Okay here is the redux P-40 Pack in full. It includes:
- P-40F/L/N from Karaya's pack, with Red_Fox90's new 3D for P-40N
- P-40K/Kittybomber III from Beo's pack, merged into 1 slot and loadout expanded. Kittyhawk/Kittybomber Mk III seen when Commonwealth nations selected, P-40K-1 seen for rest.
- Opening canopies mod by SAS~Sani, with artificial horizon fix
- New wing fixes by Birdman (Original fixes by Bee, Beowolff and Checkyersix)
- Expanded loadouts for P-40E and M. All loadouts are now written in default game format.
- Loadouts for modded slots include all USAAF ordnance, RAF bombs and the RAF/RAAF 6x 250lb 'Kittybomber' loadout (as well as 2x 250lb + droptank)

Installation
1) Delete ALL previous versions of the P-40F, L, N and K (include Kittybomber Mk III) as well as the P-40 opening canopies and wings fix prior to installation
2) Extract archive to your MODS, #SAS or #DBW folder within your Il-2 modded install
3) Find air.ini, plane_ru and weapons_ru, and add lines from the Readme
4) Please note the updated loadouts for the P-40E and P-40M

The game does not even start :(

HSFX5.0 is not supported. I don't have it installed and the beta tested used either SAS ModAct, DBW or UP3 to test.

Fantastic. The P40 was one of the major types used during WWII and this does them justice at last.
Thank you to all the dedicated people who made this possible.

Should we have overwritten the original P-40E and P-40M loadouts or not? I did, and now it doesn't start. DBW 1.71

Should we have overwritten the original P-40E and P-40M loadouts or not? I did, and now it doesn't start. DBW 1.71

The entries in the weapons_ru file have no effect on the game starting - so re-install the mod as per instructions.

Simply stating that 'it doesn't start' does not tell us anything.....

Alright, I have went through the entire setup, reinstalling it. It stops, and from what I see on task manager crashes around 28,000K. Anything important around there? Also for the opening canopy section, would Nocanopyopen conflict with it or not?

So I'm not alone with this problem! Same here with DBW1.71.

Yep, got all excited about this pack, and I too have the same problem - game won't even start (DBW 1.71). I disabled WindWpn's #DBW_MOD_Aircraft pack in case these was any conflict with its contents, and still no go. Hmm
Title: Re: P-40 Pack v1.0
Post by: Eldo on May 17, 2012, 05:37:49 AM
Wait... since the canopy opening is enclosed with the game, and we can't remove it... god damnit!
Title: Re: P-40 Pack v1.0
Post by: redfox on May 17, 2012, 06:17:41 AM
Sorry Eldo - seems you've got it spot on.

Something in this mod stops the game from starting even before the 'load' screen and even before it starts to write a log file.

Tried it in a vanilla DBW1.71 and it failed to load - didn't even get to the load screen...something seriously wrong.

Cheers - Redfox

Alright, but what files are associated with the canopy opening? Any ideas?

Post by: redfox on May 17, 2012, 06:44:06 AM
Alright, but what files are associated with the canopy opening? Any ideas?

All the class files are either cockpit or a/c class files, there is no individual file that just controls canopy opening....but does it really matter if it doesn't work in the game?

Cheers - Redfox

Any way to fix the mod?
Title: Re: P-40 Pack v1.0
Post by: SAS~Anto on May 17, 2012, 06:52:25 AM
This bug is puzzling me. I'm running a near stock DBW1.71 setup and this pack works perfectly fine for me. Funnily enough, it is identical code-wise to the beta that I posted in the superschool and it works fine there.

Anyway, in case there is a corruption in the download, going to upload this again and see if this works. That is the only reason I can think of why this isn't working.

If this could help: I've replaced the Beta's class files with the new ones and BANG...the Beta pack don't work as this new one!

The new download now works flawlessly on DBW17.

Just one remark: the blister flying off when open is a bit inappropriate IMHO. Blister should remain at any speed even if open.
Title: Re: P-40 Pack v1.0
Post by: HundertzehnGustav on May 17, 2012, 12:16:35 PM
an idea for yall.

