USS Essex class aircraft carrier after SCB-125 modernization with angled deck.
This MOD original 3D and armaments are made by Diving_Hawk.

This pack needs Ship Extention 2.11 https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,18742.0.html for full functions.
UP3RC4 isn't compatible to Ship Extention 2.11, in limited functions (without rotating radars) you can use this pack in UP3RC4.
And this Essex SCB-125 has Catapults , latest version SAS Engine MOD needed.
For only UP3.0RC4 , use this Catapult MOD.

Only UP3RC4 is 27th Dec. 2011 version is latest and some functions limited.

How to use catapults?
1. install latest Catapult MOD(Carrier MOD)
2. You have to taxi you airplane from spawning point to the catapult starting point and push "Toggle Chocks" key, then airplane will be set on the Catapult.
After you make full-throttle, push "Toggle Chocks" key again, the catapult pushes your aircraft to take-off.
3. When you enable "Carrier Take-off MOD", AI airplanes jump to the catapult starting point, not taxi.

Nice... Finally proper bridge area, it looks outstanding. I have some strange things to report though:
Note: I'm using DBW 1.71
1. Do the SAMs on the bridge area actualy work at the moment? Do they require any aditional mods to work? Is there a maximum target's aproach speed? Bc I made a mission with a squad of MiG-17s aproaching USS Essex late (1965) and they didn't fire even once.
2. Do all catapults work ATM? I noticed that catapults on USS Oriskany 1970 are dead. Don't know how about other new models yet
EDIT: Note I have installed ShipExt 2.10, AI, Engines and Hotkeys v2.5 and Carrier TO mod v 5.7.2 but it didn't change anything to the above.

Essex class didn't have any SAMs.
So, this MOD Essex ships don't have SAMs.
2. Do all catapults work ATM? I noticed that catapults on USS Oriskany 1970 are dead. Don't know how about other new models yet
DBW1.71 has this class catapult codes.
But because of a bug , those codes don't work.
For fixing is here ;)
And this Essex SCB-125 has Catapults , but they work on only this new Catapult MOD.

BTW, are you sure that late (1970) of them didn't have SAMs?
2. Read edit: I installed it but it didn't help - those that worked work, and those that didn't don't work.

The things at the frontal and back side of the bridge are AAA targeting room.
They are not new ones, I think.
Basic rooms are WWII time ones with new antennas.
Daidalos Essex/Intrepid have similer ones.
I read "Weyer's Warships of the World 1984/85",
Hornet and Bennington as CVS, Lexngton as AVT, Bon Homme Richard and Oriskany as CV, all had no SAMs.
Coral Sea didn't have, too.
Midway or Forrestal class had Sea Sparrows.

Served onboard Oriskany '63-'65. Only thing we had... eight -5" 38s. Later, in dry dock in, Bremerton,Wa, four were removed. Served onboard America '66 - '67, as I remember, she had missiles.

It was mentioned in first post that you should install Carrier take off 7.5.2. It helped for me.

What mod are you using to get the text on the lower left of the screen above the Speed Bar? Is this mod usable with DBW Build 1.71?
Without working instruments on the Phantom this would be critical information I could use.

Also, you cannot use the first two ctrl+f1 views with this mod, the game will freeze until you press it again. Hope this makes sense :-\

In detail, around 1960's some Essexes were replaced 40mm Boforse to 3inch AAA, and that 3inch AAA were removed around 1970.
But my WIP topic, no one requested that modelizing, I don't modelize that.
I have less data about that AAA replacing when / which ship done.
About SAMs the same. No one requested.

IL-2 1946 graphic engine can draw 1024x1024 or 2048x512 textures biggest.
Now I use 2048x512 texture for whole deck.
It is the limit.
When I separate the deck face into 4x and using 1x 2048x512 texture for new 1 face,
I can make more high resolution,
but that is very hard work to draw textures for us and MOD folder size will be 4x (Pack total 2.5GB).
Is it useful or realistical?

would be willing to create a set of post war and Korean war era Essex class ships with high res textures?
Valley Forge and Boxer are low texture, right? Also, Its hard to find good color images of those ships, deck color
especially. Aren`t they a little too brown in current state?

