Installer

The HSFX 7.0 install package is an all-in-one installer, that includes all the content from previous HSFX releases with version 7.0. NO other patches are required.

Recommended Installation

We recommend that you should make a copy of an existing IL-2 folder and it's sub-directories to install HSFX Version 7.0 into, in case you have any problems. If you do have problems, you need a good version to copy from, to start again.

The installer for HSFX History Mod Version 7.0 consists of the following files ;

You need to download each file and place them all in one folder together.

 - HSFX_Version_7_0.EXE  -  650 Mb.
 - HSFX_Version_7_0.W02  -  650 Mb.
 - HSFX_Version_7_0.W03  -  650 Mb.
 - HSFX_Version_7_0.W04  -   62 Mb.
 - Part2_Ver_7.EXE ..........-  650 Mb.
 - Part2_Ver_7.W02..........-  650 Mb.
 - Part2_Ver_7.W03..........-  620 Mb. 
 - Part3_Ver_7.EXE...........-   650 Mb.
 - Part3_Ver_7.W02..........-  650 Mb.

This is a three part install, due to the size limitations of the installer software used. The part2_Ver_7.EXE file is the second part, and
Part3_Ver_7.EXE the third, both are executed automatically by the HSFX_Version_7_0.EXE. To start the installation run HSFX_Version_7_0.EXE

This is a very large release, because it contains all Mod content from the very beginning of HSFX History Mod.

Downloading

The HSFX History Mod is available to downloads via Torrents, much faster than via File Transfer Protocol.

First you need to download uTorrent, which is the software for downloading via Torrents.

1. To get the Torrent Software

follow the instructions, easy and fast.


2. Download HSFX Version 7.0. Use this torrent.

Steps required to install HSFX History Mod Version 7.0

You must follow the sequence below.

 Step 1 : Use the jsgme switcher, and disable all installed mods, including the HSFX Mod.

 Step 2 : Ensure that version of IL-2 that you are updating with HSFX 7.0, has already been updated to IL-2 Version 4.12.1, the Team Daidalos
 patch. If you have just installed the 4.12.1 patch run it at least once to be sure it is working.


 Step 3 : Install HSFX version 7.0 Run HSFX_Version_7_0.EXE and answer the questions displayed by the installer, Ensure that when the installer asks for which folder to install Version 7.0 into, that you point it at the folder for the Il2 Sturmovik 46 directory you want to update.

IMPORTANT : For users with previous versions of The History Mod and any other Mod packages installed, the Version 7.0 Installer will delete the previous versions Files and all files, and rename the Mods folders (jsgmemods), as they must be updated to work with the IL-2 Team Daedalus 4.12.1 patch to function. If you want to keep these folders, you should rename them, or move them before running the Installer.

 Step 4 : Use the jsgme switcher, and enable the HSFX History mod.

The installer and the torrent file are now both updated. You don't need the below.

If you are downloading the original version, delete the torrent file from your torrent client. SHut your torrent client.
Download the new  HSFX version 7.0 MkII.torrent and start it up. Should filecheck the same folder and you only have to download the differance.

No problem Charlie, sh*t happens.
The most annoying thing about it is that the torrents have just reached a solid seeding level when they have to be pulled now.
Anyway, I'll regrab the next updated torrent and will keep it seeding from my 24/7 box as soon as it becomes available.

Download speed now "zero". Peers disconected. Very strange. Guess torrent won't resume...

while I still love my DBW/TFM install and will stick with it for the time being, the new features of HSFX7/4.12 look very tempting!
now I just need to figure out how to properly mod that beast and what to get for it to mod with :D

If you were part way through downloading with the old one, remove that torrent, shut down Utorrent. Then restart Utorrent with the new Hsfx torrent.

It will recheck the files and keep much of your old progress (because it downloads to a folder of the same name) but replace the altered parts of the installer with the new ones.

