Title: Tom's small cockpit mods 4.12.2/4.09, PA_Jeronimo involved heavily
Post by: SAS~Tom2 on May 18, 2015, 01:00:36 PM
Since I made so many small! but time intensive cockpit mods, I thought about re-uploading and or regrouping them in one thread.None of this would have been doable without PA_Jeronimo, my mesh hero for pits.
These pits may or may not work for various game versions as for e.g. Mustangs! Try and backup!! I did not include 335th_F_Red's gorgeous remeshed and updated pits, these are a stand alone at SAS and also do not work well in DBW or 4.12 IIRC.

1

#_Mig-21:
No new meshes, but recolour etc.
The folder is the same name as the original SAS~S3 upgrade made for the 2nd Gen Mig-21 thread.
No classfiles, so whatever version of 4S_Vega's new FMs you may use can work.
But these files will override cockpit gauges and layouts from the default Mig-21 2nd Gen install folder named MiG_21 or 0_MiG_21 or whatever.

Both PF and PFM pits now have a black tuned switchboard upper right. Like I saw it on RL shots....e.g.:
(http://s20.postimg.cc/bb9rd8d6x/ds_mig_21pfm_cockpit_03.jpg) (http://postimg.cc/image/bb9rd8d6x/)

PF version with stronger canopy reflection to give the F-16 blister a sort of room/spatial feel from inside.

The PFM version has the same used on the Mig-21MF/bis/s-I find that one a little more immersive.
Also the colour was tuned and the black switchboard right of the radar added.
All pits use the version without animated radar because that one still has the bug with missing switches.

Also I tuned the saturation and added a (humble try>soso) gauge shine.

That one worked better on my P-38 improvement.

Options:
Extra PF version, black one.
Inside folders are some files marked - or -- aka with one or more minus signs in front. Open them and you see what they are, e.g. different panels or pron stuff lol.  This counts for all 'my' pit mods.

F-80....Placeholder, pit not finished!
One of several attempts I made.
Base was crazyflak's Shooting Star mod.

Unknown: Canopy reflection I used to modify colours.
NonWonderDog-reticles IIRC.
mfisch2004, maybe some files used here.
Me-Mirror repositioning and resizing after Rl shot(s).
Canopy colours inside.
Grouping of some textures.
Anyone I forgot!

PA_Jeronimo-> all new meshes
me, rest, some texture recolouring, adding reflection inside cockpit, tuning front shields.
Note: Another extra front shield tint for P-51As, WIP cockpit underway as soon as some levers are rounded up.
I researched all front shields for all versions and got them as close as I could do them. I can back up all or most versions with RL shots. But I am not doing it atm..

OOH  8) Very nice cockpits. *Big Applause*
I specialy like the new colors and details. Great artsy paint work on all of them!

I have done a few cockpit re-paints for my personal game as well, so I know how dificult it is to paint skins
for the cockpits. Its a very stressful job  :P

Many thanks mate..well, most of it is just re-arranging, only some are actual really edited, like the Mig-21s or that long coming P-51A I hope to finish soon with help from master mesh.
In any case with such pits, always backup chaps.

I have a reuqest for anyone who can code mirrors for cockpits, please.  :-[ :(
PA_Jeronimo has made a mirror for the Sabres long ago. I provided fotos etc.

The problem is this thing will not work without some extra code and so far no modder has taken the time to look into it.
I lack the skills to do so.

So, if anyone is interested, I would send the necessary files.

I want to post a Sabre pack for the Jet era and one for 4.09m.
All based on Freddy's cockpit of course, with more or few cromhunt extra gauges.

Any taker welcome.

Tomorrow I will finetune the inner front green tint. That stuff is historical. I can even provide dedicated colours for Avon Sabres, some stuff I made back then for HistoMod, cromhunt gauges repainted IIRC.

RL, sometimes the mirrors are stripped off, what these vids show is the center green part on the front. ;)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pgBZLnfTro

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zalOQWhiWs

BTW if you look for that Russian design payware sim add on pit, compare to the above, I hate that pit. Front parts suck. Freddy's, a few details missing of course, is better...of course it does not have shadows, but who cares.

Hi,

sorry, not my area and TBH for the real good mods :-\ 3D editing is involved (most planes) and this is nothing I am capable off.
But I would not give up that hope as there is one thread here at SAS constantly popping out new goodies, so maybe one day you get your wish granted.  :-\
For another WWII fighter I will not name here, some very good modders prepare some new mod, I am sure you will like it...as it relates to a GB fighter not so famous but very cool.