Sorry Western, I'm pretty new to Il-2 and modding, I can barely do Nosearts / skins I didn't know about that technical stuff. I don't think better textures would be worth the work. And I wouldn't want to have to download 2.5 GB neither, your mod is great the way it is ;)

1.00 has a problem at Ship Extentions MOD 2.11 .
Oh...
Now I find another problem on 1.01 .
I will release 1.02 .
But I think that "don't work" is strange.
When you can't or don't like to install Ship Extentions MOD 2.11 , then you can use add.UP3RC4.ships.ini in 7zip.

All essex class no longer appear when I run the game. I use the last DBW. But I will try your solution.

That is Carrier MOD area, not in this MOD.
UP3 inhibit Carrier MOD installing , and sanka helped me at UP3.
But now sanka is very busy.
Or... you may ask UP staff to include latest Carrier MOD in UP3.

So I have a problem bigger than when I had version 1.01. When I made mission in FMB, the Essex Carrier appear. But when I launched the mission, it was not in the water.
Now with version 2.00, the problem is worst because my game crash at 70%. I have not installed the ship extended mod because I don't want. I followed your instructions carrefully so I don't know where is the problem. I have DBW 7.1
I'm sad now because I only can take off with my F4 Phatom on the Clemenceau and Foch carrier.

70% should be a wrong installation....check better the .ini entry you have added....moreover when I have some ship showing in FMB but not in mission this is also the cause!!!

So I uninstalled everything and then I followed all the instructions again. Nothing helps, my game crash at 70%.
And I don't know why :(

Did this mod load before the Clemenceau and Foch?
Maybe the some classfiles need a different loading order....

I don't know. But perhaps Western can give me an old version of the USS Essex. Like the version 12.

Try to make it load before the Clemenceau changing it's name can be a solution....try it!

So... Now my game don't crash but I have the same problem with the version 1.01. The Essex appear in the FMB but when I launch the Mission, the carrier is not here.
And I swear I haven't forget something in the .ini .

I have been testing V2.00 in DBW 1.7.1. I found that the Hornet 1970 does not show up in a mission I created in FMB. In that same mission the USS Kearsarge 1965 does show up. Note that I put the players plane on the Kearsarge.
Also, neither Hornet stationary ship can be inserted in the mission using FMB. The 1957 Intrepid stationary can be inserted but the 1970 version cannot. In the objects window, the 1970 Intrepid shows up as the Hornet.
I can't find any mistakes in the way I installed the angle-deck carriers. Also, how do you get the catapults to work on the angle-deck carriers? I was under the impression that all that was needed for a DBW 1.7.1 install was to adjust the names of the CarrierMod and CarrierTakeOff5.7.2.1 so that they appear as the first and second directory respectively in your Mods directory. While catapults work on the WW2 carriers, they do not work on the angle-decks.
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated. These carriers look great and I congradulate all who were involved in creating them for their fine work :)!

This log shows that Hier.him reffers "SSC1.msh" and cannot find it, but my version2.01's Hier.him doesn't reffer "SSC1.msh".
Once erase "USSEssexCVs_SCB125" folder and clean-up, and after it, install version2.01.
Don't overwrite the new version onto the old version.

I changed many msh names at version2.00 .
Then, ships.ini is re-writed.
Erase old "USSEssexCVs_SCB125" folder completely and old ships.ini entries completely.
After it, copy versioni2.01 "USSEssexCVs_SCB125" folder to your #DBW folder and add ships.ini entries.

idk if anyone is haveing this problem but when i try to spawn on the ship i start in the air thats only on the movein ships

Sorry for the late reply but I just installed these ships in my DBW. You do mean in FMB and not a quick mission. I dont beleive you can take off from a carrier in QMB. Also, if you have too many planes on deck it will "bump" planes off to an air start.
When you place the waypoint "take off" look at the bottom left and you will see "set" Click that and drag your mouse over the carrier and you will see a green line following your mouse. Wait until it highlights the carrier and left click the mouse. You should then see that the line remains. Try that and see if it works.
Just a note on installing these ship.. this has to be the most extensive edditing of the ini's I ever had to do ??? but it is well worth it when your done. 8)

They work for me. You just need to install all the mods listed on the first page... ;)

You mean they don't work at all or they do not have the necessary power.
If they do not work at all then the for some reason your carrier mod is not working properly ( I use UP3RC4 and they work with carrier mod)
If on the other hand they are not powerfull enough you need to set the mission past 1950s.

