Title: Huge project
Post by: KevinHoggard on September 10, 2018, 09:00:18 PM
While trying to figure out a good ending mission for the Guadalcanal Campaign, I have started on a USS Enterprise 41-45 Campaign.

I'm going to try and be like 80-90% accurate with these missions. In to it with 6 missions so far midway through the Early Raids. Attacking Wake now.

Hi Kevin,
Well you have certainly set yourself a task this time! ....but such great news!
I had been working my way through the double Enterprise compilation that has been on M4T for some time, revising and updating what I could. I edited many of the missions and fiddled around with ships etc, and by doing so converted the accumulated rust around around my memory and did a certain amount of research on the Big E and her colorful career to try to get things as as right as my computer abilities would allow. It was a great campaign in two parts that always hoped could be rewritten. Thank you for taking it on. In a word, thank you, and looking forward the heat and mosquitoes of Cactus Air Base!

Good luck with it. I'm doing a RAAF 'what if' campaign there for the later part of Operation Cartwheel. Player will fly the Vengeance and Boomerang.

I didn't really realize how many ground attacks the Big E's Air Groups made. Currently researching the combat logs and writing down the possible missions. Currently I'm at the Raids st Formosa right before Leyte Gulf, and it's well over 40 missions.... Hahaha

Still writing down missions, it's late October 1944, Battle of Leyte Gulf ended and I'm at 55 missions. Still have numerous missions for 1945.

Will this be too big? I don't want people to get bored with it.

Itsounds huge but there was once a campaign that started june 22 1941 and ended in may 1945, I don´t remember the name of it (could be Ostfront or Barbarossa) but it was extreamly long, involved missons from Ukraine, Belarus, Moscow, Murmansk, Finland and more. I think some 600 missions altogether! I flew them all in a few years time. I think this was around mid 200x! So I don´t think we´ll get bored!

Dear Kevin,

Really looking forward to this! Thanks in advance for your efforts

My opinion is that such large projects should be presented as chapters, parts, phases... you name it. Finishing a 10 or 15-mission campaign and moving on to the next adds that sense of accomplishment and progress you require to keep players engaged.

Thanks Whistler,

Currently finished mission 18 in the FMB.... Battle of Santa Cruz...

Wondering where I should make these "chapters"... So far I have the Early Raids / Doolittle Raid / Battle of Midway / Invasion of Guadalcanal / Battle of the Eastern Solomon's / and Battle of Santa Cruz

I tried to have all of Task Force 58... but FPS was unplayable for me, so I decided to just have the Task Group that the Enterprise was in.

I'm sorry but where did you find them? Can you give me a link or something?

Hi,
If you do not know this site already, she was a great help for my Pacific DCG campaigns:

All the best for your projects!

Hey guys... I had to take some time off.  I'm back again and trying to figure out how to end this campaign.  Right now it is at 52 missions early 1945.  Just wanted you to know I haven't forgotten about this.  Fly from the Big E for the entire War

I am currently finishing up mission 50, of 61. I’m figuring a few more weeks to finish the missions then getting all the knee board photos done up. Took a while to research the last few months of action of the Big E, but I think I have a nice ending to it.

Stay tuned

Hi Kevin,
This has been a monumental task for you, and I think congratulations of a premature nature are most deserved. I have played the old two part packaged Big E campaigns and where possible carried out small mods, mainly to ship types and aircraft skins to correct as much as possible and have really enjoyed them, but judging by your earlier and most recent efforts, your Big E really has me all fired up and ready to launch. "Bring her into the wind and  all ahead flank!" :)
