Title: Westland Lysander 1 WIP June 2017. [dbw 1.71] [4.12] [BAT WAW]
Post by: Mission_bug on June 03, 2017, 10:43:41 AM
Hello guys, this aircraft as you know has been in WIP for such a very long time that I bet you thought you would never
see a link, maybe you hoped there never would be one. ;)

(https://s14.postimg.cc/bgjq2r6pd/Free_French_1.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/vnx5v246l/)

Anyway, I have decided to upload the current work here as I now think it is getting near to what I hoped, a working
model that at least looks something close so I thought you might want to have a look. ;)

Please feel free to take a look, take the piss, tinker or whatever you wish.   Have a good laugh at me and my ugly
duckling as well while you are at it, I am sure it will be deserved. :D

Any constructive critique would be really appreciated as would any help and advice that will finally bring the project
to a conclusion but please be aware I upload this as it is now when it is still a long way from being fully functioning.

New link added 21st May 2020 for the full mod, this replaces the previous version and all the previous fixes
that have now been removed as they are incorporated along with my latest updates for the wheel covers.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/5kfw7i1a473o3tg/PS_Westland_Lysander_Final_WIP_build_R.C._updated_May_2020.7z/file

The link includes a template and some basic skins along with the source files if you feel the need to tinker.

B.A.T. users please use the link below:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/j8hgs6o6e3j4res/PS_Westland_Lysander_wheel_spat_alterations_for_BAT_users.7z/file

The full mod exists in B.A.T. already so the above link only adds this most recent update by me, see readme. ;)

(https://i.postimg.cc/fyHGbpvY/Ly-123.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/4H9LL8q3)

Additional changes since the last full update:

Andy, (SAS~vampire_pilot) added a hook to the TT version of the Lysander to allow it to tow a glider:

Fixes by Birdman to the reticle and gun alignment, also adds updates to the existing lod figures to give a better view at distance, no lods still though.

Reticle fix by 9ball previously in the thread was superseded by the above from Birdman.

There is now a set of files that enable you to change the GearL2_D0 and GearR2_D0 from the existing closed up version to one where the side panel of the wheel covers have been removed and further detailing added to include the mud scrapers.

Two folders are included 'GearL2_D0 and R2_D0 covers off' and 'GearL2_D0 and R2_D0 covers on', just copy and paste the two meshes inside for the option you want and allow to overwrite those already in each types plane folder, for example:
3do/plane/Lysander_1 (paste into each named folder if required).

(The process has been tested in my 4.12 with ModAct 5.30, I returned the files to the closed version you already have so you can decide yourself which aircraft to alter if any)

CowlingRingFlaps_D0 altered on the port side due to showing colour from another part when Finnish late skins were applied.

All the previous default skins were updated to include the new wheel cover changes as well as the previous skins for the PaintSchemes folder. Copy and paste the PaintSchemes folder and allow to overwrite your existing skins.  ( A small selection is included in the download, however, they should fit all versions so copy and paste any of those from the Lysander_1 folder into the others if you want.

Any skins you had transfered previously to other folders will need to be ovewritten also to allow the new paintwork to show on the new detail parts for the wheel covers.

Six new unpublished Finnish skins using the early Green, Brown and aluminium scheme with enlarged insignia, coded, insignia only and blank.

Please remove previous version as there have been numerous changes to this update.

Hello guys, this project has taken a long and hard road but it is thanks to all of your help and encouragement that it has got this far, I really appreciate that and hope
it has been worth the wait. 8)

Unfortunately I have a tendency to go off at a tangent and keep spending time getting other peoples stuff into the game, sadly I recently had to make a decision on just what time I could spend at my machine so decided to use it for this project alone and although it is not quite up to the level it needs to be it got to a point where I thought it could be used effectively as a game asset as it is so I released it yesterday finally to the public. :o

If nothing else it can be used for target practice. :D

I will continue to develop it when I can and there is still a way to go, it still needs all LODS and the cockpit needs a working instrument panel as well as my controls need orientating so they move, besides that all the rough edges need looking at and the template improving.

