V.S.M - Victor's Sound Mod V3.0
Greetings, everyone!
What started as a simple personal project for myself to enhance IL-2's sound value, quickly turned into a full-out process of searching through numerous sound resources, both inside and outside of this site, and COUNTLESS WW2 aircraft videos with good clear audio to thoroughly transform the sounds into ear candy. Now that may seem like a bold and uppity comment, but suffice to say, I am confident that you will enjoy hearing this sound mod, as I enjoyed making it!
To make the future of this mod even brighter, it has now become the new main audio force for Battlefield - Airborne - Tactical, and the crew behind it! It is a tremendous honor to have contributed to them.
Now currently in Phase 3.0, this download contains all the previous fixes, additions, patches, and so forth from the previous phase. And of course, it now covers ALL the modules from B.A.T. No doubt I'll work on more in this mod's future, but for now this whole package will present itself with the essentials to an engaging audio environment for this iconic flight simulator. I hope you like it, and happy flying! ^_^

FIX FIX FIX
= VSM 3.1 - TGA Silent Plane Fix =
https://www.mediafire.com/file/qoib40xox6eitq4/VSM_3.1_-_TGA_Silent_Plane_Fix.zip
It has come to my attention that a minority of Spanish planes in the TGA module (Letov, Koolhoven, etc) are dead silent. So to remedy that, I conjured this minor but crucial sound fix for those planes. It's only 2MBs small, but better than having your plane sound like a dying whisper. :D
FIX FIX FIX
= VSM 3.1 - TGA Engine Startup Fix =
https://www.mediafire.com/file/7ccsxdw6pm157tv/VSM_3.1_-_TGA_-_Engine_Startup_Fix.zip
Yet another fix for the TGA module. Not that I want to point any fingers or anything, but when I unpacked EXP-12 I was surprised to hear the aircraft startup sounds in The Golden Age have been replaced by those from the World at War module. Not sure if it was a problem during the expansion's final packing process or if the sounds from a specific module where placed in the incorrect module... (i.e. sounds from #DOF2 being misplaced in #WAW2)
Ah well, here's the fix anyway.

Greetings, everyone!
My sound mod has grown and expanded in such a small matter of months, but much of that growth comes from your support and kind words. This sound mod and the following it has garnered is what kept my creative juices flowing even in the midst of drowning in college work and other things life does to keep me occupied. Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart. ^_^
Pleasantries aside, I'd like to share with you what I sincerely think is the best version of my sound mod for this glorious WW2 flight simulator:
V.S.M - Victor's Sound Mod V4.0
Symphony of the Skies

https://www.mediafire.com/file/dw2m66tu6v8jn4x/VSM_4.0_-_WaW_-_PRESETS.zip
The sounds have been enhanced, the planes have echoing engines across the sky, numerous other additions here and there, and more! Some differences may be minor, some may be more noticeable, but the planes will sound much better than ever before. Give it a listen!
Enjoy! ^ ^
(Oh by the way, since IL-2 is a WW2 flight simulator by default, then I trust this soundpack is also compatible with OTHER modpacks for IL-2, such as HSFX, DBW, UP3.0, B.A.T "World at War", VPModpack, other SAS goodies, etc etc etc... so long as it is placed in their respective modding folders.)

