Title: Riken's 110B4 wip, also somewhat improved
Post by: ANDYTOTHED on May 24, 2012, 05:56:10 PM
After noticing Riken's mod adoptions, I quickly snapped up the 110B4 he had there. Upon testing it I found a couple of things that have now been rectified with this mod
1. Cockpit is fixed, it shouldn't hang your game
2. FM has been reworked (I changed the engines to Jumo 610s, like on the actual aircraft)

Hi Andy,

B-4 just testet. B&Twheelfix from C-1 renamed in B-4... it works.

The B-4 Cockpit looks wonderful.

The B-4 FM works not perfekt! After landing no right parking possible!?

Regards and a big thank you very much,

Gerhard

Tried this and noticed that if you start out on a scramble and put it on auto pilot it cant take off. Which means the ai wont be able to take off much like the PBY's. AI wont let them take off because AI wont cant use wep.

Thank you very much to you and Riken for this early 110!  Interesting plane  :)

ps
I realized that couldn't see props when engines are on, so I copied "propellor_early.tga" to a "Textures" folder I created in "Plane" and then I changed the entry in "Propellor.mat" , under [Layer0] section, from "TextureName ..\Textures\propellor.tga" to "TextureName ..\Textures\propellor_early.tga"  and it made the trick

If you use multi throttle or are adept at switching between engines, you can turn right
Also The AI can't get off the ground because the plane is too heavy for just 100% power.

No multithrottle in use (only MS Sidewinder FFB2)! No chance to change motor!

If i'm perfectly honest, I did this to learn makeshift FMs
I'm going to change the weights now so that the AI can take off.

well adjusting the FMs has had the effect of allowing them to take off (after an obscenely long time)
while causing the player aircraft to spin out of control on attempt to take off. The engines have too much torque!

Sorry, but what I read in the books the Bf 110Bs had a 3-blade propeller (and a different cowling of course). The Bf 110A had a two blade prop. similar to what we see in the model. I found a link, please see the pics:

the diagram shows that it has a two blade prop. This is likely the diagram that Riken used for reference.
I will concede though, there are pics on that site that seem to show a 3 blade airscrew.
Also, thanks for that site, I had always wondered if the BF-110G4 had flensburg. Now I need to go scavenge flensburg antennas off of somebody eleses mod.

Welcome. I 've seen also in other websites

http://forum-na.worldofwarplanes.com/index.php?/topic/1735-german-heavy-fighters/

that in the Bf 110B had a 3 blade prop. And in books, like Bf 110 IN ACTION I noticed that the Bf 110Bs have 3-blade props. I take it as a fact.

Great work Andy! I started this project on a quick snap and only tested it once. I set it aside because the problem I found in this one, I had in another mod of mine and fixed the problem in both.... unfortunately... I forgot about this one and it's problems that needed attention.

Keep up the good work! It's awsome that someone picked up on these planes. I was hoping someone would :D

I will never understand the cause of this problem: impossible to take off, the plane turns on itself.
The IA departed through and will hit the hangars...
Even putting the engines DB601-110...
So I guess the culprit is the fmd?

yup, not sure what at the moment, even using the left side engine only causes it to spin like a top... to the right.

woops sorry, I meant left  :-[.
Oh well either way, reducing weight by 500KG only caused engine torque to tun it into a helicopter!

you win.

Most people think that Bf 110Bs had two blade propellers because of the Bf 109B/C/Ds. But this is hardly suprising, considering that the Bf 110 was in that particular timeframe the most high-tech german warplane and was considered the most deadly aerial weapon Germany had in service. So it had to take the most up-to-date equipment. In a test-dogfight between Wurster and Udet in 27 August 1936, the -109 (presumably a B series) "could fly a turn as tight as the 109".
This superiority of Bf 110 was maintained until the balanced started to swift over the single engined Bf 109 with the -E series.

Nevertheless an hypotetic "B-1" (or even "A") version, 2 bladed and with 109B cowling, can be an interesting what-if for 1937/38 operations.. :D

This doesnt sound like a bad idea. Boy do I need to get my other pc fixed up. If no one else does it, I'll take a crack at it when i order my parts

Hello, gentlemen!
Has the motor torque and spin problem been solved?
Is there a version of this mod with fix?
thank you

Have read on the other forum that the problem with this plane has something to do with hooks. Someone might look into it