Eventually the hope is also to have opening cockpit canopies and working skis as well as learn how to make the damage textures myself and add the marking overlays, these things though are for another day and right now I need to have a break from it.

Take care all.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Thank you !!!

Downloaded it, installed it... works like a charm except one thing : has anyone tried to use the droptank (last loadout) ? result : mission loading null... and, when compared with the 2 other Lysanders which are in BAT, on armament screen, this famous droptanks looks completely different...

Hello Gaston, the drop tank was put in as a test but was a stock item as far as I can remember so should be okay. o_O

I should actually remove it as it was used to set up the hooks for the later version version that carried a tank on the centre line
and was used for dropping agents into occupied Europe, not necessary on this earlier aircraft as far as I know.

Anyway I will give it a test tomorrow and report back, thank you very much for the info, really appreciated. ;)

Post by: Mission_bug on June 05, 2017, 03:31:32 AM
Hello guys, there is now a new link in the first post that corrects the null error reported by Gaston. ;)

A typo on my part was the issue. :-[

This line was the culprit, I missed part of the entry:

a_lweaponslot[29] = new Aircraft._WeaponSlot(3, "FuelTank_Tank150gal", 1);

Once the Gun part was added all tests were okay:

a_lweaponslot[29] = new Aircraft._WeaponSlot(3, "FuelTankGun_Tank150gal", 1);

The updated java source file is in the download for anyone who wants to compare it with the earlier one.

In tests of the aircraft I had mainly only checked the actual bomb loads and because the tank was visible in
the arming screen I assumed all was okay, that said I have actually had it load in one of my game versions
so there is a possibility the 4.10 and 4.12 versions behave slightly differently in regard to typos or I had at
some stage made alterations to the java following tests where the tank had shown in game.

Anyway, thank you very much for bringing it to my attention Gaston, really appreciated. 8)

Hopefully there will be no further issues until I make further changes to the model again. :D

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

This is a new version PO_MAK_249RIP and is not yet fully complete, I had started making it when the Free Modding versions came out but have carried on with it ever since, just add in as you would any other new aircraft but make sure you have Dreamk's bomb pack in your install. ;)

The other existing Lysander aircraft will still be available to you as this is not a replacement for them but a separate mod, you can use which you prefer.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

'Dreamk: _Arms_British and _Arms_British_addenda are needed for the British bombs used'

Those packs should already be in your CUP install anyway I would think, sorry cannot check I now have BAT installed. :D

Hello guys, there is now a new update to this WIP in the first post. ;)

The model now has a ski undercarriage using my own 3D but utilising the java from a Gladiator.

The skis only show if a winter map is selected otherwise the normal wheels appear.

There are now summer, desert and winter folders with the appropriate camouflage tga for each, I have no photographs of British aircraft in a winter scheme so it uses one like Finland but with RAF insignia.

The template has been updated to include new lines with material, shadow and light effects added as well as new marking options.  It could be improved further but I leave the users to stamp there own style on things.

The template has been tidied up so that everything has its own particular folders within to make locating things easier for painters.

Some adjustment of the geometry was necessary to aid insignia placement, however, the result still leaves some difficult areas for the painter so please follow schemes I have alredy provide as they cover most types of camouflage and insignia positioning.  Moving some insignia even slightly will lead to deformation of the roundels.

(https://s26.postimg.cc/jnp440hm1/Towing_2.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/7yl4g1qn9/)

To do list:

Make canopies open.

All parts require lods.

Marking overlay meshes need making for the aircraft.

Add slots for Mk.II and III aircraft and alterations where necessary.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello guys, there is a further update now in the first post for you to try out. ;)

Continuing WIP 3rd December 2017 additions to this update:

Please remove previous version as there have been numerous changes to this update.

If you add the mod to your BAT WAW install you will need to name the folder 000_PS_Lysander_1 otherwise the new weapon options will not be available.