Thank you Victor. :) I've downloaded and will try it out. The videos you posted sounded great. I look forward to testing it out today.
-
Great job! I installed this in my BAT WAW and so far I love it. If I may make one request? The 50.cal's outside sound could use a little bass, deeper sound. The in cockpit sound is wonderfull.
-
I'll work on that minor detail, along with a few other things for the 1st update. :)
-
Could you check your install and see if your wing fold sound works. It may be my BAT install but I wanted to check. Thank you.
-
Tested the sound mod in UP3RC4 (incl. Mikes fix pack): works wunderbar. - Thank you Victor!
Best regards, der Blaubär
-
Hi Victor. In my BAT install WAW, it would not work so I kept testing. The wing fold is slow in WAW as well and it seemed no matter what I did it wouldnt work untill I renamed the !!!!!!Winfold folder to " ! !!!!Wingfold " so that it loaded all the way at the top of the WAW folder. I'm not sure what mod or file was over riding it but it works. I just wanted to let everyone know so if they put your sound mod into BAT like I did they know to make it load at the top apart from your mod. That only goes for BAT. If Victor's way works in VP Mod, follow his instructions. :)
Again Victor, thank you for your work. These are some of the best sounds I have heard in a while. I really like the damaged engine sound. :)
-
No problem, bucko. ^^ Glad you like them.
And yes, I was kind of getting irked by some plane engine PRS files using the same dmg_86_0m.wav and M82_dmg.wav sounds, so I went and tried to individualize them apart a bit. Something that goes more in tune with their engine audio.
-
Well, you have dove very well. I have been running different missions all day and enjoying the sounds.
-
Loving the sounds Victor, great work please keep it up!
Solotk :)
-
Thank you sir. :)
-
I can confirm that your update makes the 50.cal's sound much better. Thank you.
-
Hey there!
First of all, I just want to thank you all so much! It warms my heart to know my sound mod is blooming. ^_^
Secondly, I am debating on something for the next update. I'm thinking about including distant engine sounds for the aircraft, as something similar to what Tiger33 or Uwe (not sure of his name) did with their sound mods. But I'm also thinking of leaving the engine sounds undistanced as they are, similar to what Jiver67's sound mod has.
I am open to ideas/suggestions on this, but I just felt like voicing this minor thought. :-X
-
Thank you victor. I've finally met the lovely sounds mod. I've been long time worring about sounds in il2.
My pc is not high spec. Jiver sounds others are not satisfactory. Tiger sounds maybe needs high spec pc
in il2 BAT, CUP. By the way, I put your mod directly to #SAS, #WAW,not through jsgme. It works fine.
When I put it to jsgme and activate in VP, it doesn't work, default sounds only. Anyway thank you.
I hope you continue to update marvelous sounds.
-
Not working? Well that depends on which modded version of IL-2 1946 you are using.
As for other modded versions, I'm confident the sounds will work either way, so long as they are placed in their respective modding folders. (i.e. World at War from BAT being the #WAW2 folder)
-
You bet they work!
This is the best sound overhaul of Il2 by a long way. Thanks for assisting us in making this beautiful soundmod the new soundset for all of B.A.T., coming soon!
These sounds have me flying Il2 with the full headphones again. The effect draws you into another world.
Thank you victor639514, absolutely magnificent. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
Thank you so much, Monty! ^ ^
I drew special attention to the engine sounds because they are what gives an aircraft their own voice as they sail through the skies. Weapon, explosion, gear, etc, other types of sounds are fun to work with, but I found myself revisiting lots of Jafa's old IL-2 machinima videos, and I was so inspired by those astounding sound effects that I simply HAD to give my own work a shot.
-
Thank you Victor. :) I've downloaded and will try it out. The videos you posted sounded great. I look forward to testing it out today.
Where are these videos to be found?

