Found another bug : I can not change skin with this plane (with earlier versions, it was possible).

Thanks Epervier for the 4.09 version :D

The skin folder is "VG33" but I havent a clue why it wont allow skin change as the skin names show up in the menu. Never seen this before
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: Gaston on May 22, 2012, 07:11:34 AM
You are right, mac1. Skin names appear in the menu, but when selected, nothing happens.

Didn't it happen in earlier stages of development of the plane ? because it does not sound new to me...

Yes the problem did occur, however I fixed it and have since lost those files, however I have corrected it and pm'ed the fix to mac. It is caused by incorrect targa's.

I just finished testing this sweet little fighter. A wonderful job. Many thanks for all your labors. A couple of things did occur to me, however.
1. The landing gear doors appear a proper grey when the gear is down, but they look white against the grey underside of the AC when the gear is raised.

2. the controls are very sensitive. It takes real attention and a light touch to get the plane to perform. That may well be prototypically correct. IDK

3. The on-the-ground stance of the plane seems somewhat nose-high. Again, this may be right.

4. There are no nav lights, or landing light.

I in no way want to seem negatively critical. The plane is beautiful. Your work is excellent. I'm thrilled to have the VG33 in my game. I look forward to seeing more great things from you.

Post by: mac1 on May 22, 2012, 11:40:35 AM
Hey great job on improving this model! I did notice a couple of things and
they are with the propeller and tail skid. The VG33s Hispano-Suiza motor
spun the prop counter-clockwise, whereas the one we now have spins
from left to right (you may already know about that one).

Also this plane has a tail skid, but you can still manage to lock the tail wheel
while on the ground. Thank you again mac1 for this effort! She's a beautiful
looking aircraft  8)

Ah I remember birdman mentioning the rotation before but I didnt understand that it was actually meant to be like that historically, that is interesting and lucky for me an easy fix. The tailwheel is easy too. Ill put them on the list and patch them eventually, also the nav lights etc... Glad the skins work and people can enjoy it, cant wait for a few missions and some nice skins to try my hand at flying this plane for fun. Id really love to see a skin like this one:(http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/FirstLook/AZ_Models/AZ_MS_406_France/AZ_MS406_France_cover_h.jpg)

Yep same problem here, also noticed on start up when the engine starts the flame and smoke flys out of the exhaust pipes backwards.

Thanks a lot for this great plane and so many bugfixes.

However, some bugs are still there:
- The texture mapping of flaps is fixed, but ailerons still have exactly the same problem.
- The parent of Flap02_D0 is still incorrect, just change it to WingRIn_D0 in hier.him.
- Normals of gear well covers are reversed.
- Stabs, flaps and right aileron are placed a bit too low in hier.him.
- Bf 109 damage textures don't really fit, maybe you could ask Vpmedia to create perfect ones.
- Prop rotation axis is still a bit off-centre, but no longer tilted.
- The center of the 3D model is a bit too forward causing heavy tail on ground and a bit odd pitch movement in air.

Birdman have you noticed the start up animation is backwards that is the fire and smoke comes out of the exhaust stacks backwards?Just want to make sure it's just not me.

strange. my game (4.10.1 DBW 1.71) was crashing before the splash screen, so assumed it was a java problem. i found the faulty classfile (2545C1A0CB131D8E) and removed it. everything works fine now. probably a conflict.
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: SAS~Poltava on May 23, 2012, 11:48:59 AM
Right, another one down: NOW SHE CAN TAXI!  :D

One problem remains: the next mission I once again get a "Mission Loading Failed: Null" message. I though these two bugs were connected somehow, but obviously not -  :-\

And removing that faulty java mentioned above did not fix it...

I can not put the blade of the propeller and spinner in the mapping template
seems that the skin on the side of the plane is reversed

Ill see what I can do about the mission null bug and the prop spinner. Im collecting all these bugs and am going to release a v1.1 in a few weeks time that hopefully is near perfect for campaigns and stuff

Hi mac1, thanks for the fixes. It will be appearing once, or twice in a campaign I've 80% finished. It'll be in Vichy colours. As soon as I saw that Vichy skin, I thought: Oh, lets add the VG33 to a mission or two.The campaign is not historical.

cheers

Great!!!

