Title: ALL my campaigns - a simple list
Post by: SAS~Poltava on March 05, 2011, 03:09:47 AM
Here you will find a list of my modded campaigns, with download links. Note that there are separate sections for BAT, for other modded 4.12, for modded 4.10, for DBW 1916 and for unmodded 4.13.

This list is a tribute to all the modders who are using their time and talent to give us all the wonderful new material that makes Il-2 1946 to the best combat flight simulator ever! Thanks guys!

PS. Sorry about all this blurry Photobucket sh*t below. I will replace them all eventually, but that takes time ...  :-|

NIGHTFIGHTING CAMPAIGNS:
All these campaigns have been built in DBW/4.10, but might probably in 4.12 work if and only IF you have the proper aircraft installed plus, of course, the revolutionary C&C Mod! As the C&C Mod can be found in BAT I really recommend you to first test these campaigns there: they might work!

The simplest way to have them running is to use the special Nighfighting Mod (DBW/4.10) that I've put together to make it simpler for all you budding nightfighters! That is, if you are still into DBW. See here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2143

MY TWO REALLY BIG CAMPAIGNS FOR MODDED 4.10

These are my two REALLY BIG show-case campaigns for modded DBW/4.10. To make it easy for the user there are Mod Packs that will supply you with all the modded material you need.

For "Years of Triumph" there is the YOT Mod Pack: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2076
For "Courage Alone" there is "IL-2 SCW": http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1581

I've had a number of requests to update them for 4.12, and I will do that, converting them to BAT! But it will take time, so be patient. But as you can see here, YOT for BAT is soon ready:

OTHER CAMPAIGNS FOR MODDED 4.10

I have made a lot of other campaigns with and for DBW (Dark Blue World), the Mod Pack för 4.10. The campaigns all have individual requirements, listed in full in the link.

I hope to update a number of these to 4.12, but again if anyone wants to have update any one of these to, say BAT/WAW - please by my guest! (The only thing I demand is proper credits!)

Note: All my campaigns for the Spanish Civil War have their own category.

1. In the "Read-Me" you can find the requirements of different campaigns. The relations of the requirements to the different MOD packs are always a bit fluid, especially when you have campaigns that were built long before the packs  ;) But if you just check that you have the map specified, and (in some cases) also the aircraft, you should be able to run it. This means that in some cases you will have to do some downloads and installs yourself.

2. Yes, Ashe's old Battle of France map has been used as a base for GilB57's superb Westfront 1944, but those maps by GilB shows the area in 1944, not 1940, so they are not 100% historically compatible, if one says so. (I know because I asked GilB about that.) When GilB's 1940 version comes all is well. But until that happens the historically best map för the Battle of France is Ashe's old map.

3. Yes, I'm still on HSFX 5, but hope to take the DBW plunge eventually.

Playing Desert War at the moment, good campaign. I think I'm finally getting used to flying the Gladiator, especially after just playing 'The Siege of Malta' (by Monty27, another good campaign).
Anyway, got to love Poltava's attention to detail - he even remembered to provide food for the jackals...

The list has been updated, but is still not 100% complete. But I'm getting close to it...  ;)

I eventually want to structure this list a bit better, sorting the campaigns by theme. When I get some spare time, that is.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the appreciation! I can honestly say that my own rig isn't that hot either, and most of my campaign should not be too demanding when it comes to the hardware. My design policy in that respect is quite simple: I leave out all action that you can't actually see (or possibly could see) from your cockpit. Also I keep the amount of FLAK and the movement of ground and sea units down. If it is essential from a mission point of view, it's in, but I'm trying not to overdo those things either. What really counts is the action in the air, right?

Thanks for the appreciation!

really ! I loved your campains of luftwaffe  favorite is Historical Campaigns  totally  top notch and correct. but it seems to me i have a fps issues/many other with the new cup install with unbearable stutters ,  working on it as i cant afford a powerfull rig ,, but as you mention for a aviation lover its all about the flying tactics n action in the air,.......and off course thanks to ww2 sims like IL2 and Campaing builder like you and moders all the team for putting this great sim new shapes  now that we can all just av a bit of virtual taste of the heroes use to sit behind the cockpit , A virtual pilot want is the action in the air absolutely but i just cant have it as it stutters through out the mission and get worse when things gets heat up. well thats some thing with my system issues as i know joy of simulation now a days demands reasonable rigs .
still could be worse :D always looking forward for your Historical campaings especially luftwaffe ones . keep up the great work.