Victor, your the man 10/10 for this sound-set.
-
Quite honestly, this is the only soundpack I have ever used that I have almost nothing to nitpick about (I am a very nitpicky person lol). I have had this pack for around four-five days now and this is simply, undeniably and without exception the best sounds for IL-2 that exist. There are only two problems (after extensive testing) that I was able to find. The first is that you seem to have copied every single wav file from every sound pack you could find, and not delete any of them after making your presets, which, although does not decrease the quality of the sounds in any way, does make the download a lot bigger. The second is that the jets sound like turboprops in the cockpit.
But all things aside, any problems, or anything I don't like about this pack (there's good and bad in every one) is completely washed away by the engine sounds, which are ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. I don't even know if I have the vocabulary to express the effect given by the perfect representation of the DB600 series, the R1830, the Sakae, or pretty much any other piston engine's sound in this pack.
Absolute 11/10.
-
I'll admit, I initially started by splicing together numerous other samples from different sound mods, but that was before I started working on the whole thing from scratch. From there on end, I searched through the best sounding sources for aircraft audio, especially YouTube airshow or flight demonstration videos, to get the best sounds for these ancient warbirds.
I'm glad you like them either way. ^^
-
For those who are interested, my sound mod is now at Phase 2.0.
-
Hi Victor great sounds mate my only gripe is that my flak sounds are very low, is this as should be? Also i would love to open the odd .prs file and play about with volume etc - can you recommend a program for doing this?
Mick
-
Well, the reason the smaller flak sounds are low is because they were much too loud. I personally think that the bigger flak sounds should be the most outstanding in the combat environment, hence why I made that tweak.
As for the PRS. files, you can increase the [spl] part, let's say from 120 to 170 to make it louder. But if you wish to tweak with the audio samples themselves, then Audacity is the go-to program for that.
-
For those who are interested, my sound mod is now at Phase 2.0.
Victor! amazing job man. I am so happy with my complete BAT install now! Can i just download the new mod (v2) and overwrite?
-
By all means, go right ahead. ^^ This new 2.0 phase is supposed to overwrite over any previous phase, patch, etc.
-
Thank you very much for this version 2 victor. Congratulations to for your massive contributions to BAT!
-
Thanks Victor
-
Victor
Many thanks for the new soundmod...... :)
I incorporated it as part of BAT 8 but I have a problem
The rotary engines of the Strutters, Pups , Triplanes, Hanriots and FB's + the Fokkers are too LOUD and are distorting badly
The sample itself is excellent but is so loud it drowns out any m/g sounds !
I've installed your V.2 version directly into DOF but still come up with the same outcome
Any ideas ?
Cheers
Alfie
-
Ah yes, that's probably because Dawn of Flight uses engine .PRS files that might be different from those of World at War. Or perhaps, some samples are left in stereo and not in mono, and that's a problem because stereo sound files tend to drown out the rest of the audio. It is for this reason that ALL the audio samples in my mod are strictly in MONO.
I could be of help with this though, if I can request someone to extract ALL the audio Samples and PRS files from Dawn of Flight. I've got numerous WW1 engine sounds from other sound sources that I think might provide a better outcome once I have the work template to operate on. :)
I make this request because I don't have exactly B.A.T installed yet. :-X
-

:D Dancing round the room in anticipation :D
Thank you Victor.....you've quite made my day
Cheers
Alfie
PS the Polikarpov CSS-13 engine sound would work nicely for our beautiful Bleriot :-*
-
It will be another fun work experiment with WW1 engines. ^^
But like I said, I need the sounds and PRS's from Dawn of Flight extracted for my operation room. Got the tools and whatnot, but I can't perform a surgery without a patient to disect, ya' know. :D
-
Well done Victor. Just to let you know that myself and others of the Clowns have included your mod into UP3RC4, with no problems...on line.
Very good and cheers

