On 23 November 1945, Air Materiel Command (AMC) issued desired performance characteristics for a new strategic bomber "capable of carrying out the strategic mission without dependence upon advanced and intermediate bases controlled by other countries". The aircraft was to have a crew of five or more turret gunners, and a six-man relief crew. It was required to cruise at 300 mph (260 knots, 480 km/h) at 34,000 feet (10,400 m) with a combat radius of 5,000 miles (4,300 nautical miles, 8,000 km). The armament was to consist of an unspecified number of 20 mm cannon and 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) of bombs. On 13 February 1946, the Air Force issued bid invitations for these specifications, with Boeing, Consolidated Aircraft, and Glenn L. Martin Company submitting proposals.

On 5 June 1946, Boeing's Model 462, a straight-wing aircraft powered by six Wright T35 turboprops with a gross weight of 360,000 pounds (160,000 kg) and a combat radius of 3,110 miles (2,700 nmi, 5,010 km), was declared the winner. On 28 June 1946, Boeing was issued a letter of contract for US$1.7 million to build a full-scale mock-up of the new XB-52 and do preliminary engineering and testing.[20] However, by October 1946, the air force began to express concern about the sheer size of the new aircraft and its inability to meet the specified design requirements. In response, Boeing produced Model 464, a smaller four-engine version with a 230,000 pound (105,000 kg) gross weight, which was briefly deemed acceptable.

Subsequently, in November 1946, the Deputy Chief of Air Staff for Research and Development, General Curtis LeMay, expressed the desire for a cruise speed of 400 miles per hour (345 kn, 645 km/h), to which Boeing responded with a 300,000 lb (136,000 kg) aircraft. In December 1946, Boeing was asked to change their design to a four-engine bomber with a top speed of 400 miles per hour, range of 12,000 miles (10,000 nmi, 19,300 km), and the ability to carry a nuclear weapon; in total, the aircraft could weigh up to 480,000 pounds (220,000 kg).[24] Boeing responded with two models powered by T35 turboprops. The Model 464-16 was a "nuclear only" bomber with a 10,000 pound (4,500 kg) payload, while the Model 464-17 was a general purpose bomber with a 9,000 pound (4,000 kg) payload. Due to the cost associated with purchasing two specialized aircraft, the air force selected Model 464-17 with the understanding that it could be adapted for nuclear strikes.[25]

In June 1947, the military requirements were updated and the Model 464-17 met all of them except for the range. It was becoming obvious to the Air Force that, even with the updated performance, the XB-52 would be obsolete by the time it entered production and would offer little improvement over the Convair B-36; as a result, the entire project was postponed for six months. During this time, Boeing continued to perfect the design, which resulted in the Model 464-29 with a top speed of 455 miles per hour (395 kn, 730 km/h) and a 5,000-mile range. In September 1947, the Heavy Bombardment Committee was convened to ascertain performance requirements for a nuclear bomber. Formalized on 8 December 1947, these requirements called for a top speed of 500 miles per hour (440 kn, 800 km/h) and an 8,000 mile (7,000 nmi, 13,000 km) range, far beyond the capabilities of 464-29.

The outright cancellation of the Boeing contract on 11 December 1947 was staved off by a plea from its president William McPherson Allen to the Secretary of the Air Force Stuart Symington. Allen reasoned that the design was capable of being adapted to new aviation technology and more stringent requirements. In January 1948 Boeing was instructed to thoroughly explore recent technological innovations, including aerial refueling and the flying wing. Noting stability and control problems Northrop was experiencing with their YB-35 and YB-49 flying wing bombers, Boeing insisted on a conventional aircraft, and in April 1948 presented a US$30 million (US$306 million today) proposal for design, construction, and testing of two Model 464-35 prototypes. Further revisions during 1948 resulted in an aircraft with a top speed of 513 miles per hour (445 kn, 825 km/h) at 35,000 feet (10,700 m), a range of 6,909 miles (6,005 nmi, 11,125 km), and a 280,000 pounds (125,000 kg) gross weight, which included 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) of bombs and 19,875 US gallons (75,225 L) of fuel.