With this update I have added various fuel tanks certain versions of the Lysander used, 90 Gallon and a smaller version for the target towing aircraft that I made 75 Gallon as I had no information regarding the exact amount.

(https://s1.postimg.cc/8qf9c79jbj/2017.10.20_17-32-02.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/985b0sawwb/)

The smaller tank is a clone of the larger but slightly altered and with some alterations to the attachment parts so uses the same template, all use the LysanderArms texture in the Arms folder.

Added the fixture that would be used for target towing but the aircraft cannot perform that role it is there for visual appeal if you choose a TT skin.

(https://s1.postimg.cc/91235csu2n/2017.10.20_17-34-16.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/7y2dugx06z/)

In reality the large tank was fixed on the Special Duties aircraft but because of game limitations both tanks here are a drop tank, one option allows just the rack for the 90 Gallon version.

Both tanks are coloured to match the default scheme but options and colours will be altered for specific aircraft types when available.

A template is included if you wish to colour them yourself.

The tail wheel now sits correctly following a change of orientation of the CF_D0 to aid the canopy movement, it no longer sits to one side.

Front and rear canopies are operable by the player and start in the open position, you can control them from both positions but all will open and close.

For AI, the canopies close following take off, however, the gunner cockpit does not yet slide back if the aircraft is attacked, I will most likely have to re-build that area for it to operate as is usual in game but for now it is as it is.   If you occupy the rear cockpit of a AI controlled aircraft you will not be able to open it although you can use the gun, so for player use open up the canopy before selecting AI for the aircraft.

The front windows are in sections to allow the upward movement, however, from the external view the parts are not quite where they should be to stop the upper section appearing out side the aircraft fuselage when in the lowered position, from inside I was able to close them up closer as from the cockpit view you cannot see the lower fuselage with the usual FOV, smoke and mirrors my style.

The real aircraft had the side windows in three sections with a hinge between each, the window would articulate into the fuselage as it was moved down following a track on either side as far as I can see from photographs and I tried to emulate this as best as I could.

There is a option in gmax for animating, however, I do not know if that would work in Il-2, it is used by those making models for FSX but the SDK was intended for that simulator, with that option it might be possible to move the window vertical while at the same time rotating it gradually to move the window panels into place, an experiment for anothe time.

I owe a special thank you once again to Dreamk for trying to explain to me the process of canopy animation for Il-2, sadly I do not think I quite grasped exactly his explanations as thoroughly as I should.

To do list:

All parts require lods.

Marking overlay meshes need making for the aircraft.

Add slots for Mk.II and III aircraft and alterations where necessary.

Glad you are happy with it so far guys. 8)

What I consider the final version is now complete with each type represented in some way, once I get the chance to see it works okay I will inflict it
on the community as a whole and consider it project finished finally.

The project is meant to be representative of the family as a whole so each type might contain elements of various models so they are not necessarily
exact replicas faithfully representing each particular version.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello guys, there is now a link in the first post to what I think is now the final release of this aircraft. ;)

Some elements of the previous update have been altered and revert back to earlier versions as trying
to get some things functioning as I would have liked could have taken some time and I wanted to finally
bring the project to a close, only thing I did not try were the Lods, sorry guys but I just lack the will to
tackle that particular part of it as there have been no issues reported of it being detrimental to the model
in anyone's game so far.

As reported in the WIP thread there are now additional models and they now show different filters on
desert and CBI maps with the standard one for summer. :o

The above seems to be working okay in DBW 1,71 and BAT WAW so I think it is good to go.

I would like to thank all those who have supported, helped and encouraged this project along what has been a very long development road, I hope it was worth the effort and you all enjoyed following it and using the numerous updates.

Your help and encouragement and testing has been really appreciated. 8)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Tested in my BAT WAW3 and she works great. I have to say I LOVE the canopy rolling up and down. I would love to see that put to good use with some P-38's. Great work Pete. Thank you for this.

