Here it is ! new and latest pack including now 8 maps :
UPDATE 08-07-2013 V2.20:
What's NEW v. 2.20 ?
This new update mainly includes bug fixes.
1- ALL MAPS:
Tex files: .tree.tga have been updated so that console message "WARNING: count=xxx" with forest=3 ([OpenGL] section in conf.ini) now no longer appear.
Take-off points slighly moved on some small airfields in order to avoid "off-limit" spawnings (cooperative missions) that could prevent AI planes to take off.
Missing "runaway" points added on Köln-Ostheim airfield.
2-WestFront40 :
-Some rail/road broken have been fixed (Gladbeck-HertogenBosch-Bruxelles).
-Soft hills added on west side of Arnhem town.
-A few trees & houses on sea (east coast of England) have been deleted.
3-WestFront44 :
-Hilversum airfield (north-west of Soesterberg) was activated.
-Eben-Emael area (south of Maastrich) becomes similar to other maps.
-Some rail/road broken have been fixed (Gladbeck-HertogenBosch).
4-WestFront Generics :
-Hilversum airfield (north-west of Soesterberg) was activated.
-Some rail/road broken have been fixed (Gladbeck-HertogenBosch).
ADDITIONS V2.10 :
1-Mini heights-fix merged in WestFront 39-45 maps.
What is fixed:
-Ground flatness on runways at Ursel & Wattisham AF.
-Cliffs Of Dover ;) : Dover castle looks now good and nomore "suspended" on steep slopes.
-WF40& WF44 maps : forest nearby airfields are now on soft hills that renders them more visible for low planes.
2-Dogfight missions with IA activity (HSFX 6,017 compatibilty),
Please check the planes availables in your game, opening the mission in FMB : for example, the « Sedan 1940 » mission recquires Bloch152, Caudron714, LeO451 & Do17z
Extra work in FMB may be needed to run well missions under DBW/UP3.
WHAT'S NEW (version 2.0) ?
-4 NEW GENERIC MAPS (seasonal pack) ; winter map appears less snowy than historical 1940 & 1944 maps. ( they were previously given to donators only, big thanks to them).
-3 brand new airfields : Florennes (gen & 1944) Wattisham (all) & Poix (all).
-Moorsele airfield added on WF40,
-Soft hills added west of Arnhem on WF44 map,
-Some useful WF40 airbases have been added on WF44 map.
-FIXED :
ANVERS Deurne 1944 has now concrete runways,
URSEL 1944 is now on a correct location with an historical scheme,
VENLO 1944 : forest and trees nearby runways have been deleted,
NIVELLES 1940 : trees that prevented planes to take off & land have been deleted
MARTLESHAM HEATH 1944 : concrete runways added,
Many roads/bridges have also been fixed
Only on GENERIC maps :
-Railway stations and railyards added at Anvers, Bruxelles, Lille, Ipswitch, Luxembourg, Köln & Düsseldorf (already present at Rotterdam &Duisburg)
-Take off points added on some grass airfields to allow 2 or 3 flights to take off simultaneously,
-Forests nearby airfields are now on soft slopes to make them more visible when on the ground or very low,
**************
Each map includes around 60 unic and (as far as possible) historical airfields. Airfields are not the same on every map : some appear, disappear, change their name or their appearence, depending on historical situation.
Basically : the WF40 Blitzkrieg map fits may 10th 1940 situation and WF44 Market Garden map september 1st 1944 situation.
GENERIC SEASONAL MAPS are made for 1941 to 1944 scenarii : most continental airbases have their concrete runways (most of them constructed by germans soon after the blitzkrieg)

README:This is essentially a small heights patch for WestFront 39-45 maps.

-Ground flatness on runways at Ursel & Wattisham AF.
-Cliffs Of Dover ;) : Dover castle looks now good and nomore "suspended" on steep slopes.
-WF40& WF44 maps : forest nearby airfields are now on soft hills that renders them more visible for low planes (just like generic maps).

The completion of this project is a major achievement.
Great work.

PS Darth_DooBoss
The missing object Dinan16 is from Canons Airfield Set.
You must be missing it. Which mods pack are you using.
It is in HSFX5 and 6 so has been around for a while.
-
Agree with Asheshouse: probably a missing object ? ...Depending game version you use.
EDIT:
After verification : HSFX 6.0 USERS: attention ! Some objects are missing in HSFX 6.0 (Northsea Airfield plates at least...) please check your static objects list .

These ones were missing in my static.ini and my 3do folder (4.09m+IL-2 Selector):

Hope this helps.