They don't work at all (but they are working with non angled deck carriers). I must have done something wrong with the installation, but I don't know what. I 've used the mod on the first post (USSEssexCVs_SCB125) and the mod 00_CarrierMod, with UP3RC4 and adding the correct line in the addup3rc4 text file to the ships.ini.

I followed the install to the letter then checked they show up in the objects viewer but in the campaign Korea the plane is in the water no carrier. the catapult mod is working on the old carriers but no angle decks show up in the campaign or when I make one in the fmb.

OMG ! Got it to work at last, just now, the catapult are working for ESSEX1960's in DBW !
( previously the CTO included DBW7,1 worked with every carrier, including new Colossus class, but
I could not make it work with the Essex1960 class, everything tried... including the patch... )
So, I use DBW7,1, NO Ship Extention 2,11, added CTO v2,5 as a MOD , + the patch, and now CATAPULTS work fine...
( entered the install option 5b, the lines for UP3_RC4, and select a year for the mission above 1950's ).
I'm so happy ! ...a new era for Vietnam war oppenning up ! Hope this will help people with catapults issues in DBW !
Is there any news for those of us who can't get the catapults on the angle deck carriers to work at all?

First of all, congratulations on getting the catapults to work on the angle deck carriers!
Like you, I am using a DBW 1.7.1 install of IL-2. I set up a JSGME install of the angle deck carriers mod without the ship extension mod. I copied the files from the Carrier Take Off 5.2 patch into the SAS_AI_Engines_Hotkeys_Carriers mod directory and place it in my #DBW directory. I did this because I am under the impression that this mod is needed even for the catapults on the WWII carriers. When I tried to take off from an angle deck carrier in the game, the catapult still did not work.
So, it seems that I have missed some details about what you did to get the catapults to work. I do have the following questions:
1) Where can I find the "install option 5b" to which you referred?
2) Where can I find the "lines for UP3_RC4"?

I can't understand JSGME for this Essex pack.
Essex pack doesn't support JSGME.
(JSGME doesn't support any Ship MOD installing, too!)
You have to install as written in "Readme_en.txt".
Anyone can support the ways outside "Readme_en.txt".

I've re-configured my angle deck carrier install, but it seems that I am still doing something wrong as the catapult still does not work. Here's what I did:
1) Installed '____00000_000_CarrierTakeOff5.7.2' in the #DBW directory so that it is at the top of that directory. Also, I confirmed that the '66731988E795FA7A' is the only file in that directory.
2) Installed '___00000_SAS_AI_Engine_HotKeys_Carriers in the #DBW directory so that it is second from the top of that directory. However, I found that my game crashes immediately. I removed '96F4C2FA0F2B0FD0' from the directory and as a result, the game now loads.
3) Installed USSEssexCVs_SCB125 in the #DBW directory.
4) Revised chief.ini per add1.chief.ini and add2.chief.ini.
5) Revised ships.ini per add.UP3RC4.ships.ini.
6) Revised stationary.ini per add.stationary.ini.
7) Revised techics_ru.properties per add.techics_ru.properties
Question: You gave a '[MODS]' section listing catapult settings and stated that "...my air.ini does have these lines, but they are mostly default settings anyway". I think you meant to say that these lines were in your conf.ini. Please confirm whether or not that is so.
If you have some other suggestions, please let me know and I'll give them a try. I would very much like to get this this mod to work. For now, my angle deck carriers are dead in the water :(.

Regarding my status, the angle deck carriers do show up in the game. Note that when using the angle deck carriers, I always set the year between 1955 and 1960. However, when I taxi up to the catapult, my plane does not 'connect'. So, there is no catapult available for the player's plane. When AI aircraft launch, they do so without the catapult. If the aircraft is a jet, it promptly becomes a submarine.
Thanks for the updated CTO 5.7.2.1 link. I plan to change the names of the mod directories back to what they were originally to match your configuration. Also, I will re-download 00000_SAS_AI_Engine_HotKeys_Carriers and replace the version I have. I'll let you know what happens.

maybe issue with F-4 Phantoms at takeoff
seem that spawnpoints are too near for F4s
when mission start wings of near planes are one into other...... no problem for AI because they go directly on catapult
but human can't taxi to catapult because after released chocs the player's plane crash into the nearest aircraft
offline you can go over catapult with autopilot but is almost impossbile takeoff online with f4