Good to know all is working in your installs Mark, thank you very much for the feed back, really appreciated. 8)

The canopy movement could be better, do not look to closely at it, to get anywhere close I had to divide the side windows into segments but because of the shape of things it is not quite right, hopefully though if you do not pay too much attention it is passable. ;)

Take care.

Hello Piotrek1, glad you have it working, however, from what you post of the weapon options it looks like you are missing one of the Dreamk British bomb packs, I list them in the readme.

If you have those then I also advised you name the folder so it sits higher in the folder hierarchy, already done for BAT but Istvan might have things in a different position. ;)

For most of the types this is what you should have:

16xCooper20lb
16xFlareMkI
4x112lbMkVI4xMkIIMarker
2x250lbAS_Mk14xMkIIMarker
4x120lbsEe

The SD should also have the above but no turret guns.
The TT is as it should be.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

The Lysander used two types of gunsight, the original iron sight is the bar you see in the centre.  I could not find any good reference to show whether both could be available at the same time on the aircraft like say a P-40 for instance so I left it up to individuals to hide one or other if they wanted using the hier.

I thought I mentioned it in the readme, maybe not. ;)

Hey Mission_Bug

Thanks for the quick answer, I just compared this with the one in BAT. There it looks like the gunsight in Hurricane.
The mod in BAT is of course older variant.
The plane itself flies fine and I like it very much. Thanks again for your work! ;D

Even though this plane is not perfect, you have spent so much time creating it and writing all the informative descriptions. And it's all for us :)

I absolutely admire your dedication. Mostly, I just download things and leave no comments below but this time I broke this rule because I think that you should know that your work is appreciated. :)

Thank you Mission_bug and have a nice day!!! :)

Hello Pete,
I still enjoy flying this plane,  I know you've spent a lot of time on this project, but if you ever come back to it, would you please consider adding a smoke dispenser and supply cointeners to Ly's weaponry?
I urgently need this weaponry to support the Maquis in occupied France. :P ;D

It was the SOE Secret agent Spies favorite aircraft  8)

In 1941 a new squadron, No. 138 (Special Duties), was formed to undertake missions for the Special Operations Executive to maintain clandestine contact with
the French Resistance.
Among its aircraft were Lysander Mk IIIs, which flew over and landed in occupied France. While general supply drops could be left to the rest of No. 138's aircraft,
the Lysander could insert and remove agents from the continent or retrieve Allied aircrew who had been shot down over occupied territory and had evaded capture.
For this role the Mk IIIs were fitted with a fixed ladder over the port side to hasten access to the rear cockpit and a large drop tank under the belly. In order to slip in
unobtrusively Lysanders were painted matte black (some early examples had brown/green camouflaged upper surfaces and later examples had grey/green upper surfaces)
operations almost always took place within a week of a full moon, as moonlight was essential for navigation. The aircraft undertook such duties until the liberation of
France in 1944.

Lysanders flew from secret airfields at Newmarket and later Tempsford, but used regular RAF stations to fuel-up for the actual crossing, particularly RAF Tangmere.
Flying without any navigation equipment other than a map and compass, Lysanders would land on short strips of land, such as fields, marked out by four or five torches.
Or to avoid having to land, the agent, wearing a special padded suit, stepped off at very low altitude and rolled to a stop on the field.
They were originally designed to carry one passenger in the rear cockpit, but for SOE use the rear cockpit was modified to carry two passengers in extreme discomfort in
case of urgent necessity.
The pilots of No. 138 and from early 1942, No. 161 Squadron transported 101 agents to and recovered 128 agents from Nazi-occupied Europe.

The Germans knew little about the British aircraft and wished to study one.
Soldiers captured an intact Lysander in March 1942 when its pilot was unable to destroy it after a crash, but a train hit the truck carrying the Lysander, destroying the cargo.
Too bad for the Germans  ;D

Hello Piotrek, at the moment health issues mean I spend very little time at the PC and the one project I am doing takes that time, sorry.