You are so CLOSE now!

I'll take inspiration from your motto keep calm and carry on :P Any chance you could capture a logfile poltava using the instant logfile mod and post it to me so I can figure out the null bug? Cheers :) Or if not how can I recreate the bug? cant seem to get it to happen in qmb but im assuming its a campaign bug yeah?

For V1.1 patch next week

- The texture mapping of flaps is fixed, but ailerons still have exactly the same problem
- The parent of Flap02_D0 is still incorrect, just change it to WingRIn_D0 in hier.him
- Fix Landing Light
- Fix smoke direction
- Fix flame  direction
- Fix direction of propellor spin -  apparently this engine spins opposite way can anyone definitely confirm this?
- Fix propellor spin missing blade normal
- Normals of gear well covers are reversed
- make markings overlays
- Stabs, flaps and right aileron are placed a bit too low in hier.him - adjusted them slightly
- Bf 109 damage textures don't really fit, maybe you could ask Vpmedia to create perfect ones
- The center of the 3D model is a bit too forward causing heavy tail on ground and a bit odd pitch movement in air - this im not sure about, the wings are forward on the plane and the COG is currently under the cockpit where the wings join so I dont know how much the COG is off. ideas?
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: Birdman on May 25, 2012, 02:51:01 PM
The center of 3D model is usually roughly at the aerodynamic center somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 of wing chord, but now for VG.33 it is almost at the rear end of wing. You can mark the center of preview window for example with ruler in front of your monitor and scroll the plane list to see that most planes are centered like that, but Pe-8 and Yak-7 are buggy, for example.

The easy fix for the center position is to simply move CF_D0 in hier.him with respect to _ROOT_. You'll also have to change parent of GEARC3_d0 to Tail_D0 since now you'll get tail skid hanging in the air when tail is lost. I also see too small LOD values for damage meshes so that damaged parts disappear at distance.

P.S. Some modded jets have also a bit buggy center position with their swept wings and that is the reason for leaping take-offs. Pe-8 and Yak-7 use GC_Gear_Shift parameter in FM to fix ground handling, but leaving the 3D incorrectly centered is not recommended since it still looks odd in air when pitch changes. MiG-15/17 and Sabre FM makers haven't found that parameter yet, so fixing center of 3D would give them realistic rotation in take-off.

Hello, is it normal that the VG 33's wings are undestructible when shoot on them ?
I use all the ammo of my BF 109 but nothing (no holes and AI pilot flew like normal).

I have tried to do a very simple test mission on a stock map (Smolensk) both with and without take-off and landing. And I'm afraid that the results are the same: "Mission Loading Failed: Null".  :-\

Uh ... why me ... I have done nothing Mr. Judge!
 :D
70% is not a problem air.ini but on the other ini (chief, stationary).
The log usually indicates the cause of the error... ;)
Plane and Weapons files are just beautiful to the screen... they serve as a cosmetic...  8)

If you had the DBW I would not say the same thing... because I noticed that my DBW indicates a problem of buttons (or air.ini) to 70%!  :-X

The file needs to be converted to bmp 256c and put into your paintschemes/skins/VG33/.. folder in order to be used !

DISCLAIMER: this skin doesn't intend to be a detailed historical skin for VG-33, but only a fast "with french1940 touch" generic skin.

Nice skin!

I just hope that the template is fixed soon, now exhausts have wrong height and panel lines don't join under and on the nose.

The 3D model has improved a lot, but still damage LODs are buggy, there are holes in wing roots, stabs are attached a bit too low and some gear well doors seem to be missing.

Still a lot of damage model problems (had to bail and not less than 3 canopies were ejected !)

