As the title says! :)
Especially since I dont post a lot of screenshots of the updates an dfixes, please, do me the favour! ;D
Lots of guys are asking what this DBW shit is all about, so, I thought this topic could illuminate for them.
I shall go first, although it is not completely fair, since I am sitting with build 1.2 already, and this is maybe more of a preview, so please forgive me, I did not have other screenshots handy just now.

Finally bf-109 z repaint :o
-
yep, it's great! :D
actually, the 109Z mod has more than just a repaint... ;)
-
All the Korea goodies are there too. Also, the DEFAULT SKINS! (FBDSM) are incredible, improving mission/campaign creation a great deal...

The Fokker G.1...what a beaut! I'm not sure if this is new for DBW or if it was in UP 3 but it's very nice.
-
It's in DBW.
-
Hey will FBDSM be included in the next UP3 patch?

Wait... this game is how old?!?!
Gentlemen, this is nothing short of stunning. To those of you who have put in the time and energy to make shots like this possible, I raise my glass.
-
10 years old! ;)
-
What I love about this is that i havent had to go out and buy some ultra expensive hardware just to run this game - my little old PC can still handle it all. I can see this sim lasting a lifetime (or as long as Cirx lasts LOL)

here is screenie of reskinned twin20mm gunpods from DBW 1.4 :)

I like a.o.:
That it loads easy without texture compression activated with the 512 MB exe-option selected.
Fast loadtimes..
The P-38 cockpit :P
And the new stock maps and-seen here-the stock choice of the propeller-mod (screens are not perfect, ingame it looks really cool):

Thanks, while installing it was easily observable how much work went into this (and UP 3) to keep the packs that compressed yet complex..hats off, gents. :)
Cheers..

+The Kuban map repaint looks really gorgeous.

Can someone tell me how to post a picture to this site? I tried opening my screen shot in MS Office Picture Manager, copying it to clipboard and keying the 'insert image' icon above. When I preview my post, I see a white box with a red 'x'. The picture did copy to MS Word with no problem.

This fortunate Ki-44 survives a rude encounter with a P-51A over Lower Burma. If this where a video, you would see the propeller slowly turning, even though the engine has been shut off, and the cowling flaps slowly flapping.

Wow, is that tree mod just on that map?

Yep .... On both the Midway and Midway 1 maps . Looks incredable 8)

Have you seen the branches swaying back and forth by the wind?

Damn how are these not in the ETO!

Hey Bravo,
Are you screenies fresh from in-game, or is there some post process adjustments with an image editor? Just wondering, since I use Gapa which enhances color/contrast in game and makes the visuals looks similar to your screenies. Though, if you do use gapa, I would be interested to try out your config since the visuals look quite nice!
-
Wow...CoD what?
-
Damn so beautiful!
What map is that?
Still don't know how to thank CirX and Co...
They made completely new game in my opinion.
-
What are the object numbers for those trees, and why not have them outright replace the 2d stock trees?
-
I could probably fill up the whole thread with things I like about DBW and FBDSM, but these are some of my favorite features:
The new separate eastern and western fronts; this is a FW-190 A5 over Normandy...
And this is the same plane over Kuban...
I have wanted to see German planes with different western and eastern skins for years, and now it's finally happening! ;D
Also, just look at the gorgeous I-16 cockpit repaint...
The detail in there is incredible. Screenshots hardly do it justice.
Thanks so much for all the hard work!

a really dumb question (maybe): where do screenshots go inside the game folder? usually, my screens went into the root of Il2 and I converted them to jpg using the old IL2 PF Manager;
now, I still can take screenies with the PrtScrn key (it seems so because now the game freezes noticeably for a second or so after pressing the key), but there is not a screen capture afterwars, neither in jpg nor in tga format...

-
That is, if you have enabled the relevant mod (my screenshots). If you are still using 4UTIL's screenshot as jpg, you will find your photos in your game's root; I use fatstone viewer, a free program to access and handle my photos.
-
hello! thanks for the quick replies-unfortunately, I do not have a MYScreenShots folder; I downloaded that veeery old screenstojpg mod, dropped it into the relevant files folder inside#DBW and it works like a charme :) I do not like TGA files that much and nor do I like converting them, thats why I did not enable the relevant mod in the mod enabler;
anyhow thanks for the help, issue solved :)