Cheers

You have an optional mirror hier.him file in the upload.
Mod folder named 0_Jet_Era goes into your Mods folder (#SAS or #DBW or #UP# ...if jet era mod is installed).

Option
Blue grey tex for later Sabre....goes into F-86F sub folder.
Again 4.09m shot, result is similar in 4.12
(http://s20.postimg.cc/loh8e26dp/19_06_2015_21_01_44.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

If you do Not want the gauges but rather the stock Jet Era ones, disable the F-86_Textures folder with a minus sign.

For 4.09m...see rebel base. ;)
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,46792.0.html

Folders

https://www.mediafire.com/download/18oeqbfm11doygt/In....%23SAS+or+%23DBW.rar#SAS_or_#DBW.rar

https://www.mediafire.com/download/pgxxyt21nhugee6/-Optional%2C+files+into+F-86F+folder+%28Avon+Sabre%29.rar

If you find the reflection too strong, open
0_Jet_Era\3do\Cockpit\F-86

and

0_Jet_Era\3do\Cockpit\F-86F

In both folders, find and open with word pad e.g.:
Glass.mat

Change the value
Shine 0.05 (or whatever it is there)

to zero aka 0 !

Then reflection and new green front glass tint will be the default saturated appearance as per F_Red/Freddy's default glass.mat file.

P.S.
If you ZOOM in, the mirror gets BIGGER, thus the size is definately ok.
ALso keep in mind in 4.12/12 with a different way of being able to zoom in, you very fast get too big dimensions, so position and size is a nice compromise.Yet WIP!

Many thanks to Jeronimo!!

Allow to overwrite, if asked.
Or simply delete the 0_Jet_Era\3do\Cockpit\F-86 folder and replace with the above.

If there is interest, I can upload a slightly changed version for PFM Mig-21s:
Front glass different tint, textures more into blue (saturated green blue though), reticle to PFM version, while PF version is untouched. Such things.

P.S.:
If you do not like the default flight models, my tip, a bit complicated:
Download 4S_Vega's great Mig-21 update mod in the SAS Aircraft section (jets), if you like the pits I uploaded (but no radar active though) use only his classfiles and the FM datfile. Or download his update first and then install my pits on top, they overwrite the cockpits with the active radar screen,  :(I skipped that one since these cockpits have one bug I could not solve (missing switches up left).

Disclaimer.

The F-86 cockpit mod with the mirror will give you the following or a similar error log. The game never crashed though with the mirror.

Code: [Select]
[11:41:04] BAD glu.Project: 25475.400390625 26549.689453125 0.0
[11:41:04] BAD glu.Project: 22558.369140625 25820.4296875 0.0
[11:41:04] BAD glu.Project: 13414.1796875 27422.439453125 0.0...
...

[11:41:04] BAD glu.Project: 10623.39 10115.52 74.758544921875

If you want to get rid of the log, deactivate the Sabre cockpits. Of course the log only appears when flying the F-86s with the hier.him change for the mirror.

Hallo Thorsten,

gerade den "!0_P-51_cockpits" Mod in mein 4.10 & DBW gesteckt.

Hatte eigentlich nicht damit gerechnet das dieser Mod auch mit 4.10 funktioniert.

Aber: Es funktioniert! WUNDERBAR! Das sieht ja tatsächlich super aus!

Vielen Dank.

Hi guys,

here is a little extra for the Mig-21PFM, civil version lol:

If you put this into #_Mig-21/Do/Cockpit/'21PFM folder, you get a PFM cockpit without the gunsight, armorframe and front armorframe buttons, a "clean" front sight, which, TBH, looks very good due to the beauty of the front frame and canopy meshes.
https://www.mediafire.com/download/kf2o703t3ax13bd/%23_Mig-21.rar#_Mig-21.rar

2 frame screws are missing in the front left, but that I take as feature, sort of where the gunsight apparatus was mounted, so the screws had to go. (You know, phantasy is a feature in sims as well)  ;) :P

So what is the progress on the WIP mods?

..WIPs..maybe a minor update on the Sabres this week, just merging the Sabre cockpit links in one to avoid confusion. ;)
Maybe (2) an F-80 update in January if I can get a befriended modder to help with one feature I cannot do myself on the front shield.

But as for Sabres and Migs, I consider the pack done. ;)

One hot tip for F-84s:
Check PA_Jeronimo's "Fix Cockpits" thread for a very nice cockpit addition at the last 2 pages or page 1.