Me too ! Irfanview is very EZ to use. ...reduce color depth and save as bmp
( without color depth reduction, saving gives 3mb bmp; with color depth applied, now save is 1mb bmp. ).  ;)
Click 'image' tab then select 'decrease color depth', OK, save as bmp:

Try the 4.09 version.
And kikka, if you want to make sure that no one ever gets the 520, keep posting unnecessary, flippant and IMPATIENT little jabs at the time it takes to make a great mod plane.

Hello KWM_Spit973,
you should keep on Pa Dore's site  (http://www.derrierloisirs.fr/il2/bdd2012/) the B-26 addon'splane and then add the files of VG33 with the 4.09FM like as usual.
I manage to make it fly, if don't, contact-me on 132Sqn web site. http://132sqn-city-of-bombay.fr/
Good luck

Hi guys!

Maybe are you already aware about it, but the radio mast dose not extend as it is supposed to do when retracting the gear...

I couldn't find any reference about it in the thread but maybe I just misread it...

Anyway, this little detail cast aside, this is just a magnificent piece of work you have been doing!!!

A great thanks!!!

I found one bug, actually I wanted to use this plane in DGen missions and when this plane loaded with missions, all planes appeared in air with engines off, fall down and crash on ground...and VG33 end up like this:

It can be put in HSFX 7 , but only in dogfight missions.
When in coop missions, it causes a " null error " when mission loading .

With enthusiastic permission from mac1, I was able to make a number of fixes to this already
beautiful French fighter. Check the first page on this thread for the update:

-Propeller rotation
-Sliding canopy in both internal and external views
-FM adjustment
-Shadow fix (use perfect setting)
-Gun dumps
-QMB/FMB crash fix
-Incendiary round effects

For those who run the game in less than perfect settings like myself, you've probably noticed
that the shadow is incomplete below the aircraft in the older version of the VG33.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v409/Mr_Craig/untitled-9.png) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Mr_Craig/media/untitled-9.png.html)

I created a separate version just for this purpose.

Thank you mac1 for allowing me to do this! There's others who helped me pull this off, too:

-CWatson ...........Prop, FM, weapons, canopy, QMB/FMB crashes, 3D Max help
-PA_Jeronimo .....Shadows and propellers (shadows bigtime)
-Stefan SG .........Default summer skin and new weapons class file
-GilB57...............Battle of France skin
-OC-Tiger ...........3D Max help

Forgive me if I forgot to include anyone else here.

 " But the tail mapping "  ???

For shure

The upper surface of elevators is mapped on stabilisators

Would it be possible to use the under surfaces: one side  mirrored for under scheme, the other mirrored for upper camo, and we could have structures lines on both side.

Hi All, the tail mapping is an issue that must have been present from the very beginning, as I am not the original author of the complete model, that was Rammbock and he is gone a long time, he left me the project and I continued with it. Never spotted this error with the elevators mapped onto the other surface.

I've cobbled together a small mini-campaign for the VG-33. It is called "Too few, too late":

(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/Poltava/aaa_vg33-2_zps77502197.jpg) (http://s163.photobucket.com/user/Poltava/media/aaa_vg33-2_zps77502197.jpg.html)

The campaign, 5 missions long, is set during the final stage of the Battle for France 1940. You are a French Fighter pilot with a newly created Groupe de Chasse, flying the brand new Arsenal VG-33, that has just started to arrive from the factories. The campaign tries to reflect the historical situation, with your unit receiving just a small number of aircraft in June, when defeat is already staring the French in the eyes. The odds are against you, but you and your comrades are not ready to give up...

Download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2062

I'm doing a ficticious WWII campaign  beginning in Sep 1938. Germany, Poland, and Hungary invade and divide Czechslovakia in September. The democracies unexpectedly declare war. The Poles use B135s, and VG33s on the Eastern Front. I've finished the American, and RAF parts.

These files replace the original versions to allow more accurate skinning of the horizontal stabilizer and elevators.

This update contains a new default skin and UVW mapping bmp as a guide for skinners. This is designed to work with the remapped prop.

Navigate to your Arsenal_VG33/3do/plane/VG-33 folder and replace the following files

Make sure your download is correct, not corrupted and it is complete;  unzip. rar with 7z. ; Rar unzip by WinRAR older vers., may be very wrong.
( free download: search 7zip internet; EZ ).