Ah I see where you are confused, you apparently think this is a car forum. Sorry but no, warbirds only ;)
Perhaps youd do better here, Ive spent many hours in this forum
http://ls1tech.com/forums/index.php
And since you bring it up, I drive a Camaro every day, and its so far from stock that I think the only thing left Chevy is the unibody. Hell I don't even think its strictly street legal here anymore!
Messerschmitt > anything PTO.
-
Im sorry i just had to throw in the Messerchmit car ;)
Although i do like it better than a Mitsubishi lancer. LOL

I could have sworn that there were a few 109G6's shot down by.....WILDCATS!!!!! Now, that doesn't say a whole lot for the 109 now does it ;)
No worries, I am a closet 109 lover, I just don't have the courage to admit it in public......really......you should see the looks some of my friends give me when they come over and see the iron cross on my aircraft, being half black and flying a Messer just confuses the hell out of some people ;)

Yes, I pulled it into ImageReady, resized to 1024x and clicked the "Image > Adjustments > Auto Levels"
That really brought out the blue!

my eternal thanks to those responsible for fixing a long-standing gripe of mine with many of the VVS fighters, namely the dark glass of the gunsights, making it frikkin' hard to see what you're shooting at under certain weather/light conditions.
finally i can start actually enjoying myself in the Russkie fighters. cheers fellas!! ;D 8)

Hi Malone,
your "DBW_3" picture is ready reworked. How i can submit this pic to you? What I have to do?
Greetings from Cologne, Gerhard
-
sorry Gerhard...i'm not sure what you mean, my friend. ???
you could post in your home language if you like, and someone will soon translate for me.
i don't quite get what you're asking... :)
-
Hi Malone,
my question is very simple. I will send a screenshot here to SAS. I don't know what I have to do, find no option to do that.
I will send a reworked screenshot (your WWI screenshot "DBW_3"), thats all. I'm sorry for my bad (school-) english.
-
you send it to imagehack.us, then ut the link here, like this
[img]link[/im]
-
ok i get it. ;D
yes, you should either upload your pic to imageshack or photobucket, then you can just paste the link into your post, as Hundertz has explained above. ;)
-
Hallo Gustav, hi Malone,
thank you very much for help. I uploaded to Imageshack.

Hi There Willy,
Awesome screens, but - one thing from my side:
How did You managed WHITE colour of rear navigation/position light? As far as I know - this bug (green lights) still hasn't been solved in DBW ?
Thank You.
-
Hi There Willy,
Awesome screens, but - one thing from my side:
How did You managed WHITE colour of rear navigation/position light? As far as I know - this bug (green lights) still hasn't been solved in DBW ?
I was looking for the explanation and I have found it.
I use FRAPS or DXTory to capture screens (screenshots) for all my games (UP 2.0, HSFX 5.1 and DBW 1.6). And these programs are configurated to save shots in same folder: My pictures.
I was comparing HSFX 5.1 and DBW 1.6 with the same mission (Swordfish night training), and saving several shots. Later, I posted shots here.
I'm pretty sure that the last one, with white light (rear navigation light) is from HSFX 5.1, while the other trhee ones, are from DBW.
Sorry for the mistake.

Added a few additional mods to DBW which have really enhanced an already awesome pack!
As a result:
(I actually did a little Gimp work myself to create this new opening load screen)
Note, I did some minor edits to set the mods up in jgme format for easy "on/off" and clean separation from DBW. As seen in the carrier shot, we now have crew on deck and the carrier engine smoke is updated per the effects pack. Additionally, the sound pack is really nice for the 50 cals on the F6F along with other improvements, and the water effect is really nice to see white caps on the ocean when the weather is a little rougher than this shot. Also, with Josse's Ecran wide, we have some really nice era pinup girl images which give that extra touch to the background. All in all, a nice combo of "additions" to DBW which make for a nice experience! Also the carrier shot is from Lonestar's DCG Kwajalein campaign. Works great in DBW!
When I have to fly in need of the "Pause Button" (as compared to online where pause does not work) to address wife calls, kids, etc..., DBW is great! :)

What smoke mod did you use in DBW? I can't get the thick smoke (Socorrista) to work in DBW.
Thanks!

Here is the smoke I get ... and a few other shots.