Ah thanks for replying. I got most of his cockpit mods working with CUP and they are very nice and help a lot. Especially the Yak cockpits, since they weren't a pretty sight to look at before. Would these work with all of the planes that CUP has added? The  only ones that worked were the P38, without the custom reticule, the corsair and hellcats, the P80 without the custom reticule, and the MiG-21.

Jacoby, not sure about the Yaks as I did not work on them, I made jet mods (P-80s, F-86s, Mig-21s) I tested in 4.12, which should work in all versions except the F-86s with a dedicated 4.09m one.

The others should work in all versions, yet DBW remains uncertain on some aspects like P-51As.

Best try it, you can easyily deactivate the pits you test.

I had planned to do a complete hier.him change for the jet Era Sabres, like done with a 4.09m version, yet that turned out to be a complete super task, already over close to 15 hours on it and nogo.

So here only a small option, red cockpit lights for Sabres, overwrite previous folders, this is only an add-on.

(http://s20.postimg.cc/wb7txtg0d/2016_03_16_at_20_42_40.jpg) (http://postimage.org/)

Shot contains a canopy change I wanted to adopt for all Sabres, but I got stuck by a mesh issue.

Either stock Jet Era hier.hims with all switches visibly in or new hier.hims without that ugly nose section but buttons missing.

Sorry for that.

I do only fly Sabres in another modpack, but if I come to a solution I will post it.. ;)

The above post was only to add red gauges on top, in 2 versions.

So, to sum it up, for Sabres, small bugs left as I found out today:

Part 3
Overwrite (only red night gauges)

Gauges skipped (Uncertain if Barnesy12 will give credit)-can be added later. Should also be yellowish in real.

Adopted gunsight from Panther pits.

If you have issues with any Shooting Star in the 4S_Vega F-80 unified pack, disable the entire cockpit folder with a "-".
T-33 not yet contained, this plane has issues in my install of the above. :( ;)

Check the options folder, especially everything named K-14! A.o black and green frame versions.

This option was not included, a K-14 gunsight with one green part, see above.

K-14 is simply the name of the texture, and for this mod I stole the K-14 partially from Freddy's great Panther cockpit.

Small P-80/F-80 pit upgrade.

Nothing too fancy, mirror position corrected to be slated to the front canopy arc instead the canopy sliding part.
Some options for front center glass and K-14 gunsight texture, rather subtle.

There may or may not be a further upgrade, depending on one gentleman outside the SAS house and his interest in this mod.

P-38 mod still WIP, and a tough one at that for me as non 3D guy.

Thank you Max! :) The credit for the canopy reflection goes to WxTech, my part was finetuning the tga and mat.
(A bit buggy, that is why I sported 3 versions on that one).

Should I hear from crom there's a chance for a retex.

P-51A and P-51C cockpit mod

https://www.mediafire.com/download/3o0pe3q44444dd3/2_cockpits_for_P-51A_and_Cs.7z

W.I.P. which means I can pull the link and am not forced to do anything more on pits.

This was a considerable workload, even though the less detail loving fellas may say "what is different"?
Well, first of, while the connection to the front is still not optimal, I managed to finally get rid of the hier.him error on the P-51A low hangin mirror.  :D THAT sucked.

Even tried an F-86 mirror in between but opted for the F6-F3/5 one as the shape fits better.

Then again worked on details of that pit like canopy reflections and tint of gauges.

For the P-51C aka Freddy's great pit, I added green tinted side struts as per RL panorama view studies of P-51B cockpits.
Also retinted the gauges and added sets of reflections to choose from, tinted the front part below the armor shield green as per RL and added quite some details.
Sadly the P-51B cockpit for a reason I could not even remotely understand lately omits the side canopy (Bordcage side and upper area) reflection. So I skipped the P-51B F_Red cockpit here and present you instead my interpretation of the P-51A cockpit and that one based on bolox initial work and secondly my interpretation of Freddy's P-51C pit.

Irony here is I spent a shitload of time analyzing the B model cockpit and that one is the only version I have to lave out for now.

Maybe my graphics card is in its end or so.. :D :(

Hope you have fun-check the options.

Rest of screens laters...too tired and pissed off atm, worked the last 20 hours nonstop with 3 breaks on it-maximum.

Here is the update file, as option to the previously posted package 3 posts above. ;)

Mainly aimed at the P-51A pit.
Personal recommendation is use the P-51C pit without the extra gauge reflections and the P-51A with the gauge coloured reflections or the default reflection.

