Title: CRC failed in fb_maps15.SFS ~ SOLVED
Post by: SAS~Riken on October 06, 2009, 12:04:56 PM
I downloaded the new 4.09m update from http://mission4today.com/index.php (http://mission4today.com/index.php) and it has me at a bind:
CRC failed in fb_maps15.SFS

I have downloaded several versions including from 1c and all either dropped me or have corrupted issues. the one at mission4today did downloaded (twice)completely at 100% for me, but is telling me that a single file is corrupted and if I use the 4.09b fb_maps15.SFS file, it locks up at 95%. If I leave it out, I get a CTD at 5%. I have looked and read all, but nothing is working for me.

I have the DVD version of 46 and installed everything as required. As I understand it, It can install over 4.09b or are they wrong on that?

Everything worked with 4.08m and 4.09b before this.
XP Home - SP3
ATI Radeon x1650PRO 512MB
4GB RAM

riken, not much can be done by the sounds of it, other than trying to download the patch again, unfortunately. :'(
but when you say it locks up at 5% or 95%, what version of what are you trying to load?
the modded 409m version? all correct entries done, steps followed?
If you did something else wrong with any of those steps, you might also get a 5% or 95% crash....

and yes, 409m can be installed over 4.09b.
its just that you're already trying to do things differently from the readme's, and i'm a bit worried that you might mess things up further... :-\

I did it by reinstalling the game fresh as well with the 4.08m upgrade, and then the new 4.09m upgrade. it's that fb_maps15.SFS file giving me trouble at this point. Using the 4.09b fb_maps15.SFS file is what makes it lock up at 95%. everything installed but that.

I am going to try another download. :-[ Stand by while I try to get it. Please note that it may take a couple of days to get one to download without dropping the download. I do have High speed. :)

Just to keep you in the loop. I have a download, but is un sure it it's like the other one I had. (Missing file). I am starting a new fresh loading of the game and will try it after I upload v4.08m.

Cross your fingers.

OK!!!!!! Got it going with the very helpful advise from Frankiek's post:
***********************************************************************
Just one little additional advice, set your conf.ini to log the loading of the game

[HotKey Console]
LOG=1
LOGTIME=1
LOGFILE=log.lst (you can choose the name that you like)
LOGKEEP=0 (with option =1 will keep all the logs and the file will quickly become very heavy)

the loading of the game will be logged on your log.lst file (or any other you have chosen). In case of a 60% (and in many cases of 70%) crash you can trace the loading error (flight model or other) and save a lot of time in investigating the cause.
***********************************************************************
You have to look for the Log.lst file in your main folder at the bottom. open it with word pad and scroll down to the bottom of the list to see what didn't load up so that you can fix it.

I do recommend that those who are having problems with any CDTs or lock ups to use ths.

Permission to rename this post to: CRC failed in fb_maps15.SFS ~SOLVED for the problem is resolved.

Thanks to all that helped. whether you knew it or not. Back to work on my skins and MODs now.