The modded games are a mess.
i do not like stacking mods next to each other.
I like my 1.71 Clean, and any extras, i want to put in JSGME
Just in case i screw up (and i DO - even if i keep quiet about it and get my ass out of my own mess)

so:
If you like your 1.71 clean, and extras only vis JSGME
AND
If you are using the extras from Windweapon https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,19921.0.html

then do the following.
DISable Windweapon^s aircraft Pavk.

+open the "jsgmemods" folder
+find the folder that is called "#DBW_MOD_Aircraft". Open it by doubleclick
-+open the #DBW folder
--+find the "+P-40 Pack folder" you just downloaded
--+ copy that "+P-40 Pack" Folder inside there, so that it sits along the other Folders.
Now that you are at it, you see the STD folder below the Spit XIX contraprop?
+ open the STD folder
-+go to com, then Maddox, then il2 then objects folders.
-+inside the objects folder there is an air.ini Use this file to paste the air.ini lines from the readme.
+go back to the STD folder. inside the STD folder there is the i18n folder.
-+in th i18n folder you find the *_ru files. Use these to edit the loadouts and stuff

===================================
now you have not added the P-40 pack to 1.71.
you have added the P-40 Pack to Windweapons Planes pack.

re-enable that mod in JSGME. let JSGME do its thing, will take a moment. Visit your favorite adult site while waiting. (get your adrenaline ready...)
load game.
Load N variant.
feel it...

Thank you very much - the pack loads fine (DBW 1.71) and all the P-40s (esp. the new P-40N) look fantastic.

A couple of questions regarding the P-40N:

1) Is there any way for us to edit the national markings such that, when selecting USAAF, only the aircraft number shows but not the national insignia (white star on blue circle)?  This way the star and bar painted on the skin is used instead.  P-40F, K, and L already handle the national marking this way.

2) Nose Arts don't seem to work on the P-40N.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Installed just fine into hsfx 5.1 but there is a wing graphics glitch when directly off to the side close up you can see thru the wing, bank plane and hole goes away. Also N model light has 6 displayed guns and has 4 that fire, replicating the 4 gun version. Looks and works fine though in hsxf5. I dont have any of the canopy mods just stock hsfx 5 with several planes added in. great stuff, love the L model, looks lean.

Ben_wh: I'll look into the markings but if we do fix it as I believe it will need to be, it will increase the mod filesize significantly. Not sure why noseart isn't working

Stugumby: The P-40N did come in a 6 gun variant (which is modelled both in 3D and loadout), as well as a 4 gun (loadouts included). We need to do some additional 3D work if we want only 4 gun stubs protuding from the wings when 4 gun loadouts are selected. As I understood though, the vast majority of P-40N's that were in RAAF service were shipped as 6 gun variants and had the extra guns removed in field, therefore they would have still had the gun stubs present.

Alexander: Try downloading again. The readme is working in the version I downloaded.

Ben_wh: I'll look into the markings but if we do fix it as I believe it will need to be, it will increase the mod filesize significantly. Not sure why noseart isn't working

Thank you Anto.  Speaking only personally, I wouldn't mind the file size increase for this mod but I understand the concern.

If this has not been said enough - thank you again for the really great job on this plus your other mods.

Cheers,

Thanks Anto. I love the P-40 too.

I can download the pack and it shows as a 23,236 kb 7z file, but when I extract it, all the files show an "Unknown Method" error. I've tried downloading again with no luck. Is anyone else having this problem?

Had the same issue until I downloaded and used this extraction utility, see link below.

       http://www.7-zip.org/

Prior to this, I was trying to extract the file using winzip without success.  :-[

I downloaded from M4T with no issues.

I was using 7-Zip 9.20 to extract. I see there is a 9.25 out so I'll update and give it a try. Thanks.

Everything seems to work great except for the open canopy feature in my old 4.09 install, and I'm having a ball shooting the shit out of everything in the new P-40N. Thanks again Anto.

When shooting at the new P-40N and P-40L in my 109, I often have the sim crash. It really only happens when hit the P-40s. I've never had this problem before, and the problem does not occur when shooting at a hellcat or P-39Q-10. It's very weird. I'm running this pack in my 4.09m SAS Modact 2.3 install. I have deactivated all other P-40 mods. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

I'm really enjoying the new N model with my SAS modact.  Boelke, might there be something to do with the N in your Files folder?  I've never run DBW, but I understand some mod systems have stuff hiding in there as well as the Mods folder.  And the Files one always loads first.  Just a thought...