WIP Corsairs....a LOT of work.

Canopy reflection (tricky and a mild compromise, as the reflection also works on the gun glass).
3 layers needed...puh. Sadly I am no 3D man, if I was I would assign a dedicated layer for the gun glass and the front glass each and only use the cockpit reflection for the sides and frontal aspect sides.
I need a hero!

News are repainted gauges of manifold and RPM (a few markings added), red night gauges, new canopy reflection.

Thus this is WIP and object to change.

Will get 3 different canpopy reflection strength optional choices and a minor cockpit panel choice option, same for gauges.

Here is the mod. F4U Corsairs, maybe later I repack the folders for the Corsair FM pack, but you should be able to simply apply these on the FM pack, --but only with careful placing and IIRC a simply override is not possible.

Anyway, this is my pit canopy reflection mod and not a FM mod, but the chaps are free to use or change my mod, or send me a pm with an improvement.

So the aim was to add a feel of gauge and cockpit reflection to the cockpits. Later I also found out how to add a center tint to the front inner glass (Not the gunsight, which is also tackled within the relevant tga.)
Only to then see the Corsair are one of the very few WWII planes with a really dim front armor glass tint...so I opted to make the default here very subtle and ...well, check the readme.-

BTW hey guys, I like classic warbirds up to early 60s, very little connection to modern (war)planes. Boring technology in bad times. That is important to me :P

Later some screens.

PS

Only if you want options for a zero gravity aka zero inner front glass tint: :P
https://www.mediafire.com/download/p4t8kh58u1jpaq6/Z%21_Options_for_canopy_reflection_with_zero_center_glass_extra.rar

Post script.
There is one option, you will see it when you see it :D, which is rather for fun, the black brighter blueish tinted front and side struts set, that one was rather a joke to me while checking dozens of colour sets.
If you keep the default you are on the safe side...other than that, I recommend trying once the "A Black rusty tuned...funky look very much recommended" (Lol, typical name of my folders) side and top strut colours.
Aim was the canopy reflection, not the rest, and btw the green markings on the lower left gauges are no light bug but added manually and historically. ;)

One request, and not an easy one, ...:
1st: I cannot work on models or extra add-on model layers and can honestly say right now, alias the next 2 years, no time for learning it.

What I would like to do:
I fly jets in IES3, but I would make sure that also works for the jet era:

Add a cockpit canopy reflection tga for the Mig-15/17 and a center front tinted glass on top.

Like e.g. here....at bottom of post, video(s)...

So I need help from a proficient cockpit guy of Jero's or GJE52's calibre. I can add a realistic gauge inprint and finetune the front glass colour, but I need a basic tga to work as reflection and I cannot work this out my own.

I would provide the template cockpits and do all the finetune, but I need help-sorry to say and albeit I know after 2-4 months learning I could work around it, I have no time nor will to do so...my job atm demands 10 hours a day minimum 7 and then I am done.

As for your request, hguderian: I have stopped most of my fiddling with the panels. ;)
Yet
Here is an origianl bolox panel.tga, with the black panel, also historical for P-51As.

Just goes into the cockpit folder. Allow to overwrite. One version for each Mirror and colour option.
What I can offer you is also you send me a custom foto of your choice and I overwrite the default one with it. Other than that, if you are really not astisfied with black, I can try to repaint the panel from scratch with the green parts and no foto. Would be not too much work and IIRC one of your mods was the first mod I worked on for fun (IIRC Truk Lagoon) so you sure deserve a special gift.  :)

Greets

and fun please.. ;)

For fun update for P-80 pits, put a pinup between the VVI and the panel. Did not fill fully in and there was no bigger part available (panel sides would not work due to 3D curves) and splitting the pic in half to cover both center panel parts also was no solution, the mesh seemed to be uneven...so, for fun here..for those who have any of the P-80 pit mods.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/6w5jpq9y5c8xq8t/Pinups+for+P-80+as.rar

Next planned: P-38 mod, a few tricks here and there.

Hello fellow sim flyers,

still not sure about this mod. I wanted to have it the correct shaped extra compass and tried various imports from other planes..yet so far no joy, as I am not a and will not in the forseeable future be a, 3D guy.

