I have a question.

I have installed the Tainan pack, I guess the will not be compatible with Japancats new pack, this is true?

In this case, it is necessary uninstall completely the Tainan pack? I like some planes of this pack...

What are the original Zeros entries of the sim? I no longer remember  :-[ :-[ :-[

You can always test. I had SAS repack of Tainan planes and these installed together in my tests and at least they loaded happily together.

Yep, first I think so, but then, there will Zeros repeated, redundant

And there will be  problems with the clash files?, both MODs have a lot of them

What are the lines for the air.ini,plane.ru and weapons.ru?

You must add those line (they're reported into ReadMe.txt) in the air.ini/plane.ru/weapons.ru files.
Be careful and backup the files first.

Hi! Excellent work!!!! I love your planes. Just a small bug about skins in oil cooler air intake. Look at pictures below. Second one is stock skin from default plane. It hasn´t got dark line from engine cover. Thanks, I really enjoy your work.

Where exactly do you put the A6M_Pack_Mapping tga files?

Nowhere, just delete them, those files are just for the skinners to know how a bmp file will be mapped on these zero models, so they can do new skins that fit properly.

I Love your new Zeke very much! I made some improvments for the spinners and props by using 3dsmax. but I have a little advice of the rotating prop textures, some plane's rotating prop textures seemed not corrected, for example,
The A6M2's quiescent prop colour is silvery white, but rotating prop textures colour are brown! They are not harmonious.
Do you have some interests to fix this problem?

Hi, as everybody I'me very happy with these works of art. What a beautiful pack.  :) There's only one question and I don't know to which to adress it to Japan Cat master of the Zero's or Cirx the brass balled POV doctor. When flying these beauties with 'wide view' - btw a very natural view - there is only part of the reticle visible.

Wanted just to thank you again, i´ve played around with these new Zeros and for the first time i had the feeling that those nasty P40 don´t outpace me in my Zero, like it was in reality - very good, thx a lot :)

Hi, I've got something odd; I've installed JC pack and in the QMB everything is ok; I can fly any plane with any loadout. But in missions where I want to use the A6M2-21 I'll get evry time the message: mission loading failed, weapons set 'default' is not registered in air.A6M2_21. And thats not a great problem when this is the plane you are going to fly, using the 'Arming screen' and choosing 'Default' and it works. But as this option can't be reached when your not flying this plane, its the end of the show. Anybody nay suggestions?  I've checked all the . ini lines twice and could not find anything wrong.

Addition: changing the loadout of the A6M2-21 to droptank everything work ok  ???

Yes, there was. A6M5b (Model 52b Otsu) had one light 7,7mm Type 97 MG in the right cowling and one heavy 13,2mm Type 3 MG in the left cowling. This was the first version to carry heavy machinegun(s) and the last to carry light one(s).

I have tried installing this with Ultrapack but getting nowhere.  I have copied files to JSGME but keeps crashing at 60%.  Can anyone write an idiots guide for installing this please.

 Does this pack updates aldo the default zeros? I have the feeling that yes, it does so...And it can be used for that with the 4.10 patch ;D

I haven't tried them yet in 4.09 but in 4.10 there are working great.  I had thought I had messed up my install of the night fighter, because shooting at bomber at night I could never get any hits.  I finally realized that I didn't have any 20mm hit effects installed so I installed one and could now see my hits.  ::)

I am flying these planes in 4.10 and they all seem to work fine. I have no problems with the night fighter on my system.

MGunType99No2si is the weapon made newly of JCats_Arms v2011.01.01.
MGunType99No2s"i" was removed a cartridge of MGunType99No2s

A hash file of MGunType99No2si is "5FEF74C2C34ADCAA".

Doesn't "5FEF74C2C34ADCAA" exist already in other MODS?