Thanks Butcherbird! If you experience stutters in CUP you could always try DBW 1.71 or even HSFX 7. (It's easy to have multiple IL-2 installs. I think I have 5 or 6 different installs going right now!) You will have MUCH less content, but the FPS will be better. Life is full of compromises  ;)

Hi Poltava!

Could you post a list of your campaigns flyable with HSFX7?

I desperately looking for a classic campaign like in the old standard games, but most of the offered campaigns requires Special game Versions or Mods I don't have (and don't want to install :) )

So, IF you have such campaigns, I'd be pleased to know about and fly them!!

Cheers, Seppel
Title: Re: ALL my campaigns - a simple list
Post by: SAS~Poltava on March 21, 2015, 02:03:10 AM
Seppel,

I'm in the process of converting a number of my older campaigns to 4.12 HSFX 7 standards. You can find them at www.mission4today.com. And more will come!  :)

Thus far I've updated these campaigns in that manner:

Abbeville Boys 1943: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=945
Finnish Front 1941: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=25
Fighter Boys 1940: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=326
Battle for France 1940: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1525

I also think that most of the old campaigns are playable in HSFX 7, as all the older content (aircraft, objects, map etc) in principle is there. A simple trick if you still experience problems is simply to open the missions in FMB, then just save them (no changes), and many glitches will be fixed. But on this not yet updated campaigns you will of course not have any of the 4.12 goodies, like taxi-to-take-off...

Dear Poltava,
I tried your campaign of the D520 on CUP. It doesn't work.
Any idea?
Your campaign with the JU87 is great.
Best regards.

No, not off the top of my head. Perhaps it could be the wrong D520 aircraft? I've built it for Ranwers D520, not Freddys.

There is A LOT of new stuff in CUP and at the same time some stuff has been left out, and between those two parameters a lot of things can of course go wrong. A LOT of campaigns will have to be redone for CUP, and as I haven't got a functional CUP install YET (I will get there, but my current rig is  just too old and sleepy: my CUP FPS are simply way too bad ATM...) I am currently doing the most difficult part: upgrading old campaigns to 4.12 - using HSFX7. From that point to CUP the leap shouldn't be big, I trust.

An old campaign might work in CUP, but then again it might not. In the end rebuilding it all to 4.12 standards with CUP is the only guarantee. And IF someone wants to help out here that person is more than welcome!!!  8)

Dear Poltava,
thank you for your advice, it works with the D520 from Ranwers.
By the way, I tried your version CUP of Abbeville but the text of the briefing doesn't appear beside the map.
What did I do wrong.
Best regards.

Please excuse my ignorance, and lack of patients to search everywhere I have not searched yet. But can someone please let me know where I can find the Fighter Boys version for Dark Blue World (any version not made for 4.12.2)

I cannot get the Full Monty 4.12 working well, and HSFX 7.0 crashes every time I look around with the mouse in or out of the cockpit (EVERY TIME), although I know I did something wrong in these 2 Packs, but DBW 1.71 runs beautifully, Always. I think the version I am looking for is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbAZ1Fs7Ja8&list=PLOcum5Sy0tGZUazbqjsQTnYbPkMNjlsuB (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbAZ1Fs7Ja8&list=PLOcum5Sy0tGZUazbqjsQTnYbPkMNjlsuB)

By the way I recommend anyone to watch Tailmange's IL-2 videos. This particular video, if you watch (or listen) to it for a few minutes he mentions this website.

Thank You.

EDIT: I finally got TFM 4.12 Going, which is good - But when I start your campaign Fighterboys, I see the movie, but I cannot see the mission briefing. I put the folder "Fighterboys" into Campaign/GB without modifying it. So I don't know what to do. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Hi there!

Try and remove the "_ru" from mission filenames. That should give you the briefings back.

I will see if I can fix a D/L for the DBW-version of "Fighter Boys".

All the best

Thank You very much. I will give it a try.

I also think I may get some of your other missions. I have "Battle of Britain 1940 V1.3 DBW", loaded right now, and I think this is one of yours, due to the loading screen. I will stick with this one, because I am having a rough time taxiing to the runway, in the "Fighter Boys". Yeah I am that bad (been about 6 years since I have been on IL-2 1946).

The reason behind my "Battle of Brittan" obsession, is due to a game some might know - "Their Finest Hour" - For the Amiga Back in 1990. I really loved this game.

Thanks again for your reply.
Title: Re: ALL my campaigns - a simple list
Post by: bobrpggamer on August 11, 2015, 04:34:18 PM
That worked!

I found taxiing to the runway best at 45% power. it took a few times to judge the power at first. I found I was going too slow trying to avoid the rough. Doing this seemed to take forever, and I could not catch up with my leader.