Yet the rest I find really to my pleasure and hope to yours as well.
This was one of the many references I used over the past times or better: -months whenever I used to work on this.
http://www.airspacemag.com/panoramas/lockheed-sr-71a-1-180952064/?no-ist=

Credits in readme, almost impossible to track down every one whose work I  used as basis or inspiration. Of course this pit is close to the default TD 4.12 P-38 cockpit as well...the small changes and options to me make a difference, none of them possible without PA_Jeronimo, who solely took IL-2's pits into the next decade IMO.

If you find the cockpit canopy imprints too drastic, there are 2 mat files available, one less strong. Those who know how to use mat files can tune strength, colour and saturation of the files to their liking, I recommend to play with them but stick with the defaults.

Impossible to define what looks good on my used monitors over the past months will look good on any of yours as well. Even small changes (gapa, monitor temperature, brightness, contrast) make a big difference from only monitor settings. Same will count for Sweet FX etc.

Next planned the frekking Buffalo if I manage to extract the reflection carrying file and the Thunder Jet mod by PA_Jeronimo, but next week first some work, no time at all.

Cheers

Hello Thorsten, hi Jerohero,

WUNDERBAR!  8)

I love the round balls and the new red switches, the overhaul of the cabin cover...

...thank you very much.

This "P-38 overmodded" runs perfectly and looks great in my 4.10 & DBW.  ;D

Well, few more things. ATM exactly where my rig crashed before, checking the last P-51C minor change.

As for the P-38. Those of you who like a reallife video reference for my reflection canopy imprint "artistic solution" go ahead, pm, I can send you references.  :D
----------

For the P-51C, I truly hope CWatson one day gives these Stangs a bit of his FM magic. So they fly a tad less IL-2 style and more ya know, like the hotrod you would expect.
Hope to upload the P-51C today, only change to the previous edited Freddy version: Slightly (very) edited front and upper front glass and one gauge exchanged.

So, P-51C update.

For those who have the mod from before..
https://www.mediafire.com/file/3o0pe3q44444dd3/2+cockpits+for+P-51A+and+Cs.7z

(updates for A Version: https://www.mediafire.com/file/gvbyziyig1wmyzy/Less+radical+gauge+colours-+for+cockpit+folder+of+choice.rar
https://www.mediafire.com/file/nn4sy20d9tba48i/P-51A+pit+extras+.rar )

..this is the option as update.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/3yzl2wnnnqj36zo/2++%21%21_a_P-51CB_pit.rar

You can choose between the Freddy style manifold/RPM etc gauge and a slightly tinted cromhunt version.
New tinted front center and front upper canopy glass, very subtle reddish.

Anyway, enough primadonna style pit bitching from me, next flying some Mig-21s and F-80s and testing the Flapjack.
Carry on
Cheers

Chaps :D,
here is a fix for the Sabre uploads and the Jet Era pits from previous pages:
The last update, which seemed to have been tested by no one ;D  :(, had an error in it:
The Sabre's cockpits would not show up due to the new red cockpit light mat files pointing to the wrong folder, I fixed that and made them default. :P
Also fixed a 3D issue, where due to the new beautiful PA_Jeronimo mirrors on the HistoMod Sabre version hier.hims some Jet Era features and items missed...only drawback is now you have the old front small default Sabre bug in on the nose.
That is the best compromise doable atm for the jet Era Sabres.
Sorry, for Sabres I am a HistoMod/IES3 man exclusively.

Here the repaired jet Era mod:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/2mjdm1d9jd0peah/Sabre.rar

BTW I need to fix this thread one of these months/years lol, sorry for the bad or rather confusing overview

It looks perfect to my eyes.
Great effects and painting. I think its finished.  8) Congratulations once again!

Time to move on to other aircraft that need some of your special cockpit magic?
Or you going to quit after this last aircraft cockpit?
Many of the other cool airplanes could look amazing with some of your cockpit reflections.

Hello Max, the Sabres were just a repuload, the nice textures are mostly by cromhunt.
My part was positioning on the mirror (atm again WIP  ;), found a cooler size!) and the night gauges as well as a few tint changes and the reflection.
For other pits:
Unfortunately atm I am completely out of inspiration due to RL stress.  :(
But I have one project in mind for the racers if two gents on this forum (boss and da Jero) are willing to cooperate on the more work intense parts aka FM and 3D. o_O

THAT would be my last idea, but I also got the word from another modder to retune the F-80 cockpit for better textures, that would totally rock, yet I did not hear from him in months. :P

In case the P-47s and FW-190s get a 3D magic fix one of these days or within the next years, those would be my dream candidates for a front glass tint.
The funny thing is the P-47s have the perfect FM now thanks to we know whom (SAS~Storebror) and the P-51s by now relatively nice pit choices but still a rather basic FM in my humble opi. Would love to see them early Mustangs A-C one of the years get the full power.

