I am pleased to present you the Dewoitine D.520 of F_Red as a standalone mod.

This mod is just the Dewoitine D.520 of F_Red present in his pack, and extract form it for the delight of all.

The only changes made are designed to make the cockpit compatible with versions that don't have a complex system to startup.
These changes are essentially withdrawing some animations or effects available in the orignal pack. Note that it is therefore possible that there are problems with some animations. Please report them to me.

This mod is made from a 4.12, but it should not be a problem with other versions (if you could confirm that ...). Diff_Fm mod is require to use the classic version and incluse for the HSFX version.

HSFX 7 Version: https://www.mediafire.com/download/40a9pce7i2e2f23/D520_IES_HSFX_beta1.rar

I am on DBW1.71 for V4.10 and get the 70% crash which is related to the ini files.
Entries are added to the air.ini, technics.ini, and stationary.ini but I also need to add entries to 'plane', 'weapons' and 'Self Stationary Planes' which I don't have in STD/com/maddox/il2/objects.
Are they hidden somewhere else or is a modded V4.10 out of question?

you can find Weapons and self stationary and plane docs int the STD/i18n folder.

Please try this mod without the self stationary plane, sometimes it can cause crashes.

with DBW normally you don't need diff fm mod.

Where did you drop the  'plane', 'weapons' and 'Self Stationary Planes' files?
I dropped the folder D520_IES in #DBW or needs it to be installed somewhere else. I'm asking all this 'cause I never installed a plane.

no

I already wrote this answer but,

the Plane.ru and stationary.ru and weapons. ru files can be found in STD/i18n

but these entries just extra informations for the game, you don't need these for to activate an aircraft in IL2

Please try to run this mod without the stationary plane ( delete the stationary plane entries for this aircraft)

You need Diff_Fm mod...

DBW includes DiffFM.
The [Self Stationary planes] is a separate section inside the stationary.ini and the technics.ini.
I'm sure that the entry of the stationary plane was added to the wrong place ([StationaryPlanes] section).
Plane and weapons ( which in 4.10 are planes_ru and weapons_ru.properties) are just display text, they can not cause a crash. I recommend testing mods first with the air.ini entry only, if its not working then you dont need to bother with the 4 other files.

I deleted everything related to this plane and before giving it a 2nd try I checked the game and everything works fine after starting up the game.
At 2nd try without DiffFM, and only added the entry to the air.ini I again get the 70% crash.  >:(

ehm, Uufflakke, try to disable the two files related to the SSP inside the D520 folder if you do not add the entries in the respective ini files for them..
I did it on my install and have no problems, I have both D520s up and running, this new one and the older one..

:D

1- I do not want to touch that plane!
2- therefore requested a conversion while this mod works great in 409?

There is the problem of sound UV2 / UV3 to redo by changing the external FM.

If someone wants to make an easy to install DBW version, I'll put in the first post.
For 4.09, I think it should work directly ... (to be checked).

Classic version link in first post works perfectly in 4.12.2. I love the sounds, although a tiny odd behavior of the sound if the throttle is left at full 0%. This is not a problem though, its a beautiful piece of art all around. Many thanks to the developers.  ;D Its now part of my "essentials" list.

One bug I noticed in DBW 1.71:
During flight pressing the key for opening the canopy gets ripped off but in external view cockpit is still closed. Doing the same thing on the airfield everything is okay.

Regarding the D.520.
I know this is according to the SAS' rulez.

But it just feels wrong according to my perception of what Histo archieved before and probably did with IES.
This is a free forum and even as SAS member I can say what I think, it is exactly this.

Carry on.

P.S.:
If I had to bet in all honesty what a future kickass IL-2 offspring could be, I'd bet on IES1-and SAS. Sad one of them is down now. Seems aside new codes Freddy was even on dynamical cockpit shadows.
And tbh having a map-a single map-taken without asking, is one thing, but takling the essence of another modpack-in this case one of the new two planes from a fully ramp startable environment-and posting it ripped from its context is plain shooting sparrows with cannonballs.
That is my opinion and I leave it at that with no further comment or flaming. THE very least I owe my former team mates at Histo.