Hi japancat.I though i will add new breath to your fantastic work.I want revise my old A6M pack which was based on R_Target's skins.It is hell
of work to align old textures to new mapping but its possible as you see.Im really eye candy so all panel lines match everywhere
(front of wngs are good example).I planning to do lots of Tainan Kokutai shames on them.It will take me some time because i want to do
this as good as you made 3d for them,they deserved for good skins.Be patient skins will arrive.

ps.during my work i spoted shadow bugs on few 3d elements like propeller blades etc. but i dont have latest version i belive this is it what was repaired?

The skin , I suppose , are developed to use game markings , so the green insigna isn't a true insigna but a game insigna background....

IIRC in the book Japanese Markings of WW2, they're are an occasional A/C in it with only a halo or the red has mostly peeled & chipped off, leaving the paint underneath to show through. Off the top of my head, there's a Ki-61,a transport or bomber or two AFAICR with the Hinomaru 'Halo' only on the fuz.

A/C IJA/IJAAF preparation for painting & preping the paint equipment wasn't expedient at the local level, thousands of KM away from home standards. Offen paint was painted straight onto old paint with little cleaning, sanding or keying in.
Navy A/C generally had a slightly better finish due to different paints & maratime specifc paints & coatings, but as the war progressed, they too became a little thinner & hence more chipped/worn/torn/flakey etc as chemical, oil & metal/element paint additives were used for more important processes & usages elsewhere.

I have hope this skins will be realise soon.

Green is just pattern under In game markings.I did this for grey Zeros because i noticed
red is darker because markings have some transparency  and it looks way better(more realistic).

I have no clue how to realise Default Skins Pack.I think the best option is to wait what exactly will be included in UP 3.0 like Crazyflak said there is more skins than forlders for them in original Zero Pack.I made skin for any single vesion, this alows to use more proper skins in some scenarios.All skins were send to Crazyflak and to Japancat.Please be a little more patient, i bet these guys will know what to do with them :)

Since we know what is included in UP 3.0 i request RFM as addon to UP 3.0.Be adviced.All these default skins works better with McWolf decal shine MOD.Default markings on japanese planes in UP 3.0 are not right,they using white hinomaru outline even under wings.I think someone reduced J marking from 2 types to only one.Like i said if you wish to have good lookin zeros install McWolf decals.

With permission of Japancat, we could release the rabaul add on, what do you say JC? I mean the Rabauls with separated 3d folder as you sent us. Special cockpits can be associated later.

For the MARKINGS issue: I believe most of the excellent decals add on made by Cirx based on forgotten country mod had to be retired at last minute of release because problems with MDS code. So what you see is not the final state of decals. This will be fixed, be patient ;)

I,m having some slight zeros confusion. if i understand this there are now 3 diff packs of the a6m series. 1. game originals, 2 japan cats awesome pack and 3, tainain mod pack. What is giving me minor headache is air ini are diff and skins. Which pack is in UP3? I see tainan nik and ki-43 but the zeroes are japan cats?? Im now in the middle of going thru old missions updating them to UP3 level and finding lots of air ini entries to change.

I have a problem in my 4.101 install (yes i know - "it's not for that version"):
The landing gear lowers (in fact raises) upwards through the wings!

Could you please tell me which classfile controls this, so I can onljy disable that one (or those)...

You've installed the wrong version of the "Landing gear damage mod".

You need to install the version intended for the new Zeros.

In fact, the current version of the "Landing gear damage mod" is only intended for 4.09.

Ps. This Zero pack works perfectly fine in 4.101.

Thank you, JapanCat for your work. I have an A6M32 aboard carrier!  8) That's something I have always wanted.I love the Rabaul models but am I the only one to notice the engine vent lines, just in front of the cockpit, are to far forward? The other 22 and 32 models are correct, only the Rabaul models have the vent in the same place as a model 21.