(even if you have all of the faulty installer, do the above and it will effectively update what you have.)

I got the changeover all wrong (grrr), deleted stuff and have to start from scratch with 75% of the old one downloaded.  Never mind, it'll be worth the wait. Am seeding.. Thanks for your work on this

I completely agree that it is is worth  waiting for a few weeks though so that we can find anything nasty that has slipped through and update the base hsfx 7.0 with a  (hopefully small...) patch or hotfix  (sadly almost inevitable with a small team of people & something of this scale and complexity).

This of course will then also benefit anything that is subsequently built on top.

For everyone who is experiencing difficulty getting the torrent working (dropbox account is temporarily closed for abnormal amount of traffic, and 4shared is a bad site that requires an account and login to download the file):

Click, open in your bit torrent client, and it should start working after it downloads the metadata. Assuming your browser can handle Magnet links...

Charlie, for those of us, who have accidentally started the new torrent from scratch but have downloaded the old one already (like me), could you please tell which files are identical?
That way we could just stop the torrent, put those identically files in place, let the torrent recheck itself and restart it for the remaining few bytes again.

I left the torrent running the whole night, 11 hours done and 2 to go...

Don't work with SAS Modact 5.22?
Of course not. The Pope isn't Buddhist either.

The Updated version has a new pt3. So just the last three pt3 archives changed.
So you could copy the first 2 parts into the torrent download folder, stop the torrent temporarily and then force-recheck.

Okay, so I downloaded the mod, installed and got the 5% CTD. SO.... I got the two .sfs soundfiles and installed them and guess what? That's right, I got the 5% CTD again.

It was installed on a nice clean 4.12.1 install.

The files are there in the main directory. I just reinstalled the whole shooting match again and it still crashes at 5%.

I did get the torrent from M4T. Was THAT file updated with the new content as stated in an earlier post?

Not all of my campaigns for HSFX6 do work flawlessly with HSFX 7, because i used the P 38 G15 in my westfront campaign (and Defense of the Reich campaign i think) which isn´t included in HSFX 7 anymore.

Installed the first version and downloaded the 2 sfs files. Got it working like a charm (no need to download the new version ?).

I saw that only very few planes are not flyable (the Danish D-XXI, for example). Will these planes become flyable in the near future ?

Or should create a MODS folder and install the D-XXI different cockpits mod ? same for other non-flyable...

The files were downloaded with the updated MkII torrent, tested and then uploaded. So there should be no problems related to missing sfs files.

The files have been up for 10 hours and there haven't been any negative reports so far.

Trying to instal HSFX 7.0 but in the middle of installation comes out a message ( Little window) "Insert new disk,place installation disk#2 into the floppy drive & press the ok button".

I'm using it. With TotalMODder I needed 2 minutes to make it sorted. Later I will give details if you want.

SAS ModAct5.22 (without flyables because they ovwewrite some HSFX7 planes) over HSFX7 plus several MODs of me and others.

 It doesn't matter which way I install it ( By the way I've installed all the previous versions without problems ).
It installs up to "fb_hfx3doo5.sfs" and the error message to insert disc # 2 comes up.

I installed HSFX 7, I put the arquivos  SFS (fb_hfxsounds.sfs) in the root folder of the IL-2, but nothing happened, the HSFX not work for me. :'(

I didn't need to put the these  files. As for Bravo, I moved the Hsfx version7 exe, Part2 vers 7 Exe and Part 3 Vers 7 exe in another folder called hsfx 7. Than I double clicked each win rar (hsfx Version 7.0.W02,03,04, Part2 Vers7 Wo2,Wo3 etc) to open and dragged the content to the new folder. When everything was ready I installed where the game is. The problem was in the winrar .

   But I use a slightly evolved MissionProCombo tan the original in SAS ModAct5. But I think that before activating it the one of the MA5 worked too.

