Mr. Kant, please in the next corrections you do make in this models, changed the upper wing supports of W.4 by the DI version and to add a diagonal rod at  rudder fin in connection with upper surface of tail wing of W.4  . Sorry for my apparent disapprove, thats is no case . The models are greats .

And the camouflage looks great as always VP!

P.S.: Mr. Kant, as Spider pointed out, you have our support, and no disapproval is present from us...so do not worry. If we, your fans, ask you to make changes, its only because you have already exhibited great skill, and we have every faith in your abilities!

I like it very much. It is a very welcomed !  8)

No problem Phas3e, I don't mind.

Now this airplane will need a new skin-template+skins because it does have
some details that were not in the later versions.

Hi, Mr. Kant, do you ask me about new wishes and suggestions - I'm a incorrigible man, I guess ;) - the upper wing of Fokker DII don't require little atention ?  I'm fascinated with the development of DBW 1916 and I can not quit seeing things to improve it. I hope not boring you because it was never my intention nor will .

Dear Kant!

Thanks for all the new planes you're giving us to fill the WWI skies!

Since the Albatros D family are my favourite and now we have about all of them!

Sinc I usually buy a model kit of every plane we have in our sim , right now I was looking at Roden on-line shop for the early versions!

About this situation can I ask if you plan to realize also the D.II in the future?

I like to specify that I'm not requesting the D.II , I'm only asking for a simple information for the upcoming kits order!

:)

Thanks in advance for your reply!

All the very best!
Title: Re: Albatros D.I and Albatros W.IV
Post by: David Prosser on February 24, 2014, 10:07:32 AM
The difference is slight. This is what Wikipedia has to say:

A total of 50 pre-series and series D.I aircraft were in service by November 1916, replacing the early Fokker and Halberstadt D types, giving real "teeth" to the Luftstreitkräfte's new Jagdstaffeln (fighter squadrons). Further production of D.Is was not undertaken, however; instead, a reduction in the gap between the top and bottom planes in order to improve the pilot's forward and upward vision resulted in the otherwise identical Albatros D.II,[1] which became Albatros' first major production fighter.

cheers

David

I think that can fill this gap and why do Albatross D1 plane which is very little difference
Title: Re: Albatros D.I and Albatros W.IV
Post by: Whiskey_Sierra_972 on February 24, 2014, 02:10:15 PM
Sorry to repeat , I'm not requesting , I'm only asking before send my order to Roden on-line shop!

So no problem for me about doing or not the D.II

I agree that the main difference between both is the upper wing which is 25cm lower and with a new central struts , but also a different production number (50 D.I vs 200 D.II) that give it a longer experience in front line services up to the end of 1917!

Anyway lowering the upper wing and adding a carriage to the W.IV 'll give a pretty good D.II....
Title: Re: Albatros D.I and Albatros W.IV
Post by: Spider16 on February 24, 2014, 02:28:45 PM
In accordance with Wikipédia the albatros DII had at least 14 inches - 35,56 centimeters - in high relative to the upper wing  of DI model . Rearrangement of the cabane struts also improved forward view . In the late production planes, the  radiators were also changed by the same model of following DIII series - Teves and Braun Airfoil shape - positioned in the center section of the upper wing  . I hope the information is useful .

Cheers

They do disappear a bit as the waves come and go, this was in hazy weather and I was the player assigned to the plane. There was nothing in the console log so the plane works without any errors. The test mission I made used the Northsea map and I just dragged the takeoff icon to the water. Maybe this is a seaplane "airfield" bug and not related to the plane, but I'm just guessing.

I was using test runway #5 as a home base on a river.
That maybe the cause- thanks for testing.

HI ALL! Finally got a chance to install dbw_1916 patch2 and try this fine aircraft out! What a pleasure! However, I have two questions that I want to ask here, rather than take up the main WW1 thread so here goes!

First:

I have the flattish square radiators, not the nicer ones shown in reply #50.. Is this correct???

Second:

Working on a skin here, got the camouflage painted to tail and rudder, and got the proper marking applied, but no matter what I try, the paint will not show up on the wings, they stay green.. Is there a separate file??

Just a guess you may want to re-down load just that plane and install it by hand.

That darn sure is not the right one.

Ok.. now I've completely re-installed the Latest Patch2 version. My aircraft still looks like this..

Thin radiators, and green wings. I cant figure out why.

I even took the time to uninstall the Patch2 version of the Albatros DI and put in the latest version of the standalone Albatros DI.. and it STILL looked like this.. :(

I think you should remove other versions which you installed before.

yes, I extracted the default and opened it right up with GIMP, and it(the default) DOES look like that...

but when in game, the default, and ANY skin I load, has the green wings as in my screenshot. The rest of the skin loads fine, but not the wings.. they are that green with the cross.

This also happens on the W.IV variant as well.

Below you can see that I've changed the skin, to show the difference.

If anyone has this aircraft with working skins on the wings... is it possible to send me a copy of your "AIRCRAFT_Albatros DI W.IV..." folder??

Maybe that will fix it...

Thanks in advance.

There must be a second Albatros folder inside your #DBW_1916 folder which is being loaded before the one (AIRCRAFT_AlbatrosDI_WIV) I added to the patch. You can locate this 2nd folder by doing a standard windows file search for the string "AlbatrosDI".

Ok everyone! Many thanks for all of your patience! Most of the problem was my own fault, so I am to blame.  ;D

Thanks to the advices of Gumpy and Vp, I finally can enjoy this awesome fighter, and terrorize the skies in 1916!

The Green Wing Saga is over :)

No it has just started. From the first post the plane only has green wings and I was thinking that was the way it should
be.
After trying to change the paint schemes I always have a green wing.
I only have the install once in my game.
In the 3DO folder\plane\AlbatrosDI\summer\skin1o--- it shows a camo paint, but that is not what is it shows in game.

Any Ideas? Thanks for your help. If there is no fix  its no big deal.

Thanks I'll try that I use stand alone because of a limited down load of my ISP.

Thanks that was the fix.
To bad the stand alones are not up-dated.

The wing textures are coming from a file called RolandCII.tga so you can have different paints for the fuselage but not for the wings.

What game version are you using?
Some of these WW1 airplanes only fly in certain game versions.

If you are using the DBW-1916, dedicated only to WW1 flying action, check out VPmedia´s all-in-one
packages... https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,26088.0.html

He has collected all the improvements and fixes from all around and placed ALL working airplanes for WW1
into a big and simple installation.