So I will more than likely play this campaign first.

Thank You

I have to say it. Nobody else is around other than my cat (and he's far to busy trying to hump my belly to listen) to say it, but on my second try of mission 2 of "the Fighter Boys" (my 3rd real mission so far), I actually shot down 5 BF-110's, landed properly and got a defense medal. I say this because I was incapable of landing back in 2008 when I first got 1946.

I thought I was going to have a heart attack as I was about to land, as I landed on the rough, because smoke was blocking my vision of the runway. Oh and all but complex engine management, icons & views were ticked on so I did not cheat that much. I had some stalls, got lost in clouds, got a fuel leak, overheated my engine many times, blacked out a few times, but did not even use all my ammo.

Thank you for the time and effort you put into your missions. So far I have about 8 of them.

Oh, and I promise I won't hijack this thread again.

That is impressive! Surpasses my own achievements by far. But I can recognize the emotion when you are doing your final approach at the end of a successful mission, your crate is badly shot up, everything is wobbling and you  really want to come down in one piece...   ;)

I'm glad you are enjoying the campaign! :-)

Hi Poltava, I saw that you did a lot of missions with P-36 for France and Finland, they're really beautiful. But I wanted to say that the P-36 was the only American aircraft, the P-36 exported were called Hawk-75. So I guess if you have to do missions with P-36/Hawk-75 for France and Finland it is more correct to use the Hawk-75A3 and Hawk-75A4, especially because it changes the armament, for example, the Finns have installed 12.7mm on their Hawk-75A3.

sorry for my english

Title: Re: ALL my campaigns - a simple list
Post by: SAS~Poltava on February 13, 2016, 03:33:37 PM
I have started to sift through my backlist of campaign, trying to sort them into different categories, to see what can be done with them when it comes to updating. Because even though the game is getting older, it is also, paradoxically enough, getting better and better, not least when it comes to content.

In doing this I look upon 4 "Only's" that I really try to follow now when I build campaigns:

•   Only historical maps, portraying the actual terrain over which the aerial campaign  was fought in real life – no stand-in maps.
•   Only historical aircraft, that participated in the actual aerial campaign – no skin-hacks.
•   Only historical skins, showing actual camouflage and markings.
•   Only historical front-lines – what happens on the ground and/or is mentioned in the briefings follows what actually happened then and there.

With this in mind a couple of campaigns are just irrepairably obsolete, and will be left behind. (Like my campaign for the Battle of Brunete. Or large parts of my big JAAF series "Raging Eagles".) And that's those that rely on a non-historical maps. Perhaps the briefing can be salvaged. That's just about it.

But most (for instance those that use "skin-hacks") just calls out for tender and loving updates. Using a number of available mod system. Not least because the scope of this game and the number of available aircraft has grown in a most wonderful way. Almost all operational WW2 aircraft can now be found in modded IL-2. As I see it the game is now at it's zenith, content-wise, and I think it would be a shame to give up on it and on these old campaigns, but give them the chance to realise their full potential. Which wasn't possible before, because of the simple limitations of the old game. We will probably never see a flight combat sim with this HUGE range of content again.)

I am still very partial to DBW 1.71, and some campaigns will enjoy the best that can be offered through that mod system. Some are simply too large to be lifted over to 4.12, like "Years of Triumph" or "Courage Alone". At least I feel terribly daunted by the task. All my Nightfighting campaigns will be updated to make full use of the "Nachtjagd Mod Pack". (More info on that mod pack here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2143) And all my campaigns connected to the 30-ies will be updated to make full use of the "IL-2 SCW".

Finally: the best ones will be ported over to 4.12. That is an important point for me, and that work has already been started, and it will continue. But that updating is the most time-consuming by far. Right now I am doing this 4.12 updating with HSFX 7, but when I eventually get CUP going I hope to use that system.

So, yes, you can expect to see a fair number of updates in the future, leading to the eradication of limitations or errors, big or small, and hopefully resulting in what I hope to be final versions of many of the campaigns listed in post 1. (The links will continue to be valid, by the way.)

Thanks for looking  :)

Battle for Berlin (Ju-88 G6):
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=437

The work continues  :) As I said before: IL-2 is now at it's peak, content-wise, and I think it would be a shame to give up on it and on these old campaigns. Instead I want to try and realise the full potential of these campaigns - which wasn't possible before, because of the given limitations of the old versions of the game.