That's right !
If you can wait a little, I'll provide soon missing files to include with WestFront39-45 ones in order to make the pack work with HSFX 6.0

-
For HSFX 6.0 users:
http://gillesbabin.perso.neuf.fr/fichiers/Westfront39-45addonHSFX6.zip
(should be unzipped in your game folder >>> it will go with WestFront39-45 files within JSGME)
EDIT : FINALLY USELESS as latest HSFX 6.014 release includes the complete pack with this fix !!!
-
Many Thanks GilB57! 8)
I really enjoy flying over your landscapes. Great maps and very artsy work you made.
Many Thanks!
-
has three Ta-152/H1 sitting on the southwest taxi way that the...
Sorry, I don't understand : you saved the MAP or the MISSION ?
I never put one single airplane on my maps, but I suppose the creator of the mission on which you flew did that, no ? ;)
-
The dinan16 entry in my file was empty.
I solve it but there is no texture for the landing strip.
I have and UP201 with a lot of maps, aircrafts and objects included.
I'll try to download the Cannon Channel map, trying to solving this I see that the 352 Channel got another error similar.
-
Yes, there are now so many different versions of the game that it's difficult to maintain compatibility with all and take advantage of all those beautiful new objects made by many people... it's the reason why I recommand (in the readme) to DL and install the latest SAS objects pack. 8)
-
Yes GilB57
I'm with you about this. But it's a fact that the channel map from Cannon and 352 are included in the sfs files of the UP.
I've solved the 352 putting in the MODS folder the objects anyway.
I have modified the game carefully all this time, and it works except for your last version of the western front (the earlier works perfect) and the algeria_tunisia_map where I can't save the mission (in the thread of this map I put the text of the error)
I'll download the latest objets of the SAS and test it if works
-
I have modified the game carefully all this time, and it works except for your last version of the western front
Well maybe the same issue than in HSFX 6.0 ?
Please can you tell me how looks Wattisham british airfield ? (top-left corner the map )
-
ABOUT HSFX 6.0 status :
Previous little patch FINALLY USELESS as latest HSFX 6.014 release includes the complete pack with this fix !!!
-
The Wattisham airfield it's not showed in the earlier version.
I have check the rest against a bmp map and are showed and looks so beautiful... ;)
I' ll install the last version and check it tonight.
-
The Wattisham airfield it's not showed in the earlier version.
Yes this new release adds 3 airfields : Wattisham, Poix & Florennes (also Moorsele but only on blitzkrieg 1940 map).
-
In a HFSX 6014 over a 4.11.1 this airfield is showed (and the others too)
In a UP201 extra MOD too :D :D
Thanks for your help and your superb work GilB57

Dover harbour with ground under castle fixed.
MINI-HEIGHT patch for WestFront 39-45:
README:This is essentially a small heights patch for WestFront 39-45 maps.
What is fixed:
-Ground flatness on runways at Ursel & Wattisham AF.
-Cliffs Of Dover ;) : Dover castle looks now good and nomore "suspended" on steep slopes.
-WF40& WF44 maps : forest nearby airfields are now on soft hills that renders them more visible for low planes (just like generic maps).

Hi Gilb
Can you help me get your excellent West Front 39-44 maps to work?
I am running DBW 1.71
I downloaded the Caudron CR714 campaign including the West Front 39-45 maps which I unzipped directly into my game folder using 7 zip.
The map mod is listed in my JSGME as "02_WestFront39-45_maps" and I activated the mod.
When I select the Caudron CR714 campaign the briefing text is displayed as is the Caudron CR714 aircraft but no map is displayed with the briefing. When I select "fly" I get an error message "WestFront40/WF40_load.ini" error
I have not attempted to activate the "height fix", I thought it best to wait until I got the map mod working.
I must be doing something wrong but cannot work out what.
Thanks.
-
When I select "fly" I get an error message "WestFront40/WF40_load.ini" error
Possible bad download or installation ?
Please, be sure the map is properly installed by opening it within FMB, and make a simple mission: only one plane on the map, with 2 waypoints, then click "fly".
If the briefing screen appears, the map is Ok.
If so, the problem is with the campaign.
If not, open the console to find what is missing .... and I suggest you download/install it again
You can also try using 512mb exe (as the map is big)... and activate "texture compression" in your graphic settings ?
-
Anybody made any QMBs for these beauties yet? If not, maybe I'll try to make some...
-
Many thanks! Your maps look wonderful!
-
hi ,
i need Help ,
can open the maps in FMB and add planes and everything , but i cant save the mission and cant fly on the map , nothing happens

Not being able to save a mission in FMB means you are missing at least one object.
What version of game do you have? V4.09, V4.10?
Somewhere around here there is an complete objects map. Don't know where to find but maybe somebody else can help you out.
Download it, install it in your root folder and you should be able again to save any mission. :)
EDIT: found the objects pack at Ultrapack! :)

Yes ! If I remember well, I used this pack to make the maps.