I couldnt help comparing the new model with existing drawings to see how it compares.  The new cockpit section is a thing of beauty, however I notice there are two areas that are inherited from the default P-40E/M models, namely the too long nose and the too short tail.  By fiddling about with the Hier file I was able to move the nose and tail back in relation to the cockpit, without messing up the way the skins work.  A quick and dirty fix, but I'd be happy to donate the edited Hier to the cause if it will help.

Below is the before and after, superimposed with a profile of the N from www.p40warhawk.com

No problem at all Bee :)

We will release an update to this at some stage. We'll include an additional 3d folder for USAAF (as we already have one for all the other P-40s) and the markings will be fixed. We'll also do some trickery with the guns, so the correct number of barrels appear.

Also for those having problems with the 7zip link, added an additional link from Mission4Today (in .rar format).

Glad everyone is enjoying this though.

Then I look at the Bee's profile comparison, it looks like that the cockpit is just a bit too back in game. I see in both comparisons that the position of wing root is off about as much as the fixed nose and tail error. I'd like to see how well the profile matches the 3D model before Bee's fix when the wing root is used as reference point instead of cockpit. For me it looks like we now have to choose between faulty cockpit position (before Bee's fix) and faulty wing position (with Bee's fix).

Thank you, this is indeed fantastic. That's so great and so important. It feels a huge void of an important plane. It seems now much more correct that before. I think it was so much needed.

The P-40 is a plane I learned to respect here in IL-2. Before IL-2, I had too the erroneous impression that it was more or less equivalent with the hurricane. Until I started doing some missions.
I managed continously to get back mission after mission and my respect got higher. I started looking at reviews about P-40 flying characteristics and after reading Ray Hanna's opinion about the P-40 I was impressed by its positive impressions, that matched the IL-2 "flying experience".
That is the P-40, a trouble-free plane with no vices and only one handicap (but an important one...) compared to comtemporary fighters: Being slower.

Now, about the mod, I checked Bee's hier and it seems better to me, definetely but looking at it, it seems very close to perfection, this maybe true that the cockpit position is now wrong, I don't know, but definetely better than the original hier.

I want to make two requests too (I hope you don't mind...)

The one is about the P-40N cockpit, is any chance to have a proper one?

The second, I suppose you are aware of this mod

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,5334.0.html

why don't you add in the loadouts the soviet FAB bombs as in the VVS mod?

You need to put the +P-40_Pack folder in your #DBW folder then add this information to your air ini file.

Quite right Birdman, well spotted.  I found that I couldn't change the relationship between the cockpit and wing leading edge, so I had to opt for the nose/tail option instead.  Not ideal, but it helps in overall impression.

Hi everybody!

My congratulations to all of the team members that brought about this wonderful pack and making my favorite aircraft a little easier to look at in Il-2. I was able to download pack without any problem and all of the new P-40s seem to be functioning properly. Thanks for even fixing the antenna wires on the "E" model! I do have one slight problem with the entire P-40 family in the game now and I have heard other members mention this briefly as well. From the external view, and looking from the wingtip towards the fuselage at certain angles, the upper wing panels become transparent from just past the tip to the wing root.

Before adding the new P-40 pack, I updated from DBW 1.6 to 1.7 and verified that everything worked. Also the P-40E and M were displaying properly at that time. I verified that all other previous P-40 mods and fixes were removed from the DBW mods folder. When I installed the new pack, the missing wing panels problem occurred. I have had the same problem before with the P-40s since the dihedral mod came out but found a cure for at least the "E" and "M" models with a wing fix patch that Beowolff put together. So now I am wondering if there are several of the built-in files of DBW that I need to remove in order to solve the problem, or do I need to ask Beowolff to make up a new wing patch for the series? Any help that you can provide will be much appreciated!

I don't know if anyone is planning to do further work to the P-40 line but I had a couple of suggestions.......
1)Adding the pilot's armor plate backing to the new P-40N model
2)Creating another slot for a later model P-40F based off of the P-40L model with the 6 gun set-up.
3)Possibly adding a relector gun sight to the "K"-"N" models for the external view.
Anyway, one can dream. Thanks again for all of the hard work and I hope to hear of a solution for the disappearing upper wing panels.