There are still numerous options including those you want, maybe I will have a look at what Dreamk has in his weapon packs once I finish what I am doing, no promises though, officially the project is done although I still need to add lods as well so who knows.

The java is in the pack if anyone wants to have a go, it would just mean finding the appropriate weapon and adding more options to the lists in the class, all the necessary hooks are in in the appropriate meshes on the winglets and fuselage, would be a good project for anyone new to java. ;)

I included a SOE version in the pack Max, and a civilian in the rear turret. :D

HI Mission_Bug,

Here’s a little fix to the Lysander for those who have reticles like the picture in barber’s reply#41.

The Reticle image has been updated and adjusted in size, position and color.
Adjusted Reticle mask position and depth to make functional.
Added dirtier glass.
The iron sight was not modified.

The Mod was tested in BAT 3.4 Linebacker, but may work in other Modpacks. (No promises!)
It is designed for Mission_Bug’s Lysander Mod only.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/x3f7s9wrqp8qvyh/Lysander_Series_Reticle_Rework.7z/file

Just drop into WAW3 folder.

I’d like to give a shout-out to WxTech for the detailed gun sight notes he provides
with his mods. These have provided all the know how I needed for this mod and
I thank him for sharing his knowledge with the community.

9ball.

_Arms_British and _Arms_British_addenda are needed for the British bombs used. Dreamk also provided much valuable technical advice through this and other projects on clips and turret workings.
Could you please kindly provide the links to download these weapon packs? I've searched for hours (while at work) in the forum and couldn't find anything that remotely resembles it.

It flies flawlessly, now I'll be able to fly as FAC on the Western Front & PTO, while my wife will cover me in her flight of P-47.

Hello guys, I have been sent a couple of files to improve certain aspects of the Lysander.  ;)

Here for your pleasure from Birdman, improves the existing gunsight fix and also changes the Lod
figures to improve the long distance view of the aircraft although there are still no lods:

(https://i.postimg.cc/MTpJdy33/2020-02-12-20-17-44.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/WDCy4Jv0)

The second is from Andy (SAS~vampire_pilot) and adds a hook to the TT version of the Lysander to allow it
to tow a glider:

(https://i.postimg.cc/tTjwMFSG/2020-02-13-18-13-37.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/hJ22JQR2)

Updated link in the first page added 14th February 2020.

These changes are already in BAT but the guys kindly sent me the links to allow the rest of you the opportunity
to improve the Lysander in your own game version, thank you very much to both, really appreciated. 8)

I had a issue getting the tow to work at first, I had the existing weapons mod active that shows my 3d hook, once
I changed to default all was good, after that I also found I could activate my 3d parts again as well through the
arming screen so it all looked the part. ;)

Take care.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello guys, I finally got around to doing some surgery on the wheel spats, been meaning to try this for a while now. ;)

been at it now for a week or so and continue to find issues, however, this is things so far:

(https://i.postimg.cc/xC97mtT8/Spats1.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/qtZjVcKH)

As you can see the interior is bare.

(https://i.postimg.cc/QCynRDgK/Spats2.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/0K7fwLB9)

After doing a Boolean cut to remove the side covers there were some issues to put right to
block a few holes, this itself meant a need to eventually re-map most of the mesh to sort
out some issues but to be honest they look better than I thought they might following such
a major carving up. :D

I have a folder now set above the existing one in both my 4.12 ModAct 5.30 install and in
my BAT game as well and each shows instead of the previous closed spats:

(https://i.postimg.cc/DZDMNFPJ/2020-05-18-09-26-17.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/dk267bXw)

(https://i.postimg.cc/905BTfBp/2020-05-17-19-20-34.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/gXsRbmQX)

(https://i.postimg.cc/1tQDvjL0/2020-05-18-10-10-58.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/PLSLx2fN)

I even got around to making some of the Finnish skins I have planned for like years, only three coded
early scheme so far as I began tinkering with the spats:

(https://i.postimg.cc/Sxscn8h4/2020-05-16-12-57-38.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/vcJ4j4T2)

So, the but, yes there is always one it seems, the real spats are boxed in to hide the guns and all the associated
equipment that is stuffed in there for real life purposes, however, to realise that and add a few adornments to the
rather sparse undercarriage will need additional meshes making and mapping to the existing textures which will
then require a re-paint of all the ones I already made for the original pack to include the added parts. :P

Are any of you interested in this modification?