-
Hi Victor i've installed your superb pack (v.2) - (ps, the flak sounds are great I just hadnt installed properly) using my own .sfs file (#WAW76_VSM btw), is it ok there? or is it best loaded into my #WAW folder instead?
Just not sure of the file hierachy - .sfs v mod?
Mick
-
I wouldn't know about that particular #WAW_76VSM.sfs since I don't have BAT installed yet (though I'm working on that).
-
Many thanks Victor for this great sound mod! Just as a side note, is airframe stress deliberately left muted (as in Jiver's sound mod)? If not, you may want to have a look (an ear?) at 412SoundPackV5.0 found here: http://forum.69thvirtualfightergroup.com/viewtopic.php?t=2739&f=15
Keep up the good work! Cheers
-
Hi Victor i use CUP and created the WAW76_VSM myself sorry for the confusion
-
Hi Victor,
Using V2.0 and absolutely loving it! Just a small query, for some reason, on British Fighters in the #WAW section ( Spitfires, Hurricanes) there's no sound of the flaps actuating? These would be a hydraulic hiss. but no sound apparent, unless it's really muted. The .303 sounds seem a little off too, but that might be just down to me watching "The Battle of Britain" movie far too often!
Best regards
solotk
-
Ya' know, I'm having the same sound issue with the Hurricanes and Spitfires, on the flaps that is.
Not exactly sure how I can help on that. :-X
-
its because your aircraft.misc.prs file lacks the needed entries to work from the information written in those class files
-
I got it working! ;D Many thanks for the tip, DaveB.
Mini fix, coming up!
-
Victor, does this fix get applied into main install or somewhere else? And P.S., thankyou for this great sound mod! :)
-
Yes, the same install, so long as it is place into the #00__1VictorSOUNDMod_4.12\Presets\sounds location.
-
Got it! And thank-you again ;D
-
Many thanks Victor and DaveB , worked like a charm!
-
I have downloaded BAT expansion 8, I would like to download phase 2. Do I simply extract into the main il2 folder? Thanks
-
My BAT installation is still fresh and not wearing any of the Expansions yet, so I wouldn't know. :-X
-
My BAT installation is still fresh and not wearing any of the Expansions yet, so I wouldn't know. :-X
No problem, the sounds are amazing with the expansion pack 8! Thank you!
-
Does this modify the flyby sounds?
-
No. It doesn't use the same code as Tiger33's sound mod.
And besides that sound mod, great as it is on its own right, can tend to chew away at IL-2's performance.
-
I must not be installing it correctly then, my flybys revert to stock sounding, ambient airfield stuff goes away etc.
-
I will have to extract your sounds to hear what all this noise is all about .
Damn kids these days are all listening to this new thing called "Rock n Roll" :D
-
The first post has been updated for Phase 3.0. Come, my lovelies! ^ ^

V.S.M Phase 3.0
-
Hi Victor !
Is VSM 3.0 the latest sound mod for BAT and not included in any expansion ? :)
(Because i´ve read that the VSM 2.0 is included in one of the expansions replacing tigers33 sound mod) :-X
-
Hey.
It is indeed the latest sound mod for BAT. :) VSM 3.0 is not included in any of the expansions yet, but Monty gave me word that the 12th Expansion will include said mod. ^ ^
-
Hello again Victor ! ;D
Thanks for the fast reply. :D (By the way: I LOVE your sound mod 2.0)
So is it safe to install the ´´MANUAL´´ VSM3.0 NOW and later on the expansion BATEP12 that includes this 3.0 sound mod?
(Because i´ve downloaded it already for all modules and later when BATEP12 comes out it just replaces your files you have already
uploaded on mediafire/VSM V3.0 - DOF ,VSM V3.0 - TGA ,VSM V3.0 WAW and VSM V3,0 - JTW) ;D
-
Thanks! ^ ^
Sure thing! You may download and install VSM 3.0 now if you'd like, or you can wait until BATEP12 to come out. That future expansion will contain VSM 3.0 either way. ;)
Yes. When BATEP12 comes out, if you already have installed VSM 3.0, then that expansion will overwrite the MANUAL install and nothing will change. The very sounds from VSM 3.0 you hear now WILL be included in BATEP12
... And now I'm sounding like a bouncing record player. :P
-
Okay Victor ! :)
A big THANKS for the explanation. :D
I rather ask before i install and mess up my 114Gb B.A.T installation. o_O
Thank you again. ;D and keep up the excellent work.
-
No problem, bud! ^ ^
-
Morning,
I apologize for being a bit slow, but I'm not sure how to install this sound pack. I'm at Exp. Pack 11.
And thank you for this, really looking forward to it. 8)
-
Hello Pink !
In each module folder like #WAW2 , #DOF , #JTF2 and #TGA2 there is a !Classes-Sound folder.
Just extract the !Classes-Sound folder provided in Victors VSM3.0 archives into the right module (example #WAW2 #DOF2 and so on)
and overwrite all files (click yes to all when RAR asks you).
I made it simple via drag&drop.
Hope i could help.