In May 1948, AMC asked Boeing to incorporate the previously discarded, but now more fuel-efficient, jet engine into the design. That resulted in the development of yet another revision—in July 1948, Model 464-40 substituted Westinghouse J40 turbojets for the turboprops. The Air Force project officer who reviewed the Model 464-40 was favorably impressed, especially since he had already been thinking along similar lines. Nevertheless, the government was concerned about the high fuel consumption rate of the jet engines of the day, and directed that Boeing still use the turboprop-powered Model 464-35 as the basis for the XB-52. Although he agreed that turbojet propulsion was the future, General Howard A. Craig, Deputy Chief of Staff for Material, was not very keen on a jet-powered B-52, since he felt that the jet engine had not yet progressed sufficiently to permit skipping an intermediate turboprop stage. However, Boeing was encouraged to continue turbojet studies even without any expected commitment to jet propulsion.

The YB-52, the second XB-52 modified with more operational equipment, first flew on 15 April 1952 with "Tex" Johnston as pilot. During ground testing on 29 November 1951, the XB-52's pneumatic system failed during a full-pressure test; the resulting explosion severely damaged the trailing edge of the wing, necessitating considerable repairs. A two-hour, 21-minute proving flight from Boeing Field, King County, in Seattle, Washington to Larson AFB was undertaken with Boeing test pilot Johnston and air force Lieutenant Colonel Guy M. Townsend. The XB-52 followed on 2 October 1952. The thorough development, including 670 days in the wind tunnel and 130 days of aerodynamic and aeroelastic testing, paid off with smooth flight testing. Encouraged, the air force increased its order to 282 B-52s.

Only three of the 13 B-52As ordered were built.All were returned to Boeing, and used in their test program. On 9 June 1952, the February 1951 contract was updated to order the aircraft under new specifications. The final 10, the first aircraft to enter active service, were completed as B-52Bs. At the roll out ceremony on 18 March 1954, Air Force Chief of Staff General Nathan Twining said:

The B-52 shared many technological similarities with the preceding Boeing B-47 Stratojet strategic bomber. The two aircraft used the same basic design, such as swept wings and podded jet engines,[85] and the cabin included the crew ejection systems.[86] On the B-52D, the pilots and electronic countermeasures (EDM) operator ejected upwards, while the lower deck crew ejected downwards; until the B-52G, the gunner had to jettison the tail gun to bail out.

tructural fatigue was accelerated by at least a factor of eight in a low-altitude flight profile over that of high-altitude flying, requiring costly repairs to extend service life. In the early 1960s, the three-phase High Stress program was launched to counter structural fatigue, enrolling aircraft at 2,000 flying hours. Follow-up programs were conducted, such as a 2,000-hour service life extension to select airframes in 1966–1968, and the extensive Pacer Plank reskinning, completed in 1977.[75][91] The wet wing introduced on G and H models was even more susceptible to fatigue, experiencing 60% more stress during flight than the old wing. The wings were modified by 1964 under ECP 1050. This was followed by a fuselage skin and longeron replacement (ECP 1185) in 1966, and the B-52 Stability Augmentation and Flight Control program (ECP 1195) in 1967. Fuel leaks due to deteriorating Marman clamps continued to plague all variants of the B-52. To this end, the aircraft were subjected to Blue Band (1957), Hard Shell (1958), and finally QuickClip (1958) programs. The latter fitted safety straps that prevented catastrophic loss of fuel in case of clamp failure. The B-52's service ceiling is officially listed as 50,000 feet, but operational experience shows this is difficult to reach when fully laden with bombs. According to one source: "The optimal altitude for a combat mission was around 43,000 feet, because to exceed that height would rapidly degrade the plane's range."

In September 2006, the B-52 became one of the first US military aircraft to fly using alternative fuel. It took off from Edwards Air Force Base with a 50/50 blend of Fischer–Tropsch process (FT) synthetic fuel and conventional JP-8 jet fuel, which burned in two of the eight engines.[95] On 15 December 2006, a B-52 took off from Edwards with the synthetic fuel powering all eight engines, the first time an air force aircraft was entirely powered by the blend. The seven-hour flight was considered a success. This program is part of the Department of Defense Assured Fuel Initiative, which aims to reduce crude oil usage and obtain half of its aviation fuel from alternative sources by 2016. On 8 August 2007, Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne certified the B-52H as fully approved to use the FT blend.

B-52D
B-52DThe B-52D was a dedicated long-range bomber without a reconnaissance option. The Big Belly modifications allowed the B-52D to carry heavy loads of conventional bombs for carpet bombing over Vietnam, while the Rivet Rambler modification added the Phase V ECM systems, which was better than the systems used on most later B-52s. Because of these upgrades and its long range capabilities, the D model was used more extensively in Vietnam than any other model. Aircraft assigned to Vietnam were painted in a camouflage colour scheme with black bellies to defeat searchlights.