-Wackywings
Title: Re: P-40 Pack v1.0
Post by: Birdman on May 22, 2012, 10:59:00 AM
That disappearing wing panel bug is an unfortunate side effect of my wing dihedral fix version, and I don't know any easy way to fix it. Luckily, that bug doesn't appear in perfect graphics mode, so try to select perfect landscape detail in hardware settings. If you can't run in OpenGL mode or get too low FPS in perfect mode, then you can just avoid looking at that buggy direction or update your hardware to get the best possible graphics in IL-2.

Hi Birdman....and thanks a million for that speedy reply!!!!!! I switched over the graphics selector and no more problem...absolutely wonderful! It's a shame that whoever built the original P-40 3D models for Il-2 didn't do at least as well as those responsible for the Bf109, Fw190, and Spitfires.

Anyway, thanks again, and I'll look forward to the new default skins for the "N" model and other projects from your group.

-Wackywings

Yes, me too I was surprised the armored headreast was missing.  It seems that all combat-ready P-40Ns were like this:

I have too some suggestions:

-P-40K-10s which were identical with the -M model apart the engine performance (more power at sea level, less power at altitude). They need a new default skin.

-Kittyhawk I, same with IA/E but with four 0,50 machine guns.

-As I wrote before, new loadouts with soviet bombs.

It's up to Anto to do what he likes. I enjoyed the new planes very much.

A question: What version is the P-40N? P-40N-20?

I have not seen in the install notes if this p-40 pack fixes the horrendous "thick" cables attached to the wings for the p-40E. I'm currently flying 2.01/4.09m and would love to fix that. An old mod that fixed it link is broken so you can't find that one anymore. If this fixes it then i would be a happy camper.  ;D

I've tried to make this mod work several times but no way. Always the same crash to desktop at 70% load. I've deleted everything in the mod folder which has to do with P-40 but still the same. Which makes me ask the author something. When you mention the files plane_ru and weapons_ru, are you referring to those in the Files folder or the one in the MODS folder? And another question. In the weapons_ru file there are some lines which make reference to the P-40-E plane. Should the original P-40-E lines be rewritten with these ones? I'm running 4.09 version and UP 2.01.

ru.properties dont matter, as they are optional. they cannot cause a crash of any type. 70% is usually caused by something wrong with the air.ini.

wrong Mo, 70% is caused by something in one of the ground object .ini. to fix these you probably have to re-install because errors can be a bitch to find here

this is most likely a 60% crash, and not 70%......
sometimes the loading screen reads 70%, and it's actually 60%.
which is more likely a buttons problem.
sakivano, you haven't said what game version you are running.....

Well, I first downloaded the version 9.7 for 4.09m, and thinking they were the problem, I downloaded the buttons I found here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8993.0.html, with the same sad result. And most curious thing. If I drop the folder +P40 in the MODS folder but I don't modify the air.ini, plane_ru and weapons_ru files, I can fly and I can open the cockpit, but a couple of seconds later the screen freezes and the cursor appears, so I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to come back to the desktop........  :-[

these are all symptoms of having reached the java memory limit here, sakivano.
best way to test - remove/disable one or two other mod planes, then try these again and see what happens.  :D

First thing first! What OS are uoy using, XP or W7? If any of those move your IL2 folder out of the "Program Files" folder to any place else on your HDD(s) as the "Program Files" have special attention from the OS! Never put games (maybe other than M$ own games) in "Program Files"!!!!!!! That is asking for trouble you don´t need !!

I'm using W7 Ultimate 64 bits. And I didn't know it's better not to install a game in Program Files. Ok, I'll move it to another place. Anyway, apart from it, I'm going to delete most of the content in the Mods folder, then I'll try this mod and if it works, I'll begin to place the mods previously deleted,  little by little, to see if there is any conflict with any of them. I'm looking forward to making this mod work and fly one of my favourite plane in more versions. PS: By the way, as to skins, should I create folders in the Skins folder and drop skins there (skins taken from original P-40-E and P-40-M)?
Title: Re: P-40 Pack v1.0
Post by: SAS~Malone on May 28, 2012, 01:15:10 AM
for the skins - yes, that is fine. ;)
it sounds like you are using the right process, and hopefully you will sort it out soon.
for removing mods, it is usually mods with several classfiles that can cause the memory crash.
check how many classfiles the P-40 pack uses, then remove one or two other airplane mods that have about the same amount of classfiles, then test with this pack. it should work. ;)

