TIGER33 Flyby MAP-FIX

MOD for Dark Blue World 1.71 - can be setup for other versions, take a look!

Tiger33's beautiful sound mod has one issue at present: There are no flyby sounds over several of the original winter maps.

SOLVED!

Installing a repainted Winter Stalingrad (Winter) Map as a replacement for the default Stalingrad (Winter) maps RESTORED the Tiger33 flyby sounds to this map.  It now works in QMB, FMB, DGEN campaigns and everywhere else.

Using the same principles we then put together a solution for the other three maps and can confirm that the original loss of flyby sound is not due to Tiger33's mod but is a MAP issue.  Our idea was that the original winter maps, being quite an old part of the original game, contained some coded obstacle preventing the new flyby sounds from working properly.

As vpmedia later said this is mainly due to the missing load entry:

  WaterNoise = water/WaterNoise.tga
  WaterNoiseAnimStart = Water/Animated/WaterNoise00.tga

Thanks to epervier for pointing out that Ardennes Winter was also an issue.

Hats down for the fix guys, this confirms what Tiger has always told me, the bug has nothing to do with UV3 ...  :D

I pretty much narrowed down to one section then to one line
  "WaterNoiseAnimStart = Water/Animated/WaterNoise00.tga"
if its not there no flyby sounds, everything else seems irrelevant  ???
I'm gonna do more testing.

test done on Stalingrad map: you are right !
with "WaterNoiseAnimStart = Water/Animated/WaterNoise00.tga" added in load.ini, FlyBy are OK !

Me and RDDR spent hours testing this one with every aircraft on every map.  We noticed the corellation between the use of re-painted maps and stock, cross-referencing the results by theatre, then made the intuitive leap.

Somehow, when map-makers package new un-compressed maps for a texture repaint, the sound bug is cured!  It may be something to do with the game loading order and forcing the maps to load in this way.

Bottom Line - We now have Tiger33's sounds and the flyby's working on all of the Russian winter maps - An issue which Tiger33 himself was getting a bit lost on, describing it as "the biggest mystery"!

What is funny is that I started last night compare files "load.ini" defective Maps and I could not have found what could be causing the issue.

I'm happy because I knew UV3 had nothing to do with this issue.

This whole water/ice on wintermaps is a mysterious issue.
I found out that on wintermaps with water you should have CAMOUFLAGE = winter in load.ini and nót CAMOUFLAGE=WINTER. Otherwise you get bombcraters on water instead of a nice watersplash.
Don't ask me why but this line in load.ini is case sensitive.

Guys this is the crazy test Epervier has just made with HSFX6.0:

Moscow winter map, NO Map fix : no flyby for any plane.

Moscow winter map, WITH Map fix, with only one plane, BeauI : flyby OK

Moscow winter map, map fix deleted, one plane added (FW190) : flyby OK for the Beau, NO flyby for the FW190 ...!!!  ???

Moscow winter map, map fix added, flyby OK for both planes ...

So it looks like the game "remembers" such plane was tested with the Map fix ....!!!  ???

Ain't this weird ...?  ???

Mick: be sure to quit IL-2 between each test, or to load another map between each test. The game like to keep some info in memory and this can let you think that the test is wrong. Experienced myself.

I made out a will on a single map : Moscow!
Between every test I leave completely the game to activate/deactivate the corrective in the jsgme...
It is evident that I am not going to switch off my computer between every test...  ;)

Good indeed, now that we have narrowed down where to look, what to look at and produced a solution, by all means tidy it up to one line if you can.

If you then successfully test your theory, and produce a useable solution based on our pointers, then congratulations - Hardly Irrelevant though!


I already tested it before posting and works - disadvantage is that you get fluid water instead ice (which i kinda like on winter maps). By irrelevant I meant that changing other lines doesnt seem to make any difference so the other load ini lines are not related to the problem therefore irrelevant. Im saying this because my first guess was the textures and their size. The source of this bug must be java related.

Translation of what he wrote at C6:

IL2 core is java coded and is case sensitive, so if you write =winter instead of =WINTER then the game won't find WINTER and will use the default value=SUMMER (hence no icy rivers)

Here it is:

Ok, voilà bien l'explication.  :)

Donc si je résume:

WINTER=eau solide
n'importe quoi d'autre=SUMMER=eau liquide
température positive=visuel eau liquide
température négative=visuel eau glace

Ok, well that's the explanation. :)

So if I summarize:

WINTER = solid water
anything else = SUMMER = liquid water
positive temperature= visual  liquid water
negative temperature = visual water ice

I have tweaked the load.ini of Stgd winter map in this way:

CAMOUFLAGE = WINTER
TEMPERATURE = -15
WATER_STATE = LIQUID

in this case, we have liquid water with ice visual, and no FlyBy.