I don't know if it is clear for everybody, but the Original Ranwers plane was this one:

D520         air.D520 1                        NOINFO   f01  SUMMER

And the IES1 is this one:

D520         air.Dewoitine520 1                        NOINFO   f01  SUMMER

Those who cannot load it I think that it was because it was not properly defined.

In the head of this thread there are no corresponding air.ini lines and there isn't either any ReadMe in the pack itself.

Other thing very out of standard and complicated was the fact that inside the mod there are the static.ini, air.ini, etc, mixedwith the rest of the contents. And you would be overwridding your own ones if you use this pack as it comes.

It is incorrect.

I got a Readme inside the pack giving following air.ini:

Dewoitine520      air.Dewoitine520 1                    NOINFO  fr01  SUMMER

I agree about included SSP, it is undoubtedly a complication excessive for the average user.

At any rate, for me (4.09m+UP2.01) it does not work: game is fully loaded and I can see the Dewoitine in QMB preview, but when I enter simulation screen freezes and game screws-up (I must hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and then click on "terminate application" :( )

I don't know what readme are you talking about. In the .rar published there isn't any other than the one of the AutoDiffFM, but not of the plane

The SSP included with this plane does not work because it does not call the new name of the Class (Dewoitine520).
I can only advise you to remove both Class SSP and not add the lines in the stationary and technics.
If after that you do not have the 520 that works ... InstantLog + LOG!  ;)
Work fine in my UP2 with the Mike file !

Epervier,
I think that the versions for HSFX7 (my one) and the other .rar are different!!! Something more confusing even. Look at the name of the file opened in my WinRAR.

So obviously I made my post for those who used the download I used and not for those who state:

@Benitomuso:
I don't understand exactly what you mean in reply #31 but I get Freddy's Dewoitine D520 to work only in combination with Ranwers version.
Just to check if that is really the case I deleted everything from my install related to both planes.
Next step:
- I dropped again the entire folder D520_IES (by Freddy) in #DBW and added in air.ini: Dewoitine520      air.Dewoitine520 1                    NOINFO  fr01  SUMMER
- After starting up the game I get the 70% crash.
- I dropped the folder D520 (by Ranwers) in #DBW and added in air.ini: D520         air.D520 1                        NOINFO   f01  SUMMER
- After starting up the game everything is back to normal and I can select both Dewoitines.

I really have no clue why I need to have both versions installed, there must be a logical reason for that which is perhaps beyond my knowledge, but I am glad I got this plane to show up.

It seems you have the problem I pointed out:

-Delete the i18n folder which will overwrite you current definitions of plane names, etc.

-Delete the com folder which has inside an air.ini and others which will conflicto if you don't have everything as where this MOD was generated.

-Use in your original air.ini the Dewoitine520 definiton

-Don't mix up anything from the original Ranwers version

Any help, please ?

EDIT: Something strange. As Uufflakke said, after putting in #DBW Ranwers' Dewoitine 520 (even without inserting its line in air.ini) this one started to work. It seems that there is missing FM for 4.10 (DBW 1.71)  in original file, and then it uses Ranwers' D520 FM file ? ???

Now, we only miss some skins for that plane...
There were 2 skins in the making by Puma but I don't know if they will see daylight or if the paintjob will stay in the hangar.

Dewoitne520 Skins (Credits: Puma, Template by Arsenal):
https://www.mediafire.com/download/ob8sy68b9gk9s6g/Dewoitine520_Skins.7z

unzip the folder "Dewoitne520" and copy it into your paintschemes/skins dir.

No library in this case, this skins are brandnew,
(and not compatible with the old ones, also different skinfolder)
I just packed them today.  ;)

off topic:
any idea where I find a valid link to good old LALs Hangar Mod?  :-X
(apart from extracting Boomers pack ?)
/off topic

EDIT: thanks to Mick I have a valid link now.  ;)

 8) Hello to all - it works in my 409 parallely with Ranvers version (made instalation as described by Epervier and voila!).Cockpit is amazing, but now I have found that there are 3 types of skins - one type is working with Ranvers / one is working with this new one / and there is third one type which doesn't fit to any of previously mentioned mods ??

... and there is third one type which doesn't fit to any of previously mentioned mods ?

... there was a time when we didn't have any D520 in the game, so the Lagg3 was used instead (because she resembles the D520), with French paintschemes ...