B-52F
This aircraft was given J57-P-43W engines with a larger capacity water injection system to provide greater thrust than previous models. This model had problems with fuel leaks which were eventually solved by several service modifications: Blue Band, Hard Shell, and QuickClip.

B-52H
B-52HThe B-52H had the same crew and structural changes as the B-52G. The most significant upgrade was the switch to TF33-P-3 turbofan engines which, despite the initial reliability problems (corrected by 1964 under the Hot Fan program), offered considerably better performance and fuel economy than the J57 turbojets.

The ECM and avionics were updated, a new fire control system was fitted, and the rear defensive armament was changed from machine guns to a 20 mm M61 Vulcan cannon (later removed in 1991–94). The final 18 aircraft were manufactured with provision for the ADR-8 countermeasures rocket, which was later retrofitted to the remainder of the B-52G and B-52H fleet. A provision was made for four GAM-87 Skybolt ballistic missiles. The aircraft's first flight occurred on 10 July 1960, and it entered service on 9 May 1961. This is the only variant still in use by the USAF. A total of 102 B-52Hs were built. The last production aircraft, B-52H AF Serial No. 61-0040, left the factory on 26 October 1962.

You can't find because there are not AF in IL2 that allow takeoff of a full loaded B-52, so reduce fuel or weapons, and wait for tanker.  8)

Remember to follow the Takeoff and landing instructions. Took off and landed fine (following the instructions) from the hawai map and just managed to fit in at Ford Island through QMB with the biggest Drag chute I have seen in this Simulation deployed. LOVE the cockpit. Removed franken SAC folder. All load outs working including nukes great variety. 4.12Modact 5.3Jetwar 1.4.

Hi max,

Nuke loadouts as I have them:

B-52D Conventional bomber no nukes. lots of mk82 84 and 117 including external wing racks!.

B series US  - B28,B61 and B83 freefall bombs- different yields and some para verions.
B-52H and H late also have chaff/Flare countermeasures and working RWR and low altitude warning "Bitching Betty". See post 1 re each models role etc.

Hi Folks,

 I have 2200 hours as a D Aircraft Commander with 115 missions in Vietnam so, when I get it to work (I get 0 frames when loaded on a good machine), I will weigh in with some actual pilot suggestions.

When we were not flying out of Guam, we were standing nuke alert - 346 BS, 99th Bomb Wing, Westover AFB, MA.

As an aside, this was the only USAF aircraft, at the time, that took off with full flaps. Climb rate out of Guam at 450,000 pounds with 108 Mk82 in this old bird was 500  fpm at max without over temping the engines, was sometimes a bear to refuel (track was over Philippines and necessary to reach target). Usual flight time 10 - 12 hours.

Do you have any pictures of certains details of it?  Did it have any side paintings or unique details ?
I will need to know the color it used, and numbers also,

I hope that the skins I made are close to what the aircraft was like in its design and details, but some things I could
not paint due to the size limitations  and the 3d-model itself. If you see any details that need fixing, tell me, and I will
make the necessary changes.

Very nice!
I am currently testing this in the upcoming BAT pack :D

advice:
1. put in chocks before starting up engines (otherwise there is a heavy bounce that throws you out of direction and you won't be able to correct)
2. Full flaps deployed (Nice advice, JackS)
3. spool up some and then release the chocks, go into full throttle. (there will still be some bouncing but that will subside as you speed up)
You should be making a nice straight bee line now towards the end of the runway.

If you have selected a payload which is not maxing it out, you can just scratch the Buff off from the very last meter of runway of a random Il-2 concrete airstrip :P (Just did so on Balaton, blue scramble in QMB with 27x Mk82)

Good work guys. Really lovely.


Two things:
1) this thing can definitely be put down with a joystick, you just have to be very gentle, the plane is quite a bit overly sensitive - meaning, the AI can do some... really interesting stuff with it.
2) the flaps extend... a bit too much? Vega, check the animation code and put the deflection to about a half of the current value, should work like a charm ;) It's this way at least on the F model.