Be sure content of file Arsenal_VG33: 1 x 3do ; 8 x class-files  ( series of numbers ) ; one VG-33_FM ; one skin ; one readme.

Note this aircraft has it's own FM, so should not be using buttons as per log, and needs a DiffFM, which with DBW is included.
DiffFM is 294ABC86A89FAEB4 in XTD, or/and a more recent one in engine mod. ( 294ABC86A89FAEB4 --> 20/01/2013 eng2.6 ).

I have Vg-33 v1.2 updated in my 412; I had an older version in my DBW1.171; I just now replaced it with "updated", and have no prob.

Be sure you respect the path: #DBW  \  Arsenal_VG33 \ 3do ...
... should be same as ...         #DBW  \ Arsenal_VG33 \  VG-33_FM  as well.

Be sure to enter the complete line in air.ini:
VG33             air.VG_33 2          f01           Summer
all of it,  and only that. ( no more, no less ).

Beyond that, you have to make sure your game actually runs without the mod... ( ? )  :-X

This bird does not fly in my world. Deleted it, re-downloaded, unzipped w/ 7zip, checked files (all there), added to DBW, cut and pasted air.ini and plane_ru (double checked like I do for all plane mods), checked DiffFm in XTD (it's there). Still 60%. Game works fine when I  "//"  plane in air.ini.
Bugs me. Of all the downloaded planes I have done, this one I can't get to work.

Title: Birdman's fix patch and DBW compatibility fix
Post by: Birdman on February 10, 2015, 07:32:09 PM
Thank You a lot for this great plane and SAS~GJE52's mapping fix!

Unfortunately, I found more and more bugs while testing and fixing this plane. Thus, my fix patch got quite large with these fixes:
- Center position adjusted a bit
- Positions of ailerons, flaps and stabilizers fine tuned
- Some shadow bugs fixed
- LODs cleaned (There is now one LOD with low resolution texture, no shadow and a bit simpler mesh, but texture mapping is buggy in it.)
- Nose and stabilizers won't sink into ground anymore
- Damage of many parts fixed (Collision names are care sensitive and most didn't work because of it.)
- Many collision boxes reshaped and new ones added for elevators and rudder (Engine and CF collisions still have too simple shapes, so someone could update them.)
- Many damage bugs in hier.him fixed like incorrect parents, dead pilot and some missing damaged parts
- Damage meshes cleaned and updated
- Engine damage effects fixed
- New damage textures (I'm not texture artist, so they're likely not best possible.)
- Added missing GlassOil.mat and GlassOilHoles.mat to fix error messages (They're just copies of Glass2.mat because oil and holes looked too bad due to texture mapping.)

You can download these fixes at http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/Arsenal_VG33_fix.7z (http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/Arsenal_VG33_fix.7z).
This pack includes SAS~GJE52's mapping fix, but I left out mapping template that you can get from SAS~GJE52's download.
Just unpack to the mod folder of this plane so that these files replace original ones.

I modified damage textures from Cr.32 ones, so bullet holes are painted by Molva (Aviaskins.com) or Nachprod (aka MURDOC, Aviaskins.com) or someone else who worked with Cr.32.

DBW compatibility fix: Those who can't get this plane working in DBW or other v4.10.1m based version can try FM file http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/VG-33_FM (http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/VG-33_FM) for v4.10.1m. However, better solution is to update DiffFM mod to later version that supports FM files for other IL-2 versions like the FM included in original mod.

I hope you enjoy flying and shooting at VG-33 more with these fixes.
- Birdman

i migrated to 4.12.2m thru SAS ModAct 5.30 (started from 4.07 clean version)
No problem installing new mods (D-520, Leo-451, ...)

But i got problem with VG-33:
No 60% or 70% crash, in fact no crash at all
But no aircraft either !
Thru Mission Generator, no view of VG-33 with weapons/skins selection : empty window instead !