(https://s13.postimg.cc/6mongasd3/TUT2.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/yzk56re37/)
-
Yes, that is exactly the procedure for it. ;D
Though be sure to do it right. For instance, if you downloaded VSM 3.0 - WAW.zip, be sure to extract THAT one into the #WAW2 folder and allow to overwrite.
The same procedure goes for the other modules' folders too. (i.e. unzip VSM 3.0 - DOF.zip into #DOF2, etc.)
-
Ahh, thank you, gentlemen. I ended up copy and pasting everything after I backed up the original. No patience to wait for proper instructions.
Nice flak sounds there, brother! ;D
-
Glad you like it. ^ ^
-
Hi Victor, before I screw something up how would I use V.3 in my personal game? Would I just combine all of the folders?
-
Well that depends: Which modpack is your IL-2 install using? Is it HSFX, UP3.0, DBW, CUP, TFM12, or B.A.T?
-
Sorry, I'm using 4.12.2 modact 5.3. it's a general install with a lot of different plane mods installed. I already have your version 2.0 installed.
-
Ah I see. Well then, since IL-2 is a WW2 flight simulator, then by default, you ought to download the World at War soundpack: VSM 3.0 - WAW.zip
Because your default modding folder with SAS Modact 5.3 is the #SAS folder, simply drop the !Classes_Sound folder in there, and that should do it. :)
-
Ok thanks. Really love these new sounds. Great job!!!
-
Happy to be of help. ^ ^
-
Hi Victor can you kindly explain what the 'usr' values mean in the .PRS files? I cant get my head around how they work?
Cheers
Mick
-
You know something, I'm not really the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to 'usr' values in the PRS files. :-[
I'm open to anyone who's more skilled in sound modding explaining how it works though. :)
-
Bump that mate
-
Please, give me an advice.. :( What procedure to install HSFX..
When I insert a folder Classes - Sound the folder Mods do I have updated the menu sounds, but not the engine, guns....
-
Hello,
I need also some help to install the WAW-Modul of this sound mod, but I don't no how.
I want to install this in HSFX and in a stock 4.13.4, what must I do.
Thx
Printe
-
@ Mira and printenduevel = Well, are you sure you are inserting the folder the right way. The !Classes-Sound folder is supposed to go into the respective folder for HSFX. That folder is the MODS folder. Put the !Classes-Sound folder in there and it should work. If it doesn't then there must be some compatibility problem going on, and that's another issue entirely for me. :-X
-
This is my way
(http://i.imgur.com/MybD0Wl.jpg)
I tested BAT and then HSFX and hear completely different sound..
Edit : have the impression that some aircraft sounds are the same ..Yak, La..
but 0.50cal, MG17,MG131 large difference..

-
Ha ha! Thank you VSM Master!
I use your sound mod with Asura's DGenPack, not only does it works fine but it fixes the sound problems the pack had, at least for all the planes I fly.
Changes you did not so long ago for the AM-38 engine are fantastic!
-
I just realized I haven't exactly touched upon the jet sounds yet for this enhancement pack... Ah well, there's a next time for everything. :D
-
Great Work,many thanks victor639514!!!
-
Just downloaded and tried in my bat install........ amazing work, just perfect!!! I agree that sounds in this game make a huge difference in terms of immersion. Sometimes I find myself just pushing again and again the fly by button!!! just to feel those Merlins groal........ and I can only thank you Victor!
Besides if I may suggest an improvement in the start up in cockpit sound I think it would be great to have the sound of the different operations required to start the plane, for instance the sound of the priming, and the sound of the switches that are involved in the different actions. all of them......
-
What landscape textures are those in the preview videos?
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
-
Those are from the VPModPack.
-
Nice - how do they compare with BAT? Can they be used in BAT? Sorry, noob questions.
-
Yes, they work in BAT. ^ ^
Just drop the files into your #WAW2 folder.
-
Thank you. I'm learning as I go, and trying to go slowly.
-
Excellent thank you victor639514, i put them in BAT & VP installs.
Much appreciated. 8)

Glad you like it. ^^

Thanks very much for the further updates, Victor. 8)

Thank you Victor. Your sounds make so much difference...