Try to import one of these "unknown" skins into your Lagg3 skin folder, then use it in the QMB with the proper Lagg3 type ... if I am not wrong you should have the answer to your question ...  ;)

8)Hello Mick, yes I remember those times ( I'm fan of this game and playing it since 2001.) and have "Dewoitine 520 - skinned LaGG3" in skins folder but what I found last days is not what You mentioned - it was some version of "real" D520 skin because shape of parts was D520 ( but with different layout of elements if compared with Ranvers & new D520 ).

They were also issued a couple of skins for the Claymore's D.520, not released so far.

I see this also. I assume its the modders' attempt to simulate the thickness of the presumably "armored" glass, a nice touch I thought, if a bit odd looking at first.

You do not have to add all the mod aircraft, just the stationary mod and then the entries for the aircraft you want. ;)

You will have to have the stock entries active for the mod to work though.

I could make a SSP but you would not be able to use it for taxi to takeoff in your 4.12 install. :D

I am using DBW 1.71 and the only way I could get this one to work was like others by installing the one from Rawners. Otherwise I would get 60% and 70% crashes.

I love this plane though! I also have to say that if all of our cockpits could be updated to look this beautiful, I would never play another flight sim again.

I have installed the classic version but there is some problem with the sound as other people reported in this topic.
Especially with throttle at 0% there's a strange echo or similar.
Even it's impossible to hear the machine gun rumors when I press them.
I re-installed the old version.
I'm afraid because the graphic and the cockpit are very beauty.
I play with 4.12.2 mod 5.3.

I installed both D-520, this one in file ( faaD520_IES ) I placed after Ranwer's one ( D520_v1.1 ), cause I wanted the stationnaries... and sounds...

Both versions are working fine together for me, and as far as I know.

So I got Ranwers version sounds when I do fly this bird version. All is peachy!  8)

Bonus: you access all skins made for either versions...

I also noticed some problems with the sound, first it sounds strange engine at low revs how to jam, and secondly, in my opinion the engine is too loud.

Well, folks, I had tried pretty much everything to get this beautiful bird into my game.  I'm running an antique setup Version 4.11.1m with SAS activator 4.0.  I know, I know, dark ages stuff, but it does well on  my little rig.  Anywho, I got the D520 finally into the game.  I'm posting this in case anyone else wants to give it a shot.  I have no idea what nature of the "D520" file is that you find in the "classic" download of this mod, but there exists in Ranwers mod of this plane a file with that exact name, simply "D520".
I deleted the "D520" file which came with this mod's classic version and replaced it with Ranwers.
Voila!
Both appear fully operational now.  If any modders see that I may have screwed things up by doing this, please post so that I can make a correction, but, more importantly, so that others don't repeat the error.  If it IS a safe thing to do, it may help those who have previously been unable to get this beauty to fly.

And, wow, she is a doll.  Thank you so much.

Indeed, Ranwers' and IES Dewoitines share only a file, which is D520.fmd. It is inside the two external flight models and is probably for this reason that IES plane requires to work Ranwers' one. I don't know what you replaced, since Ranwers' flight model is named D520_FM and IES one only D520. Personally, I just replaced engine inside IES fmd, addressing the unbearable noise caused by IES engine when running on idle, then recompiled flight model, and retained the double install (Ranwers + IES).

Hello to all !

Not sure this is the right place for these lines, and the administrator can of course remove them or change their place according to his choice.
i used the D.520 by F_RED as an intro for the videos i made at Ferté-Alais Airshow last may.

Videos freely available and downloadable on these links:
part1: Stands and First Flights:
https://youtu.be/LVKzzupP4fQ
part2: Airwar WW2:

part3: Airwar WW1 and 1930's :
https://youtu.be/rE39OtCRUQ8
part4: Vietnam and modern :
https://youtu.be/Ud0NPDl-Xz0

i chose the D520 for i thought it was a nice fellow for the Curtiss H-75 seen at the show.
(The only real flyable D520 was destroyed in a crash some years ago)
Lot of thanks to F_Red / HistoMOD for developing and to Catsy for adapting !

