...i just clicked "resize to 600x800" or something like that when uploading them to imageshack... nothing sophisticaterated.

Wow these are really good, i can't seem to capture the 3d images yet, i think i have to many mods loaded which causes an error but i will sort it out, i was riding in the cockpit of a HE111 at night, cockpit lights on and searchlights glaring up.....amazing!

Cgagan...just a thought, you've probably looked at this but in FMB are your 'land brightness' levels pushed up to the max?

Go into FMB and along the left side top of page, you'll find a 'view' option, click on and a drop down list will have landscape on it, click on and it will give you a brightness level with a slider, hope this helps ;)

What i did was set the monitor brightness quite high and then went into FMB and played with the land brightness levels until i set it just right

You can also change it in MAPMODS/maps/_Tex/LandLight.mat, open with notepad and play around with the value like this:

[LightParams]
Ambient 0.2
Diffuse 3.0

Spinetti,
                   have you used Fraps to capture your screenshots?

  There is a problem with the algorythm used by Fraps to compress Video and JPG stills too. If you compare your screenshots with the rest we have published here (all of them taken with the PrintScreen of the game using the .jpg extension included in the MOD), you will not seen that "ghosting". This is because the algorythm is more balanced.

  For stills we have the internal ScreenShot method, the problem is with Video that we still have to cope with the way Fraps captures the compressed screens.

                         Pablo
Title: Some Green / Magenta samples
Post by: benitomuso on December 30, 2011, 04:12:22 AM
People,
               in the final release of v6 the filter selection option will be available. It works quite good. Here are the first Green / Magenta samples. You can see that the reds are much stronger than in Red / Cyan, but perhaps the image itself is less brighty.

  I'm concluding that the plastic glasses can fit better to your head and be more comfotable to wear, but their precision regarding the color tone is less than in the paper / film lenses. The film ones use highly accurate color filters used in theater and other equipment and are more respectful of pure colors. My Gren / Magenta lenses have a lot of residual ghost of the other image. Until now I was using some paper / film Red / Cyan and I got some plastic Red / Cyan and clearly the film ones were better in color separation.

  Regards,
                          Pablo

Herra,
             I'm back from a weekend on the beach. I will post the current version of the MOD.

  Your pictures seem to have a huge separation level. Perhaps good for your monitor / googles, but kind of extreme for general viewing in the 960x540 pix of your reduced pictures.

                      Pablo
Title: Re: Share a 3D Screen
Post by: Herra Tohtori on January 09, 2012, 08:55:45 PM
I'm using standard 6.5 cm separation values in both external and internal views. This is because it corresponds to typical human head being placed inside the game world, and this makes it quite realistic in that aspect. Smaller values would mean unrealistically small depth differences, while larger values would exaggerate the depth differences which I personally don't want in a game. Whether the image is scaled up or down in apparent size doesn't really change that fact, and this separation value also enables me to utilize German and certain other gun sights the way they were meant to be used.

I'm also using 2 degrees of convergence so that distant objects are separated on the screen, making them appear to be further.

I am aware that a lot of things also affect the perceived distance of objects, but I also prefer to show the images as I see them when using the mod. I don't know if there can be any "preferred" mode that could be universally superior, so I'm just showing what I'm seeing, and personally I like these settings. ;) It does take a bit of getting used to, and since convergence does not adjust when field of view is changed, large changes in zoom can be a bit jarring, but it's all pretty manageable after a bit of acclimatization. Or maybe I just have exceptionally versatile stereo perception, I dunno.

Also, I made the images into links to the original, so you can view them bigger simply by clicking them. I just used img width=960 tag to downscale them on the forum so that they don't disrupt the forum layout...

walker,
                  the screen is black in the link.

  A couple of days ago I was writting you about the videos. There is a big problem with the codecs used for video capturing. That "phantomised" image appears because the codec doesn't take into account the channel separation R / GB, so it mixes colors and so it makes less independent some points, creating phantom of the complementary colors in every channel.

  The same happens when you resize a steresocopic anaglyph picture. Only some programs that are special for stereoscopy resize an .mpg keeping color channel independency.

  For the video codecs I don't know if there exists someone able to cope with this particularity.

  Regards,
                             Pablo

It isn't black, it is a slide show but it is changing automatically. :)
If the internet is not so fast, it will change the slide before to load the screenshot.

Hey, Pablo.
Is there a way to show only one channel in full color and after that, to show only the other channel in full color too?
I'm thinking in to record a ntrk track and to make two videos, one for left channel e another for right channel and upload it in youtube 3D.
How could I do it?
Thank you, mate. :)

Title: Re: Share a 3D Screen
Post by: benitomuso on November 29, 2012, 04:09:13 AM
Santo,
              yes, it is possible. In fact, the current version of the MOD has compatibility with Quadro videocards (nVIDIA) which have direct absolutely parallel two buffer channels, and in that case it produces two full images but in different buffers for the left and the right channels. Then the video card mixes them to your convenience.

  It is completely possible to do what you request, but there are some considerations.

  Any video codec will process the frame sequence trying to set what typically are called "key frames", it means reference frames that they take as base and they save full detailed and later, a sequence of updates (only by zones and details) that are "corrections" to the key frame with the updated zones, but avoiding retransmitting full frames. As you could imagine, if you try to alternate frame by frame the images corresponding to left / right eyes, the image "seen" by the codec, will have differences big enough as possibly avoiding it from finding key frames and subsequent updates. If so probably the codec would not be able to compress video, or at least will have to cope with important problems.

  That's why many times you see that videos are generated in the side by side image (one channel in a horizontally narrowed frame to the left and the other to the right). But in this way, the two channels never update bubstancially (because any region of the screen never has too many changes from frame to frame).

  I really don't know much about recent video capture software, perhaps something has been developed to work with these day to day more frequent problems.

  The full framed full color left / right alternance can be perfectly implemented, and without much trouble. But I don't know how can it be taped efficiently let's say. The other eventual problem is if sometime your fps counter gets low. With anaglyph you still are safe, because you have a full image (red / cyan or whatever) always. In the other system you can see important flickering when the fps count is low.

  Regards,
                        Pablo

Yes, but I'm thinking in something more simple. :)
I will record a track in ntrk, just like we already do, when we are trying to make a intro video in the IL-2.
I will quit the game and change the conf.ini.
Then I will play this video in IL-2 just to capture the left view.
I will quit the game again and change the conf.ini and I will play the video again to capture the right view.
So, I will have two recorded 2D videos.
Then I can upload each video, separatelly in youtube, because there is an option to upload a 3D video with two 2D videos, one for the left view and one for the right view, and the youtube makes the 3D effect automatically.

How can I do to see only one view, left or right, and to ignore the other when flying a mission?

santobr.

Santo, just now I see your last post regaring this.

I think (it must be confirmed) that the proper way of doing what you suggest is this one:

First record a track with the next settings:

PAL3DFilterLeft=RGBA
PAL3DFilterRight=____

Then record the second one with this settings:

PAL3DFilterLeft=____
PAL3DFilterRight=RGBA

So in this way wou will have completely separated channels, being always pure and full rendered each one. If later you use any way of Stereordization, including the Youtube one, separated channels will be composed as different eyes without anaglyph.

Regards,
                           Pablo