I was looking around and The Alaska Man made some really great Jet War Era air bases. If someone had time and knows how to copy and paste in unlocked FMB, they could take his great bases and add them to any map with a little height work if needed to the land around it and you would have some great runways that this big girl could take off from with no problems.

RAF Scampton has a very long runway I have been doing circuits in all four models landing and taking off with weapons loads but with low fuel 30% set. I like the crew access hatch function connected to the open canopy key when chocks in. We need a Tanker!!!!

The game hangs at 100% but eventually goes into cockpit view where it hangs again for some time before becoming usable, has any one else encountered this or is it unique to my install, maybe I am missing something:

Very minor issue: AI-controlled B-52s and B-47s don't deploy drag chutes upon landing. Chute is working for the player though.

Just as with the B-47 before it, the B-52 crashes my game at 20%. I have a normal, by-the-book installation of BAT "Pathfinder", with no additional mods, or anything selected in the JSGME. Does anybody know what extra mods or tweaks are necessary to get this to work, or is this airplane just for people with their own series of "insider" special mods, plus all those additional little prerequisite mod additions that were , maybe, included with BAT in some different form not compatible with this? I've actually tried adding to my #JTW folder all the separate "extras" suggested, but the game still crashes at 20%, anyway, so I doubt that their lack or prescence is the problem. I've heard here from some people here who say that it fits right in with their BAT installation, so what have they got that I haven't?

Look into your LogFile to see what, or why,  this is happening...

.... set your conf.ini to log the loading of the game...

[HotKey Console]
LOG=1
LOGTIME=1
LOGFILE=log.lst (you can choose the name that you like)
LOGKEEP=0 (with option =1 will keep all the logs and the file will quickly become very heavy)

the loading of the game will be logged on your log.lst file (or any other you have chosen).
In case of a  crash you can trace the loading error (flight model or other) and save a lot of time in investigating the cause. 

You find the Logfile in your game,  right at the beggining in ... __IL2_1946_412\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946
You open it up using your Notepad and check the last entries on the list you see. It usually has the "errors" written.

This is a dependency mod that affects all kinds of stuff inside BAT. You may be fixing one and tearing up some new bugs.

I am working on integrating this in an upcoming  BAT pack right now and.... let's just say, it's not pretty.

Got these up and running in CUP (had a 20% crash initially but updated to Westerns latest engine mod 2.8.7 now ok). Noticed that the AI labels all say B52:UNKNOWN ? Will this be updated at some point?
Great mod - easy to shoot down with the Arado240 tho?

thanks to all for advice, and thanks for the neat B-52 model. I installed the new engine mod, and it now shows up in my game, except for the 1971 B-53H version, for some reason. I still get a 20% crash if I try to install the  B-47, though. It would be nice to see these planes in an updated BAT version with all the picky peculiarities sorted out, wouldn't it?

Hi All,

Re the B-52 mission building: I did build one, used a B-17 initially, then switched to the B-52D, taking off from Tan Son Nhut on the Vietnam Online Map (not accurate but the runway is just long enough to rotate at 130 KIAS) and hitting Haiphong with 108 500#. Added a few SAMs and naturally got winged in No 6 engine. It can be done and I used my joystick and not just trim.

If any one is interested, I'll post the let down procedures for the BUFF which can be accomplished with this model, as well as the take off procedures. The IL2 autopilot actually flies almost like the real thing once airborne except, at the release point, use level stab and manually release your load.

Actually brought back memories. I flew at 6000M whereas we were actually at 33,000 feet but that really doesn't look good IMHO in IL2.

Also, flew during twilight where, in reality,  all Linebacker II missions were at night.

B-52D-30-BW 56-0658 "Cong Crusher" from the 99th BW, in the standard Vietnam SEA/black scheme.
This was one of the last SIOP scheme BUFFs to carry nose art.


Cool name!  ;D  I will make you a skin.
There is one detail which is impossible to paint properly on these models, and that is the lettering or numbers which
are on the NOSE , as seen on your picture.
Anything in this forward nose area gets distorted and pixels pushed around  :( 

The front sides are ok to paint, but any decals+lettering need to be "squeezed" about 90%  ... the middle tail areas
need the decals+lettering made "higher" by 90%. So there is no problem placing things on these areas, as long as the
stencils are "made-to-fit-properly".   ;)
Some areas of the airplane have mirrored areas when applying stencils too, but that  is no big deal either.  It can be done!

What contrail mods are you guys using?