Why I see all that discussion about antenna wires? Thin wire mod should already be included in the pack, at least I have the thin wires in the release version I downloaded. The version Malone posted also seems to be some older version of the wire fix, not the one included in the pack.

yeah, sorry Birdman, guys - this whole thing started when someone asked if it was included, as it wasn't in the readme.
i haven't even installed this yet, so i'm flying blind here, and my version is indeed an older, and probably not quite correct one.
i don't know why guys can't just fly the planes and look for themselves before asking, it would make life easier for a lot of us....
i've removed my wires link to avoid the inevitable confusion... ::)

Yeah but I'm running 2.01/4.09 with buttons 8.7 and not about to give up my Tiger sound mod UV2 until UV3 is out and fully worked out all bugs. LOL. I would love this p-40 mod but after reading I need buttons 9.7 (like duh) i know it wont work. So I'll stick this out however I'll add it to my dbw copy and i already know that i will have a flawless install. DBW is pretty sturdy.

If you use the UP2.01 + UV2 (TigerSound standard version) you must use the specific buttons ( buttons_UV2 or "buttons_C6"):
http://www.checksix-forums.com/showpost.php?p=1249363&postcount=255

Current version v8.7e!
Since SAS no longer manages the 409 buttons I kept the name "8.7" to which I add a letter.
This buttons_UV2 is broadcast only on this French site.

Do not confuse with the buttons_SAS_409 version 9.7 that I treat on this board! This buttons can only be used with different mods Sound of UV2.

Does anyone else have a memory problem with this mod? I get the famous [the instruction at "0x5ed0530e" referenced memory at "0x0000051c"] error message prior to CTD at some point during my P-40 flights. Not immediately, but inevitably sometime. Reducing numbers of aircraft in the air.ini files doesn't seem to do anything. Any ideas? I really love the new P-40N visual model, by the way!

Hi folks, I'm getting back into modding after a year or two and I've run into a problem with this mod in particular. I'm running window's 7 home premium, on a clean install of DBW 1.71, on 1946 4.10_1m. When I alter the air.ini to add the lines in for the new P-40, I experience game crashes when the game is first loading and displays it is "70%" loaded. I don't believe I've added the lines in correctly, it's just a paste job in, and I've attempted it in a few different ways now. I've tried moving the game out of my program files as well, any ideas?

Too complicated. Too confrontational. For a minimal gain on 3D only and losing versions of P-40.

maybe its only on my installation? dont know

An error appears when I extract the files (it says  "Unknown Method in +P40Cod....") in the MODS folder. I did add the corresponding lines but my game won't open. The files on the ZIP file are corrupted, broken. If they weren't corrupted the error wouldn't appear when I extract them. Could someone please re upload the file to Mediafire?

If you mean the 7z pack from Mediafire, then looks like you have outdated version of 7zip. Just update your 7zip and try again. The pack itself should be OK but it uses compressing method that is not supported by older 7zip versions.

If your using HSFX, you'll want these. They work in HSFX and are alot better than the old Stock ones.

Of note regarding installation into HSFX.

HSFX has its own buttons which has been tuned specifically for HSFX.  The P40E and M updates per this mod will work correctly without any change to the HSFX buttons, however if you wish to include the additional P40s, then the latest SAS buttons (note buttons file affects sounds and flight modeling) is required.

I currently have attempted to remain with the HSFX buttons for my WWII period install while complementing air additions with AutoDiffFM if an air model includes it own FM.  However, if not, then the plane will have to be excluded from the air.ini allowing the game to load without those plane additions.  In the case of this mod for HSFX, I only added the mod itself while not adding the air.ini additions.  However, I did add the loadout additions for the E and M models as they are included in HSFX.

Thus for the E and M models running stock HSFX buttons, they look great!

I have a problem with the P-40F,L,N. as soon as I click fly and the game loads the P-40 explodes. This is in my install SAS Mod 4 and HSFX.
In this folder I have the AutoDiffFM and the SAS Engine_Mod_4111m_v26. Would they effect this issue?
The install for DBW works great.
I have looked through his thread and did not see anyone with this issue.

Any ideas?