-
i put that .sfs files in my root folder , but its not working
-
Thanks for this pack - one of my favourite (and most useful) maps. Jolly good show, everyone!
-
Paganizonda you just can't drop an .sfs file into your root folder and expect it to show up in your game, you have to edit your RC file to include the .sfs file then the objects will show up.
-
Ok Gumpy , how do i edit my RC file to put the .sfs into it?
Greetings

Hi Gilb
I am having the same problem as Kookaburra (don't know if he solved it)
"Can you help me get your excellent West Front 39-44 maps to work?

I also unzip into jsgmemods and the map mod is listed in my JSGME as "02_WestFront39-45_maps" and I activated the mod.
Maps do not appear in FMB or anywhere else. I have re downloaded and checked everything I can. The folder called 'files' appears in the main game folder when activated, i would expect it to be somewhere in Mapmods. Clearly i have something very wrong here.
Can't wait to get these working
:(
-
Activate map via JSGME it is good... (hee no ! it is bad! :D )
But did you file all.ini properly modified to allow to see the map in the game.
Activation via JSGME for maps is not the kind of things that I practice ...
-
Hi !
What Epervier says is right, BUT only to display in the FMB (a map can be present & usable but won't display in FMB if not listed in all.ini file)
What you say makes me feel that the map's files are not at the good place or a file is missing (not an object).
You should open console in order to see what file is missing... and try to reinstall !
NB: You should find (after it is activated) :
Files/maps/WestFront40/...
Files/maps/WestFront44/...
Files/maps/_Tex/...
and in Files/maps/all.ini:
WestFront40(Blitzkrieg) WestFront40/WF40_load.ini
WestFront40(Winter) WestFront40/WF40W_load.ini
WestFront44(Summer) WestFront44/WF44S_load.ini
WestFront44(Winter) WestFront44/WF44W_load.ini
WestFront_Generic(Spring) WestFront44/WFG_Sp_load.ini
WestFront_Generic(Summer) WestFront44/WFG_Su_load.ini
WestFront_Generic(Autumn) WestFront44/WFG_Au_load.ini
WestFront_Generic(Winter) WestFront44/WFG_Wi_load.ini
... and ALSO be sure that NO other maps/all.ini file is present in your #DBW/... folder. BECAUSE this one will have priority !
-
Hi Gilb
Still no joy. The files are as you say. slight difference is that the 'all.ini' has a load of other maps mentioned aswell as the westfront ones. I also have an add_to_all_ini text file with just the maps noted above. The 'files' folder is in the main DBW folder not the #DBW folder, is this right? The only other all.ini is in #DBW/mapmods/maps. I have tried removing this but it made no difference.
Taking what Epervier said, how do i use these maps without JSGME?
Ian
-
OK, go it sorted and it is working. I ignored the JSGME route and just dumped the files in DBW/#DBW/Mapmods/maps and let it merge. Works fine. If this works, why did JSGME not put it there and to be honest guys, why did you not tell me? I know you are all experts and assume we all know this stuff but the READ MEs on these things need to assume we are totally stupid which in my case is true.
Just flown the first mission on Hurricanes over France and your map is AMAZING, really a wonderful job. Thanks ever so much. The second mission requires me to down load a Do17Z by Ranswers. Once again the 'read me' does not tell me where to put any of the files. Struth! Guess I'll get help somewhere on this one> :)
Thanks again for the brilliant work
Ian
-
and to be honest guys, why did you not tell me? I know you are all experts and assume we all know this stuff but the READ MEs on these things need to assume we are totally stupid which in my case is true.
??? Sorry about that, BUT:
-With all possible installations (modacts, UP, DBW, HSFX, old 4.09 maniacs ;) ... it becomes terrible to make a readme for everybody !
-The readme I made offers ONE WAY that generally works with many installations.
-If you feel so totally stupid (but also enough lasy NOT to search in forum), you just have to ask here (what you did) and even make your brain work a little (what you also -and successfully- did, I have to say CONGRATULATIONS !)
...and please, before complaining, remember that all this work is offered to you FOR FREE ;)
-
Beautiful all the versions of your maps WESTFRONT 39-45. Very realistic landscapes, towns, villages, various airfields! Bravo Master!!!
And the fact that people carelessly installed maps - this was and always will be ...
Good luck in your future projects!
-
Gilb57, Mixx
Sorry :(, I apologies unreservedly and have been put firmly back in my box. it wasn't meant as a complaint, I really do appreciate all the work and the maps are truly amazing. The work you guys do is unbelievable. It was partly an honest question, why didn’t JSGME put it in the right pace? And partly just the frustration of spending hours scouring the forums to find the answer, which I couldn’t find, and then putting a solution together from half understood principles.
It was also partly to make sure anybody else with the same issue could try my solution (Kookaburra, we don’t know if you succeeded or not).
I totally understand Mixx jumping to your defence and rightly so, but really Mixx, dismissing those struggling to understand how all this goes together as ‘careless’ is a little unfair, it wasn’t lack of care or effort, just knowledge.
Anyway, the point is that I now have your fantastic maps and someone else may be able to load them if they are having the same problem. All is well and more knowledge is gained. ;D
My apologies again if I sounded ungrateful.