I don´t seem to be having such nice looking "cotton-candy " looking contrails.
Perhaps it´s the height I am flying on, or some type of weather?

In the screenshot posted before by JackS , those contrails look beautiful !

Guys need help. i solved the 20% crash but now when it loads the plane it gives me mission null error. Any fix? I run jet war 4.12.2 sas moadact.

Guys need help. i solved the 20% crash but now when it loads the plane it gives me mission null error. Any fix? I run jet war 4.12.2 sas moadact.

I think you don't have latest engine mod which implements up to 10 engines.

Be sure next file within is 3do. It is EZ to double up this mod files and render it useless.

hmmm, i used it in pacific islands at 10k feet starting in the air. pacific ilands is default map. as for engine mod; downloaded the latest bu the simple 2.8 not the one with full exhaust/effects. i will play around some more tonight after work adn see.

You did not mention if your  2.8 is actually 2.8.7.   
2.8.5 will cause this message.  ( 2.8.6 was skipped, as I understand ).

I used:                      ! ! SAS_Engine_2.8.7w_full_20180726_FullThrottleFlame.

( note this is a rename of the "inside" mod file with the name of the outer container file, and that container file must be deleted for a direct one layer access to 3do ).  "As is", the mod can be there and cause the message, if it still have two layers:

  SAS_Engine_2.8.7w_full_20180726_FullThrottleFlame  \ !SAS_Engine_Mod\3do

 Just ran a test mission with the B-52H at low level, Mk82 load,and Mig19 opposition. Mig fired missile, missed, then got hosed by the automatic tail Gatling.

I have already discovered a very similar design on the internet pertaining to your Bomber. It came with some
aircraft-model decals. So your airplane is already being built as a model  :)

The skull was on the left side only. Also, we were not assigned specific aircraft as in WW2, but flew any available which is why I flew every D the wing had. If you get to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, England, I flew the one on display. I think the crew chief of that bird painted the skull.

No, that was not me. I had long since left the USAF and was with TWA I think at that time.

Never seen those before in any books.
I have no idea what they could mean, but its an interesting detail

You're welcome. Now that you mention it, I never noticed either. They may be flap down indicators for the gunner to check if the need arises but I never recall them being pointed out and they definitely aren't in the pilot's manual.

Hey guys. I have found a small... inconvenience with the B-52 mod (and the B-47 mod alike) in BAT

when you set one of those in the FMB and switch to the individual a/c card to set player or a skin, FMB crashes. The same behavior can be usually experienced with "unskinnable" Franken planes.

I suppose, this has to do with the unusual file structuring of the aircraft versions inside the mod itself, the arrangement of the default skin folders.
It may also depend on certain FMB versions if this is experienced or not.

But mission builders should be aware of this, it can be worked around with a text editor...

Forking awesome! Can't believe someone took this project on!!!! I grew up near Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA, home of 2nd Bomb Wing, B-52. I've even touched one. The landing gear strut is a mechanical marvel. You should see the machining work required. Great work gentlemen! Truly impressive! BAFB was also home to a KC-135 wing, and a A-37(later A-10) reserve squadron, the 917th. Those A-37's, talk about screaming meamies! I'd hate for that to be the last sound i ever heard...

Have this working fine as AI, but suffer the dreaded "no cockpit" if I try to fly it. I am still trying to work out how to upload a relevant bit of log file, but in the meanwhile does anyone else have this problem? I have all the relevant mods.

If the airplane is flying good in other peoples game, then there is no "Classfile error in it". (I use it in my 4.12 game Modact)
Check again the way you installed the airplane mod into your personal game, then check again the written .ini file lines you have to add.

If the problem still continues, then ...

Great  plane, flies lovely on auto pilot but as soon as I go to manual pilot, no controls work, no throttles work, can't start the engines. When it is in the air after auto pilot takes off and I switch it just stops, other planes on the outside are flying past but mine just kind of stops and does nothing.

I fly 4.12.2 Sas Mod Act 5.30

Any one have any ideas, or have the plane to email to me that definitely works on this set up.

It seems so convoluted to put together, I'm not being ungrateful but we are all not as technically minded as everyone else. Some of us are old LOL

Hello.

When I installed this mod at its release everything worked well. (412 MA 5.3).

Since I did I think that updates of jets.

Today I have exactly the same problem as DONAGHY.

