This is a great mod, greatly enhancing our sim's environment. I just installed it in my SAS ModAct 5.3 and everything appears and also works fine (haven't tested extensively). Many thanks for your offer,  8)

EDIT: It appears I was too haste to report no probs. The trains load fine, missions start OK and then freeze and crash. I also have this as a moving German train; are the "blanks" between carriages normal?

About the blank between the wagon, it could be normal, I had the same problem in HSFX 7 with the heavy railway gun. It appear just like in the picture when i place it in QMB. But when I press fly it's ok. Maybe you have the same bug.

i'm experiencing this same crash, as reported by cgagan.
after testing it in FMB, it's evident this crash happens once the AA starts firing.
fly a mission and fly over a friendly train, you'll see it should be fine.
so, something about the AA firing is causing the crash

Tested in a simple FMB mission. Run the German trains in the mission, no probs. Run the Russian trains, game runs for a few secs, freezes, then CTD.

I have installed WCats previous "New Train Mod"  versions and had no problems. (And have deleted those versions before the latest).

A very BIG THANK YOU for your work & for presenting it to all of us, all of these train visuals are quite impressive, my favourite being the new Russian Armoured Train.  The Siege of Sevastopol mission, amongst others, will now be that more realistic.

please can you fix it the new russian armored train for 4.12? When try shoot AA/AT game CTD. Rest trains work ok with your fix in 4.12 and in HSFX.

Copy the new Class file in the folder Mod accepting the crushing!

Warning!
I do not use the 412. So I made these Class without testing in a 412 game.
I hope it will work because it is the only thing I can do to help!

Gunny, this may help. Check your unzipped "NewTainmod" folder. Within that folder you may see another "NewTrainmod" folder. Copy that one into your #SAS folder (with the class files). Other than that, I can only suggest a re-install of the train mod. I got this working, no probs.

It is unusual for me to do something for the Imperialists ...  :P

I get a 70% CTD.
By the log files it says wagon 17 class is missing or can't find.
It is listed in the Stationary as it should be.
Class checked : ok
ini file checked : ok
Wagon17 ==> 3do/Trains/Wagon2 folder !

You get the armored train working by downloading again the mods with link on first page?
Because I download it and I add the fix Epervier made to get the the DCA working on other Platform in 4.12 but I have still the same bug with the armored train.

Game crash when enemy plane are close.

The listing for the German trains does not show Germany.
All the entries have German or Germany in the right places. Is this normal?

Looks normal.
I still have WIP version of German locomotive and passengers train installed but not yet final version with all other wagons and neither have 'German' or 'Germany' mentioned in any German trainset. Default or modded trains.
When you select one of them and click 'show' you will see German locomotive shows up.
For some reason it stays without 'German' or 'Germany' in front of it. In contrast to Russian trains.

If you want to have "German" in front of your train name (if I correctly understand your question), go in your technic _ru.properties and change the name of the train there (It work like plane_ru properties, it change only the name show in game).

Euh, when i set 18h30 on a desert map, i can see light. But if i'm come close to the train (allies or ennemy). It turn the light off to be more discret.

I am not able to download the latest version as the download fails when about half down loaded.
When I click resume it tries to resume but I then get the message this file cannot be downloaded.

These are superb thank you very much. If you have the time in the future do you think you may be able to look at the possibility of making some German flak trains or carriages? They were used quite extensivley by the Germans (and Russians). Here is some info.

and some pictures here of the German 88mm. It seems that two of these were mounted on raised platforms on top of a flat car, they were used to bolster defenses at factories, towns etc or moved onto the route of incoming raids. As they could be moved around they were fairly hard to track down or predict where they may turn up next.

Special: V1-V2 transport (just like in "The Bomber" Movie) Maybe a good idea for mission like "Find the special train")
Light transport: Car or light armored vehicles on train (Like Greyhound - puma - Stug - Diamond T US - ...)
Heavy tank transport: IS - KV - Tiger - Panther - ... (Just to have more than the T 34 and the Pz IIIJ. To represent the last years of war)

It's not only for the realism of the mission, but with trains of this quality, I'm sure to include them into one of my il-2 movie :)
I just have to wait the summer to have free time :)

Ps: The 88 mm Platform would be really nice ^^
I had never heard about so heavy AA gun on train.
That was only use as AA gun or for AT too

(Hope I don't kill the English language too much => first time without Google translate ^^)

I downloaded and extracted the folder and get confused.
I see a folder !!!_NewTrainMOD_v1.1
and a folder NEW_TRAIN_MOD_v1.1 which contains a folder !!!_NewTrainMOD_v1.1
Which one do I have to drop in #DBW?

as usually! The inner folder wich one contains at next the 3do folder!

