Four Days in June illustrates the Battle of Midway. This is not a standard layout single pilot campaign.  Instead it is a sequential series of missions that happened across the region over the course of the four day battle.  You may play this as a sequential campaign, where you get to see the videos and follow the whole story from several points of view, or as a single mission set found under US Navy.

You get to pilot a variety of aircraft on different mission types.  The reason for this is because of the ferocious nature of the engagement.  It is unlikely that the battle could have been sustained any longer; given the number of casualties on both sides.  Some of the missions are practically suicidal.  The men at Midway knew this at the time and still climbed into their aircraft.

As an enthusiasts visual feast these missions are a real treat.  We see here the mission debut of eMel's new template for Japancat's Zeros and RDDRs marvelous skins throughout the set.

For the US armed services this early stage of the war marked a period of transition.  It is notable that the hand-painted markings on so many TBDs, SBDs and Fighters, had such variety.  The aircrews also began to block out the 'meatball' in the centre of their stars with white paint, probably for easier airborne identification.

The resulting variety and quirkiness of the markings has been painstakingly researched and translated into the skins that RDDR has produced for this campaign.  Look closely and you can see that some of the wing roundels are even different sizes on the same aircraft!  My favourite features a Dauntless with a repaired aileron.  There was not enough time during the battle to paint the remaining section of roundel over the replacement part, so the marking is abruptly cut off!  This skin was one of many found by pouring over contemporary photographs.

In 412 FMB you can skin statics:  Which means that its worth taking a look around at the scenery.  Even the static B-17s wear Hawiian Depot Schemes, The Navy Transport C-47s look right too, as do the PBY's, Buffalos and Wildcats parked around the islands.  Talking of PBY's, Mikoyan99 remodelled the PBN to look like a proper PBY, while CWatson and Skipper added the Grumman Duck!

The ship builders; Asheshouse, Archie, Gio, Plowshare, Flakiten, Diving_Hawk and Western0221, once again provide all the historic naval action, taking the stock Il2 so much further.  Ships are not all easy to install though, and TFM-412's greatest benefit is the smooth integration of so many diverse fleet upgrades.

Hayate's depiction of the doomed Hornet TBD squadron is also brilliant, and shared with you here.  VT-8 torpedo squadron reached the Japanese carrier group on the morning of June 4th.  The commander, LtCdr John C Waldron, flying T-16, was the first to attack Kido Butai.  The Japanese fighters pounced on the easy targets and each of the American planes was shot down.  Only one man, Ensign George H Gay, survived the onslaught.  Through the remainder of the day, he would cling desperately to a seat cushion not daring to inflate his raft for fear that it would be spotted by the Japanese fleet which surrounded him.

This campaign, and others of this standard, are the reason for TFM-412.  As much as it is appreciated by many, 'The Full Monty' is often mis-understood as merely a modpack rather than a comprehensive toolbox for FMB.  Compiled by one whose specialty is mission building its purpose is to create and share campaigns like this:

Thanks to the prolific and skilled Il2 community; TFM-412 Campaigns make full use of many mods far removed from the standard Il2 game and even many highly modded Il2 installs.  I believe most modders make their stuff to be used, enjoyed and appreciated.  Nothing does this better than a proper set of detailed missions to put them into context.  Plenty of other flyers seem to agree, this is for you guys...

Wonderful campaign guys. I'm a few missions in and totally hooked. It's amazing how far mods have come since those first baby steps trying to get better sound for IL2. Thank you.

Not to be too critical but I know you like to get things right from a historical perspective and I see two inaccuracies w/ the Wildcats in the screenshots above:

- They are F4F3's and the US Navy had re-equipped all carrier squadrons w/ F4F4's prior to the battle of Midway.  The Marine squadron on Midway flew F4F3's
- The meatballs were all painted out by the time of the battle as were the red/white tail flashes

Hi all.

Installed campaign into CUP from Monty's hangar within the Hangar 19 web site.  Getting the following error message - Mission Loading Failed:'Midway/load.ini' Loading Error.  I see the maps in FMB.  Anyone have a fix?

I have this running in C.U.P. The only objects missing from TFM412 to get this to work in C.U.P. is this one (marked for 4.09/4.10 but it does work in 4.12):

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,27411.0.html

and the IJNCD_D106 from this pack:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,18113.0.html

Most of the ships from Gio's pack are included in C.U.P. but for some reason, the IJN DD's were omitted. As the required classfiles are included in the C.U.P. install, I found I only had to lift the folder 3do/ships/IJNCD_D106 from TFM412-Ships-Gio and place it in it's own folder in #WAW, together with the necessary .ini entries.

Hope this is useful.
