The combat experiences of late 1942 made it quite evident that the changes being made in the Hayabusa were not yet enough. Notwithstanding early model of Ki-43-II was finalized for production, in June 1942 Nakajima experimented with a further modification of the Model 2. The late model had its wings clipped and a simple jet effect exhaust was provided in lieu of the open one. These design tricks boosted the speed by almost 40 km/h, making of the late model a better performer than the previous one of a few months earlier. Its sole producer was Tachikawa, starting in May 1943. During fall of same year it entered service virtually on every front.

SPECIAL THANKS TO PA_JERONIMO
Tested in 4.10+DBW 1.7.1 and 4.09+UP2.01.
Credits:
main 3d meshes: 1c Company / UP.3 (modified by JAPANCAT).
New engine and exhaust, better wheels and propeller, default skins: courtesy of PA_Jeronimo.
New FM, Beta testing, original idea, support and research: Greybeard
Hier.him, classfiles, new slot, modified default skins: Spitwulf
Templates used: eMeL
Have fun! ;)
P.S.: a note for skinners. For some reason (different material?), on the contrary of previous variants, exhaust stacks were of light color. As a consequence, although general Ki-43 skin applies, the marked zone should be sort of "light metal" or such:

works very well ! Thank you very much !! :) :)
But I am having trouble understanding ... !! :-X
In the game we have:
Ki-43-II | Ki-43-II, 1942 |
Ki-43-II-Kai | Ki-43-II Kai, 1943 |
You add two new versions:
Ki-43-II-Early | Ki-43-II early, 1942 |
Ki-43-II-Late | Ki-43-II late, 1943 |
These names do not conform to the format of the Japanese WWII. :-X
Is it correct if I write:
Ki-43-II-Early | Ki-43-IIa, 1942 |
Ki-43-II | Ki-43-IIb, 1942 |
Ki-43-II-Late | Ki-43-IIc, 1943 |
Ki-43-II-Kai | Ki-43-II Kai, 1943 |
Tks !

No sir. The letter "a" and "b" were used by western writers to identify different variants, all having same armament. Actually, Japanese used those letters, or the suffixes "Ko", "Otsu", "Hei", to identify different armaments. According to Japanese references the model Ki-43-II is divided by features into early, mid and late production types with II Kai as a final type.
The official IJAAF Table of Aircraft Designations makes no such distinctions, just referring to Ki-43-II and listing the differences simply as production changes.
Hope this helps a bit to clarify. Best regards,
GB
