Folks, for those of you that are replacing old P24 with the new one and have Epervier's ssp, don't forget to add the classfiles from Epervier's self-stationary P24 to the mod's folder

Great work. Would it be released on 4.09 (this new mod)? And another question from diffrent stock - why PZL- 24 in IL is slower than Lorie - 46?

FM_409 for this new planes :
See first post for link !

Just one comment for the creator of FM, buttons ...
The French Gnome-Rhone engines are original names: Gnome and Le Rhône !
Sometimes found in the FM, buttons name misspelled: Rhome
My 2 cents ! :)

My only question is why the default skins cannot have any markings.
Title: Re: PZL P24
Post by: agracier on June 01, 2012, 09:49:18 AM
My only question is why the default skins cannot have any markings.

Default skins are usually made without markings so the player can choose an in-game nationality without the roundels and tail markings or whatever being superimposed over an existing set of roundels on the default skin.

Not everyone uses finished specific skins and prefer to use defaults. Others hardly ever use defaults and like to have specific skins in missions.

No, no I mean that national markings never appear when the default skin is selected. (Is this only my problem as I understand?????)

In QMB there is a small switch which allows you to turn on markings or turn them on: it is on the arming screen.

In FMB it is also on the arming screen.

For God's shake agracier, we didn't discover IL-2 just now...I am completing in a month a decade of happy IL-2 flying...

(as you understand, the "markings on" switch in the arming screen is enabled and still no national markings on sight...)

Excelllent, 3D model and Kumpel cockpit with illumination (and FM somewhat improved?)!!!
Only one issue to correct: please turn off possibility of using flaps in it  ;D
And indeed using markings in default skins is impossible, but I think it's no problem (You can use attached or own skins).
In general: it is splendid!!
Regards, and thank You very much!!!

An PuW 50 would be more appropriate, even an Sc50 for Roumanian planes  :-\

Ok folks, link updated.Removed Flaperons,in fact they were planned but not present on produced aircrafts.Remove previous version and install new one.
About lack of game markings,i have removed them on purpose,in game markings are incorrect for some countries, thats why i`v made all these skins.
Leperemagloire:P24F/G use 100kg stock bombs and P24E use SC50 stock bombs as a lodaout.I dont have any info where Greeks get their bombs from (nowhere mentioned they bought bombs from Poland),for Romanians it was easier as they were axis they used german bombs so i used SC50.

Why?
This new version is very beautiful but she does not accept the use of markings or MatManager and some people may prefer to keep the old version. Which I am! ;)

I would also like to see a version with markings overlays. Then you can always turn off the markings when using skins with better markings in them, so adding markings overlays won't really cause any issues. If some countries have too incorrect markings in game, then just add different folders for those countries with correct markings in default skin.

I think that posting a template for this version would be even better ... this plane needs new skins. With a template you can make whatever nationality you want with little effort ...

The better way to have a good compromise for me is to have at least the numbers available by game engine on overlays as the roundels or others national mrkings can olways be painted correctly in position , dimension and fading on the skin....dedicated skin for numbers too mean a different skin for each plane with a great work for GPU and FPS drop....

Does using dedicated skins have an influence of fps? I thought using dedicated skins made no difference of cpu usage.

Now we have proper P.24 series beautifully modeled and with nice damage model. I just wonder whether she really felt so much heavier in air than P.11.

Maybe P.7 could be next to get a nice and light plane ;)

Post by: SAS~Loku on June 09, 2012, 12:34:57 PM
Increased wingload make her feel heavier.New engine, new armament all that increased weight compared to the P11.She was faster for the price of a bit worse maneuverability.

Hello, any chance to make it working in 4.11 (HSFX 6)?

Greetings

P.S. It works in HSFX6!
(Tested-only small problem with external engine sound - too quiet?)
You must only use PAL-AutoDiffFMHSFX6:

Title: Trouble in 4.09 with new PZL P24 pack
Post by: herbarnold99 on January 03, 2013, 05:00:35 PM
I'm not having luck getting this version to work in 4.09... the game loads but the planes don't visually show up in the QMB.

When I attempt to fly anyway, here's the error message:  "Mission Loading Failed: weapon set 'default' not registered in air.P_24A"

Any help from 4.09 rebels?

If you have a 4.10 install or a DBW, then simply download the files for the 4.10 installation. Forget about 4.09 completely.

Unzip the downloaded 4.10 for PZL24 zip into either your MODS folder or your #DBW folder depending upon which game install you have.

Then add the following lines to your air.ini file:

P_24a             air.P_24A 1                                   pl01  SUMMER
P_24b             air.P_24B 2                                   g01  SUMMER
P_24e             air.P_24E 2                                   g01  SUMMER
P_24f             air.P_24F 1                                   pl01  SUMMER
P_24g             air.P_24G 1                                   pl01  SUMMER

That is all there is to the install. The first times may be a bit daunting, but after several new plane installs, you'll see they all work in the same manner.

If you have DBW, you will already have the diff_FM mod, if you have a 4.10 install, check to see that it is installed.

Thanks agracier, but I'm one of those 4.09 dinosaurs/rebels/throwbacks...!

I appreciate the effort to help, though...

It's still the same principle - download the 4.09 version files, put the unzipped folder in your MODS folder, add the lines to your air.ini ... and for 4.09 especially, make sure you have the Diff_fm mod installed ... I bet this last is what you really need.

That's all. There is no difference in installing between 4.09 or 4.10 except for the download files themselves ...
Title: Re: PZL P24
Post by: herbarnold99 on January 31, 2013, 12:30:39 PM
Unfortunately the 4.09 file is only a 13.0 kB file of the "FM_409", and not the complete mod. (I do have the Diff_fm mod installed, and air.ini lines included properly...)