That's actually pretty realistic; the F-4 never operated off the Essex class, too heavy. They were equipped with F-8s, A-4s almost exclusively as attack carriers. They could carry S-2 ASW planes and E-1 AEW planes as well, but not the F-4.......normally. The A-7 could have, but I don't know if it ever did. In 73, Hancock and Oriskany still had F-8Es and A-4Fs, at least Hancock did for sure. :-X

Way back when my dad got his wings after completing his CQ on the Lexington (Jan of 85), so im a little partial to using the lexington for everything :-[ but I love all carriers equally and will fly anything with a tailhook. Thank you for the great ships. I got panthers, cougars, and furys flying off and on the ships almost daily. Its always a nice challenge to run a lap around the ship and catch a 3 wire. I have noticed that when i catch a 4 wire, i end up in the drink, but it could be something with how i fly.

Special lines? Just set mission date to 1960 and you're good to go, no need for any conf.ini lines.

Ok, the SAS AI Carrier Hotkeys is not compatible with UP3. You might need another install with this:

Sorry, but I'm new to the il2 community...... What's AI engines again? I'm running UP3RC4 alone.... I've already downloaded the catapult mod and I can takeoof on a regular carrier, but not this mod's ones
Don't install any external mods on UP3! UP 3 is a closed pack for multiplayer, with single standard and all games compatible with each other. Install DBW 1.71, you can use them both in pararell (Though DBW REQUIRES UP3 to be installed) and they won't interfere with each other as you can select your game version at startup thanks to IL-2 selector. Than install what's mentioned few posts above, on DBW: AI, Engines, Hotkeys and Carriers v 2.5 + newest Carrier Take Off mod - they are all mentioned in first post.

Not true, I use UP3 very modified. the problem is that it doesn't have any more updates so for now its basiclly dead. DBW does Not work on MP mode making it useless for on line squads that got use to using the moving dogfight.. Fog of war does not seem to work properlly in 4.10, and DBW...
the garte news is that HSFX and 4.11 works like a charm...

I have tried to work on this mod for a few days now. I finally gave up but now my US carriers are kaput. When the mission starts I just explode. My plane falls inside the carrier and kaboom!

OMG!! After all this time. I cant beleive this. The reason I thought this was not working was because the Wildcat training missions that come with the game are corrupted. The F4F missions keep starting with the plane in the water. ALL others work fine. I also got the Essex. Its a sexy mothur fooker tooo. Damn! test this good fellas.

Tested the Aircraft-Carrier Clemenceau R98 in 4.11 Modact 4.0 #SAS folder,
all features (CTO, spinning Radoms, Missiles etc.) works OK. ;)

From 2.01 to 2.02 , I cleaned-up duplicated files.
It saves folder space from 678MB to 440MB.
You have to erase old "USSEssexCVs_SCB125" folder before installing 2.02 .

8) That is just cool. Even if the Navy didn't operate F-4s off Essex class carriers, but used F-8s. I guess they could have though. They could operate A-3 skywarriors and E-1s, so it's feasable. I subscribed to "Proceedings" for many yrs, the US Naval institute's magazine, and there were lots of articles on what type of planes operated best off which carriers.
The F-4s flew off the Midway class, and I think one of those is on the way.....in the expanded deck version she last served in.
I bet you have to have her going max speed into a bit of wind to get off the deck reliably. Some nice work.

Do you say about version 2.00 or later ?
At version 2.02 , I think it is finished about 3D modeling.
When you feel something "less detailed" at version 2.02 , that's only a skin texture problem.
If someone can re-draw skin textures more realistinc... I can include them in my pack.

By less detailed I mean the all round look of the island, its very basic, original island is much more detailed,
as are the islands or other carriers in the sim... in my opinion.

In the future , when I have spare time , I will be able to remake island 3D.
I have some plans to increase texture resolution , etc.
At the same time , 3D remaking will be able.
Its priority is not high.

Cool mate, there is no rush. Essexes made history, from ww2, Korea, to Vietnam, its only fair to have them in the the best simulator out there in their best condition and detail... I doubt that there will be any Essex class ships officially made for any simulator more advanced than 1946 in the future, so its all in modders hands... Thanks!

Hi,
I have installed USS Essex CV SCB-125 with angled deck pack (version2.02)
In my DBW 1.7 set up.
It all works well but only from Static Ships menu in FMB.
I can place a static carrier from the list and use the catapult launch so I assume all the elements are in there somewhere.
I have edited the ships .ini file as detailed in the install instructions witch I thought would add the carriers to the Ships menu in FMB but they do not appear.
Any help appreciated.