There is no JSGME in my clean version 4.12.1.
after installing HSFX 7, I open JSGME and active mods.
I think HSFX I downloaded is become corrupted, but I have no sure.  :'(

First impression on the new HSFX 7.0. I noticed that when activated the flyby by Tiger the outside view of the aircraft is smaller . This was an issue also on the previous versions with Tiger sound but there was a file which fixed it. Does anyone remember it ?. Second note: When you hit bldgs with rockets they do not burn , you see an explosion and smoke than nothing more.
The rest seems pretty good.

Good God for once I got an upgrade right, thanks to the folks at M4T (who have a thread, with links to downloads for a complete virgin build from il-2 46 all the way to 4.12.1m) I did the re-build and installed HSFX 7 and 7.1 and it runs like a dream, had to re-set my graphics (I lost my sea texture) and will have to create a MODs folder....But well pleased...Thanks for all the hard work guys. ;D

For people using the tiger flyby. You will notice that the view of the aircraft is smaller , to fix it donwload the HSFX SAS Modact 5.2, in it you will find a folder Jsgmmods, in it you will find a folder "Enable with tiger flyby". Put this folder inside the Jsgmmods of HSFX 7.0 ( After disabling them first ) then re-enable them and you will see the aircraft in the normal size (F2 view).
This until a new version of Tiger sound will become available for HSFX 7.0.

The only problem I have had so far with the 7.0 is that when I tried to generate a mission on that huge map called MWoI (Mediterran War over Italy) which I had dragged from 6.0 (where it worked fine), I got the infamous message "Mission loading failed: Mesh 3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/mono.sim not created" - which means that my vid card ran out of memory. In case someone encounters the same problem, here's a solution that helped me:

if the G15 is included in your install everything should work - but i will create the cmapaign with Asuras dgen mod from scratch with new maps and stuff for HSFX 7 :)

I also have question about compressibility (or something like that). In original game its not modelled. I read that Bf109 needed 4 s to roll 45 degree at 400 mph. Similar time for Spitfire. In game i can roll without problems at this speed. Elevator should also stiff at higher speed. In Bf109 it was so hard, that pilot cant blackout pulling stick with full strenght. Spitfire had a little bit better elevator.
It is possible to model it? It probably should work like nonlinearity, but depends from speed and multiplier for planes (other control for planes).

Okay, so I finally got 7 working. Stupid noob mistake on my part. Did not realize I had never applied the 4.12.1 patch to my stock game.

On a side note. I noticed that using HSFX 7 in expert mode I don't get some of the nifty features that 6 had like the "abbreviated" messages while playing online. I also noticed that my speedbar now displays only info in groups of 10 like the stock game instead of the groups of 1 like HSFX 6. I really liked that feature.

Hi, this isn't a bug, it was a deliberate decision made a while ago (no idea who by) and was in HSFX 6 as well. Someone changed the runway textures because the 'snow' plates are incredibly difficult to distinguish from surrounding area. I've played about with this for a while, including substituting different types of snow across the map, but haven't come up with a solution to my liking - yet. Your post has reminded me to get on with it  ;). The snowy runways on Svalbard show up just fine, so I think I'll try with them. If I can, we'll get it straightened out and sorted as soon as possible, and added to a hotfix/patch whenever.

The hsfx7.0 installer automatically places  jsgme.exe into the folder that it is installed into (its included in the installer, you shouldn't have to download it).

If you don't  have one,  Your installer has 'missed' the il2 root directory.   

It would also explain why you don't have  a Spitfire Mk XIV !

Is that torrent still active? I only see three (3) peers.

I downloaded the version from Mission4Today, the down load, and the last three files are empty according to the torrent app. And there was info missing from a few of the other files as well. I down loaded the last three files twice, so it's not my download.

Extracted the hsfx_control sfs, and checked out effects, is the smoke from tracers adjustable. Looks like sheets, but I do like how you extended the Plane Smoke that 4.12 cuts off 100m behind the plane.