Salute all!
I recently upgraded to a much nicer computer. I installed Il2, and it runs SO NICE!!
Having said that, after installing this mod, West-front, like b-4 on my older computer
no joy! I did manage to have the maps show up in FMB, but cannot save or fly any
flights. I read this comment from boomers object pack, "4. Copy the static file from
UP\Std\ com\maddox\il2\objects and paste it into SAS\Std\com\maddox\il2\objects."
Well I do not see a UP\Std\static file on my pc. Yes I know, because I did not install
any version of UP on my new pc. WHERE would I find this UP static file? That is the only
piece that I'm missing to start to enjoy those fantastic maps! :)
One more question that has been bothering me for 6 months now. The pilot in the twin engine
Hs129, in the game it looks like his head is squashed! Is there a fix for that some where?
Thank you in advance for your help, and these GREAT mods! 8)
Horrido!
-
Salute!
I'll give this a try for the pilot error.. ???
"as for the pilot model I took the Hs-129 folder out of Wolfighters Luftwaffe pilots and got the original pilot back.!
Horrido!
-
Thx Mixx :)
and have been put firmly back in my box
...sometimes necessary, sorry (good for my nerves, anyways ;) ) !

I have said it before, but I really LOVE these maps. :P They are an absolute must for IL-2, and I hope to build more campaigns for them, when I just get time.
Again: thanks tou you GilB for these masterpieces (and to Ash for your part in it!)

Absolutely agree and thanks to GilB and Ash again. These maps are central (and essential) to ETO actions from 1942-45.
Cheers,
-
Thx Poltava : you also make a great stuff with your campaigns !
What about a blitzkrieg 1940 campaign in the NL air force with Fokkers DXXI, G1 and CX ?
EDIT: oups found that Maro already did it ... I need to try this one too ;)
and to Ash for your part in it!
More than a part : THE BEGINNING of all of it ! ;D
-
Thanks for all the guys who struggle with the installs and ask questions on the threads. For every one of you who asks there are many bludgers like me who don't ask but just wait to see what response you get and learn from your struggles. Thanks for sticking your necks out guys - we appreciate it! (: And what a wonderful job has been done by GilB and the other modders! We are truly spoilt. Love your work guys!
Cheers
-
If you will bear with an old guy - I think that I have installed this mod fully, but how can I tell if it really did work? I don't know where to look. And, I have a couple of campaigns going at this time. I am assuming that the maps don't just start working on those. Would they show up in QMB? Sorry for my lack of smarts, but please remember. I am not (smart), and I am (old). Thanks for any guidance. It is greatly appreciated.
-
Would they show up in QMB?
Un fortunately, no.
The best way to verify:
-You open the Full mission builder
-You open one the 8 maps "WestFront"
-You click somewhere on the map (you've just defined a plane: 2nd click will define a 2nd waypoint)
-You click "play" in the top menu.
-You'll be asked to save the mission, you save.
-if the mission loads (brief screen) the map is correctly installed and ready to fly over : you can try one of Poltava's WestFront campaigns ;)
-If nothing happens, there's something wrong in your install :(
Note: If you use HSFX 6.017 (last update), the maps are inside and playable.
-
Thank you. I am gonna try it. I have never used FMB even though I have been playing IL2 since it first came out Lord only knows how long ago, but I have never understood it (FMB). But since I just turned 70, with my eyes and shaky hands I don't play it very well. And by the way, I use DBW 1.71. I'm also not familiar with HSFX. Thank you for the help.
-
Thx Poltava : you also make a great stuff with your campaigns !
What about a blitzkrieg 1940 campaign in the NL air force with Fokkers DXXI, G1 and CX ?
Well, I am toying with the idea of putting together a "May 1940 Battle pack", using your map, of course, and containing campaigns for all parties involved in that historical battle: Dutch, Belgian, French, British and German.
Now I just need some time... ;)
-
Thank You GilB :)

Beautiful picture .... but impossible on this map ! ;)
This (quite colored) markings were applied on planes belonging to Vichy air force, which was not allowed to use north & east airfields of France (area occupied by Luftwaffe). Most of them were based in the south/south-east of France (free area until nov.1942) ... maybe some french Vichy officer coming in the north to negociate the transfer of Bloch airplanes to Luftwaffe flight-schools ?
Another little mistake in this skin: the fuselage french roundel was in fact included with a white border...
We're still waiting for proper blitzkrieg skins ... :D
-
Wow thanks for the info GilB.

