A postman is doing a new round, he gets to a house with a big iron gate and goes in,

The postman is terrified and quickly does as she says, with his size ten, army surplus, steel toe capped boots

I never dreamed slowly cruising on my motorcycle through a residential neighborhood could be so incredibly dangerous! Little did I suspect... I was on Brice Street - a very nice neighborhood with perfect lawns and slow traffic.
As I passed an oncoming car, a brown, furry missile shot out from under it and tumbled to a stop immediately in front of me. It was a squirrel, and must have been trying to run across the road when it encountered the car. I really was not going very fast, but there was no time to brake or avoid it -- it was that close. I hate to run over animals, and I really hate it on a motorcycle, but a squirrel should pose no danger to me. I barely had time to brace for the impact. For you animal lovers, never fear. Squirrels, I discovered, can take care of themselves.
Inches before impact, the squirrel flipped to his feet. He was standing on his hind legs and facing my oncoming V-max with steadfast resolve in his beady little eyes. His mouth opened, and at the last possible second, he screamed and leaped! I was pretty sure the scream was Squirrel for "Banzai!" or maybe "Die you gravy-sucking heathen scum!" The leap was nothing short of spectacular... He shot straight up, flew over my handlebars, and impacted me squarely in the chest. Instantly, he set upon me. If I did not know better, I would have sworn he brought 20 of his little buddies along for the attack. Snarling, hissing, and tearing at my clothes, he was a frenzy of activity. As I was dressed only in a light T-shirt, summer riding gloves, and jeans, this was a bit of a cause for concern. This furry little tornado was doing some damage!
Picture a large man on a huge black and chrome cruiser, dressed in jeans, a T-shirt, and leather gloves, puttering at maybe 25mph down a quiet residential street, and in the fight of his life with a squirrel. And losing... I grabbed for him with my left hand. After a few misses, I finally managed to snag his tail. With all my strength, I flung the evil rodent off to the left of the bike, almost running into the right curb as I recoiled from the throw. That should have done it. The matter should have ended right there. It really should have, the squirrel could have sailed into one of the pristinely kept yards and gone on about his business, and I could have headed home. No one would have been the wiser. But this was no ordinary squirrel. This was not even an ordinary angry squirrel. This was an EVIL MUTANT ATTACK SQUIRREL OF DEATH!
Somehow he caught my gloved finger with one of his little hands and, with the force of my throw, swung around and with a resounding thump, and an amazing impact, he landed squarely on my BACK and resumed his rather antisocial and extremely distracting activities. He also managed to take my left glove with him! The situation was not improved. Not improved at all.
His attacks were continuing and now, I could not reach him. I was startled, to say the least. The combination of the force of the throw, only having one hand (the throttle hand) on the handlebars, and my jerking back unfortunately put a healthy twist through my right hand and into the throttle. A healthy twist on the throttle of a V-max can have only one result. Torque, this is what the V-max is made for, and she is very, very good at it.
The engine roared and the front wheel left the pavement. The squirrel screamed in anger. The V-max screamed in ecstasy. I screamed in ... well... I just plain screamed.
Now picture a large man on a huge black cruiser, dressed in jeans, a slightly squirrel torn T-shirt, wearing only one leather glove, and roaring at maybe 50mph and rapidly accelerating down a quiet residential street on one wheel, with a demonic squirrel of death on his back. The man and the squirrel are both screaming bloody murder.
With the sudden acceleration I was forced to put my other hand back on the handlebars and try to get control of the bike. This was leaving the mutant squirrel to his own devices, but I really did not want to crash into somebody's tree, house, or parked car. Also, I had not yet figured out how to release the throttle...my brain was just simply overloaded. I did manage to mash the back brake, but it had little effect against the massive power of the big cruiser.
About this time, the squirrel decided I was not paying sufficient attention to this very serious battle (maybe he was an evil mutant NAZI attack squirrel of death), and he came around my neck and got INSIDE my full-face helmet with me. As the faceplate closed part way, he began hissing in my face. I am quite sure my screaming changed intensity. It had little effect on the squirrel however.
The RPMs on the Dragon maxed out (since I was not bothering with shifting at the moment), so her front end started to drop. Now picture a large man on a huge black and chrome cruiser, dressed in jeans, a very raggedly torn T-shirt, wearing only one leather glove, roaring at probably 80mph, still on one wheel, with a large puffy squirrel's tail sticking out of the mostly closed full-face helmet. By now the screams are probably getting a little hoarse.
Finally I got the upper hand .. I managed to grab his tail again, pulled him out of my helmet, and slung him to the left as hard as I could. This time it worked ... sort of. Spectacularly sort-of . so to speak. Picture a new scene. You are a cop. You and your partner have pulled off on a quiet residential street and parked with your windows down to do some paperwork. Suddenly a large man on a huge black cruiser, dressed in jeans, a torn T-shirt flapping in the breeze, and wearing only one leather glove, moving at probably 80mph on one wheel, and screaming bloody murder roars by, and with all his strength throws a live squirrel grenade into your police car.
I heard screams. This time they weren't mine... I managed to get the big motorcycle under control and dropped the front wheel to the ground. I then used maximum braking and skidded to a stop in a cloud of tire smoke at the stop sign of a busy cross street. I would have returned to 'fess up (and to get my glove back). I really would have. Really...Except for two things. First, the cops did not seem interested or the slightest bit concerned about me at the moment. When I looked back, the doors on both sides of the patrol were flung wide open. The cop from the passenger side was on his back, doing a crab walk into somebody's front yard, quickly moving away from the car. The cop who had been in the driver's seat was standing in the street aiming a riot gun at his own police car. So, the cops were not interested in me. They often insist to "let the professionals handle it" anyway.
That was one thing. And the other? Well, I could clearly see shredded and flying pieces of foam and upholstery from the back seat. But I could also swear I saw the squirrel in the back window, shaking his little fist at me. That is one dangerous squirrel. And now he has a patrol car. A somewhat shredded patrol car...but it was all his. I took a deep breath, turned on my turn signal, made a gentle right turn off of Brice Street, and sedately left the neighborhood. I decided it was best to just buy myself a new pair of gloves. And a whole lot of Band-Aids.