No freeze at mission start, but empty window again !
Possible to come back to main menu and leave ...
 :( :( :(
i tried all VG-33 versions (initial V1.0 with and without update to v1.2, new V1.2 directly, with and without Birdman fixes)

Vg-33 supposed to be compatible with 4.12 ?
 am i missing something ?

Has anyone succeeded to get VG-33 flying in 4.12 thru SAS Modact ?

Thanks in advance to anybody who can help !!!
And Happy New Year to all !

Hello Malone !
Many thanks for your answer.
Herewith my log file (begins with first error) when trying to start quick mission with  VG-33 (V1.2)
It seems there is a problem with hier.him file under VG-33/3do/plane (file is not missing -hidden file)

Thanks for your help if you can !

... suis pas un guru du log, mais pourquoi ce (sk) ...?

T'aurais pas une autre version du VG-33 quelque part dans ton jeu des fois ...?

Can't load HIM 3do/plane/VG-33(sk)/hier.him
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update

yeah, not sure what all Mick has said, but i'm thinking it's concerning your error of missing HIM 3do/plane/VG-33(sk)/hier.him.....
that's very strange, i don't know why it's looking for such a him name - i don't have such a him in my install.....
where is it getting that from, i wonder...?
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: Mick on January 05, 2016, 05:54:40 AM
... sorry, I was just wondering about that sk version of the VG-33 that his game fails to load ...  o_O

I thought may be he had another version of that plane somewhere in his game, hence the alarm ...  ;)
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: SAS~Malone on January 05, 2016, 05:57:55 AM
well, i really have no idea why it's trying to reference a him with an (sk) in the title - that is not normal naming procedure for him files.
my VG-33 has one him file, a regular hier.him....
you say you migrated to modact 530 game from a 4.10 game...? does this mean you took the VG-33 mod from that game and placed it in the new one?
if so, this could be a cause for concern..... have you tried removing it completely, and then installing the latest version again..?

Hello Malone
Thanks for your quick answer !
i installed 4.12 starting from a fresh 4.07 install (reinstall directly from ubisoft il2-46's DVD)
Then directly to 4.12 with SAS Mega Patch
Then installed other BOF planes: both D520s, MB152, CR714, Leo451: all work fine
i first installed VG-33 V1.2: it did not work (no crash, but no plane : empty sky blue window)
then i removed it and tried VG-33 V1.0 (working fine for 4.10): same result
then i tried with the patch V1.0 -> V1.2 : same result
then i tried with Birdman fixes : same result: this is the last try , related to the log file i posted.
If i choose another plane, it works fine: problem is just for VG-33 !

i did'nt remove my old 4.10 game (where VG-33 is working fine), but it is in another directory, with another shortcut: i don't think it can cause interference  with the 4.12 install !

If you have an idea ...
thanks for helping !

Hello Malone

i forgot to say: i have only one him file under VG-33/3do/plane/VG-33 : it has the correct name hier.him
(and another file named VG.33.him under VG-33/3do/cockpit/VG-33)
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: SAS~Malone on January 05, 2016, 07:19:43 AM
yes, those are the correct him files you have - the question is why is the game looking for one with an (sk) in it..?
okay, please do the following - remove all VG33 stuff completely -
then install as you did before, Vg-33 v1.2.
try it now. if it is as before, with no plane visible - DO NOT go further - post up the logfile again, so we can see what the initial problem is here.....
before adding any more patches...
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: SAS~Malone on January 05, 2016, 07:32:52 AM
okay, i better stop here before offering any more help - i didn't recall any problems with this plane before, but it's a long time since i flew it, and when i did, i find that there are issues with the plane for me, as well - if doing a runway start, the plane spawns on its belly - if doing an airstart, it starts with the engine off.
this is symptoms of missing weapons, afaik......
time for more investigation....i have French arms installed, and besides, this plane only uses a default and none load, nothing fancy there....
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: SAS~Malone on January 05, 2016, 07:40:04 AM
and that was a false alarm, sorry - my VG33 works perfectly - for some reason, in that mission i just tried, there was an enemy plane, a stock Bf-109E-4, and it was on USA(Postwar) country selection. with this selection, the 109 was causing the problems.
as soon as i changed the E-4's nation to Luftwaffe, everything worked just fine.
so my VG33 is working 100% fine in 412.2 Modact....

