_ru, and weapons_ru,  but for some reason I see the weapons loadout repeat itself even though it's only in the weapons_ru once. What did I do wrong?

eh heh... didn't have the objects thing high enough. looks great now.  :-[

I have only the AIR.INI in the game directory. I inserted the line there and put all stuff at Mods folder but game crashes >:(

The sounds have nothing to do with this Mod.
This is your original installation of IL-2, which gives the sound!
I personally use the original Mod Sound by Tiger_33 so I did not complain!

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you know this isn't fully 4.10.1 compatible. I know some might not use them anyway but this plane causes radio navigation beacons to be unusable/non-selectable in all aircraft.  :-\ I have the latest SAS modact and buttons and yes, everything is setup to use the radio navigation system. This isn't the only mod that causes this but thought you should know.

Hope it can be fixed as this really is a brilliant mod!  :)

The error of the turrets was mentioned long ago.
On the 217 it concerns only 409 users (I believe).
But this error is now in the 17Z (409 and 410).
I tried to correct the error no avail.
Now that 410 players are concerned ... there may be a solution.

Even putting the 217 to 100% IA, the shooters are as bad. So I do not think a mistake in Class!

I only have a 409 install.
the error with the turret (only shooting in one direction) is only in Do217 for 409!
The turrets of your converted Do17z for 409 are working perfect  for me.
But i have thought the turret of your converted Do217 and Do17z are the same? :-[
so why it works in Do17z and not in Do217? :-[
I only think it will be nice when the Do217 for 409 also have working turrets,maybe someone can help. :-\

I put this plane in DGEN by adding it to the europlanes.dat file and then put it in appropriate class files. I have done this successfully with many mod planes. However with this plane and it's companion DO-17s, DGEN sees them as Russian planes!! And therefore will not generate missions in any of the three types, Do-217K, Do-17-0 and DO-17-2!! The axis/allied indicator in the air.ini is set to '2' as it should be for these planes, designating them as Axis. But DGEN still wants them to be Russian!! There must be something subtle when a modder makes a plane that later DGEN will use to either get it right or get it wrong, aside from the air.ini setting. Anyone any idea what gives here??

I have just installe the last 7.0.60 beta in my 410 installation (the diffFM one) and even if I got it working flawless (really stunning the cockpits improvements) I need to ask a couple of information:

1) ATM I have your K1 and K2 installed in addition of the game K1 and K2 , so I have 4 DO217 entries in my air.ini: Are them supposed to work in this way among the stock version or they can sostitute the stock ones?

2) Do you plan to add the K3 Hs293 carrier in a future version?

Waiting for some explanation I repeat the great pleasure you're giving me with the great improvements you've done!!!

Ok, I have tested it and it flies great in the DBW 4.10. Great  8)

I have also tried using PA_Jeronimos fixes for his new Engine cowls, and his new wheels mod, using the previews 3D-model
which they were create for... but no luck - Those do not work on this new 3d-Model.
We will have to wait for another upgrade for these later.
But, it still is a very fine looking aircraft just as it is.

i have 4.09 installation with the SAS ModActivator 2.3 for 4.09 plus the last SAS 4.09 buttons,
all add-ons work perfectly except the Do-217. Seem missed in K-1 and K-2 the Disk1.tga, but not sure.

You never installed the mod or one of mod part of jeronimo?
There are a total of 4 files imperative to have:
Cobertes_Rodes1.tga
Disc1.tga
Cobertes_Rodes2.tga
Disc2.tga

These files belong to the mod "new wheels"!
I never put them to avoid that you have hundreds of duplicate files!
Especially since these files are "heavy"!

I have it flying now!  Only thing I need now is instructions on how to guide the Fritz-X!  I think my keys are set up wrong for this

I have keys set up for the X-4 air to air missile, and I can steer / guide this missile fine without any trouble.

But for some reason the Fritz-X and HS-293 only fly straight.  I assume it uses different keys?

Uh oh.....I see in the instructional videos uploaded to YouTube, it appears that the original Fritz-X should have been guided using the regular keys same as the X-4...When I drop those bombs, those keys continue to adjust the bomb sight, but from the video it looks like when the Fritz-X is in the air, those keys should maneuver the bomb instead?

Could there be something I am missing, some other mod required to make these work?

In the game you can actually see the indications of the bombing sight because the same keys are used.
PavNum 8 and 9 mainly!

However do a test... switch to external view... drop a Fritz and press continuously on one of the above mentioned keys... you will see the drone turning right or left...
So everything works !

Note: I hate these drones and the Do-17/215/217 are in AI in my game!

Is it the same keys as the X-4?

When I fire an X-4, I launch it with the "Rocket" key.  I use my arrow keys to steer the missile.

When I launch a Fritz-X or HS293, I do it with the "Bomb" key.  I use my arrows to make the bomb sight turn left and right, and the bomb/rocket just goes on its merry way without changing course!

I can confirm NO CONTROL of the dropped bombs!  They drop as unguided only.  It seems that the AI, however, has control.
It's almost like the game does not recognize that the guided bomb has been dropped.  I never get control.

I imagine I must have a mod somewhere that's causing a conflict, but for the life of me I cannot find it!  I don't have any other Fritz X or similar mods installed, or any other guided weapon mods.

I just tested.

I confirm that Adjust Sight Control Right/Left will not move Fritz-X or HS, it will move bomb sight to left or right.  The sight moves, the bomb does not.
Increase/Decrease sight altitude do not move Fritz-X or HS, but they adjust sight altitude.

When I try this, the FritzX or the HS goes straight in the direction it was launched.

If I push bombsight keys, the missile still goes straight...

I still can't get these bombs to move!!!!!

I try removing all mods, I try new keys, many many things!  Nothing works!

Its certainly 4.09...

I don't understand why X-4 missiles work, but Fritz-X and HS293 do not.  Is it possible to convert the Fritz-X and HS293 so it will guide using the same program as the X-4?

Maybe you have different words for VARIOUS and BOMB FLAPS in your "SETTINGS".

Without these settings, it is not possible to drop bombs on the Do 217.

But, maybe...  ;)

In 409 this Mod does not exist (to my knowledge) and it is mostly useless.
In 409 if the aircraft is not in the list of aircraft that must open the bomb bay doors (AircraftHotKeys.class), the doors will open automatically during the drop.  ;)

Note: the missiles are attached under the wings, which do not need to be opened...  :-X   ;)

For my game I "created" a "TypeBayDoor" type and modified the "AircraftHotKeys" Class to force all player planes to open the bomb bay.
Unfortunately this is not broadcastable.
It only takes one major mod to change this class to make everything incompatible.
Example:
- I use UV2 Mod Sound !
- I use new Tpes (TypeBayDoor & TypeFuelDump & TypeHasColl) !
- I use the level stabilizer !
- I use the "no view paratroopers" !
- I use the collimator on/off!

UV2, that is Tigers outstanding soundmod.

Without Tigers UV2 & 4.09 and UV3 & 4.10 #DBW, IL-2 is a lot more boring!

v.4.12 never interested me for many reasons and never enjoyed flying it.