Hi Peter
I can´t open France40 campagnes...
I play DBW 1.71 with PAL Missionpro and other mods ( for examole TFM and other )
If I delete PalMissionpro I can see the maps and text , but the game starting without normal textures.
Do you know this situation ?
Can I play your mission only on vanilla version of DBW ?

PS I have completed the YOT

Due to Photobuckets new (and really exorbitant) posting plans, all pics have gone AWOL. And so the initial list is impossible to navigate through.

Use this link as a temporary measure, it will give you a list of ALL my campaigns:

I have started sorting all my campaigns according to which Mod they are running under. And I'm of course putting the most updated campaigns first, i.e. those meant for modded 4.12.

Mind you, there might still be difficulties, especially with BAT. But if you run into problems, just PM me, and I will see what I can do! I will try and update as many campaigns as humanly possible to 4.12, but with so many campaigns it is a long grind ...  8)

Anyone that want to port campaign to BAT, please be my guest, as long as proper credits are given  :)

Two types of error can occur:

1- A "normal" skin for a modded A6M Zero, or...

2- A "modded" skin for a "normal" Zero.

I will try and do that, when I find time!

Hi Poltava I enjoyed Darwin Defenders x dbw you reuploaded for me, so thank you for a great campaign

now i would like to change to Eto and I would like to play one of those (better to say one after the other or in parallel  :)) ... always in my favourite DBW

so may I ask you if you can reupload the 4.10 version of them ?

I would appreciate very much

thank you for your time

these are the campaigns i would appreciate to try in 4.10-DBW, two ETO and two PTO:
Fighter Boys - Defending Britain in 1940
Storm over England - Fly as a German 109 pilot against Britain!
Fire over Darwin - The JNAF attacks Australia in 1942
Days of the Demon - Fly the Ki-44 "Shoki" in defence of Japan!

I have not yet found them in this format, but I hope to find them on some old backup - so hang in there!

Also: from now on, when I update 4.10 campaigns to the 4.12 format I will try and include the old 4.10 version in the download.

I am myself switching over to BAT (update 3.6 is really great) I have now started a special BAT section in the campaign list. This will be updated with new, converted campaigns as soon as they are ready.  :)

Best news of the day 8)

It will be a pleasure to revisit your campaigns in BAT. You can perhaps enhance some aspects now that BAT version 3.6 runs as good as a bare bones stock install.

Thanks Poltava!

but one question: why do you write "BAT 4.12"? This can be confusing  -  I know what you want to say but others might start looking for a BAT 4.12, which they will never find....

To be honest I had some reservations earlier, regarding the FPS performance of BAT, but it surely looks af these limitations are gone now in 3.6! Hence my enthusiasm!  ;D

Hi poltava, I tried to start your abeville boys campaign in VP, the planes exploded in their starting postion? I had to delete the _ru to get the briefings. Any idea why they are blowing up? This is stock 4.12 with VP.

Ok so the planes that are spawning under tents are blowing up, I moved a few in the mission editor, but nobody else starts their engines, they just sit in their hangars, this campaigns pretty broken, or I am an idiot, or both.

Hi Jon,

As you can see the campaign has been built for HSFX, and the tent problem is known to occur in BAT.  But I hope to update the campaign to BAT pretty soon, and then those snags will be gone.

Until then: try another campaign! 👍

I was running it in VP modpack for 4.12. Is HSFX required and can be used along side VP?

I shall try some others, the campaign looked a ton of fun though, intro videos? Was blown away!

They are sorted after the different systems (BAT, 4.12 HSFX/VP, different types of 4.10). When you clink on the link you will be taken to the D/L page at mission4today. There you will find the EXACT requirements!

Patience I do not have, for we are all dying.  :-|

I will install hsfx and give it a try. Just seems like for BAT at the moment, we have a bunch of campaigns, but they are all for obscure aircraft and theaters of war. Stuff I am not really interested in. Which is a shame for now, since BAT has the best feeling of flight in any of the mods.

There will be more and more conversions to BAT, trust me. But I don’t want to do a shoddy job, and I also wants to add many of the new features and aircraft that comes with BAT.

And yes, ”Abbeville Boys” is in the BAT pipeline!  ;)

PS. With the download comes a version for CUP, the predecessor of BAT. You could try that one. It might be ok in BAT.

Many thanks SAS_Poltava, exc work!, appreciate all your efforts, especially now updating your older campaigns! I have a question on this campaign (before I make a thread in the BAT tech section), everything loads works fine w/the exception that the cockpit view shows an error, (see attached screenshot), almost like another small windscreen outside and the gunsight shows no reticle unless you "pan" down, the screenshot shows just the base of the reticle on the glass and that was after "looking down in the cockpit" on regular straight ahead setting the reticle doesn't show at all, I have a highly modded BAT3.6.1, completely stock BAT3.6.1 and it has this problem in both games, it also shows however you load the B239 even in QMB, the B339 & F2A on the other hand are fine. I'm thinking this is a BAT problem w/this particular plane but wanted to see if you see this problem before I make a tech thread?