Hi everyone, i noticed this bug a few weeks ago. If you fly the B-52H Early/Late with 12 AGM-84A or D Harpoons you can launch a maximum of 9 instead of full load. The first 9 missiles launch normally but the last 3 don't launch at all even with targets directly in front. Seems like i don't have them onboard. :-X
Can anyone help?

Edit: the missiles DO launch but only if i open the bomb bay doors for the last 3. Just to be clear: all missiles launch perfectly without problems EXCEPT the last 3 that don't launch (i tryed several times). The last 3 launch ONLY if i open the bomb bay doors and wait 1-2 seconds, then they launch normally.

Hello, 20 % CTD in SAS, here's my log file:

EDIT: one little tiny Engine mod patch adding two little classfiles, and the CTD is gone

HOWEVER, if I spawn into the B-52 I freeze immediately...if I hit the pause button then I have my normal 60fps, I can look around the plane and cabin... but as soon as I unpause, the game fully freezes. Any help is appreciated!

you are clearly missing dependency mods. Probably several.

I had a similar problem with B-47 and B-52 cockpits. I installed Flyable AI mod and that resolve my problem with cockpits, but there's no need to install complete mod. Flyable AI classes from MODS or SAS folder are unnecessary to ran this. Just put sas_ai_3do01.sfs into AUTO_SFS folder and that's it. You can try with this solution.

Also, try to rename B-52 folder  (B-52 to 0000_B-52 for example) to load first and see what's happens.

Let me propose another version of bombing sight for B-52 which allows to go directly to bombing sight reticle pressing bombardier position key.

Unfortunately bombing sight for B-52H (late) remains not fully operational. Not possible to elevate it up and down, not possible to put speed and height info.

Sorry I cannot confirm your error, in my game version 4.12 everything is working and flying great.
I just tested flying 2 F-16s escorting a B-52. ALL OK.
 I am using the VPmedia-Modpack (the ww2 game version but I have added jets to it)

I am also using the latest F-16 version 2.2 mod with SAS Engine MOD by Western ... in my game I simply named the folder "Aircraft_F16_Pack_v2.2_412"
The F-16-mod you posted (F16A&C_v5  mod) was the very old mod, if I am not mistaken. I still have that folder in
my game, but I am not using it....There are still new skins in that old model which I need to move over to the new aircraft mod.

Check in your game if you have all of these needed install UP-TO-DATE (see below).

also trouble was with boing 707 comercial plane.
i checked my latest requriment mods and > all latest update! (8 weeks trouble with F18 F16 F14 most issue was Radar Receiver fault)
at the time no pleasure to play with jet era

I have the same problem like with Donaghy
Great  plane, flies lovely on auto pilot but as soon as I go to manual pilot, no controls work, no throttles work, can't start the engines. When it is in the air after auto pilot takes off and I switch it just stops, other planes on the outside are flying past but mine just kind of stops and does nothing.
I fly 4.12.2 Sas Mod Act 5.30
I have all required mods all updated, game version 4.12.2 with sas modact 5.30 and i have tried all solutions but nothing.
Is there any kind of solutions that could fix this? Because the jet is just only flyable for me on autopilot when off impossible to fly.

B-47 works all fine no lag and i can go on player tab on both B-47 and B-52 but why is the B-52 laging when the B-47 is not?
Any solution or info on this will be great.

Working on my BAT/JTW install (with new Engine mod replacing the one provided with BAT).

Very nice plane, but... misery... can't find any runway long enough for it ! LOL
Could you tell me how did you replaced Engine mod?
I mean how to do it properly ;)

@Rafiarsh, we need moore info, log.lst would be a proper start! On how to provide log try a search for log.lst in the forum.

Well i fix the cockpit problem with Ai flyable but the game start lagging when i used th b-52

Hi everyone,
I have the exact same problem of reply post#41. I read all the posts hoping for a solution but nothing.
The game loads fine, then hangs for a few moments at 100% loading. When I’m inside the cockpit the game hangs permanently. Has anyone figured out why?
All other planes from Vega and Ranwers don’t have problems. See post#41 for the problem. Thanks.

SAS 5.3 v 4.12 and all the required mods installed and updated.

Hi JOE90, I had the same problem a year or two ago.
I finally figured out I needed these two files.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/u3vfbfqd0x4gls5/Presets.7z/file

You should have a folder named Presets/sounds with two files inside.
just drop the presets folder into your B-52 folder.

Hope this helps. ;)
