The February 21, 1943, two P-40 fighters took off five Hurricanes Soviet Chupa basis to carry out a mission. One of the Hurricanes was piloted by Sergeant Boris Aleksandrovich Lazarev of 760 ° Mounting Hunting. During their flight they met Bf-109 aircraft being shot down in May 6/JG Sergeant Polyarnyi Lazarev near Krug.
The remains of Sgt Lazarev 22 were found in a swamp in exceptional condition 60 years after having fallen by the Great Mother Russia. It is believed to have been impacted afterthe Hurricane Sergeant Lazarev, he unbuckled his seat belt and tried to leave the machine in choppy but did not have the time. Probably the low altitude prevented Hurricane jump and crashed into a swamp. The pilot died from the blow to the chest that gave the panel.

If it's the right kind of swamp... They pulled a t34 out of one in Poland I think, almost useable (just needed the crap cleaned out). Think of lindow man. Pulled out of a bog, looked in pretty good nick for someone 5000 years old (or something like that)

Last time I saw this story online a few years ago, the decendants/relatives of the pilot was traced and notified, and the pilot was given a proper burial.
@Moggy: Lindow man was around 2000 years old, Iron Age era.

Woops, misstype on an alphanumeric keypad. Nevertheless, you can see how someone would last 60 years only.
Seems terribly sad though, to see what was his war grave dug up and his body just lying there.. I'm sure he'll get a decent proper burial... My great great grandad died with all hands on a submarine which was lost. If they did find it, I'd hope they didn't disturb it.

Why did they touch it? I think, yeah, he can now get a proper funeral, but STILL, WHY MOVE HIM? YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE DEAD.
Come to think of it... Then that means we can't bury dead people or move them.. But if I was them, I'd still go see what I could recover from the aircraft like stuff and souvenirs, wrong, but hey I'm being honest.... Medals... Well I don't know ._.

Some wreckages are designated as a War Grave themselves. For example, the lost wreckage of HMAS AE1, should they find it, has been the resting place of its entire crew since the First World War and should they find it, it would not be raised, or examined too much because it is a war grave itself.
Regardless of whether or not you should disturb something like that to rebury the dead properly (which isn't so bad), it seems very sad to see his corpse unceremoniously dumped on the ground to be photographed.

Found 55 years after the death of Soviet pilot Boris Lazarev. Fighter Hurricane Sergeant Lazarev from 760 Mixed Aviation Regiment 259 th Iyad 7 th IA Karelian Front was shot down in aerial combat on Feb. 21, 1943 German-pilot ace of the senior sergeant, Rudolf Muller from 6 Squadron "Ekspertenshtaffel" (6/JG5 «Expertenstaffel») 5th fighter squadron, Luftwaffe and fell into a swamp 40 kilometers from the city of Louhi Lithuanian SSR (the modern Republic of Karelia). The Soviet pilot had not had time to leave the plane and died in the moment of impact with the ground.
The plane with the remains of the pilot was hoisted out of the swamp in 1998, St. Petersburg search group "H". Marsh, gasoline and oil from the engine fighter was not allowed rot away the body of the deceased pilot. Only the pilot's face was smashed on the dashboard, and the feet were cut off. In the cockpit were found flying goggles and a homemade knife to put on it the inscription "Friend Bors in the second year of the war" on the waist belt pilot hung TT pistol, in the pockets of the overalls were discovered Chervonoarmijs'ka book, Komsomol card, two letters and bullets from the gun loose.
Sergeant Lazarev with rightful honors, was buried at the memorial military cemetery in the village of Chupa Loukhi region of Karelia. Details found the aircraft were used in the restoration of another found the Hurricane for the exposition of the Central Military History Museum at Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow. His family has not found.