A boardroom in a very important building in the city, in the centre of the room is a large boardroom table with seats down either side and a chairmans seat at the top, at the other end is a large flatscreen tv, seated at the table are some seriousely important people, they've just had a brief lecture and are now all facing the tv screen waiting for me to hit the remote and start a short film, i'm seated behind them and they all have their backs to me, the blinds are drawn and the lights are out and i'm just waiting for a young office girl to pour me a cup of tea before she leaves and the show can begin, the room is silent!........
Suddenly the clumsy bitch trips over her tampon string and tips scolding hot tea right into my lap, imagine their faces as their host suddenly leaps out of his seat howling like lassie and bursts into a Micheal Jackson routine...first a quick bit of Thriller and then moonwalking backwards at a rapid speed shouting OUH, OUH, OUH... clutching his nuts that are steaming like a kettle!..... the natural instinctive temper part of my brain wanted to grab the bitch by the throat and wring the life out of her but my body was busy moonwalking to the nearest toilets......i burst through the toilet door, got to the sink, whipped down my pants, cursing, swearing and hollowing i reached for the cold tap.......it was only then that i realised that the walls were painted pink and there were no urinals but it was all to late, the cubicle door opened behind me and standing there was the worlds biggest gossip with a look of absolute bewilderment on her face.....suddenly i knew i was about to become famous and get cold stares for the rest of the day,
Calmly i just said '' what! have you never seen a man wash his balls before ? '' she picked her chin up off the floor and left without saying a word!

Super funny story I just heard on radio.
Guy is standing in line at fast food place in Montreal, and has a kid, (5years old or so) yelling and cursing, punching, and throwing his gaming device around, ect. Buddy turned around and asked lady to reign in her child, and she got irate and aggressive. This kid wanted a pie.
So buddy, who's in front of them, gets to the cash, and orders every pie they had in the joint. Then walked out, leaving the lady and her kid pie-less.