As beeing a long timer (since 2001) I´m used to Olegs "two weeks" so I wont be impatient if it takes time to complete, I´m only asking if you intend to do it. Love your campaigns, by the way!

FlyingH! Just a week ago I would say that updating "Years of Triumph" to BAT standards would be an impossible undertaking - too much work and time involved. But now I have found a partner willing to lend a hand in this, so, YES, "YOT" just might get updated into the BAT universe! Keep your fingers crossed. I will know more in a month or so.  ;)

(But if that happens we will need play-testers...)

Stan, that is great news! And I think it means that the chances of seeing ”Years of Triumph” in the BAT universe took yet another step forward. You see, Willyp is working on YOT as well. I will see to it that you guys get in touch, so you can coordinate your efforts. And I will do what I can to help and assist. Of course I want you to send me the completed segments!

Does your efforts also include addition of taxi-to-takeoff and extra detailing of the starting points of the aircraft?

All the best

If we get there (and I think the chances suddenly increased a lot when both Willyp and Flying H volunteered to help) you will be our trusted, official playtester. Hopefully you won’t have too much to do, as the action in the air will be the same, but an extra pair of experienced hands is always welcome in huge projects like these! Thanks for your kind offer!

Hi Poltava,
I like your unmodded "Vampires of Guadalcanal" campaign. Unfortunately this camapaign is for stock game 4.13 and therefore not compatible with modded 4.12.2 versions like the BAT mod pack or the VP mod pack. I prefer playing stock campaigns in the VP mod pack due to the largely improved graphics and textures compared to the stock game, since the VPmod is allmost 100% compatible with all stock campaigns.
Therefore my question: there existed a 4.11 precursor of the current campaign. Since the update to the 4.13 version the older one is not available anymore on M4T. Is it possible to post this older version too here in the forum or at M4T in order to be playable in the 4.12.2 modded versions of the game? Would be nice, even though there might appear some non historic planes in the missions....

Poltava,

I just got through your outstanding "Darwin  Defenders" campaign in VPmod. Now I am interested in doing so with the Japanese counterpart "Fire over Darwin". Following the campaign list at the beginning of this discussion (first post) the "Fire over Darwin" campaign should be updated to version 4.12. When I download it from M4T there is only included an old version requiring the AAA mod (following the readme.text) or for 4.09 mod (description in M4T). Are these descriptions correct? Or are the texts not updated and the included mission is for 4.12 (HSFX, VP?). If not: where can I download the 4.12 version?

No, sorry, that was me marking it wrong.  :-| The "Fire over Darwin" campaign is still only available in 4.10 (I have corrected this.)

Good whatever time it is where you are.
Ok, head above parapet time.
I would like to play Years of Triumph AGAIN. This time , completing it.  problems and CTD's towards middle of campaign. That was the original campaign -80 missions.
A new PC build and a major update, overhaul of my DBW install were cause of loss of mission progress.
Now I know what your gonna say...Use the  YOT MODPACK on a new vanilla install  over a  4.10.1 build.
But, as I got all the mods and aircraft etc still in #DBW from the original, plus extras required by the YOT v2.2 MODPACK, I would just like it if someone could link me to the .mis, .properties files of the newer YOT v2.2 pack -103 missions.
I've looked in the download of YOT v2.2 after extracting it with 7zip, and I cant see any "mission" folder to go into DE. I'll guess that it'll only appear after jsgme has worked its business.
Is there anyway to get these missions please.
Be safe.

Seems that the downloaded files from the Mission4today d/L link are incomplete or corrupted. There's no jsgmemod folder or Jsgme. exe created when you extract using 7zip as per info provided on read me . Definitely no. mis or. properties files anyhere.

Good day Gentlemen,
I already made a post in tech section, but i think i should better try it here.
Years ago i played the "Years of Triumph" campaign, i think it was for 4.09 or maybe 4.10 DBW and this was one of the best static campaigns around .
Since i bought a new laptop recently, my Il-2 passion has rekindled and i' m eagerly trying to find campaigns for 4.12 with vp-media modpack.
So, i' m searching for the 2.0 version of Poltava's classic "YOT" campaign, (the last version BEFORE BAT conversion),  if someone knows of a link i'd be immensely grateful...