Any thoughts please would be welcome as to whether they actually add anything and are therefore worth all the necessary
work to complete things, or even are you happy to just have them available as they are?

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Okay then, I will run with it oldschoolie and see where it goes. ;)

It is one of those things, if you make a start and then leave it to one side it just torments your mind until
you pick it up again and finish it. :D

So here we are, the well has been blanked off and work on the mud scraper begun:

(https://i.postimg.cc/SsbRP2Ch/Spats3.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/DW57Jzxj)

The scraper is a piece of bent steel with holes, not the best thing to replicate but a few Boolean
cuts and a deforming tool later we have something even if it does look a little rough around the
edges and everywhere else.

I could of used alpha cut holes if it had a separate texture, however, the idea is to attach it to
the existing spat mesh.

There are a few support rods here and there to do yet and then I will map it and see how it looks.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello again guys, yes I tend to agree it is a must to have the open spats as most photographs seem to show
aircraft without, particularly where mud is a major issue so I will press on. ;)

So, this is as best I can determine from the photographs I have of wartime aircraft, most preserved
examples are without the scrapers and do not necessarily have the rods supports:

(https://i.postimg.cc/NM37tqw5/Spats4.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/cgc87zCS)

The strengthening bars only seem to be on the inner side of the spat, from what I can see
the scraper goes all around but I cannot actually see if it attaches anywhere other than the
wheel centres but I might put a rod leading back into the spat.

Now the difficulty, finding space on the skin and then adding that mapping to all the defaults
and others I already uploaded.  I found a few areas on the top of the special ops version that
required some adjustment of the paint as it was not quite on the mapping so who knows what
I will find to correct as I go through things again, could be a long job. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello Pete, the option of uncovered wheels looks cool 8), I'm glad you still find time for this airplane, for me every improvement of this airplane means more joy of flying, so if you still find anything to improve in it, I will support you :).

Best Regards,
Piotrek

Glad you like the changes Piotrek, it is always more difficult to add further detail to what was supposed to be a finished model, however, there are those who say these things are never really complete so I guess on it goes. ;)

Here we are, the mapping done and waiting for the texture to be updated with the colours:

(https://i.postimg.cc/bYVT8QnJ/Spats5.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/rzWWNRQX)

The shape of the spats was never the best piece of geometry and cutting into that hasnot helped, however, here we
have something at least:

(https://i.postimg.cc/wvfhqp7P/Spats6.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/G8DBK6PJ)

Into the game:

(https://i.postimg.cc/k44bhpfy/Spats7.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/hJkvXpFJ)

(https://i.postimg.cc/brS2q2XD/Spats8.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/T5GP913f)

The idea now is to update the textures I already uploaded originally with the paint changes for
the new detail and then I need to make new defaults accordingly.

I will upload a complete new folder that will replace the original but that now includes the various fixes
kindly provided by others but will leave the existing spats as they are in the closed up mesh you have now.

A separate folder that can be loaded above that in your mod folder that just includes the new spats will
also be in the upload so you can test and then decide if you want the changed spats as a permanent change
or not, of course that separate folder can be added to the BAT WAW folder so you can enable the changes in
there as well.

You will be able to just use that folder to change between the two types if you do not want a permanent change or
to mess around in the main folder.

I suppose it will also be necessary for that separate folder to include the new defaults as well so that BAT users
are ready to go, obviously you will be able to alter things to your own liking in a personal install, however, any
permanent alterations in BAT will be up to Andy and the rest of the team.