I have started new textures for CVA 34 Oriskany 1970 - if you don't mind. It's an arbitary choice, but I thought it best to publicize it so we don't end up duplicating work.
I began with 4x increase in texture dimensions but it didn't seem to work with the HiRes MOD in DBW 1.7 (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,28127.0.html) so I have merely doubled the texture maps dimensions - giving 4x memory useage but enough resolution to show quite small details. I haven't checked the change in framerate yet.
The flight deck is well underway using Gimp with layers for: hues, linings, markings, tie downs, oil stains, tyre marks, weathering, hazard markings, miscellaneous markings and so on. I'll post a WIP image soon.
Oh, and thanks for the models.

CV-34 flightdeck is almost complete and here is an image to show progress. The aim is to give the feeling of scale and atmosphere even though not all details are exact. The superstructure and hull will be started soon and further images will be posted.

CVA-34 interim high resolution texture mapping is continuing with western0221's blessing (thanks).
The flight deck has now been completed apart from a few cosmetic details that will be added later. The island superstructure is almost complete but there are some awkward UV configurations which may mean that some intended details may not be possible. Some details are difficult to find so read across from other ships and reasonable engineering assumptions have been made. No promises on completion but within six weeks seems doable.

CVA-34 HD skin is progressing well - it should be finished much sooner than anticipated. Some of the details are best interpretations from many sources - chief among them is Intrepid - but one feature has me puzzled. What is the square outhouse and inclined length (1)? Is it supposed to be a crane or steps or what? Also, do the hanger hull doors (2) open horizontally or vertically? Thanks.

Thanks Boyan & Boosh but I am too committed now to make any changes to the textures and have decided to go with what has been created to date. Let's accept what is on offer this time; the next generation of IL2 carriers (fourth?) really need additional modelling as well as even more detailed texture mapping.
Will it be acceptable for me to start a new thread with an HD skin of USS Oriskany or should it be posted on some other site? (I've just read the change in policy on skinning which was posted last year https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,23604.0.html).

Very nice work. Looks like U got rid of the gaggle of 20mm that were still left on it. Those things were gone by the mid 50s, so this is much more realistic. Very well done. I hope you can get it added to the next version of DBW and hsfx at some point.

Bravo/anyone - how do you get F-4 to taxi on Essex class carriers? Mine slide around like they're on ice, especially in heavy seas. Most times they are uncontrollable. My best technique is to use throttle at ~25%, Z & X full rudder control and B brakes on most of the time and wait for a useful roll of the carrier.
@Sleepingdragon - I didn't touch the model at all and guess that western0221 made the changes you're talking about.
@Bravo - nice pic, but get ready for my Oriskany-owned F-4 in HD 2048.

@ Bravo - I checked and I already had !SAS_Engine_Mod_4101m_v26 installed.
I did a few tests with F-4E, F6F, F4U, Swordfish, SeaFury which were all skating around. Later on I realised that it was WIND. I often add it into my missions and this time it was blowing gale force 7 (15 mps) and I'd turned the 30 kts (57 kph) carrier perpendicular to the wind - some combination. Next time, I'll lessen the wind to a breeze to make it a breeze for me. Thanks anyway.

It is normal in RL for carriers to turn into wind during fixed wing flying ops, so that the wind is directly over the bow. Any cross wind (even a steady breeze) causes unpredictable effects with the huge slab of the island.

Is this Mod compatible with Jet War 1.32? I had this Mod installed before in plain DBW 1.71 (which has JEtWar 1.2 included) and it worked perfectly. In JetWar 1.32 I get a 70% CTD whatever I try. Can anybody help me out with this one? :(

Don't bother! Installing CY6_Infantry and VietnamArmor in JetWar 1.32 can be tricky! Its worth it though. :-[ Got messed up with chief.ini and stationary.ini...Nothing to do with the compatibility of this magnificent mod. :D

I have posted this problem in tech help and did not receive a reply, so apologies if I put it in the wrong section. I have loaded mod UssEssexCV's angled deck carriers (plus ship extensions) into Modact for v4.11.1m and Modact 5.30 for v4.12.2. All carriers show up in FMB object viewer for v4.11 but in Modact 5.30 for 4.12 all carriers show in FMB object viewer except for USS Essex CV9 1960, showing the following error log:

I have tried a re-install of the mod to no avail. Obviously there is a problem with the Hier file but it only shows up in 4.12. Any help appreciated.