....after a long time away from SAS - from believing I had locked myself out of logging in, by changing my password to a new one (that I forgot that same day as it it was unrelated to my usual themes) and at the same time both of my emails (that were the alternate for the other.) that I changed on a security whim - I was doing an ECDL course at the time ..D'oh.
I eventually managed to sort it, despite a few long ago emails that I missed.
..Anyhow, since a few years ago, I still fly IL-2 v4.12, briefly tried racing with the Il-2 Sim Air Racing League until my internet went, still sometimes watch comedy, war and history docs, sometimes play World of Tanks (yeah yeah, no infantry or Il-2's or Hs.129's t worry about, or anti-tank mines. ...something i hope to be implemented in a random spawning method, to give the arty-haters something else to moan about), Blood Bowl Legendary and enjoy the occasional Beer or Ale, and still enjoy viewing info and speculations at ww2aircraft net site.

Once, during a period when the IRA was bombing pubs in the UK and killing a lot of people, an Irish man thought it was funny to place a fake bomb in the pub where I was working.
I spotted him "placing" his bomb and damn near killed him. I was actually charged with GBH before the police watched the CCTV footage and un-arrested me.
The idiot who placed the fake bomb got out of hospital a couple of days later, he was stupid enough to come to the pub and try to apologise to the landlord.
The landlord was not amused, banned him from the pub and put him on pub-watch. Which basically means he was banned from ALL pubs in Sheffield for 10 years.
If anyone thinks this sort of behavior is funny, please think again.
If someone dressed like that, threw a back pack at me, I would kill him.
I'm a lot older than I used to be, which means I'm not as able to absorb damage as I used to be. Which means I don't pull any punches. If I get in a fight now, I take my opponent down FAST and HARD. No proportional response, finish the fight NOW.

Funny, but in fact: cheap vodka at USSR times was sealed with a plastic stopper in alcohol factories, so that a regular army knife was used, no corkscrews. Same with cheap vine. &, finally, colognes and lotions to this day have screw caps (a favorite swill of alcoholics called to the Soviet Army) :P
PS:The most notorious alcoholics among soldiers took a bucket of water, dissolved alcohol-containing chemicals, defended, so that the liquids were divided into layers, then made a hole in the bottom and drained the unnecessary.
The most desperate smeared on a piece of dried bread Gutalin (issued to all soldiers for cleaning boots). When the bread was soaked, cut the shoe with a knife, and ate the bread. Sometimes they were buried (if the doctors did not have time to save from poisoning).
PSS:In my time (1970-80), in the Soviet Army, I met soldiers drinking lotions and alcohol-containing chemicals (when they could not get a normal swill). And such alcoholics served only in the Building Battalions, where they were expelled from other types of troops. Same was with officers in best case scenario. In the worst case they were deprived of their titles and expelled from the army without the right of restoration.

So today I was given the job of creating a rough draft for an exhibit at the Air Museum. The exhibit features diesel aircraft engines as its focus. I am in charge of writing the paragraph or two that will be the first thing that people see when they enter the exhibit.
So I went to my computer and turned it on in order to start typing but the moment I log on it tells me that it needs to do an update. The estimated time for the update was around two hours and it didnt give me the choice to wait a day. So I had no choice but to run it and wait.
At that moment I realized that, “Oh shit! This thing is due tomorrow and it’s 9:00pm. I’ve made a terrible mistake!”
So I went upstairs to get my backup typing instrument.