There are no java changes so each of you should have no problems in whichever type of install you use, at least
that is the cunning plan so I hope things will be that way without issues. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Pete, your plans sound very interesting 8), I forgot to write in the previous post; I really liked the idea with skis, usually in the quick mission editor I set missions with summer camouflage so I don't remember :-[ if "my" Lysander also has skis, would this option be available too?

Hello Piotrek1, if you set the Lysander on a winter map the ski undercarriage will appear instead of wheels, however, that map must have winter set in the map load file so just because you see a winter scene does not necessarily mean the skis will appear as the map has to be set correctly in its folder. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Nice job with the wheel covers and mud scrapers!  Now, we need a MUD MOD haha!  ;D
I plan on doing Burma '42 campaign with this Lysander.  Maybe with the Indian Air Force.

Hello guys, there is now a new update for the full mod in the first post as well as a smaller link to enable you to add the changes to your B.A.T. install. ;)

Six new previously unpublished skins including Ly-123 here in the older Finnish scheme are included in both links:

(https://i.postimg.cc/fyHGbpvY/Ly-123.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/4H9LL8q3)

New defaults and files for the PaintSchemes folder are included as you will need to overwrite all the earlier versions
because the new bitmaps include areas painted for the wheel cover changes.

Please check the readme files in each link as there are differences for how the changes are handled for each link.

If you have the full mod already then please remove it and add the folder from the new link as it incorporates all
previous updates provided by me and other members, all older links have been removed.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello again guys, hope the install was good for you and caused no problems and glad you like the update, really appreciated. 8)

I was unsure how best to implement the wheel cover changes, maybe there could have been a java solution as per the load options but in the end I thought that most people would adopt one or other of the options to their own preference so went the way I have on this one, the change is not difficult the only problem would be if a set of missions wanted different options then you would need to remember to do the alteration before playing.

The hard one is for B.A.T. because if there is a update and the folder is overwritten then you have to install the mod again, maybe the team could add this change as a JSGME option, other than that it is how it is so I hope it is the right solution for all players. ;)

There are some more coded skins I want to do, this time they will be numbered versions of the later Finnish scheme and then I will leave it alone and return to my truck project, I have been astray long enough, then again I might try a few Greek Ansons if I can find enough information. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello guys, glad to know you both also like the changes, thank you very much, really appreciated. 8)

Amazed at how quickly and effectively you work!

Not so much that I do things quickly really, generally you will first see the project some weeks after I begin work on it, this alteration is no different, what happens is I take images as I go so appearances are deceptive because you guys see quite a few of those posted in quick succession long after they were actually done, I kind of take notes using pictures as I find it is usually better to convey the process that way sometimes rather than actually describe what has happened, especially if I am also trying to make a tutorial of some sort that might have to cross language boundaries.

Once I know I am going to run with a project I then tend to stick with it as health issues permit, I struggle to use my hands and arms for long periods so I tend to spend a lot of time thinking about how I am going to do it, as you see with some of the mess I make that is not always so successful.  Because I already prepared some images in advance that allows me to post at least something whenever I reply to the thread irrespective of whether I was actually able to do anything to it for a few days or not, it gives that sense of a effectively planned and executed work flow, all smoke and mirrors really. :D

Anyway, main thing is it keeps my mind active and if it also gives you guys some enjoyment in the game then all is good and I think well worth the all the aggravation and effort that goes into it. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Sometime today I hope to complete a set of numbered skins for Finnish aircraft, here is one:

(https://i.postimg.cc/jjjFtVCC/LY-116.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/Js9q52NW)

I had information for most of the Finnish aircraft, a collection of photographs and artwork and
have all but four of the aircraft available. ;)

Estonia ordered twelve, unfortunately they were never delivered, however, I have details from
a decal sheet that provides two schemes that could have been used so I will also include those
as rumours have persisted for years that either two Spitfires or two Lysanders were actually
complete and in their delivery colours but were subsequently retained by the British Government.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you al  the very best, Pete. ;D