Having trouble getting this mod working with 4.12.2. I was hoping you guys could help me out.

- Fresh install and updated to 4.12.2 with mega patch
- SAS modact 5.3
- SAS engine 2.7 with western patch
- Jet Era v13
Everything works up to here, but when I install "Essex1960Pack2.02" and make changes to .ini (in particular the chief.ini) I get 70% CTD.
I had this mod working with 4.10.1 for the longest while.
Any thoughts?

At the moment of my previous posting here, I had it working in 4.10.1, without DBW, and I even used the CY6_Infantry and VietnamArmor Mod! It is only very recently I changed to 4.12.2 and had, for reasons I still don't understand, many problems with JetWar 1.32. So I am using only a plain 4.12.2 version with very little Mods now.
Really sorry I cannot help you any further. :(

1. Fresh install of 4.12.2 with Essex mod only. If that doesn't work...

UPDATE
So I went with option #3... :-[ which was to install westerne's French aircraft carrier mod for 4.12.2m which needed ShipExtention2.2
Everything is working now. I think the missing link was Shipextention mod that was causing the 70% CTD. My laziness of editing the ship.ini required for ShipExtention was actually the underlying problem. CURSE my Laziness!!! However, I did not require shipextension mod when I had this all working in 4.10.1.
This may actually fix this Essex mod, but I'm having too much fun right now launching off French aircraft carriers with my American f86 sabre...but who's counting?
Anyways, I hope this helps others should they run into this problem. And I'd like to thank everyone who made this possible (that is, shooting down migs over wake island in my fury sabre after catapulting off a French CV)

First of, thank you for this amazing pack!
I just finished installing this Essex 1960 pack. I tried to install ship pack mod 3 times, I was getting crashes so I just tried to install the essex pack without it and it worked! I used the UP3 ini files for "Ships", but I acctually have DBW 1.71 and use it all the time.
Of course, I'm having a small problem: I don't seem to have any catapult on those carriers, I taxi to the catapult line, set the chocks in, my plane doesn't line up like it should do on regular carriers...
I already have CTO modact5 catapult mod, I also have PAL carrier for UP3 users only. Neither one does anything.
So, it might simply come from that I installed it for UP3 version and using it in DBW might bug the catapult...I don't know
Maybe I can try to install the essex pack again but this time with the "Ship pack" ini files (Even tough I don't have installed it)
I wanted to ask you fellow pilots if you have any idea of resolving this problem, advices perhaps...

In *your Il-2 1946 folder*/#SAS/*sas engine mod folder*/com/maddox/il2/objects folder find Catapults.ini and at the end add information about catapults of this Essex carriers, which you can find in readme or in other txt files (example add_catapults) near the add_chief add_tationary etc...

If your version is 4.12.2m + SASModAct5.30 ,
technics_ru.properties file is renamed to technics.properties .

If you don't mind could you please suggest where I have gone wrong elsewhere. My version is indeed 4.12.2m + SASModAct5.30.
I have installed everything as required, including ship extensions. I no longer get crash to desktop, and see the static carrier ship names (with their corresponding years) in the FMB. However, the models are not showing and when I press 'insert', they do not insert on the map.
I know there's probably one small step I am missing, but I have gone over everything for hours. I have loaded 'ship extensions' and feel it may have something to do with that?

Yes! you were right. Somewhere along the way I put ship name values in the ship.ini instead of the ships.ini.

I have these angled decks installed and they are in the game. Radars spin and everything.. looks great.
But I can't get the cats to work. I've been reading about mod acts, and button files and a whole slew of carrier take off mods that half have links that are dead.
I'm running a vanilla HSFX 7.03 on IL2 4.12.2m
The only mods I have installed are these carriers ,ship extensions, and Auto Diff FM
How can I make the cats work? and where do I find it? And good instructions written so a dope like me can understand.

HSFX7 doesn't have Cat function to make this pack available.

good question, lol - looking at it, i'd say those shadows aren't even needed - the hull/deck shadow is more than sufficient.

WW2 carrier damage layers would be a much bigger project since not all carriers have the same mapping and most of them have only 512*512 damage textures. You would have to redo the whole thing in 1024.
