Title: DiFF_FM Mod file [4.09]
Post by: SAS~CirX on March 03, 2010, 07:12:24 AM
Hi guys

this is the DiFF_FM mod classfile you will need in your game to be able to use any of planes that use a DiFF_FM mod FM file. Just pop it in your STD folder or somewhere.

Thank you
What is the purpose of diff_fm ?

I think it is for planes (like for example Pe2 serie 206 before it got included in the last Buttons) with a FM that is not in the Buttons. Kind of separate Buttons... am I right ?

In such a case, where must the FM file go ? in the same folder than the plane ? in the same folder than the Buttons ?

same folder as plane

I already have a diff_fm in my mods folder (if I recall correctly, this came with Sani's original Kubelwagen/jeep). Do I need to add this one too? Thanks,

Bravo, i think this was the question. and you better not just dump the FM file right into MODS. it nedds to be in a folder within MODS. so best in the plane folder it belongs to.

it all depends what you are talking about: The FILE , or the FOLDER THAT THE FILE IS IN.

the file is called 294ABC86A89FAEB4 , and it should be INSIDE another folder in your mods folder. This other folder can be named anything you like.

Where does it go with HSFX4.11 install?

the question from Gaston was (may i translate): "when I download a plane with a seperate FM file, where does this FM file go?"
-> answer: into the planes folder within MODS.

Dietz in HSFX 4.11, you just go to root IL2 directory, make a newfolder, rename that to Mods
then stick the Diff_FM fiolder into the Mods folder. Atleast thats what I did.

One more possible cause is to have the "Advanced Engine Management" mod enabled not from JSGME, but (for whatever reason) from the mods folder.
If the AEM subfolder's name is alphabetically behind the DiffFM mod, the DiffFM mod will be disabled (classfile conflict).
The other way around, if AEM is alphabetically in front of the DiffFM mod or activated via JSGME and DiffFM mod is installed, the Advanced Engine Management won't work.

It's a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea.

In order to help out those few being affected by this issue, I did some preliminary merged version of AEM and DiffFM which can be found here:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/17146530/AEM_with_DiffFM.zip (http://www.gamefront.com/files/17146530/AEM_with_DiffFM.zip) or
https://www.mediafire.com/?infqw934wzi08ar (https://www.mediafire.com/?infqw934wzi08ar)

Credits belong to the original creators of AEM/DiffFM respectively.

Best regards - Mike

huh  I tried everything, I tried it manx different ways, but still doesn't work for me , and I can't understand why is that. Earlier I had never got any problem like this. I don't know what else can I do XD maybe my UP 2.0 is really out of date...

when you get a crash from not having the diff_fm mod, it occurs at 60 percent loading.  so if your's is doing it at 70 percent loading or 'after' the plane loads (while trying to fly or go into load out screen) then it's probably NOT the diff_FM mod causing it.
That's right.
The 70% step initializes the Mission Builder (i.e. QMB/FMB).

Did anyone realize that the links advised in this topic for downloading the DiFF_FM Mod, load a 294ABC86A89FAEB4 file of different size compared with the one included in a fresh installation of SASModact 2.72? In the first case is 41.7 KB but the original is 37 KB only.

In fact I checked both and the original works by the new one crash at 60%. Any explanation about ?

Thanks.

Perhaps it is because this is the 4.09 game version, and the one in modact 2.72 is the 4.10 game version. :)