I have just d/l'd and installed your maps and they are very nice. I'm trying to compare them to our 352nd Cross Channel map and was wondering if you know if your are 1:1 scale?
Also I heard of a campaign built on your maps but I can't seem to locate a link for it. Do you know where one might be found. Thank you in advance.

Look there:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,127.0.html
...search for Poltava's campaigns ;)
and YES: scale is 1:1

Available the QuickQMBPro missions?
-
If I remember well, someone made missions for QMB with the WestFront44 maps, long ago... (maybe for UP3 ?) but I don't know where tio find them, sorry :-\

Love these maps....
Will the Rouen area ever be finished...
-
Will the Rouen area ever be finished...
I don't think so because it is on the very border of the map and better covered with Canon-UK Channel map ;)
-
Thanks,
My question was centered around the 20 or so 8th AF bombing missions to the Rouen-Sotteville Marshalling Yards. Guess I can manually build the yards in the 'approximate' location as a plausible target.
Would love to learn how cyberolas did the marshalling yards on the Kursk repaint..... Those yards would look great on your map in the appropriate cities/locations and complement the cities you've built. Great target opportunities for AI bomber runs.
Love the map!

Available the QuickQMBPro missions?
See here, very easy! ;) :D

Thank you Tom!
And someone did for 4.11?
to Gilb57:
Much has been said, but ...
amazingly beautiful map! Very nicely done.
Beautifully made airfields, textures laid varied, there is no obvious repetition of textures map_T. Towns and villages, ports and factories beautifully constructed. (Sometimes even a pity to drop bombs) .
Nice to fly on this map.
What are now working Master?
-
Thx Mixx !
What are now working Master?
Nothing for the moment, I'm afraid ... I take time ...just to fly :D
And you ? Your maps are also top ;D

We need that Maps in 2048X2048 , would be the best Map ever ;)

Hi everybody !
I made a little update today:
Something I should have done long ago : the heights-fix is now merged with main maps-pack.
BONUS: 4 dogfights missions using seasonal maps:
-Sedan 1940
-Ramrod257 1943 (historical)
-Market Garden 1944
-Bastogne 1944
Missions are compatible with HSFX 6.017
WARNING: additionnal aircraft may be required for some of them (see readme)

Great update! Merci! 8)
Love your maps, great art!

Wow. Awesome news. These are my favorite maps. You rule! ;D

Encore une modif à une Ultimate ?
Pas vraiment une modif ... juste une simplification qui aurait du etre faite depuis longtemps ;)
J'ai ajoute les missions pour faire pardonner ma paresse ;) 8) ;D

Merci GilB57!!!! 8)

Merci very Much so

Thanks GilB!!

Sorry but I'm unable to download the new map becuse the page isn't available....

Seems to work again now ... (just tested)

dear all
a few pages back, Bestekampfpilot 58 asked this:
...cannot save or fly any flights. I read this comment from boomers object pack,
"4. Copy the static file from UP\Std\ com\maddox\il2\objects and paste it into SAS\Std\com\maddox\il2\objects."
Well I do not see a UP\Std\static file on my pc. Yes I know, because I did not install
any version of UP on my new pc. WHERE would I find this UP static file? That is the only
piece that I'm missing to start to enjoy those fantastic maps! ...
-but no one seems to have answered him!!
I have exactly the same problem with installing boomer's object pack. Any advice?
-
Hi Finn
here is the static.ini for UP3 RC4 ,it matches exactly what is inside the SFS File object pack I put together

UPDATE 08-07-2013 -v.2.20 !
Link : see 1st post
-
Thank You GilB for this "must have" map!!!
-
There are many great maps here but I must admit this is my personal favourite. Thank you GilB.
-
Fantastic work GilB!!
Thanks for putting that extra effort in.
I consider these maps to be the best without question and should be considered the benchmark on all aspects of map creation. Airfields, Road and rail networks, textures and getting a balance on object count vs playability, the look and feel of the towns and cities. The maps work well and look beautiful on every level.
If you do map work or want to, this map set is what you need to refer to for quality and attention to detail. This is how all maps should be done.
Thanks!
Hawk 5

SUPER GREAT new update for some of the best maps ever !
THANK very much GilB57 !!
Big chers to your cool art!