....that is it...
 ;D ;)  :o

P-51Ds.

This is not entirely new, but retuned.
For now only the 4.12.2 P-51d-20(k14) version for the 4.12.2 P-51D-20NA.

As soon as I figure out my old 4.09m UP 2.01 install again, I will add the other versions, except the early P-51D-5NA. That one had the N-9 gunsight and is something for a later attempt maybe.

This here focusses on getting one version airborne, if you want to apply this one to others, here is what you can do:
The following names I have:
P-51d-20(k14)   THIS ONE

...
F-51D-30(K14)
P-51D-25(K14)
P-51D-20NT(K14)
P-51D-30(K14)

If you create folders with these names inside this mod's 3Do/Cockpit folder and copy the files from this upload (Mesh, mat and tgas) in these, you may have your other planes fitted.

The screens do not contain the armor glass and K-14 tex options.
You will find these inside the mod folder.
Also readme and credits there. ;)

Here you go....

https://www.mediafire.com/file/8tadp1l4n659541/P-51Dcockpit+modV2.rar

Credit to cromhunt, PA_Jeronimo, bolox and Freddy/F_Red. :P

Optionally, you can open the following file:
glass.mat

and change its values to
ColorScale 1.0 1.0 1.0 0.45 //0.25
The last number is the saturation, you can play with it, it is for the canopy reflection saturation.

hope you like..

Important: Those who downloaded before 03.00 AM GMT +1, download again, changed the front armor glass tint slightly.

PS:
For the K-14 gunsight: I came across an interisting article, revealing that a field mod focussed on getting this apparture foward in the cockpit by cutting inside the front panel frame to move the K-14 forward, so it was less prone to injure the pilot and be in the way. That of course moved the device further away from the pilot POV...so you can say the smaller K-14 in the stock IL-2 pit is not unrealistic by default.

"..Anyway, according to Bud Anderson, it was common practice, in the field, to remove the K-14 and bracket, and cut into the top center of the instrument panel shroud, by about 3-inches forward, and cut-up and re-fix the gun sight mount, so that the K-14 was now positioned several inches further forward, so that it was no longer so much in the pilot's face..."

Mig-21MF cockpit mod for reflections:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/wh879wv92842fnr/Migs.rar
Not to worry, this comes in 4 versions to chose from, I tested very hard where and how to place the true panorama image correctly on the reflection tex and it turned out to be literally impossible due to the nature given on the file itself.
The only halfway working (as for fit on the 3D canopy model) alternative was placing it in a 45-50 degree offset, everything else looked plain stupid.

Also there is a reason I gave several strengths and options: The nature of the image will prevent the reflection from being different from left to right, which is bearable in so far as the entire front panel and sides will be mirrired on each side, trust me, it was not doable
in another way without going into a new layer or 3D mods.
I very much like the result, especially on the softer versions, but added 2 strong versions and one medium, one of these 4 is with a slightly different modelled area for the reflection.

Maybe in the future more on this mod, I found a funny alternative way of playing with the front panel colours.

If you find a given reflection too heavy, you can open the mat file (glass.mat in the MF cockpit) and change
its saturation value...if you do not know what I am talking about, leave it..;)

Readme inside...
Your chosen version goes into:

For those who have the Corsair pit from page 5, here a very minor update to the Corsair black F4U-1A cockpit. SImply made a different mat file the default for canopy reflection and minor"ly" (aka slightly ;) ) edited the glass.tga.
Plus edited the side strut etc. default colour.

The other options at page 5, and I will try to bring order into this thread these days, hard to organize but doable.

Hi Tom! You do a great work with the cockpit glass. I enjoy it a lot. I would like to ask you to take a closer look at the cockpit of MiG-15/17... When I fly it, I've got a feeling that there is no galss in the cockpit at all :( Maybe you can fix it somehow ;)

I'd like to do it but I lack the 3D "from scratch" skills to finish such a mod aka create a new texture on the 3D model from scratch.
Unfortunately I have not received help here and abandoned the idea.
I would need someone to assign a combined reflection set. The only one who might help me there is a gent who only flies a 4.08 version and thus not a Mig-15/17.  :D
Sorry for that. ;)
If you read around the past pages you find my request for exactly that tex help. :)