Don't forget to delete the old things from the ".ini's" before.

It is a little bit searching but your ini's are clean then and you'll see all new trains and wagons.

(Before I saved the old ini's with a "-" in front.)

Got it working. Less problematic than expected.

But... I can't get the lights to work for some reason on my DBW 1.71 install.
As a test I fly at 02:00 AM, Russian plane and Russian locomotive + wagons on map and no lights.
Had already disabled the old VAS_TRAIN MOD_VER1.0 and old Russian train mod by Greif11 to avoid conflicts.

Any ideas?

You backed up your STD folder?  :P

Surely some mix up or error with the edited inis. :-\ Or maybe one of the folders not in the correct order, aka subfolder within, also a popular error.

The original Loks/ Tenders build on the maps will show the Crap!

And the 2nd problem is, in wcats wonderful trainmod the "russian" locomotive and tender is done in on piece.

What we need is (I'll hope it is possible) to disable the files from the original IL-2 locomotives and wagons!

wcats mod is the best trainmod ever here for IL-2, a wonderful work!

Any times ago I had a problem too with the trainmod made by "Stuka" on Cybies maps.

All Loks and wagons are showed up 90 degrees turned on the Railstations... ;)

With respect I wish from all mapmodders:

Please do not set any locomotives and wagons on your mapbuildings.

(I just feel uncomfortable while I write this, sorry, please forgive me.)

In your screenshots I see the Russian locomotive is mapped incorrectly.
With Wcat's mod I don't have that issue anymore luckily. I used to have it with Greif11 his locomotive version.
Something else I was wondering in relation to the 5 damaged locomotives. The 3th and 4th (Russian) in the objects list are actually the same, just a slight change in darkness. Is this intended or do I overlook something?

About the not working lights:
The used to work in the past with VAS_TRAIN MOD_VER1.0 and old Russian train mod by Greif11 combined. Since I have Wcat's mod (and of course disabled the previous light mod and locomotive) it stopped functioning.  And I have it as the first folder in #DBW.
Really got no clue.

But besides this I love this mod. The locomotives and wagons with trucks on it etc. and cilinders exhausting steam left and right.  8)

The only thing that would finish it off is animated wheels, rods, arms and bars.  :P

Hello all !
Got issues with a 4.09 version  , cannot create and load a .mis in the FMB ?
At last I can visualise this excellent mod through main game  ( already had missions installed with trains)
but when it's time  to create a new mission through FMB a non stop window invite me to register again and again
and so  I can't leave the editor with a registered .mis :  Java issue?
I have checked all my ini's to correct and everything is perfectly installed !
What do you think ?

But then the TRAIN MOD has overwritten some sections of it. I have to confirm it those lines were there before I applied the NEW TRAIN MOD.

Nice train, great mod.. but..,

On my SAS modact 5.3, engine mod 2.7, 4.12.2 game, on gib57 western 44 summer map, in FMB, at 09:10 hours, getting within half a kilometer of the train in my Spitfire Mk IXc, cause the game to freeze, then give me the "executable error". Event file doesn't say anything of use other then what time the game took a dump.

It seems version mismatching about "Gun" function between 4.09 vs 4.10~later.

None of the above mentioned causes the issue, but one of your "forgotten addons" does.

I'm trying to edit the textures on certain parts of the German locomotive (as in front of the boiler and cab sides) but the two tga. files corresponding to the locomotive's body textures do not have the aforementioned items in the image. Are these textures part of the mesh?

Just a quick note that I was getting errors about missing hooks on some locos, and so added them.

I also did some tweaks to a few classfiles, related to damage effects.

And I altered the behavior in terms of a damaged car blowing up its neighbor--if not the whole darned train! Now when you blow up a car, just that car is destroyed. Otherwise, it was just silly in the extreme to kill pretty much an entire train by taking out just one wagon.

I plan to tweak the headlight code so that instead of a 'hardwired' time that sets when on and off, I'll base this on the actual altitude of the Sun. My first instinct is to have lights on when the Sun is just below the horizon. The reason for this is that at middle and sub-Arctic latitudes, the times of sunset and sunrise vary enormously through the year.