You also need the 10.3 buttons. (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,97.msg362.html#msg362)  AutoDiffFM will not work since the pack does not include the individual FMs for each P40.

Note, If you do want to maintain the HSFX buttons (for example if you are using UV3 Expert), the simply do not include the F,L,N models in your air.ini update.  The E and M which are stock in HSFX will still be updated with loadouts and 3d fixes.

Well I tried taking out the AutoDiffFM and the game crashes at 70%

What I am working with is a SAS Mod4_HSFX 6.0.17 game.
The SAS Mod game loads and works except for the P-40F explodes. The HSFX side with the P-40 (not in the Mods folder), it loads but now in Quick Mission, it starts to load, then gets a error message: Mission failed to load:null. Even putting the P-40 back in, the error for the failed load still comes up.

It was working until I was messing around with the AutoDiffFM, now it does it all the time even with the AutoDiffFm in or out and the +P-40 (changing the air.ini and plane_ru) in or out. I only have a few items in the Mods folder. What I have is the Me-109 cockpit, the Me-262 cockpit, the F4U cockpit and a gun sound file. Which were all working before I tried the P-40. Not saying that this was the cause, just a frustration in what is going on. The exploding plane is still a mystery now with another problem.

The exploding plane is still a mystery now with another problem.
Inconsistency in the buttons or external FM. The call for the engine (emd file) is incompatible.
"Compatible 411" does not mean that it is "compatible HSFX6".
Especially if you use the "expert" mode.

I get the same error message too, but only when the P-40's are damaged or destroyed. So maybe it has something to do with damage model?
(I'm using 4.09m UP2.1)

The only way to counter this problem now is to.... NOT GET SHOT!! lol  :D

 :) hello

I have the same problem as glibble.

 someone has a solution?

I discover the same situation in my 409 game version!

This happen on all P40 from E to N and is related to something that the plane do after being hit when in enemy side (red).

I got it almost immediately in desert on line blue none mission with 4 KI-43Ic vs 4 P-40E letting AI drive my plane from start.

As the planes shoot each other in the first frontal passage the memory error happen....or in the next few minutes....

For me reverting to my old P40 mods solve the issue!

BTW tested in 410 the error never happen!
Title: Re: P-40 Pack v1.1
Post by: WindWpn on May 01, 2013, 03:39:23 PM
Solution is to not include the "new" P40s in your HSFX install if you are sticking to the HSFX buttons.  Basically, to use the new P40s requires the SAS 10.3 buttons, however, then you lose the HSFX FMs along with Tiger's sound if using that too.

All in all, its a choice.  However, one thing you can do (I did this) is to include the mod, but do not add the air.ini entries for the "new" P40s.  You will still get the upgrades for the E and M, but will bypass the other "new" 40s.

Kind of a compromise.

I'm having a problem, my game crashes when I open the Canopy on the P-40. I think there was a previous mod which enabled the canopy to open and it's interfiering with the new one. I can't find it!

Okay, I need some help with this! I am running DBW 1.71 and New TFM. This pack was working today until I tried to add skins to this pack. I downloaded the pack for this mod, made a skin folder, and added the skins. I then proceeded to download more skins and put them in folders I made. For example, I made folders: paintschemes\skins\p-40n and I also made a p-40f. I then, put skins inside the folders. I first activated the mod by dropping the 57mb pack into my DBW folder and the 23mb pack into jsgme. I activated it via jgsme and everything worked until I added skins. Once it stopped working, I deleted the files and extracted them into my DBW folder--it didn't work. All the lines are added in my air.ini, weapons_ru and plane_ru (located in sample UP MOD). I am also using 4.12fx and Gore FX if that helps.

No problem, Guzknife ! everyone does mistakes !

Working now (tested in 4.10), but a little bug with the machine guns : when I fire them, they continue to shoot for a few seconds more even if I release the button of my joystick... will see in 4.12 as well...

Edit : no problem in 4.12/ModAct. And in 4.10, I looked more closely, and it seems that the MGs are firing when I press the button, and stop when I release it, but the sound of the MGs continues to repeat itself for 2 or 3 seconds... if someone else would have a look...