Hi Victor
Ive asked this question over at CUP Tech Help but thought it worth trying here too? I am inundated with sound sample errors and just wondered if it could have anything to do with VSM?
I get tons of these in my error log;
ERROR [com.maddox.sound.Sample@2b198d] cannot load sample: null
ERROR [com.maddox.sound.Sample@1a9a6e] cannot load sample: null
ERROR [com.maddox.sound.Sample@10cdeb] cannot load sample: null

ERROR [com.maddox.sound.Sample@73b4ce] cannot load sample: null
ERROR [com.maddox.sound.Sample@63746b] cannot load sample: null
This is just a tiny sample!!
My game doesnt crash or anything but I just wondered why they would be there?
Cheers

Not sure how I can be of help on this one. Sorry.
Dealing with error log complications are beyond my expertise.
Are you sure you installed my sound mod correctly?
-
Yep installed it in #WAW no worries worth a try
-
Hi Folks,
If this has been answered before my apologies.
- Does anyone have Victor's sound mod working with the VP Modpack?
- If so, did you activate via jgsme or some other method?
- Do you just use the WAW sound piece or would I need the TGA piece for planes like the Cr.32 and A5M4 Claude?
Thanks in advance, JG1234

As a sound-designer and sound modder myself (but not for IL2), I know the immense work behind a package like this.
We've had some good soundpacks in IL-2, and this one too is good work! :)
Sound is something very subjective, so it's impossible to say a soundpack is better than other.
I'd say to try it anyway, have a good listening with various aircraft and different situations. You may be surprised for the positive.
All in all, I like it a lot.
Victor's Sound Mod provides clean sounds, good loops, audio with good quality, detail and "texture" (if that makes sense).
Actually, I think I'll keep using it in my IL2 installation untill something else takes preference. 8)
If I'm allowed the feedback/critic:
- Sometimes I think the "stress" sounds are missing or really faint, when pushing the aircraft to the limit in harsher maneuvers.
I guess I need to test it more, as it seemed ok in the Seafire (so maybe was just an impression?). I should mention that I've noticed similar issue before in VP Modpack as well.
- Some guns/cannons sounded a bit weak, as if lacking "punch". But still alright.
I've noticed similar issue with other soundpacks before, and also with VP Modpack (which uses Jiver's v2 soundpack, I think), so perhaps this is realistic? TBH, I have no idea.

Although far from complicated, it's not exactly a straightforward affair. More a matter of placing folders in the right place, and renaming.
Here's what I did:
If you notice, there is a "My_Presets" and a "My_Samples" in the main installation folder of IL2.
They're usually empty, or at least mine were (if they're not, then do a backup, just in case).
Keep these in mind, we'll comeback later to them.
Next, not being sure if latest VSM WAW include previous versions content, I've downloaded all files in order (all the WAW 3.0, 3.1 and 4.0 files, including improved samples, etc, etc).
One shouldn't complain when it comes to modding, but it would be nice to have a single up-to-date package. :-[
Anyway, going on...
Inside each of these .ZIP files of VSM WAW that you download, there is a tree of folders, where there is always a "!Classes-Sound" folder.
Going inside it, you'll usually see two folders, a "Presets" and a "Samples" folder.
What I did was to rename the "Presets" into "My_Presets" and "Samples" into "My_Samples" (all without commas).
So, at the end of it all, now have two renamed folders, "My_Presets" and "My_Samples", from Victor's Sound Mod WAW, fully updated.
What I did next was to put (copy/paste) these two renamed folders into the main installation folder of IL2, overwriting then the two folders in there with same name (told ya we'd comeback later to them!).
And that was it. 8) Ready to rock n' roll.
AFAIK, this method works with any v4.12.2+ modact and non-modact v4.12.2+ based instalation, even with SAS engine mod.
Or at least that's what I remember reading. In anycase, it seems to work fine in VP Modpack and apparently also with HSFX.
;) This was the long version, if you want the short version...
For convenience, I repacked and uploaded the mentioned fully updated Victor's Sound Mod WAW4.0 (working with VP Modpack and, it seems, also with HSFX).
It can be downloaded from the following link:

LucShep.........Thank-you :)
No problem.
Just glad if it helps people testing VSM, as it is a great soundpack deserving a good look (or a listen in this case).
BTW, I've updated my previous post. :-X
It presents a sort of mini-guide (on what I did), and a download link for the up-to-date package (working with VP Modpack).
-
LucShep.....Reinstalled with your update, works great, thank-you again :)
-
Greetings again, friends!
It certainly has been a while. I apologize for my absence here on SAS. I've been devoting my modding talents over to different games, along with getting some personal work done. I'm happy though to come back and see that my sound mod is still gaining support. Many thanks! ^_^
@LucShep:
It's a deep pleasure to have a sound designer come across my work. Also, thank you for keeping my mod's followers up to date with that new download you cooked up for VP, HSFX, the works.
Just wanted to drop by and let you guys know I'm not dead yet. :D
Best wishes,
Victor

LucShep,
Thanks very much for passing on all that information and for repacking the sound mod. I really appreciate the help !!

Hi Victor
I have recently reinstalled your sound mod for WAW 4.0 after trying a few others but liking yours best, but I now have a problem? I have lost all my external Jet Sounds? Even in cockpit it is very quiet. Piston engines are fine??
Any ideas?
I use CUP btw
Mick
I tried installing dirtbloxx new jet sounds too but have the same issue?
SOLVED I moved them as per LucSheps instructions now all jet sounds are back? Although my UI clicker sound has changed??
-
hey all, how would one install this over B.A.T? i downloaded the newest version of V.S.M 4.0 opened it in WINRAR and the file name is #WAW2, whilst the newest version of B.A.T all end with 3 (#WAW3 etc) and i have no clue how to instal sound mods as i'm fairly new to modding IL-2
some info
B.A.T updated to the newest 3.3 pathfinder version
also if this is in the wrong section i'm sorry
-
Look at the posts above yours Creator its all there
-
Hi,you have a solution for this problem? Thanks

That "clack" sound is just part of the engine rattle inside the cockpit. It's not a sound glitch with your system. Just part of the audio sample being used for the 2000 RPM.
-
You misunderdtood Victor its the button click sound in my UI that has changed, I cant get the old one i used to have back?
-

The rest of the sounds are perfect but this clank noise is annoying and i can't play this game with this plane, can you make a small mod to remove only that clank noise?? or at least small instruction with how to remove it?Thanks
-
DL Goldwave sound editor and select the part of the .wav without the offending clunk and copy to desktop, then play it looped 3x to see if it's ok. Or select the part of the original .wav with the clunk and delete it, then play it looped, although this method often leads to clipping(static-like sounds). You can always hit the undo arrow in the menu to return to the original.

First of all: AWESOME WORK VICTOR!!! These sounds are just phenomenal.
I have got a little question concerning HSFX:
I noticed that the German MG131 and the MG17 and the MGFF sounds do not work in HSFX but they do in BAT. I don't know why this is. Even putting the concerning wma and preset files into my mysamples and mypresets folder won't work. Do you have any idea, why this is?