Been downloading for 5 days now.
Only one part to go :)
So far seeded back 1.2GB.
Good speed for me is 50-60kb/s, but this often drops to <5kb/s.

says I have 5 days 7hrs, or three weeks + some days, depending on whether the torrent wants to see me spin into a state of depression after lifting my spirits.

Salut Monsieur,
There is a jsgme option called Francisation_HSFX7  . Disable that.

If its not showing as on, disable everything in jsgme and re-run the installer again and make sure that you don't enable it.  (it maybe a good idea to delete it from your jsgmemods folder in the longer term once you sort it out ?.

Hello,

Can someone confirm that the Direct download on Mission4Today has been fixed, has anyone downloaded it and had it work? The torrent app says the file I down loaded last week (oct 11) has the last three (3) files empty, and only three files are 100%. Thanks in advance.

I think your asking about hardware requirements? If so, it really depends on how many people will connect and or how many AI you plan to have up. I'm running it on a dual chip PIII 1Ghz with 2 Gig Ram and have no problems with up to 6 people and 60 - 70 AI

You also need a good internet connection for more people

It works by creating a MODS-folder  .... BUT...  You can only install ONE additional plane !   :-[
If You ad more planes You will have a 60% CTD  :P

That doesn't fix it. I remember in previous versions of HSFX with Tiger sound we had the same problem and there was a file that fixed the the issue resetting the regular size on the outside view of the planes.

There is another conf.ini command that works in UV3:

flybyFov=60 (your desired FOV, can be set up to 60 I think)

That is a setting I'm familiar with that change how close the plane fly by but it doesn't change the size of the plane when you return in normal flight. As said before, there is a specific file that fix it but I don't remember where it was for download.

Go and check the Dgen and mission threads. Its a subject in itself.   
For BoE campaigns you do need to have BoE and to have installed it at some point into the copy of il2 that you are using. (it was a separate pay for add on).

Getting a memory crash when missions start up since i downloaded and installed 412.2, plays fine in 412.2 with hsfx disabled in jsgme. Have tried using 512 ram before and in hsfx it worked fine. any ideas?

4.12.2 is newer that HSFX7, which is valid only for 4.12.1. You will have to wait a pair of days to get a HSFX7 patch ready for 4.12.2.

Downloaded and installed the AutoUpdater(Beta) for HSFX 7 which includes the patch dor 4.12.2, testes and so far the game runs fine, no problems. It reads correctly now 4.12.2 for HSFX 7.01.

IL-2 root folder. Should be named "HSFX_client_updater.exe" (or so).


If it isn't present, download the beta updater from that other forum the HSFX guys post in (forgot the name).

Thanks for tip.. Autoupdater not in the default package, but I downloaded it ok... it uses some whacky static folder address so if you change the name of your game folder it doesn't try and find it, it just errors out... figured that out and changed the name of my game folder to what it was expecting, then it worked fine..

(but bear in mind the 7.0.1 from the Auto-Updater is still a BETA...but it seems to be pretty stable now...we are going to give it some time ...and so its worth running the updater quite frequently at the moment (you may get tiny changes, you won't have to download it all again, just the differences.)

I would like to add some planes and have all (if possible, when there are mods for them like the Zlin 26) AI planes flyable... has this issue been solved ? do we need a new DiffFM mod ?

They Load OK for me Leone,  if you have added anything map related , try disabling it and then work through your additions adding them one at a time until you find what is causing this. Its not a 'vanilla' hsfx problem.

Ok -I deleted all in the Quick folder and it was full. I had only ran one mission.
After  deleting all it still CTD @ 60 %.
Very strange when all to other versions of HSFX has always worked in the pass.