One dark night outside a small town, a fire started inside the local chemical plant. Before long it exploded into flames and an alarm went out to fire departments from miles around.
After fighting the fire for over an hour, the chemical company president approached the fire chief and said, “All of our secret formulas are in the vault in the center of the plant. They must be saved! I will give $50,000 to the engine company that brings them out safely!”
As soon as the chief heard this, he ordered the firemen to strengthen their attack on the blaze. After two more hours of attacking the fire, the president of the company offered $100,000 to the engine company that could bring out the company’s secret files.
From the distance a long siren was heard and another fire truck came into sight. It was a local volunteer fire company composed entirely of men over 65. To everyone’s amazement the little fire engine raced through the Chemical plant gates and drove straight into the middle of the inferno. In the distance the other firemen watched as the old-timers hopped off of their rig and began to fight the fire with an effort that they had never seen before.
After an hour of intense fighting the volunteer company had extinguished the fire and saved the secret formulas. Joyous, the chemical company president announced that he would double the reward to $200,000 and walked over to personally thank each of the volunteers.
After thanking each of the old men individually, the president asked the group what they intended to do with the reward money. The fire truck driver looked him right in the eye and said, “The first thing we’re going to do is fix the dang brakes on that truck!”

This might be an old one for some of you, but still... worth being shared me thinks:
An HR manager was knocked down (tragically) by a bus and was killed. Her soul arrived at the Pearly Gates, where St.Peter welcomed her. "Before you get settled in" he said, "We have a little problem…you see, we’ve never had a HR manager make it this far before and we’re not really sure what to do with you."
"Oh, I see," said the woman, "can’t you just let me in?"
"Well, I’d like to," said St Peter, "But I have higher orders. We’re instructed to let you have a day in hell and a day in heaven, and then you are to choose where you’d like to go for all eternity."
"Actually, I think I’d prefer heaven", said the woman. "Sorry, we have rules…" at which St. Peter put the HR manager into the downward bound elevator.
As the doors opened in Hell she stepped out onto a beautiful golf course. In the distance was a country club; around her were many friends, past fellow executives, all smartly dressed, happy, and cheering for her. They ran up and kissed her on both cheeks, and they talked about old times.
They played a perfect round of golf and afterwards went to the country club where she enjoyed a superb steak and lobster dinner. She met the Devil (who was actually rather nice) and she had a wonderful night telling jokes and dancing.
Before she knew it, it was time to leave. Everyone shook her hand and waved goodbye as she stepped into the elevator. The elevator went back up to heaven where St. Peter was waiting for her. "Now it’s time to spend a day in heaven," he said.
So she spent the next 24 hours lounging around on clouds, playing the harp and singing; which was almost as enjoyable as her day in Hell. At the day’s end St. Peter returned. "So," he said, "You’ve spent a day in hell and you’ve spent a day in heaven". "You must choose between the two."
The woman thought for a second and replied: "Well, heaven is certainly lovely, but I actually had a better time in hell. I choose Hell."
Accordingly, St. Peter took her to the elevator again and she went back down to hell. When the doors of the elevator opened she found herself standing in a desolate wasteland covered in garbage and filth. She saw her friends dressed in rags, picking up rubbish and putting it in old sacks. The Devil approached and put his arm around her.
"I don’t understand," stuttered the HR manager, "The other day I was here, and there was a golf course, and a country club. We ate lobster, and we danced and had a wonderful happy time. Now all there is, is just dirty wasteland of garbage and all my friends look miserable."
The Devil simply looked at her and smiled, "Yesterday we were recruiting you, today you’re staff."

An engineer dies and stands before the pearly gates, St. Peter smiled at him then looked at an iPad in his hands. His expression changed and with a sad look in his eye he turned to the engineer and said "I am very sorry, but I'm afraid you didn't make it."
With a flash the engineer found himself in the depths of hell.
Thinking hell was too hot, he looked around for materials and soon had improvised an air conditioning system that was powered by the heat of hell and reduced the temperature to a comfortable 25 degrees.
Pleased with himself he then got stuck in and jury rigged a satellite receiver and gave free TV to all of hell.
Within the next few weeks he managed to get hell broadband, cable TV, running hot and cold water, a Starbucks, McDonalds, KFC, and was working on negotiating a deal with Dominos pizza.
About the same time God phoned up the devil to see how he was doing. He was very surprised to hear how well things were going in hell and demanded to know how all these changes came about.
The devil laughed and said "it was that engineer you sent us"
God was most displeased and yelled "how did you get an engineer? you know you are not allowed them. send him back immediately"
The devil laughed again and said "no way. he's mine now and what do you think you can do about it"
God was furious and demanded "return him to me at once or I will sue"
This finished the devil off completely. Rolling about on the floor laughing he said...
"Sue! And just where do you think you will get a lawyer"