Hi Malone
i removed every mod from my 4.12 install, re-downloaded the .7z file and then reinstalled it !
The VG-22 is now my only added mod !
And i still get the same result ! (logfile joint)

i tried no weapon / default weapon : same result

if no more idea, pls dont loose your time anymore, its just not understandable if you have exactly the same install as i!

anyway, many thanks for your help !

well, mate, that is really strange - it makes no sense to me, that error.....
the only other thing i can suggest is that you maybe try to use the one i have?
https://www.mediafire.com/?xald7fh130bjj2c

this is what i am using in Modact530 with no issues....

Mod in first page have in Class plane :
3do/plane/VG-33/hier.him      ==> for all country except... SK
3do/plane/VG-33(sk)/hier.him   ==> for SK country

... and the Eugene archive have ... same line !

So the reason is simple: this mod is incorrect!
To overcome the error in the Class-Java:
- create folder "VG-33(sk)" in folder plane
- copy / paste the contents of the folder "plane/VG-33" in the folder "plane/VG-33(sk)"

or correct the Java Class plane.  ;)

hmmm...so why does it not have any issues in my game - it runs fine. and why has no-one else had similar problems....? .... really strange

but yes, Epervier is right, the copy/paste option should work....worth a try, anyway...

oh - if it's just one country causing this issue, have you tried to fly this plane with another country selected? i used France as the nation, and all was good.....
and after all these years playing IL-2, i still have no idea which country is (Sk) lol

Hello Malone and Epervier

i just obtained the same result with your file Malone : desperately invisible plane !

but ... YESSS !
your solution works fine Epervier !
i at last got the plane both with weapon/skin selection window, and in flight !   ;D ;D ;D

As Malone said, it's very curious that VG-33 V1.2 works sometimes, and sometimes not !
But maybe it would be better to include Epervier's solution with VG-33 archive to dld , and thus make a V1.3 !
Tomorrow, i will give another try with another country name

Many thanks to both of you, Malone and Epervier, and to others who tried !

Hello Malone and Epervier

i apologize for your lost time: i found the explanation : i had flown a Bf-109 under slovaquian colours sometime before installing mods...

When i began installing mods with 4.12, i didn't care about country name or even axis/allies camp and didn't notice Slovaquia was still there !
i just quickly tested the aircraft in flight, their skins and sometimes their weapons.

It didn't cause any problem with all other aircraft : D520, LeO451, MB152, CR714, but for some reason it did with VG33 !
i since have checked that all other allied or axis nations (Germany, Italy, Finland, ect ...) do not cause any problem for VG33; just Slovaquia !!! (for a reason quite mysterious for me !)
So the addition of the VG-33(SK) directory is only necessary if ones want to fly the aircraft under slovaquia !
(Malone could thus probably recreate the problem easily with his install, just for the "pleasure" of trying a slovaquian flight !)

This of course is a quite minor bug; the really interesting update should be to include Birdman fixes in the VG33 upload.
(working in 4.12 as well)

Sorry for your lost time, this is the first time i meet problem with country name !

Anyway, great thanks for your help, without it i would probably have dropped VG33 in 4.12 before finding the explanation !   :)

ah yes, i have had similar experiences with certain planes not working under a particular nation - just yesterday i was testing another plane, but it kept crashing on spawn - it was not my plane causing this, but rather the stock Bf-109E-4 under Blue USA(Postwar) nation, which was also in the mission.
as soon as i changed the 109's nation to Luftwaffe, the problem disappeared....
maybe try that, and see if you have similar experience...
the main thing is, it's solved - and don't worry about time, we are more than happy to help where we can, a pleasure!
happy flights! :D

I went a bit deeper about the above mentioned misalignment, and it doesn't look a mapping issue:

(http://s28.postimg.cc/soqj4h2pp/VG33_Panel_Finder_TOP.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

(http://s11.postimg.cc/wgglms0rn/VG33_Panel_Finder_RIGHT.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

(http://s27.postimg.cc/5hj1i5ztv/VG33_Panel_Finder_FRONT.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

(http://s2.postimg.cc/gxoo6jkx5/VG33_Panel_Finder_BOTTOM.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

It seems just the riveting and joints are misaligned on the texture (default skin), but I've no idea how to fix.
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update

it would be a simple skin edit, no doubt, - much as anyone who does skins should be able to fix it...