Don't know what wing fix you're speaking of, at any rate there's an alternative P-40N at following link:

http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1673 (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1673)

be aware it is incompatible with this SAS P-40 pack, so either you retain this latter or replace with the sole corrected P-40N. 8)

Would be great if this SAS pack would be updated with a P-40N that does not crash the game when damaged: I miss other variants like P-40F, as well as openable canopies. :(

A fix for the wings of the stock versions of the p-40 and the F & L is actually available on this site(New Wings for P-40 E, F, L, and M update to v1.02), but isn't useful for the N version apparently...

I downloaded this plane, but before installing it,I just have 1 question : is it normal that it just has 1 and only classfile ?

:D
why not ?  ;)

Mother Class already exist : P_40
Cockpit used already exist : CockpitP_40M
Plane used already exist : 3DO/Plane/P-40M(USA) & (Multi1)
FM used already exist : P-40M.fmd

In short, you take the P-40M-1 is you the same thing!  :D

Hello, I tried to install the P40 pack on my HSFX 7. The game start but in QMB, I can't see the plane when I choose the armement. It's just like there is no 3D.
Did I miss a patch ?

That's it?
I feel it lacks info ...
You have activated the Mod "InstantLog"?

I feel that there is a problem with the FM of the aircraft. But that does not justify the lack of visualization in the QMB / FMB.

Remember that "compatible 412" does not mean "compatible HSFX7."

Someone may can help me? I had years ago early P-40s with ring and bead gunsight. I cannot remember which main mod I used than, now I'm using the ModAct. Was it in a different mod maybe? P-40B, Tomahawk IIa and Chinese Hawk 81 surely had that kind of gunsight. Now I have the stock gunsights from the original game. I'm using this P-40 pack as well.

Thank you, Tobias! :) Now it is much better, I really don't like the stock "hanging style" reflex sight of the AVG Hawk, too much frame in way.

Hate to bump this, but I'm having the same issue with this pack...

Anybody else?  I read the entire thread and didn't see a fix mentioned.
Any time P-40s are in a mission, as soon as they start getting shot up, any P-40, the game likes to crash to desktop.

Got halfway through the replies, and saw nothing about any weapons pack requirements. Having just updated to 4.09, I see weapon names here appearing nowhere else in weapons_ru.properties. I *suspect* the stock game doesn't have those.

Before installing, I need to know if extra weapons are needed, and if so, where to get 'em.

Thanks, from a late bloomer among rebels!

Try to install it anyway: usually these packs includes required special weapons. Personally, I can't recall ever need to search and download extras for Hurricane pack. In any case, this does not harm; after installation, check "Arming" screen and scroll down to the bottom the loadout: if you read "Empty" all is OK.

Here is a series of weapons that I put at the disposal of the Rebels:

Tab "MODS_IL-2" and tab "Arms"

I update from time to time. Otherwise I supply the new weapons in the Mods.

It turns out that I didn't need any extra weapons.

Tried out the birds, to verify that they work. I had a couple of CTDs, before figuring it must result from my modded classfiles which incorporate the gear damage mod (and probably other stuff), as well as improved compass behaviour. So I simply replaced the classfiles included here with my own. Seems stable now.

-----------

I note that the F and K use the M cockpit. I should think they should instead use the E cockpit. I've already altered the F class file accordingly, and am planning to do the same for the K.

That's because the principal difference between these 'pits in our game is the gun sight. The E was fitted with an early N-2 sight, which had the sight head as a cast piece having triangular metal sides supporting the reflector plate. Some of you may already be using my sight mod for the E, and know what I'm talking about. (My F4F-3 has a similar sight head, albeit of taller form suitable for the generous look-down angle over the cowling on such Navy fighters.)

I've seen pics of the K having badically the same sight head, albeit with the sight body lying horizontal and having an intermediate mirror housing. But fundamentally the same basic sight.

As far as I can tell, it was only later '40s which were fitted with the 'cleaner' sight head having just the reflector plate glass protruding up from the sight head. As for my sight mod for the M, which I hope you all are using. ;)

Seen? I guessed was the same of Hurricane and almost all other similar mod. P-40 pack, IMO, is not a good start point to work on modding P-40. Better to start from stock ones. The various non-stock variants in P-40 pack are arguably, and some defective (see this thread (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=33898.0) about P-40N).

The creators of this mod pack will surely appreciate your recognition of their efforts.
"That thread" about the P-40N... well, I'll think about making it sticky as an example how not to report something.