A pilot based in Adelaide, Australia, took an artistically inspired flight path on Tuesday morning.
Australia’s ABC News reported that between 8:53am and 11:57am a flight training pilot in a Diamond Star plane followed a course that drew two penises then spelled out “I’M BORED”—all of which could only be detected by a flight tracker.
The flight tracking company FlightAware shared an image of the tracked flight with Gizmodo, which is also available on its website. “It is fairly common for pilots to get creative and trace words or other images in the sky while they fly,” a FlightAware spokesperson told Gizmodo when we asked if crude images drawn out by pilots is rare.
The spokesperson did not directly comment about the suggestive nature of the image they originally provided and instead referenced proposals, birthday messages, and a Texas Longhorn that appeared in their system after a heated University of Texas football game.

When the Buccaneers were sent to the gulf to be used as target designators, they were controlled by American air traffic controllers.
They didn't have a clue about the capabilities of the bucc , or really RAF pilots.
One radio exchange that was widely leaked always made me laugh.

The Harrier called "Cristine"
There are stories about haunted or "jinxed" aircraft, some exaggerated and some just fanciful, but this one concerns a troubled a Harrier and is definitely one that makes you think ..........
In common with a lot of airfields (usually military or with a military history) the base often has a decommissioned aircraft parked by the main entrance in the role of 'gate guardian'.
RAF Wittering once had this one. The aircraft in question is a Harrier GR-7A, serial no. ZD469 - an aircraft whose unfortunate operational career led her to be Christened 'Christine' after Stephen King's possessed car in the novel of the same name.

It's alleged that her removal from active service came as a great relief to many pilots and ground crew.
Here is a quick summary of her many misfortunes. Compared to a 'normal' aircraft of the same type she never remained serviceable for long enough to be economically viable and furthermore gained a reputation for being actively dangerous:
An engineer was trapped by sudden un-commanded closure of undercarriage doors.
Then a second, almost identical, accident in which a technician nearly had the top of his head sliced off.
Twice damaged after falling off jacks with gear raised at an Italian air base whilst on ops over Bosnia, flown back to Harrier hospital in Boeing C-17 Globemaster.
In-flight collision with high-tension power cables in Norway ... resulting in a Globemaster trip again.
Three 'significant' bird strikes - quite remarkable given her very low hours at the time.
Cockpit canopy became detached during a flight over Canada - aircraft returned to UK in a C-17 transport again.
Damaged by shrapnel from Taliban missile while parked at Kandahar.
The aircraft was so accident-prone and un-reliable that she'd only managed 1,000 flying hours since 1990 and the airframe was pretty much written off as a viable warplane. Anyway, some parts could, in theory, be re-purposed. So ... back to England by Boeing again....
On arrival at Brize Norton she took a tumble whilst being unloaded from the Globemaster, after another technically sound bit of ZD469 appeared to have self-destructed.
When one of the remaining un-damaged parts of 'Christine' - the tail fin assembly - was fitted to another Harrier the previously reliable recipient aircraft (ZD375) it immediately became dogged by endless technical problems unrelated to those airframe components, giving more fuel to the fire of superstition.
Hence the RAF understandably gave up on Christine , eventually deciding to cut their losses by retiring her to adorn the entrance to RAF Wittering.
And then... after being tidied up, polished and bedded down, a motorist passing the base on the A1 lost control of her vehicle (a Renault Scenic) for unknown reasons, swerving off the dual carriageway to collide rather dramatically and accurately with Christine.