Don't want to sound as complaining as I am really grateful for your work, just wondering if it's an oversight. ;)

Oh, I am using the Zeros from this thread in UP20.1

Anyway even if posting a direct link to his work is disliked to JCats (Rightly he can decide all what he want about shareing modality of his works!!!) Does this pack have a zero with 4 20mm canons In it , saburo sakai describes in his book about attacking a B-29 at the end of the war with a zero with such a armament.

I've had a bugger of a time with 4.12.2 and sas modact 5.3.
At first I put everything in like normal air.ini, plane, weapons properties.
Got a crash at first and that was including the Tony's.
Read here about the Tony's removed all from game got it working again.
Re installed just the zero pack and weapons and air.ini, weapon and plane properties and still getting a crash.

What's your secret Bravo?

Also what's with the little characters in 4 air.ini entries.

You can download all of J cats mods in his blog. It is quite easy to do.

Well just nailed the zero pack and weapons  :D
Typically it was human error after 3 unsuccessful attempts.
I didn't take out the A6M pack folder out of the original dated folder DOOOH!
I also changed the weapons folder name to not include the latest date.
Now on to J Cats new cockpit which I see will easily slot into the cockpits folder with the other cockpit folders.
Will see how it goes  ;D
As stated as another question void folder I think in skins but it wont let me add it as it has the same name in skins.

I'm betting the problem lies with the landing gear damage mod. Remove the landing gear damage mod and check if it solves the problem.

The tailhook of A6M8-54 doesn't seem to work, as it would fail to stop & fall right off the deck of default carriers when attempting to land.

I have not done any research on how certain details looked like on these aircraft series (I have books - but lack the time to read them),
but I have looked at the aircraft files and it seems some details you are questioning about are coming from the "alpha-channel" on the DEFAULT Skins.

They are in the "summer" folder and the main skin1o.tgb (size 1024x1024) , paint it out if you wish and leave the rest as it is.
Save the file with the same name and size...  then do 3 more saves for the other size skins 512x512.... 128x128 ... 32x32.
Test the aircraft in your game to see if these changes are noticeable.
If all is good to your desired effect and details, do the same thing with any other aircraft version which has this detail.
It´s very easy.

 As far as I can notice from the many aircraft in the photos, these details of the side air vents are visible, but
the aircraft do have radio masts for the antenna.
Perhaps what you mention is a field-mod of some type?
I do not know.

thanks for that quick answeer... actually, what could be great is to get rid of all the ejection holes and of the gaz vents on the side of the fuselage...
they're oversized as we can see if we compare with the picture you've added and as I paint them on the skin (trying to get the right size) we don' t need them... if you could that, it'll be great (I'm not very confortable with this kind of manipulation)

know where exactly these changes are made on the aircraft skin?

This would be helpful, because then these changes on the skin art can also be adapted to the model
itself (on the Alpha channel)... if the "alpha-channel" is simply removed from the Default skin, then the skin itself
will no longer be of use to the many people already using this aircraft. Only a few people will add these changes to
their modded-game.
 It is a very dificult decision to make, let me explain why.
I have also done such changes to make the Junkers Ju-52 aircraft to have the proper looking windows on the default skins,
but the hundreds of skins already available and being used by everyone, sometimes do not match these changes.
The skins themselves will have to be re-painted around the window areas to have them "fit into" the default window changes done.
The skins I have done for it and posted here, already have these changes to fit these aircraft "default skin" and I have changed for
my personal game some of the skins already available from other artists - BUT this is for my personal game.
Those skins will never be posted for the general public because of the respect I have for other artists work. I have only changed slightly
the colors and details wround their windows from their skins to fit better into the changes I have made in my default skin (window aread).