Thx ! ;D ... I just have to add that I consider it as a collective work, first author being Asheshouse, and with a big help from Canon-UK and C6-Tompcat, also including a lot of other people (see readme for more)
Unfortunately, I didn't had enough time to move/delete trees that may damage AI planes on taxying on some airfields ... well, nothing is perfect I suppose ? ;)

Any body get these maps to work in SAS MA 5.20 for 4.12.1m?
Edit, I just checked again and I cannot save a mission. :'(
-
Yup and can save missions do you have all the objects. If not e-mail and I will send the static and 3do folder
-
Yes I have almost every Object one can have in IL2, I think I need to re install up to 4.12.1m and SAS MA 5.20, Ill report finding!
-
Thank you, GilB57.
Personally I feel that these maps filled a very important gap for IL-2 1946, and ETO flying is a much richer experience with them - not to mention the artistry that went into the landscape.
Thank you again.
-
Please, need help with these maps...
I've installed them in classic way (not JSGME). Maps load fine but can not save/fly missions. Certainly there are objects missing but I don't know what/where they are (BTW, when I installed the maps by jsgme it was the same...)
I've put them on my v4.09+UP2.01 which is my FULL MODDED install.
Don't have DBW, UP3 etc, so the missing objects...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit:
I did not know about the "Static.ini checker" tool... my fault, sorry!
-
Had the wrong Static.ini, all works now. Thanks Gilb.

(https://www.sas1946.rocks/images/imageshit/scaled/large/842/xorg.jpg) (https://www.sas1946.rocks/images/imageshit/download/842/xorg.jpg)
Pretty damn barren if ya ask me.
-
This is a very late reply, it seems you miss a few mods. :-\
Do you by chance run your game on Direct X, better to enable Open GL for graphics. ;)
To do so:
Open config.ini
Under
[Render_OpenGL]
HardwareShaders=1
Looking at your screen again, it seems the typical IL-2 lighting at full daylight tripped me. :D
It IS Open GL I presume.
Edit: Forget about Open GL, read on.. ;) ???.
To the issue:
Which modpack do you use?
You can try adding eventually missing objects with help of Boomer's object pack.
I had a similar issue when I had forgotten to add the static ini entries to my new modified ModAct 5.2 (back then) install.
As for objects, read here
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30853.60.html
Hope that helps. :)
Cheers
-
I too had some strange issues with these great maps. When I was running 4.10.1 with the appropriate Modact I could use FMB+and alter a few things to suit my personal taste but since I installed 4.12.1 and the new Modact any attempt to use FMB+ with the Westfront pack maps results in a total freeze of my computer. Any other map, whether the maps that came with IL2 or third party made maps are fine.
-
Hi !
The maps are big and very populated: you should try to use a larger il2.exe (512MB, 1GB or even 2GB).
-
Thank you. I will try that.
-
Hi !
The maps are big and very populated: you should try to use a larger il2.exe (512MB, 1GB or even 2GB).
I'm on a mid-range laptop with an ATI card and I have no dramas running on the smallest il-2.exe and HSFX running too. Are the new Ardennes winter textures from Cyberolas included, or going to be included in Westfront? From what I've seen so far of the existing pack, it looks very good indeed!
-

In fact, Cyberolas (great) textures are not included in this pack ...simply because he didn't decided to repaint it...
If I understand well, he planned to rework the standard IL-2 maps because they REALLY need it ! (I agree with that )

Thanks for the heads up Gilb57.
Can the new textures be used in conjunction with your map?
Best regards
Solotk
-
Why not ?
You just need to try ;)

That's what the Girlfriend said when I wondered about painting the spare room.
I'm still in the Doghouse :(
-
Wondering if anyone with these working in 4.12.2 Modact environment might be willing to post the lines to be added... for some reason my PC will not open the text files included... :(
Thanks in advance!