Interesting Story of this ill-fated bird, thanks for sharing it with us Glynn.
During my Service time in the German Navy, we've had our own Christine - christened for the very same reason after Stephen King's possessed car/novel.
Some day in 1992 Christine went in maintenance, 2nd PE was due.
Turned out she had quite a couple of structural issues and the repairs got postponed over and over and over again.
At some point we started cannibalizing Christine as we had many spare parts on short supply and other helicopters were much closer to being airworthy again.
Years went by, with Christine standing in the last corner of the maintenance hangar, being only a shadow of her former self.
Then in 1995 we got a new Admiral who was very keen to climb even higher ranks in the German Navy.
He ordered all Naval Wings back to NATO CR standards, which means 80% of planes had to be airworthy at any given time.
Our Wing Commander made a fool of the Admiral when he publically replied to his speech: "Admiral we'd love to achieve 80%, but taking into account that we've got just one engine for each our helicopters, I'm not quite sure how this will pay out."
That much for that Wing Commander. We got a fresh one who didn't dare to contradict.
This meant that anything looking remotely like a helicopter had to be brought back into service again.
Including Christine.
It's been a tremendous effort, but in late 1995 Christine left the maintenance hangar for her first ground runs.
Soon it became clear that she was "blessed" with many unique "features". It took a few weeks to get all certifications together, but when the final day of her first flight came, nobody wanted to man the plane. The pilots squadron would draw straws, and the loser crew demanded to have a specialist of each technical division with them on the flight, so we would draw straws as well and I became part of the crew for the maiden flight.
We survived 8)
I don't think Christine was particularly worse than any other of our helicopters, but opinions differ on that matter.
Right after I left the Navy, another crew made a hard deck landing on a ship which got Christine to be completely dismantled again and basically become rebuilt from scratch.
She's been having a good life thereafter, even got a special painting for the 50 years SAR jubilee.

It happens to pilots as well !!
A friend of mine was doing a training flight through the valleys of south Wales , when the Jaguar E lost all power. At 250 feet climbing up a valley in wales, he had very little time to troubleshoot the problem and before he really got chance to do anything his rear pulled the tigger lever and he found himself looking down at his bird as it gently dove into the ground,
Six months of medical treatment and painful exercises later he reported back for work to be told he was converting to the Harrier.
He went through the conversion course with no problems , got to love the Harrier. Until he was sent for more low level training again in Wales. The first day was fine. The second day, same thing, total loss of power at 250 feet. This time he pulled the tigger handle himself but had no time to properly brace resulting in spinal injuries.
Nine months later he reported back for work, and was told he was off flying duties for a while. I can't remember how long he was grounded , but I remember he was whinging and whining that if he didn't get flying again soon he would transfer to the army.
Eventually he got back to flying duty, again in the Harrier and for a while he was happy.
Then he was flying in a joint training exercises with the Americans. An American pilot in a F15 managed to get a missile lock on him and pulled the trigger to record the shot, and was shocked to see a nine lima jump off his wind tip and fly towards Simon's Harrier.
He screamed and shouted on the radio, Simon heard him and the tigger handle was pulled again.
That was him done.
He lost three aircraft, none of them were lost due to his piloting skill. However he was considered an "unlucky pilot" and the RAF had no intention of giving him a fourth bird to crash.

We used to do a skit when we were bored.
We would drive to a village pub and my friend Marc would walk in with dark sunglasses on and a walking cane making out he was blind.
I would get us a couple of pints, then after we had drunk them I would go to the toilet.
Marc would then pretend to panic, yelling for me. He would swing around banging on the furniture, knocking lasses over, etc. until I came running out of the toilet.
I would then apologise to everyone, clam him down and walk him out to the car.
I would help him into the DRIVERS SEAT, and then run around to the passenger seat and we would tear off watching the stunned faces of the punters in the pub.

How To Bathe A Cat
Thoroughly clean the toilet.
Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted.
Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape). CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for anything they can find. The cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from your toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.
Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "powerwash" and "rinse" which I have found to be quite effective.
Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.
Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.