I've found a way to add HSFX version (see first page of this thread) of Red's Dewoitine520 in MODS folder (not in jgsmemodfolder as usual)

1) After download, unzip D520_IES_HSFX_beta1 file and go to:

D520_IES_HSFX_beta1/jsgmemods/D520_IES_beta1/MODS/

You find:
-"AutoDiffFM_HSFX701_Expert-Normal_Mode" folder. Keep it!!!
-"STD" folder: open it.  Inside open "com" to air.ini

Look for Dewoitine 's line:
Dewoitine520      air.Dewoitine520 1                    NOINFO  fr01  SUMMER

Open stationary ini:
D520       vehicles.planes.D520Static$D520    1

In technics ini, no track of D520. :-[

Open I18n folder , planre ru and weapons ru files
(plane ru)
Copy and paste:
Dewoitine520         Dewoitine D.520, 1939

(Weapons ru)
#####################################################################
# Dewoitine520
#####################################################################
Dewoitine520.default                     Default
Dewoitine520.none                        Empty.

So, you've got informations necessary for adding in STD folder of your MODS folder (inside your rootfolder)

Just add in your technics ini (France section)
[D520]
Description    D520
Icon           Plane
Class          air.Dewoitine520
PanzerBodyFront      0.002
Explode              WagonMetal

Now:
1) destroy com & i18n folder in D520_IES_HSFX_beta1/jsgmemods/D520_IES_beta1/MODS/STD

Cut & paste the remaining content in a new folder named D520_IES_beta1
Add in it "AutoDiffFM_HSFX701_Expert-Normal_Mode"
Paste this new folder in your   Root IL2 1946HSFX 7.03 modded/MODS

Don't forget to add lines in air ini, technics ini, Stationary ini, plane ru and Weapons ru.

Run game.

So, you'll not have anymore to choose between D520 and any others added planes before and after. :)

A problem is remaining : fly by sounds (with UV3) are too short.

I just installed this one, at last.

But jumpin' Jehosephat! The engine is so LOUD that I can barely hear the guns, and even after dialing down the volume my ears get numb pretty quickly. If this is supposed to be realistic, I might as well go all in and light my desk on fire to simulate my demise upon getting shot down in flames. ;) Jeez, I thought this was supposed to be more fun than torture.

I tried to add a value for the empty [SPL] section in the motor's preset file, but no change resulted.

Any way to dial down that horrific din?

I read here some talk about using Ranwers' version in conjunction, in order to utilize more sensible sounds. But things were not made particularly clear. I don't like to stumble blindly into things, preferring to understand just what's going on. Is it just a matter of using Ranwers' FM?

Greybeard to the rescue; thanks, Giuseppe!

The volume is now in line with the general game standard.

Upon reflection, I almost wonder if the engine was originally made so loud in part just to keep up with the ear-splitting volume for the French actor samples. They hurt my poor ears, too (but at least that's not a constant, agonizing drone like the engine--just periodic blasts of pain.)

Played around a bit with the cockpit Java class this evening.

Added a line of code for the 6DoF limits for 4.12 (possibly applicble to as early as 4.10?). The default settings when not specified here are a bit too limiting for this 'pit. Now one can move farther forward, upward and sideways.

The value for the speed at which the canopy is ripped off when open (even just a crack) was 300 km/h. The vast majority of planes have no such limit at all, or a more generous one. I increased this to 400 km/h, simply because of the general situation for so many other planes. It's a shocking surprise to suddenly have the sliding canopy disappear where it does not do so for scads of other planes.

I tried to get the magnetic compass to turn more sluggishly, by adapting code that I've successfully added to a few other 'pits. But no joy, unfortunately. Too bad, for magnetic compasses do not exhibit the same crisp response as do gyro compasses.

On other fronts...

Altered the texture for the gun sight reflector glass, making it less like a weakly diffusing, slightly cloudy plate. It's now more transparent, and instead of slightly yellowish it's very slightly greenish.

Tweaked the gun sight reticle.

I plan to make a properly circular reticle mask of diameter equal to the concave mirror which collimates the image.

Some modder is convinced that cockpit canopy tearing off in flight is a further touch of realism... They even refuse photographical evidence:

Thanks for all your work. Unfortunately, in my case the main problem of this cockpit is its graphical "heaviness": especially when I look around from cockpit inside, FPS is heavily hit. :(

Hello. Can anyone please explain to a noob how to, actually, install it? I have SAS Modact 6.4 and I don't have a MODS folder. Never installed mods before.

