Hi friends of the SAS Gameserver,
Due to recent events where the server got stuck for a short period of time (just now it was stuck for about an hour, 6 different users tried to join and nobody said "beep" in the meantime) we've decided to start this thread where you can just drop a line in case you're experiencing any kind of trouble with our server.
Whatever it is, let us know here please, thanks!

am getting bother with loading missions too it loads mission then freezes up then launcher stops responding

As mentioned in the other thread:
Every now and then this can happen (happens to me maybe once every two weeks).
In that case all you have to do is to restart your game and reconnect to the server.
If that still doesn't help, could you please show us your logfile (log.lst) contents?

Hello, pilot friends,
I keep having problems with high pings (> 500 ms). The cause is still unknown. But it has the effect that I cannot be with you in these cases. That's too bad.

Not so much the SAS FAC server, but I'm finding that Gubi's TS server isn't online, or maybe my TS client is way too old...?

None of the latest versions work with XP. I've tried 3.
It's odd that if I don't apply any filters there's all sorts of open and active online servers listed otherwise.
Could it be there's a setting in your server that could be changed to allow older client versions access?
This is the reason I stopped using TS in FG and went to Mumble chat.

Well that bites big donkey dicks. Do this: PM [FAC]Ghost129er...although I own the TS site, he has been appointed administrator because he is quite a wiz. See if he can't help you out. He will sure try.
Great to have you aboard today...it was a lame show up...a number of cats had things to do, including myself in the final stages.
Coms make a big difference with the experience, as I'm quite sure you know.

For a split second I really thought you'd want to tell us that you still use XP.
Online.
But then I figured that it can't be true and you're just pulling us a leg.
No one with all his senses would connect an XP computer to the internet these days anymore.

According to TeamSpeak Team Statement (https://forum.teamspeak.com/threads/130203-Ts3-for-windows-xp), you should be able to connect to current version TeamSpeak Servers using the last supported TeamSpeak version for XP, which according to the comments is 3.0.19.4.

I have a strange little problem: today I tried to connect SAS server via Hyperlobby that was impossible.
After searching and testing I found out that if I have Fraps (3.4.7 demo) launched and Patch_Pack_301 activated I cannot connect, but if I connect directly via game (sas1946.rocks:21010) everything is fine. This happens only with SAS gameserver, with others servers without problems.
It's strange because two days ago I connected via Hyperlobby without any problem and since then I haven't changed a bit in my pc configuration and game configuration.
It's not serious but I'd like to know why of this mishap (I can always connect directly from the game but I prefer via Hyperlobby).
If anyone has any ideas....
PS: I would like to know if I can install "Instant Log Enhanced" with Patch_Pack_301 activated or if it is included in the Pack and I only need to make changes in conf.ini.

Just checked this and we are visible on Hyperlobby and I'm able to connect.

The server works like windows 10 after update o_O
After a few minutes of starting the mission it seems that there is a cut of connection. Here a fragment of the log if this can help (I don't know how to put attached piece so it's code - but short for the limit of 50000 characters).

Sorry for the trouble.
Our SSL certificate expired, the automatic renewal didn't work, the corresponding warning didn't go through IMAP (for the certificate being expired - *sigh*) and the manual renewal got stuck.
Shouldn't have been a big deal, but for safety reasons we've got a watchdog running that monitors the server activity, and I forgot to put that watchdog in chains for the time being, so the unhooked watchdog said "hey, there's something wrong here!" and restarted the server.
162 times.

The Server wasn't down, it just didn't have the latest Hotfix applied.
Unfortunately there have been two hotfixes in short sequence and due to the fact that the BoS devs hide their hotfix posts in discussion threads with 20+ pages, it's almost impossible for Server Operators to stay up to date with reasonable response times to such hotfixes.
I've told them a hundred times before, but in this point the Devs are ignorant as the anvil.
Just told them again, but I've got no hope anymore that they'll ever change their habit:

UP 3.4 Cassie, Patch 1, hotfix 4.
I connect, see the briefing, and can press all buttons. But I'm not able to select the home base. Clicking the icon - nothing.
I still managed to take a gunner seat through the "crew" button - sometimes, bomber gunner slots appeared there.
I tried two installations of UP 3.4: one on top of 4.12, and another one - on 4.13.
Now, I have this deja vu feeling... Years ago I encountered similar problems on some coop servers, but I can not remember the remedy.
So, probably the issue is not connected to UP or to the SAS server... or is it?

Yes, Ultrapack 3.4 Superpack. I tested offline in QMB and did not notice any issues so far.
By the way, cool missions on the SAS server, I appreciated the show from the gunner's seat. 8)

Alright. Just checked the server logs and you appear fine there, with Patch 1 and Hotfix 4 installed (on your first attempts 3 days ago, the hotfix was missing, but you got it installed later and it would not make any difference in this regard either).
Now that there's nothing on the server side that keeps you from choosing a home base, would you mind showing us your conf.ini and the logfile (log.lst) from an unsuccessful attempt?

Okay I see the issue.
What happens is this: Your screen is neither using a 16:9 scale nor a 4:3 one.
But that's the two proportions Ultrapack can deal with at the moment.
For the time being (before we proceed to Patch 2), the workaround is to click below or above the base icons - in case of the mission from your logfile for instance, I had to click about twice the base icon size below the S/E base in order to actually click the icon.
You can see the right spot by watching the cursor, it will change to from "arrow/hand" shape to a "cross" at clickable locations, see screenshots below.
I will take a look at this weird issue and will fix it in Patch 2.

Issue found.
It's from the ancient days of IL-2 4.10's missing support for wide (16:9) screens which, back in the days, was "cured" by the old "Ecran Wide" mod.
That mod however expected screens to precisely use a 16:9 aspect ratio.
In other words, there was support for 16:9 and 4:3, but nothing inbetween.
I've fixed this now, but I have to admit that this digs so deep into core GUI, HUD and 3D Render classes that I might have missed one or another spot affected, therefore please be prepared for some oddities in Patch 2 ;)
It's worth the effort nevertheless as we definitely have to get rid of these ancient aspect ratio limitations.

The server is currently stuck on one mission, and has been for around 7 hours.
If you attempt to join, you'll be presented with an eternal mission loading screen once it reaches 100%.
Trying to request another mission will start a vote, but won't ever change the mission.

IL-2 process has been restarted and everything is up and running again.
Reason for the crash: The "PipeLogger.exe" process, which is responsible for writing IL-2 log content to the disk, crashed.
This is the first time ever that I saw this happening.
Will keep watching it...

This evening I connected to the server mission loads well but then server tells me mission loaded and the screen hangs there the map page don't show up

There's been a temporary outage which settled by itself - or rather by our watchdog kicking in and restarting all server processes.
Currently everything points to a "user error" on server operator side.
Not your fault and not really ours either.