But if I add :   WaterNoiseAnimStart = Water/Animated/WaterNoise00.tga, then the water turns black and FlyBy are OK  :(

Got the fix

Tested on Stgd winter map, with:

Tried this update in HSFX 6 and unfortunately it appears that there is something which causes the updated wload.ini for various maps not to load. 

I receive an error in reading the file.  I tested on Ardennes map.  Perhaps if we had a compare of the stock HSFX 6 wload.ini vs. the one packed for DBW, we may see the culprit; however, I am not sure how to extract the wload.ini from within HSFX6/4.1.1.1.

I tested on Ardennes map. 
The problem is that now with all the packages that exist there is nothing more to say such a thing because it does not mean anything anymore ... I hope to be clear!
- Ardennes "stock"?
- Ardennes by Peter, by Paul, by Jack, etc. ...... etc ...

In one of my posts I proposed a fix for the maps including the Ardennes "stock".
This modification works very well for me on my HSFX6!
But someone pointed out that I had not taken the correct file...

Now I have no problem with maps HSFX6!

Hi all,

is there any way of getting these maps to work with the flybys, without having to change the maps temp to +1, and not having a dark black void to the underworld, where rivers are?

unfortunately, flying online, i do not want to change the temps of these maps, as it will change the overheat parameters, and they will be different from client to host.....

The fix is needed only on maps with Water0   = water/waterice.tga
becasuse for some reason flyby only works if the map got the line
WaterNoiseAnimStart = Water/Animated/WaterNoise00.tga
which means fluid water but obliviously the frozen water maps like ardennes or moscow dont have this line.

becasuse for some reason flyby only works if the map got the line
WaterNoiseAnimStart = Water/Animated/WaterNoise00.tga
which means fluid water but obliviously the frozen water maps like ardennes or moscow dont have this line.

open the problematic maps load ini and add this line in red to the appendix section/ change nothing else

Hey guys !
Sorry if for my first post here I'm asking a completely dumb question but I can't sort this out.
I'm trying to make this work on my HSFX 6.0.15 installation and I can't.
unpacked the mod in the folder and import it via JSGME.
Tried to activate it through JSGME on Moscow Winter map in QMB -> no flyby sounds.
I've got the #DBW folder in the main IL2 folder.
Is this mod compatible with HSFX ? And if yes please help me I'm almost desperate  :)

Rename the '#DBW' folder 'mods' for a start.

Then it will work.

However, this fix is not in any means perfect imo, because it changes the temps of all the maps, this means its no good if you fly online, and it will also change the overheat parameters as well.

MOD for Dark Blue World 1.71 - can be setup for other versions, take a look!

Tiger33's beautiful sound mod has one issue at present: There are no flyby sounds over several of the original winter maps.

SOLVED!

by: RDDR and Monty27

Installing a repainted Winter Stalingrad (Winter) Map as a replacement for the default Stalingrad (Winter) maps RESTORED the Tiger33 flyby sounds to this map.  It now works in QMB, FMB, DGEN campaigns and everywhere else.

Using the same principles we then put together a solution for the other three maps and can confirm that the original loss of flyby sound is not due to Tiger33's mod but is a MAP issue.  Our idea was that the original winter maps, being quite an old part of the original game, contained some coded obstacle preventing the new flyby sounds from working properly.

As vpmedia later said this is mainly due to the missing load entry:

  WaterNoise = water/WaterNoise.tga
  WaterNoiseAnimStart = Water/Animated/WaterNoise00.tga

Thanks to epervier for pointing out that Ardennes Winter was also an issue. 

UPDATE - MORE MAPS FIXED

Winter maps now fixed are:

Balaton
Bessarabia
Finsgulf
Moscow
Stalingrad

I accidently intalled the map fix straight to my #DBW folder. Some maps won't load, because errors in load.ini..  Could some one upload the original DBW 1.71 MapMods folder?

I extracted the MapMods folder from DBW 1.71 Superinstall.7z files. It is almost empty, only _Tex folder and all.ini file. My actual DBW 1.71 MapMods folder has; _Tex, ardannes, balaton, Bessarabia, Empty1a_winter, Empty1b_winter, Empty2a_winter, Empty2b_winter, FinsGulf, Kt_Karelia, Kt_svir, Kt_syvari, Kt_viipuri, Moscow, Net1Winter, Net2Winter, Stgrad and WestFront40 folders, and all.ini file
If I want to uninstall the Tiger33 Flyby MAP-FIX,  I just delete everything expect -Tex folder and all.ini?

Problem is load.ini in Kt_syvari maps.. Moscow works, haven't tried the rest yet. I'm playing Stock Finland campaign at the moment, and wouldn't wanna screw that up just because some maps wont work.. By the way FinsGulf map with flyby sounds is working.

Any help appreciated!