Gunny , anything you put in a Mods folder takes priority over anything in the Files folder.  Hsfx is all in the Files folder.
Expert mode also uses a different FM encryption. If you add a new set of FM's in the Mods folder and then run expert mode, the ones you added will not be in the correct format in expert mode (but take priority), hence CTD.
Not an hsfx problem, its an adding a new set of FM's into a Mods folder problem. You may be able to get a DiffFM version that supports expert as well as stock though  ?...(I don' t know if there is one, there used to be for v6.0)

Will it work with the 4.13?.

No, because 4.13 does not exist yet and will probably be about a year away (guessing  from past major patches).
(they only just posted their first development update).
No way on earth that anything now will run with it until its released + we revise what we have.

How to work with the 4.12.2?.

Update to 4.12.2.
Download the Auto_Updater and use that to get the 7.0.1 (beta) patch currently available. Its beta so run the updater often, but its very stable now.
We could have called it final a while ago but are getting our breath back at the moment.

I'm also the victim of the 5 % crash. Got it from dropboxusercontent via torrent.  "- Part3_Ver_7.W03..........-  333 Mb." so says the manual. But my computer says 341.363 Kb.
Can this be the reason?

Hi guys

I know this is probably a bit outdated but Ive installed HSFX 7, patched IL2 to 4.12.2 and updatedHSFX using the auto updater, everything ran fine to begin with. I turn my PC off and then on again this morning, now for some unknown reason the game simply will not run, it gets to 5% on the loading screen when i try to run it and cuts out, ran fine yesterday so i have no idea what has caused this. Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated.

yOU HAVE TO INSTALL il2 and to update it to 4.12.2. Only afer that, install HSFX7 and run the updater.

Thanks Willy. That was the same info I had (and posted in the =gRiJ= forum). I was wondering if there was some more news to see if the work was in progress or not. I guess we'll have to be patient.

My  first post here in a long time.


Last nite I installed HSFX 7.0 over a freshly installed 1946 patched up to 4.12.2m

My goal was to get back up to HSFX again after some problems I had with it. I had the same install for a bout 5 years,
finally kaputed trying to get it up  to 4.13 because I forgot to disable everything in the JSGME and that really wacked it good. 

The biggest problem I had was simply  installing the game from the disk since it had been years since I had done it.
On windows 10.
It took a couple of tries but it worked.
First thing was that the exe for launching the game was not there.  WTF?
Another install fixed it.
 I patched it up.

Then came the HSFX install.
I kicked myself when I realized I went too far going to 4.12.2m.
I face-palmed, almost went back and patched up another game to 4.12.1

I went ahead and gave it a shot anyway  over 4.12.2m,  and surprisingly turned out good.

I don't know why, it just did.   

I now have a freshly installed HSFX 7.0,  4.12.1m
Took five hours, I'm not gonna touch it for a while.

I seem to be reviving a lot of old threads. Have HSFX 7.03 installed in the 4.12.2 "beta" and only have one issue left before I can start learning this new/old beast. Does the FOV mod work in HSFX? I have the latest NG_CAM v2 installed (mostly for the FOV mod) via JGSME but I get no results beyond stock FOV. I need ~120 on my triple monitor setup to be close to correct..

HSFX6.0 if I remember well need to be installed on top of Il-2 4.11.1 not really a common version then better to try this version

    HSFX 7.03 modpack patching guide

   1) Get your virgin 4.07 IL2 1946 Game on Disc , Steam whatever . . .

   Make sure you install it above the Windows program.

   2) Upgrade to 4.12.2

   Follow the instructions

Heya, thank you. I have it running now with HSFX 7.0. Does it make sense now to patch to HSFX 7.3, or should i leave as it is? It seems to work now. But if there are any advantages from 7.3 i will do it.

Make a copy of your working 7.0 first , so if there is a cock up you
can still fly.
ToMoose adapted Jack Stones Big Birds Campaign to HSFX7 so it should work
for you either way.

So i tried patching to 7.0.3 but it wouldnt work (sticks at 7.0 even after running all 3 exes / mods switched of in jsgme) am i missing something?

Edit: nvm, it worked with another download.