Do you have a folder called  #SAS ?
If so that is your mods folder. ;)

I have SAS Modact 6.4 and I don't have a MODS folder.
Modact 6.4 = 4.13.4 !
Don't worry if this Mod doesn't work in 413...
Because of the differences in coding... buttons...

<Gunny>, I already tried it, the mod is not shown anywhere. I also tried to put the mod in the jsgmemods folder, then it can be activated via JSGME, but the plane itself is still not displayed in the game. Obviously, SAS~Epervier, you are right, the mod cannot be launched through this version of the game. Anyway, thanks for your attention.

Hello !
I am back to the forum after several years .

I am using HSFX 7.03 , and I added F_Red's Dewoitine 520 to it .

Now I discover this fix_FM , but I don't figure out how to use it .

Should I replace the original 520FM with the D_520FM_39-43 ?

Or with one of the four FMs found in the GUI/FlightModels folder ?

These are hashes from the original 2014 D-520 mod.
Since I rarely write stationary models, I don’t keep them in the mod folder.
How these hashes/classes will work in patch 4.13.4 - I don't know.

how do you think? - the countries Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro(Чорногорія) also use the "russian" Cyrillic alphabet?

Хеши олд this folder
This folder contains 2014 hashes from the original D-520 mod. It can be deleted.
You could also notice that this folder also contains hashes for the D-520 stationary model.
------------------------
If you open the original D520_IES mod, then you can see files with numbers in it - these are hashes / classes.
These files without extension can be viewed using notepad.
Among the 7 files with numbers, there are two files that are responsible for the operation of the D520 static model in the game.
In the picture at the link you can see the location of these files, as well as their text.
They were created by the author of the mod on 10 11 2014 at 12:13 pm.
At this time, patch 4.13.4 was not yet available.
How these files (classes) will work in patch 4.13.4 - I do not know, and I did not need them.
Therefore, I didn’t put them directly into the fix for D520_IES, thinking that users of the fix can easily take them from the original mod or from the spare folder from the old hashes of 2014.
You can make an experiment yourself and try to register static models in the static ini in the game using the above files.
Good luck!

Today I had a series of CTD with F-Red D-520 I dont fully understand has I have been flying this plane before. I have a personalized version of 409 specific for MTO and early war period: following Master Épervier advice in my install I have added the modified LHaircraft class

Remade classes for patch 4.09.
My D-520 loads normally in missions and flies.
There is one drawback - pads are not placed.
Something in the classes does not fit this old patch.

In patch 4.09 when starting a mission with DewoitineD520
the game does not write errors in the log file - this means that the code for Dewoitin is very well written.

Explain to me please! What crash are you talking about?
What is it expressed in? Game won't load, mission?
In which of the patches of the D-520 mod does not work correctly? What is the name of the mods folder?
MODS, SAS?

The patch works very well in 4.12 being HSFX, Modact, VP but in 409 be it UP2 or a personalized modact as explained above I have sudden crashes to desktop. Most of the time happens at mission start (even in QMB with the d-520 alone) and sometimes (but more rarely) after some time in the mission. i So i tried changing DLL, disabling mods etc etc. but the crashes are really unpredictable t can work well for one mission or two and then crashes.  I am attaching an example of log where you will see that the error relates to the skins that normally is a non critical error and in fact mission starts but as soon as D-520 spawned it crashed.  Crash happens with Dreamk version and yours no difference whatsoever.

https://pastebin.com/yFxRk680

and this is the last one https://pastebin.com/HbyYYyhv

and you will see that no error is indicated but If I play the same mission using one of the other two D-520 avalable I can complete the mission normally

Tell me please! - Do you have a diff installed in your mods folder in patch 4.09?
  This is a modified FlightModelMain.class.
   What year is this file?
Because the log file shows us that the game is looking for motors in the buttons.

Of course i do otherwise I shouldn't be able to use the D-520.

The FligthModelMain  was modified in 2008 at the same time when 409 came out. If you  search this site you will find my post encouragine the use of this mod the first time it appeared https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,158.msg3898.html#msg3898

I also have version that I use for test where you can get the FM and EMD from an unencrypted FMD and EMD file very useful. . But I don't see how could this be a problem if all the other plane that I have are working well and if this was the case I would never be able to start a mission in QMD and fly for a while as normally the plane without EMD explode at spawn and the game don't crash

In the test build for patch 4.09, I use a diffim with code for reading fmd and emd from the latest patches, so the game does not ask questions in the log file regarding fmd and emd.