Try this:

install the 4.10 files, but then replace whatever FM_410 file you find in that folder (or of a similar name ) with the 13.0 kb FM_409 file you downloaded ... it is probably the fm for 4.09 ... but be sure to remove the FM_410 file ....

Well, I'm out of ideas after this ... sorry.

But just as an option, why not try a second install alongside your 4.09? Try out DBW for instance ... you can keep 4.09 as it is and still have another one, or two or even 10 other installs working as well ... I know the feeling of not wanting to upgrade to something newer, but with Il-2 you can have all the slices of cake at the same time ...

I have a small question. Why P-24 in the game is faster than the Boeing P-26 Peashooter? Judging by the to speed limits PZL both machines should be about 60 km / h an hour faster?

P24 performances based on datas from monography.

 sealevel/altitiude
A/B 325/410 km/h
E 325/408 km/h
F/G 340/430 km/h

In game performances from Il2 Compare

A little difference +/-5 km/h, not bad as for a game i think.

Not sure about others mod aircrafts FMs,maybe they need to be check.

Thanks for your reply. I look for some information about P-26 performance at different altitudes and compare with those in the game.

Regards

Mike

P24A/B/G has turkish skins as they were produced under license by the TFK factory.

Hello,
it seems compatible with 4.12.2 (with SAS Modact 5.3). So maybe to add icon of 4.12?
Although I'm not sure if DM is OK in 4.12 version (strange kind of disintegration with no debris, but maybe my crash was so spectacular ;-))))

nah!
Moth or two ago i've installed this aircraft + difffm onto 4.12 + modact, and i have 70%CTD...
I deleted all things related to p24 and diffFM and i still have 70%ctd...

So for some time now im playing old 4.10 from backup :P

That thing is fugly stock P11c from early il2/FB pretending to be a P7.

Well it might be a decent P-7 and P-11a?
And what about the promised RWD -14 Czapla?
P.S:And the old P-24 can could be used as a P-11G Koboz?

I have a question.
Is this mod is P.Z.L. P.7a or not.
Thank you for your response.

Of course not.
Please take a look at this:

http://www.aviastar.org/air/poland/pzl_p-7.php (http://www.aviastar.org/air/poland/pzl_p-7.php)

As Loku writes: it is fuckin' ugly early stock P.11c.
If so, You can be sure of it...

Greetings,
ls

How the hell could anyone land this?

You must be completely blind when the nose comes up.

hello! probably only my impression (maybe the hot sun on my head and on cpu :) ), but i make some test with (4.10)P.24G and stock P.11c in 4.13+modact, like this:
Veteran AI - 12 P.11c VS 12 P.24g => P.11 win 6-0 (+-2 in other tests)
Veteran AI - 12 CR 42 VS 12 P.24g => CR win 10-1 (+-2 in other tests)
Veteran AI - 12 CR VS 12 P.11 => usually italian biplanes win with a not so high margin

maybe the P.24 FM is not up to date after AI changes in lasts TD patches?

EDIT: with (4.09) P.24g i had a little better results: they usually win against stock P.11, and lose with little margin against CR... possible or it is "statistical randomness"?

bye and nice summer days! 8)

This plane works fine in 4.13 for me. However, it's incredibly hard to fly because there's no radiator control, and it overheats quickly with the only way to fix it being pulling the throttle back. I would assume historically the P.24 had radiator controls?
Title: Re: PZL P24
Post by: Dreamk on January 09, 2023, 10:25:37 AM
There was no radiator on the P24 - the engine was a Gnome and Rhone 14 (K or N according to versions) air cooled radial engine.
The long NACA cowling was a single unit (at the opposite of cowlings that have rear mobile part that enable to modify flux of air through the cowling.
With 4.13 this kind of trouble is more than frequent - Vasya has made quite a numbers of FM specifically for 4.13 in order to palliate to such bugs. Look for them on Aviaskins site.

The best thing is to try and contact Vasya. I see he was last active last Thursday here at SAS.

Thanks for giving this a glance..
Just playing one of the Greek campaigns, and it uses this plane.
I cannot get this plane to fly above, approximately, 10,800 ft.
In reality it should have a service ceiling of around 30,000 ft (9000m).
I'm flying it with dumbed down engine controls apart from the pitch control, but the AI's all seem to get up to 20,000+
I put Vasya's new FM into my #WAW as it is, assuming that BAT 4.2.2 HFX4 has this plane already included, and in the hope that this would give the correct performance.
In the new FM are those two folders: GUI, and the one in Russian, which means classes.
Will the game be able to read that folder name?

The gui and classes folders are there so you understand what Vasya did in this mod and would also allow you to modify further if you wish but they are not needed for the mod to run

In any case with complex engine management on only thing you can do is to reduce the mixture to 70-80% as you pass the 2,500-3000 meter as there is no multistage supercharger and no pitch control. I reached easily 5,000 meter then I stopped. AI always fly with optimal settings that's why always perfectly trimmed, never overheat and will always be able to go higher and faster than you.

That's as is.
I can't even get 2500m let alone 5000m.
Engine just starts to lose power and speed drops off rapidly by 10,800 ft (m?)
You can use the prop pitch as it's been added but that doesn't help.
Yes AI have all the fun.
Thanks.

On which model do you have problems reaching an altitude of 2500 m +?

Hi, I got it performing ok now.
I had not set up complex mgemt buttons properly, or understood BASIC PRINCIPLES of engine management.
I apologise for wasting your time.
All good.