... no doubt...

Please, have. Try yourself, if you don't believe. I don't know how to move rivets and joints independently from camo, without having at least the template. If you know how, please teach me...

okay mate, here i fixed it for you in Photoshop.
i just edited the default tgb file, as the others will be further LOD levels, so you won't see this little error with them.

https://www.mediafire.com/?ac275g2a3issw5p  this link outdated - replaced by link in following post below. ;)

i'm afraid i can't 'teach' you how to use Photoshop for skin editing, i simply don't have the time for that.
If you do use Photoshop, i can show a few tricks, but mostly you'd have to learn it yourself...
anyway, this edit (i hope it works, i didn't get time to test it in game yet) 'should' have those panels lined up better now.
let me know if it's okay, will you?  :)

edit: now i've had a chance to look at it ingame - the panels in front of the cockpit are now properly aligned, but i just noticed that the panels behind the cockpit are also misaligned.  :P
i'll do an updated version with those fixes, but it will only be later tomorrow.
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: SAS~Malone on February 11, 2016, 11:36:22 AM
alright, i made the time to fix it properly, now all panels should line up properly. ;)
new link: https://www.mediafire.com/?rp9xd9h99p190r6  again, redundant due to (hopefully final) fix, link in second post below this one ;)

a tip, if you do use Photoshop - i make liberal use of the Clone Stamp tool when editing skins, especially when i want to remove markings and so on...  ;)

Thank you so much!

Upper panels are now fixed:

(http://s16.postimg.cc/czkrs5o6d/VG33fuselage_Texture_Misalignment_FIX.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

but there's still an issue about lower ones:

(http://s29.postimg.cc/dyo5f2f4n/VG33fuselage_Texture_Misalignment_Bottom.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

please could you fix them as well?

Dropping your file inside "summer" folder, now I saw there were templates "hidden" there; maybe I could have done myself... I use GIMP, though.
Title: Re: Arsenal VG33 - update
Post by: SAS~Malone on February 12, 2016, 01:29:11 AM
i doubt you could use the 'template' inside the summer folder - it uses a completely different skin...
and to call it a template is a bit of a stretch, as it is only one layer...
anyway, i'll look into the lower panels, see what i can do ;)

and done - hopefully that's it for misaligned panels?  ;D

if this version gets the thumbs up, i'll add it to the first post... ;)

cool malone!

thanks for the corrections.

i once had the template for this aircraft and had taken the time to make the same corrections. I even had a new default skin which i though i released here, nearly 2 years ago. but on searching i cant find the skin anywhere on my PC, I cant find the page for the Download, nor is it among my mediafire documents. :( guess its lost forever.

i've had similar things happen to me, fresco :D
well, as i look closer at this skin, i've since found one or two smaller errors which i plan to fix as well, probably bordering on nitpicking, lol - and a few more adjustments i plan to make.
so look forward to yet another update in the coming days ;)

I think I remember reading somewhere that, in the actual aircraft, the engine was not mounted on the centerline of the fuselage. It was offset to one side for some reason, and I also vaguely remember reading that it was mounted at a slight angle to the centerline. I can't imagine what possible advantage that would be, but if the modder did use that info in his calculations it might account for the misalignment of some of the panel lines.

...never heard of that, may be you want to talk about the D520 nose gun ...

In that case the nose gun mounting offset was 1°30 to the left

I think Propnut27 is speaking of the Bloch MB-152 which featured a  Gnome-Rhône 14N-25 slanted off to the left in order to offset the torque.
Should be verified though  ;)
