Title: Hello from a not so new member
Post by: wheelsup_cavu on December 19, 2011, 02:45:31 AM
I thought I would start my first Topic in the Members Safety Area just to be safe.  :D

I've been playing IL-2 since 2005 and I still find it a fascinating sim to play even after all this time. I am definitely a noob when it comes to mods but I am fairly certain if I apply myself this site can remedy that situation.
I see several knicks that are familiar to me from M4T, UBI, and the old AAA website so to those who already know me I say Hi again and those that don't I want to say Hi to you too.

All the best,
Wheels

I have to say that you've made a good choice, Wheelsup. Mod installing can be a challenge. It is to me. anyhoo. But, once you get a couple of the excellent creations from the posters on this site working in the game you will find a whole new world of IL-2 opening up for your enjoyment. The people here do things that, to me, border on magic.

New AC. New ships, new maps, new objects; all of superb quality and interest.

Welcome aboard, M8

Thanks for the welcome propnut27.

You can be certain after I get my bearings with what goes where that there will be a few questions asked Kiwi.

Hi Mission_bug, nice to see you too.

Welcome at the "dark site" as the mod sites used to be called in the past.
I know your nick from Ubi.
I used to participate at Ubi but since the persistent log in troubles and pages not showing up properly I gave up.

Yes it is smart to read a bit, find out what you want and always get a vanila 4101 on the disk. Always have the ini files backedup and never install more than one mod before you test the game. It is common to reinstall the game if you not follow these simple rules. The packs are recomendable if you want a head start on planes and effects, these do not need long loadingtime with many planes

Yep, I remember you too Uufflakke.  It's nice to see you here. 8)
I still am able to login and post without any trouble, so far,  but I have noticed several people mention that the UBI forums gave them problems and were tired of fighting the problem. There might be some relief coming at UBI though because they are going to be changing the forum software from Eve to V-Bulletin after the first of the year.

New and improved Forums are coming - please read for important downtime information! http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5181026566/m/4181034769 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5181026566/m/4181034769)

I figure several people will miss the sticky notice that they are shutting down for a full week for the upgrades so after the first of the year I expect to see a lot of threads about the UBI forums being down.