I've tried posting this message in the CUP discussion thread but I think this might be a better place? I've installed CUP and on the Westfront map, the airfields have incomplete taxiways. They're patchy like they're missing a texture. I used to use this map in HSFX and it was fine so I think there is something missing/incorrect in the CUP installation. Can anyone please help?
-
care to elaborate which airfields miss some textures porschefan?
I check my install and found Düsseldorf 1944 for example to seem to be incomplete;
then I checked that airfield across TFM 4.12 and newTFM modded for 4.10 and got the same looking airfield which seems to be missing something...
so would be nice to know which other airfields might have problems to trace that error down
-
Hi Griffon. Yes - it would help wouldn't it!? :) I'm playing the Big Bird B-17 campaign and it starts at Boxted. The edges of the runways are incomplete and the taxiways are transparent/missing. I had a look in the FMB and it looks like the surrounding airfields are the same. I think it might have something to do with this https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,44975.msg506719.html#msg506719 but haven't been able to try the suggested fix. Any suggestion would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance...
-
I forgot to say that I didn't have the problem in HSFX so I suspect it is a missing texture in the CUP installation.
-
(http://s12.postimg.cc/fpkayedbx/il2fb_2015_04_05_14_39_59_51.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
does it look that way?
-
and in 4.10 DBW/newTFM it looks that way...
(http://s7.postimg.cc/6u5s5h53v/il2fb_2015_04_05_14_44_01_57.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
you see, not that much difference in the airfield depiction, so I guess this is no problem with textures in CUP;
I think the map itself might have a problem here
-
Hi Griffon - yes, that's exactly right. Is there any way I can fix it in CUP? As I said, it was fine in HSFX but now CUP is where we need to be! :)
-
Actually i do not know because i am no map maker guru
maybe we could cut out the map from hsfx and try and use that one but as i do not have hsfx i cannot try that out
-
how about that? :)
(http://s11.postimg.cc/89myt8fir/il2fb_2015_04_06_13_16_04_38.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)
I extracted the 3do/airfield folder from HSFX and imported that one into CUP; e voila, we got nice looking Boxted back again :)
btw, other airfields look much better now too....
-
for all people who have problems with this map and missing runway textures on it, head here and download the fix....

Hi everybody !
Dusseldorf Lohausen 1944 airfield should look like this:
(I can't remember which document I used for that but I used one ;) )
-
Hello GilB! thanks for clarifying that issue with Dusseldorf! so now your splendid maps look like they should, even in CUP, after adding my linked fix :)
-
Hi Gilb,
Loving these maps and play them often. However, static.ini checker tells me I'm missing the following objects
Missing objects in your static.ini:
buildings.House$Wasserturm
buildings.House$WaterStation
buildings.House$Semafor
buildings.House$Terikon
buildings.House$TrackStopWooden1
buildings.House$TrackStopMetall
buildings.Plate$Path2TarmacLong
buildings.Plate$ConcretePlate3Circle
buildings.Plate$ConcretePlate1Taxi
buildings.House$Koper
I've downloaded, installed and checked all the 00 object packs and still have this problem. Is there another map I should be downloading to get these objects? Many thanks in advance
solotk
-
I'm not sure but try it with Battle of Moscow Map here (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,34490.0.html).
-
Gerax, you're a Gentleman of the first water :)
Just these remaining now
buildings.House$Terikon
buildings.Plate$Path2TarmacLong
buildings.Plate$ConcretePlate3Circle
buildings.Plate$ConcretePlate1Taxi
buildings.House$Koper
Many thanks for your help so far :D
-
Solotk, do what I did: use the "google custom search" line below. ;)
For the plates you will find this (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,41445.0.html) thread. When you read the thread "airfield_KPD" is mentioned...
In the end reading the threads and using Google leads to this (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,32693.msg349862.html#msg349862) "Bombsaway's Midway Late War. 44-45" thread where you can dl the map including "#DBW.rar" where you should find some of your missing objects.
-
buildings.House$Terikon, buildings.House$Koper should be available when you dl this (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,14361.msg152364.html#msg152364) map.
-
Gerax,
You've been a star and have given me an education into the bargain!
Many thanks for your help finding those objects :)

:o It seems that I'm coming too late ;)
Thx Gerax for the fast "post-release-service" ;D ;D ;D
-
better to thank Mike who implemented this Google custom search 'power tool'
wich is tailored to do the search runs exclusively in our SAS DB.
Its fast and finds (nearly) everything, I really recommend to give it a try. :)
-
Can´t make this beautiful map work on 4.13RC4 Modact 6.01. It doesn´t save missions, no play.
-
The reason for not being able to save a mission is that one or more objects are missing.
The 'universal static ini checker' will find these missing objects:
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1427
Btw do you have Boomers object pack installed?
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1621

Thanks, vpmedia, after some hours I managed to make it work, some of my object packs were corrupted. Now I can fly your great campaigns with this map.

Unfortunately summer is the white building
It would be better if you give the name of the base!
I'm not good in geography.
The color is by no means the fault of the map or the author.
Unless the object is created by the author of the map.
If these hangars are white is that your game has showed that white color.

