Title: Lohner/Macchi L1
Post by: gio963tto on August 13, 2012, 01:32:17 PM
Lohner/Macchi L1

This is the first subject of my personal project DBW1916, I apologize to the authors of the original mod,I used for this mod the "Sop 1 1/2b float" slot.
In the early days of World War I for the 'Italy, the L40 seaplane landed on a fault in Italy, causing the line of Macchi seaplanes.
The Austrian Lohner was at that moment, perhaps, the best seaplane in production, as copied by Macchi L1, was produced in about 140 copies for the Austrian Navy (of all types L / M / P) and about 200 units for 'Italy's only for the L1.

Thank you very much GIO!! It looks great!
This seaplane version is also very beautiful looking.
It is a most welcomed addition to the WW1 skies of the IL-2-1946 (DBW-1916)  8)

I'm sorry, but the slot is a "U-2VEX1B_Float (multi)" representing the "Sop 1 1/2b float" in "DBW1916" not Hansa or Macchi, this is my project limited to "DBW1916" but maybe someone will make a mod for a dedicated slot that will be able to be compatible Whit HSFX.
I'  not able to do.
Greetings GIO.

Nice work again, Gio!
I'll put it into the update if somebody manages to make an own slot for it.

I was thinking, that we got lot of slots in DBW-1916 for 109's, etc.
Does anyone know the procedure to make this plane work with the Bf-109E4 slot or if it would work at all?

Hello everyone !

This is such an interesting bird. The most famous was Von Banfield's one, based in Trieste. I think he had about 9 confirmed kills.
I'll try to skin it  ;D ;D
Well, yesterday I saw this post i and downloaded the folder, I put it in the correct place and then I erased one of the folder into Plane's folder but it doesn't work. I still see the old plane. Could someone help me ?.

Greetings
 Alberto

EDITED: I have just corrected the problem. Nice work !!

I've been trying to find this slot, but no matter which plane I choose in the DBW1916 listing, none of them seem to work for this new seaplane ...

Does the Sop 1 1/2 float still need to be installed separately perhaps? I've looked for a mod for that one as well, but cannot find a link or thread ...

Perhaps I did not understand, did you put the plane in folders "DBW1916" / STD / 3DO and have deleted M1A for Macchi or L1A for Lornher and continued to see the Sopwhit?.

I have the folders in the right place, just as you described ... #DBW1916/STD/3do/ ... but this is what I get as plane when I choose one of the two Sopwith floats ... I'm doing something wrong or have understood something incorrectly I guess ...

You need to choose either Lohner or Macchi and delete its folder prefix as Gio says. You cant have both in the same slot.
I tried, it works with almost every slot! Cockpit isnt working well, but its good for ai plane.

OK ... now I understand ... the thing about only the folder prefix needing to be deleted sort of threw me off ... didn't understand the instructions at first. I thought the whole folder needed to be deleted ...

Thanks for the explanation ... all works well now ... and thanks for the plane naturally.

And what a beautiful plane. Certainly deserves its own slot and many many colorful skins ...

Many thanks to GIO for this lovely seaplane !
3D model is really beautiful, and skins very nice too.

I have no problem to land on water, but when i try to take off, it seems impossible to keep the plane horizontally when increasing power, and the nose of the plane dives into the water:

Has anybody succeeded to take off ???

i kwow this plane has not yet its own slot and things will certainly improve when it gets one with its own fm, but if someone has a good idea just for now !!!

Put the folder (STD) in "DBW1916" and write yes when prompted,or take the folder called (PLANE) and (COCKPIT) put in "DBW1916" / STD/3DO / .
In both cases erase (ML1 A U-2VEX1B_Float (multi))or (LL1 A U-2VEX1B_Float (multi)) the initial parts (/ / / / ML1 A / / / / or / / / LL1 A / / /).

To see the Macchi delete (/ / / / ML1 A / / / /).

To see the Lohrner delete (/ / / LL1 A / / /).

this is all.

greetings GIO.

you put the mod in new "DBW1916v2.0" or in old ?
Try add AAA before the folder ([ U-2VEX1B_Float(multi) and/or U-2VEX1_Float(gb) ]) for skin in SKINMOD maybe have a conflict with is.