Greetings, all! ;D
It's been a while since I last popped up with an update in regards to my sound mod and so forth, but to keep things a little up to speed, here's the news thus far. Ever since my last version of VSM 4.0, I have taken a long and much needed break from sound modding (particularly out of no choice because of Hurricane Maria hitting us down here in Puerto Rico, and also due to my old ASUS laptop dying out). But with my new LENOVO which I acquired this February, I can return to my own little workshop without hassle!
Now, on to my sound mod as it is, I'd like to put my foot down for a moment. As much as I enjoyed laboring away at helping B.A.T.'s soundscape grow and flourish, I have decided to gear my works specifically towards the VP ModPack. It's sweet, simple, and has just enough wonderful content for my IL-2 installation without the looming concern for an external hard drive (but that's just my personal preference talking... *cough* :-X) Case in point, this mod is where I'll be pouring in most of my audio works for IL-2.
But enough with the jargon. What in the name of Jeremiah something something has been going on with me and my audio works on this mod?... Well.. plenty! MUCH has been done with it since last time. Sound effects have been enhanced, .prs files have been tinkered with a tad further, engines sound FAR greater, and a few other unmentioned details lying around here and there. Needless to say, the next update for this sound mod should be a most prominent one indeed. ;) I can't promise an exact release date, but you'll know as soon as it's up and running.
In the meantime, keep your mechanics working hard and your pilots well equipped on standby! Their warbirds shall be polished and touched up for their next sortie!
I'll be seeing ya'! ^ ^

Hi victor639514,
The stability and consistency your sound mod brought to all four B.A.T. modules is priceless. I cannot thank you enough. Looking forward to new releases (in any form / for any modpack)
Thank you and keep up the good mood :)
-
@whistler ~ Thank you! ^_^
Oh, and quick pop-in!
For those of you looking for my sound mod's older downloads, don't worry. The keepsake sound downloads for WAW, DOF, TGA, JTW, etc will still remain intact and available for use. So, to that end as to avoid clutter on this post, I shall upload my latest version of the sound mod in a separate post when it's done.
Yup. Same title, but new and hopefully improved quality. ;)
-
Just discovered your sound mod. Downloaded and installed WaW v4.0 package with the patch. Played through some recent replays...
...wow. (O.O)
These sounds are absolutely phenomenal!
You're done one hell of a job. By far the best sound package out there. Not only does it sound great, but it is obvious that you paid a lot of attention to detail, consistency, and compensation for volume. No one sound unduly overwhelms another and everything is well "packaged". No one engine sound tries too hard to sound "cool" or overbearingly authentic. Interior gun noises are appropriately muted. Everything sounds as it should. Distant sounds are especially notable.
You did it right. Bravo!
Thank you so much for resisting the temptation to add the "canned" flyby sounds. That is something I've always detested, especially since I have modified flyby parameters and the canned sounds simply don't mesh with what is seen. Besides, I've always felt that if the actual sounds were done right then there would be no need for artificial flyby sounds in the first place, something your package does very well.
P.S. - Regarding the previously-mentioned random "clack" sound - Please check to make sure you're not leaving the SAS site up while playing. The lower chat window makes that sound every time someone posts and you will hear it while the game is running. I made the same mistake of thinking it was an issue with the sound package, until I came here to post and realized where it was coming from.
-
@Treetop64
Many thanks for the kind words! ^ ^ I strive to give these aircraft a decent enough voice, given how their engines all have sounds that distinguish themselves from one another.
There's actually a new and improved version of my sound mod in the works, but it's mostly WW2-oriented. I do hope though that when it's done, you guys have as much fun with the sounds as I have in working on them.
-
I couldn't resist returning for another post - you replied as I was typing, BTW :)).
I cannot find any fault with this sound package. One of the things (in a long list of things) that impresses me most is how different, specific engines sound the way they should. Especially the big 9-cylinder stubby exhaust types (I-16, I-153, Brewster Buffalo, FM-2, etc.) that other sound packages seem to always get wrong. They have a very distinctive ratchety sound to them and you replicated it well here. The same level of attention is paid to other engine types as well.
You clearly made a lot of effort to make the engines sound as closely to what one would hear in the actual aircraft (inside and out), as opposed to "going Hollywood". Your attention to detail is worth noting. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.
If it sounds like I'm excited about these sounds, well, I am. For years the one glaring weak point with this game has been the sounds, such that I actually preferred many of the default sounds over add-ons.
Thanks a million!
-
I have a question: is this mod for all "sounds" in IL2 or only plane engine and guns ? Are ships and ground Anti-Aircraft, Flak and explosions included in this mod ?
-
Oh yes, absolutely!
Just about every sound in the game is altered in one way or another.