Now as for the changes on these Japanese A6M-series , keep in mind the changes that will have to be done to the many other skins
already created and posted throughout the world and being used by everyone.
This changing in the default skins to fit your version of the skin-art you are creating, would be more for a personal use game-mod.
Not many people will be willing to change their game aircraft just to fit your personal skins.   
This is a FACT (no bullshit)- no matter how correct in detail your skin may be, people are just not willing to change their game just
because your skins are "very historically correct". They would prefer to continue using their old (original) aircraft and the many skins already
being downloaded everywhere.
It is a sad fact, but that is the real truth.... none of that "alternative facts" crap as told by Kellyanne Conway  :D

I can make these changes to your default aircraft skins (All of them if you wish) and send them out to you for personal use (via pm).
But keep in mind that you will also have to create 50 NEW skins (historically correct) to also fit into all of the 50 aircraft models.
If later you wish to post these changes, it is up to you, you have my permission to use them or post as you wish, but keep in mind
that not many people will be willing to change all of their game default skins to fit just your skins  ;)

One thing I personally did not understand , is the reasons why these default skins were first posted with a Green-colored roundel, instead
of the usual Red circle version (Japanese Hinomaru insignia). But I left them as they were.

Anyway, send me the new skins so I can see what exactly are the new changes.
Perhaps your new skins can be adapted to this mod-aircraft default skins.

Yes. It is.

A6M2 Model11, A6M5c Model52c, A6M7 Model62, A6M7 Model63 and A6M8 Model54 haven't tail hooks.
Landing on carriers using theese planes is your own risk...
To increase your chances use carriers with a long flight deck (Taiho, for example).

What type of game do you use?
B.A.T. WAW, SAS ModAct 5.3 + A6M Pack or...?
Modact 6.4 for 4.13.4

In my B.A.T. WAW install and SAS ModAct 5.3 + A6M Pack (with JapanCat Arms v2011.01.01 of course) I have only non modded 250 kg bomb for all A6M types...
I suppose that on this screenshot is updated 250Kg bomb from JapanCat Arms v2011.01.01... Right?
Also in the SAS ModAct 5.3 version 150 l. and 300 l. droptanks are dark grey (as in non modded game), while in B.A.T. WAW they are light grey...
What could be the problems ?

Another question:
Is it possible to add 2 x150 l. droptanks to A6M2 Model 21 Late and A6M5 Model 52b Otsu weapons ?

I made some tests and I have to say that changing the design of the engine cooling vents in the"Alpha_Channel" layer
will not do any good.
The skin will show a cut-out area - but it will also let the viewer see the other side of the aircraft or even the sky.

So this option is not good.
The best way to show whatever new design you paint on your skins, is to simply remove the "alpha-channel" areas which
are painted in black. By painting these areas in White-color the aircraft will have a solid area. - Do not paint the entire alpha-channel
in white color, just this area around the engine air cooling vents.

I have made a test by painting in the default skin with my version of the engine cooling vents. I have also added the Japanese roundels from
eMel´s skin-template.

So, if you want the default skins to have this area to look solid, you will need to paint ALL the default skins "alpha-channels" and
and then save each skin in 1024x1024 size "skin1o.tgb", 512x512 "skin1o.tga", 128x128 "skin1p.tga"and 32x32 "skin1q.tga".
AND
also re-paint ALL the default 50+ skins to have this new detail on their engine sides , because those default skins do not have this painted on them.

Then it is possible to have the same look as in the WW2 photo

sorry for my mistake and congratulation kelso for this wonderfull improvement , very appreciated , in vpmod worked fine kelso many thanxs .what for my taste is very low is the effect off propeller how i  can  ingrease this effect kelso ? But the rest is wonderfull.

This is what Horikoshi Jiro had always wanted. Had Horikoshi had his way, this would be available by 1944, not the anemic A6M5, just in time for the Battle of the Philippine Sea.
I've modified my buttons file to enable the tailhook, but I have also created a new DiffFM (https://www.mediafire.com/file/e2d52w6xsfej674/A6M8_FM.7z/file) in case you do not wish to alter the oh-so-sacred buttons file, just unpack the two files contained within into the JCats_A6M folder, overwrite when prompted, and you're ready to land on a carrier.