Gunny, if you download VPmedia upgrades to the DBW-1916 these airplanes and
their respective folder/files already come in there. Everything is already set up properly in order for
your game to work perfect with VPMedia package. Including skins folders with some skins and also
Air.ini entries already written for you.
Title: Re: Lohrner/Macchi L1 for DBW1916
Post by: <Gunny> on March 03, 2013, 06:18:26 PM
Max please don't take this the wrong way.
Part 1  took me 16 times to download to get it to work.
Which equals 8 hours to down load.
For the v2.1 I have down loaded that 10 times = 5 hours of down load time and it still does not work.
I have been adding the planes by hand just in order to keep up.
Which by the way is no big deal I don't mind doing.
Title: Re: Lohrner/Macchi L1 for DBW1916
Post by: max_thehitman on March 03, 2013, 07:02:12 PM

Oh, that sounds terrible. So sorry to hear that bad news.
Usually the DBW-1916 upgrade pack by VPmedia takes me like 1 or 2 minutes to download, and I do not
have the best internet connection. I have never found it dificult to add his pack
because he just puts it all neatly into one folder-pack and to overwrite everything else already installed.
I also install my airplanes by hand before when I test fly them to paint the new skins, but once I install his
pack I go back and delete all the previous airplanes and their line entries in the ini configurations. Many times I also
have to go into his pack and re-install my own personal skins and textures into them which I like to see for my own game.
So far I have not had any problems.
Perhaps you are having some mod or something that is making these troubles with your game. Even that simple "moon mod"
was not working in your game  :( I which you could see it.
I hope you can resolve this.
Title: Re: Lohrner/Macchi L1 for DBW1916
Post by: <Gunny> on March 03, 2013, 08:15:45 PM
I know that is not the case Max.
When I tried to install the new v2.1 that was a clean install.
I don't add any mods but for the 1916 stuff plus all of your Skins which I down loaded from M4T.
I really like to only have the 1916 mod.
The only mod I have added to my game is the Gun cam tracer mod.
I do like the moon mod but for some reason it does not work.

Reviving this thread for a question.

How do you even manage to shoot this plane down?

This is next to invulnerable and I wonder if this could be addressed in an easy way or not...
I have been pissed off by that fact some time ago already but worked around it.

I mean, you can put all the lead you and your wingman have into it and if you don't hit the pilot by chance, the plane just won't go down. Engine is indestructible and from 6 even the pilots seem to be, as it the prop forms a shield like that of Captain America....

Is there a possible fix to make the plane more vulnerable, particularly the engine area?

maybe some aircraft modder can tell more.

hey you class modders out there, can someone help out here?

The FM of this plane is inside the buttons.
Could someone create a version that has it separately in a diffFM file? It would be possible to address the performance and the toughness much easier.

YES for the "with own slot version" placed in my 412.2m SAS 5.3.  ( Click on pic to zoom; see speed is 181Km/h ).

How to:
1- place throttle at Full. Do not start engine.
2- apply L  : level stabilizer. Do it first. ( stand alone, U will nose dive with it. )
3- then apply A : Auto pilot( stand alone, it will reach only 68Km/h. )
4- call the tower for permission = makes it quicker ; NA in WWI.
5- IMPORTANT to avoid nose crash: pull up on stick for a  35 to 45 degree take off.
6- let speed reach 175km/h++ ;  it can reach 200 km/h !!! ( you can do 48 on your own and dive ! )
7- Disengage Auto and Level ( press A then L in quick succession ) and you are airborne.

..did not work in DBW1916 ; no go with autopilot and no tower.
Had no speed gain in my early DOF, other then by removing A at some point...

<Gunny>,I think David is referring to the Be2c's invulnerability  :D

I remember when the Be2c was first released, trying for HOURS to shoot one down  :-X
It can be done, BUT you need endless patience, very close combat flying and very accurate marksmanship  8)

TIP.....Kill the pilot  8)

Hilarious, considering the fragility of the original machine, and their fate at the hands of the Fokker E I's etc

Not for the easily bored  :D

Cheers

Alfie

PS I can't remember about the Lohner/ Macchi LI having takeoff issues......I'll give them a test when I get back from work tonight  :)
Title: Re: Lohner/Macchi L1

it's perfectly possible to take off without the use of stabilizer and autopilot.

You need to play with power on the take-off run and avoid that the plane "sticks" to the water or that you pull up too hard. Both kills your speed/acceleration and you can't take off.
Use some feeling to get it gliding, gaining speed well up to the liftoff speed. If it sticks, adjust the throttle and "unstick it" and then accelerate again.  You get a feeling for it.

Hi, guys,

I've been flying the Lohner L in the Eagle of Trieste campaign in BAT 3.5 Musketeer. No real problems with taking off, once the technique is mastered.

But, what about the cockpit? Is there a proper Lohner L cockpit available? This is what I get when I load up a mission:

(https://i.postimg.cc/t4vzLmhb/Lohner-L-Cockpit-1.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)

(https://i.postimg.cc/vmptmgqS/Lohner-L-Cockpit-2.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)

(https://i.postimg.cc/sX79Gjbf/Lohner-L-Cockpit-3.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)

It's an enjoyable campaign, and a nice aircraft, but this cockpit is just annoying as hell!

First of all thanks for enjoying my campaign :)

But in short, no, this is what it is, there is no "better" cockpit. It would be in BAT if it would exist.
The mod is ages old, abandoned as it is.

However, in a dogfight I always play if from the gunner POV anyway. I have a button for gunner fire set so I do not have to take my hand of the stick. My AI gunner tends to waste his ammo ;)