All very nice shots, DBW is just about as good as it gets for IL-2 :)
Ratsel......the rookie is still carrying his drop tank but at least he dived under the bomber and didn't expose it to top turret fire! ;)
Hawker17......that is the smoke mod by Soccorista and i can get it working without problem in DBW but only in the the DBW folder and not with JGSME mods....but that doesn't matter because i just love that Hollywood smoke and will never want to disable it ;)

Was never convinced about that smoke, it is a good smoke but somehow misplaced in IL2 . I chose a bit more moderate one. But that is just taste :)
-
Agree Leone ;) Best smoke is in HFSX 5.0.1 , even better than Plutonium one (too thin & not bi-color)

(Note, I updated the timeline for the campaign to include the modded version of the Ryujo found here rather than the generic CVL. Note, this carrier will be included in the next CLEAN DBW JGME Mod (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,19921.0.html) pack update for Static which will come out soon! Other gems included as well, stay tuned!

Libya 1941 DCG updated for DBW
Libyan traffic jam. Target rich environment!
Actually, I think the routes are fubar, will have to investigate. However, fun to score over 50 ground kills with 2 500s! :)

LOL!
Libya 1941 DCG was updated for DBW??? Where might one find and download it?

For sure..., nice we only have to experience this in a video game and not "real life."
I am currently reading Max Hastings Inferno (http://www.amazon.com/Inferno-The-World-War-1939-1945/dp/0307273598) which highlights the "personal" side of the war from both the civilian and military perspective. The simple concept of complete and utter upheaval in one's life with all the horror and devastation engulfing those there is the core aspect of the read.

Nice missile smoke trails!
I didn't do them lol. I wish I did, they're very nice.
I just flew a sortie with a P-38, but 8 pics is quite a few. I think I'll start a new thread titled "Post your Sorties Here".
-
Santobr helped me fix that smoke trail, He is an effects guru! The Smoke trail used to be square, lol. So thank him.
-
I was thinking you did them lol. The reason there's 3 out is because the first 2 were square xD
-
Its all good n Nice screenies btw! Keep em coming and did you know about you can save your mission and turn off Sub titles and Hud messages in "Play Track" and or your Conf.ini If your interested ill post how. This way you will have clean screen shots of your memory flight. -S- :)

That is a cool tip Bigfoot - thanks. Amazing how I learn something new just about everytime I visit the site! :)

Small Font mod.
You can even make the game use totally different font for the interface...

Now that is one hellofa Battle Field!
-
AWESOME screenshots!!!!!!! On one thread I started I explained how I downloaded the BFSP and while I could get UP3 to work, I couldn't get DBW to work, but Storebror told me what to do!! The problem was I did the fixing this morning right before I needed to head out to work and was amazed by everything DBW had to offer, yet I couldn't try it out as I had to leave for work ASAP!! Later on today will be my first time with DBW and DBW 1916, maybe I'll cut early from work today.......... 8)
-
This isn't a screenshot, but it's a movie I made with DBW 1.71 and New TFM about the Flying Tigers using Monty's campaign. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbw0StfLc_4 and enjoy 8)!

Nice screen capture from the Battle of Britain classic movie with the Buchon Playing Luftwaffe Bf-109E ;)
-
Look what DBW+ the New-TFM+Map mods+ Gurner FX 4.3 have done for IL-2 1946. It is pretty close to CoD in visuals, but way better in FMs, sounds, content, and immersion as you'll see in my comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h_-COIaU3Y
-
Sounds and immersion are always subject to subjective tastes. :)

So true when the video has the Spitfire flying under Luftwaffe music.... :D

Which is played in the scene where Milch inspects the Luftwaffe Bomber Force..... :)

It's been a while since I've seen that movie lol I thought it fit the video!

If you had made that video with an Emil it would have fit like a glove! All that said, thanks for making a video to illustrate the differences and enchancements ;)

Long live IL-2! I can't wait for DBW 2!

2

I do not say this to piss you off-the screens are really good, but in case you overlooked these very kickass mods all based on 3D artist's work like PA_Jeronimo's.
Cheers

Thanks, Thorsten. That's a good P-51 mod. And don't worry about pissing me off. It was SAS criticism of my vanilla game screenshots that prompted me to start adding mods in the first place. :D
Funny thing is, the cowling correction mods work fine in DBW but they are hit-and-miss with the New Full Monty (e.g., the Corsair and Wildcat cowlings look boxy).

For me, this was Robin's (rkalhorn) best shot ever:

(Oct. 2013 8))
Best regards, Gerhard :)
-
Yep. :) I wasn't criticizing rkalhorn's art but just thinking about his flying fun. :P
On the other hand I found it highly unlikely he did not already know about these mods.
If a 3D mod does not work in a given modpack, usually renaming of subfolders is at hand, :P :)...often hit and miss stuff to me.
Argh :P 3d models, constant pain. :P