The creator of the map added the wrong objects at Abbeville airfield.
Hangars and blast pens are white to simulate they are snow covered. But looks odd on a summer map. ;)

All evidence we do not have the same things !
I have v2.2 of these maps (standalone versions) in my UP2.01 !
On some maps I have 1 or 2 or 3 petrol tank with winter textures.
Easily editable.
Good luck for your version ...
Thanks for report !

Yes, I wouldn't say better : the first map made was a winter one, and the first summer map let some winter buildings but later versions fixed this ... I may have forgotten a few objects from place to place but certainly not so many at the same place !

Is the complete Westfront Pack available anywhere...I have a French "closed page" notice following the GiLB link. Help gratefully received.

I'm sorry because my website doesn't exist anymore ... and I stopped modding for IL2-1946 some time ago.
You may find the latest WestFront pack v 2.20 here:

(link updated on the 1st page)

Good! :) Cause this map pack is really a must in IL-2!!!

Anyone manage to get these maps working in 4.13?

Anyone manage to get these maps working in 4.13?
I suppose you mean: SAS Modact 6.4 for IL-2 4.13.4m
Have you tested it? I did not know that the 413 had a different format for maps! o_O
-
Yes SAS~Epervier I did mean SAS Modact 6.4 for Il2 4.13.4. Going by what you say the maps should work. I'll keep trying. Thanks for your reply.
-
Thats odd, the link doesnt work. claims an invalid archive. does this have something to do with me?
-
Nope, vihurah, same problem here :(
-
Dear Friends!
Please help! The missions are not saved in this beautiful map! Tried many objects, downloaded hundreds of them! Have no idea how to use the static.ini checker. What else is to be done to have this map working 100%? Where to get the completed map? Please help!
-
I am very confused with my situation now. Checked the static.ini for missing objects in this beautiful map, it showed only one mission object, found it and made entries. Then checked again and found that no missing objects were available. That meant I would have no problem with saving missions. But failed. Installed the map through JGSME - failed, then directly into Mapmods/Maps folder - the same situation. So if I have no missing objects then why I fail to save a mission anyway???

Check your logfile:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=13457.0
Ingame you can simply press Shift+Tab and read the log, pageup/pagedown scrolls it.
Btw these maps are included in my modpack.

Many thanks!!!
The problem was in naming of one folder in my 3do. I had a folder named bitumenearth in 3do/Airfield. But it should be bbitumenearth, namely with double "bb". So making the second folder named bbitumenearth, the problem was solved and now I can save missions! Fantastic!

Hi everyone,
I've returned to IL2 1946 after many years away and was very interested in these beautiful maps. I've have checked the maps with the static.ini checker and
have no objects missing but cannot save missions. After checking the log.lst it appears i have one missing object which is 3do/Tree/arbre_fonce/Tree2.sim.
Would anybody know which map this comes from or be willing to upload this object for me.
Thanks in advance
Steve.

try to add at the end of your static.ini
[buildings.House$arbre_fonce]
Title arbre_fonce
MeshLive 3do/Tree/arbre_fonce/Tree2.sim
MeshDead 3do/Buildings/Pacific/DeadTree1/dead.sim
IgnoreShadowData
Body WoodSmall
Panzer 0.20

Thanks Piotrek1....but i've checked my static.ini and the entry for 3do/Tree/arbre_fonce/Tree2.sim is present..It appears i am missing the actual object. I have
Boomers objects installed and have looked through the VP modpack but cannot locate it.

I think it's those objects (fabianfreds mods (trees) Reply #41, but for me the link doesn't work.

Hi Piotrek,
I've downloaded that fabianfred tree pack but 3do/Tree/arbre_fonce/Tree2.sim is not amongst them. Thanks for trying anyway.
Any chance that you can package the object up for me to download?
Steve.

I was sure they were there :-[,
I tried to find these objects in both the #SAS folder and in the SFS files (fb_maps and fb_3do) in both cases failed.
everything is stored in such files e.g . 00E9C7820659F21A

Hi Piotrek,
You dont have anything to say sorry about.. I am very grateful for your help.
I have managed to solve the problem.. I have replaced Boomers object packs with his SFS files version which contains the missing object.
After running the map i found a few other objects missing which were not in his SFS files so i just created an Object pack of my own which contains those
objects and now all is fine...no errors.
Thanks for your help

Steve.

Is there a working link for these maps? http://www.derrierloisirs.fr/il2/HSFX60/Maps_WestFront39-45_v2.20.rar doesn't work.
-
Here is the link to my copy of Gilb57's 'Westfront39-45_ultimatePack':
https://www.mediafire.com/file/ehc66hdrlc4di5i/Westfront39-45_ultimatePack%2528re-packed%2529.rar/file
The 'WestFront39-45_height-fix' has been applied to these maps so all you have to do
is install them.