This means that the new FlightModelMain class has started working. At the same time in the mission, I launched the D-520 and Foker-17.
The game for Foker writes a few errors due to the fact that the plane does not have its main class, since the 3D franken. The Fokker-17 mod needs to be redone and your own dm recorded in the class and in 3D.

Yes the diffFM works but my 409 keep crashing. at mission start

I am now working on nearly clean 409 install I am taking out all the mods one by one and now I am left with just three extra planes (p-36 cockpits from 4.12, HawkII, and the CERT_AI mod that contain also hot AI and sniper turret)

The FokkerXVII needs a lot of work too much: LODs, hooks and Hitboxes and also a revisiting of the basic 3d to move the CG in the proper place that would imply recalculating all the Arms and polares of the FM.

I finally managed to identify the conflict that was with a version of the Hot AI Mod that introduce engine overheating in AI controlled planes.

I am still looking into the classes to  see why this conflict was causing the CTD as the even Instant log or the console didn't provide any hint.

Thanks to Vasya for the support

Just to keep on the saga I am really curious to know why the D520 flys very well in 409 QMB while it creates CTD frequently when I attempt to fly a specific mission. Note that I manage to complete the mission in other version of the game, 4.12, 4.10 and using other planes including the franken D520 without any hitch. These missions are around ever since coming from the days when we where using a similar plane with good skins to overcome planes and map availability. I am attaching the missions to see if anybody can replicate my problem.

The setup is very basic as the missions use stock Kursk map and stock objects from the time of 4.07 or so. To make it a little more realistic I just changed the 109E4 with the E-1 and the D520 instead of the LaGG3. I am not responsible for the bad use of Rabelais language eventually I tried to improve it a bit but take it in the context of a conflict.

Indeed is very strange sometime the same mission is not giving any problem and just now it gave me cannonHookdump01 not found that is not making any sense if the plane fly and shoots normally with Mg and Cannon in QMB how can something like this be mission related?

Bin voyons !
He, mon pote, c'est moi...  ;) donc je confirme, les ombres sont pourries !
Pas d'ombres sur tous les Gears et un décalage pour la casserole d'hélice !
Je te rassure, dans BAT sur 3 Dewoitine, c'est pas mieux !  :D

so I confirm, the shadows are rotten!
No shadows on all the Gears and a shift for the propeller pan !
I reassure you, in BAT on 3 Dewoitine, it is not better !  :D

... well, adding the missing shadows won't be a problem, I just sent an email to Epervier to make sure we don't both work on that, at the same time, waiting for his reply ...  ;)

The problem should be fixed within this WE ...  ;)

... well, contrary to what I wrote, adding the missing Gears shadows was unexpectedly not easy at all, maybe that's why there weren't shadows after all ...  :-X

... and as usual, it is only THX to my master's help, Yoda Epervier, that the D520 now has Gear shadows ...!  8)

I still don't see any gear shadows, plus this plane "skids" really easily on the grass and runway. You have to apply power very judiciously. Seems very slow to get moving for take off too.
But I'm guessing it has the best current FM in BAT 4.2.2+hf4.

Also, in the above reply#147 by Mick, there is a D/L from Epervier ,  inside it is another strange 7zip file with different files for Gear.... msh.
Do these contain the elusive gear shadows? if so, do we need to extract them into the D.520 folder.

... don't take in account that zip file, that contains the same files as the ones already in the plane folder ... ;)

Other than that, may be you made a bad install, as I do have gear shadows now, THX to Epervier who fixed the issue ...

Will try another install, a point though..This version D.520 F_Red, or something remarkably similar, is already in BAT 4.2.2.etc did it not have the shadows sorted?

For BAT, Fix Shadows and other alarms:
Copy the contents of the archive to the main BAT folder.

To OLD_DAD.    I did experienced the same issue as U.

..now however I do have the shadows in 412.2 SAS 5.3.

I used the Bat 3Do/plane file of #159 post. I had to nullify the previous --plane file: even though the priority as a mod for loading was fully respected, both plane files could not coexist at the same time and provide the wanted shadows in my 412.    Not tried in bat.
