Post by: EL3M3NTAL720 on January 10, 2019, 06:27:32 PM
i haven't really seen any radar guided A2A missiles in BAT. am i missing anything. the only one i've seen is the R-55, and it's vast inferior to the AIM-120 in BAT.

KA-50, KA-52, L-39, L-139, L-159, Mi-24 and many jets etc. carry modern (AA-8, AA-11) infrared missiles,
MiG-23 and Su-11 carry radar guided missiles like AA-3 and AA-7.

We do have an AA-10 ready but no carrier for it in BAT yet AFAIR.
AA-9/12/13 are not available yet.

Is there an R-77 in there as well, i know there isn't a carrier, but i hope to see one like an Su-27 or Mig-29 in the near future.

Well maybe Mike if you used the Russian names, there would be less confusion :))

In theory you can strap R-27 and R-73 to MiG-23MLD (that was the whole point of the MLD program). There used to be a MiG-29 wip, but... it was long time ago and really basic. Eric talked about wanting to make an Su-27 and 33, but well... he's practically gone.

Also, as of now, guidance method does not really matter - missile employment is modelled extremely simplified - and radar guidance is practically not modelled at all. Everything is working in boresight mode, and not even that is done properly yet... although I was working on a (simplified) improvement, it still requires modifying western's enginemod-mod; I'll release it once I figure how to make it independent. :-X

Agreed.

And also about text displays in IL-2 1946 loadout menu,
"R-" number and "K-" number + a few "RS-" number are mixed ..... increasing confusion.
Missile / RocketGun classfile names might be standard in only "R-" number, though.

With all due respect: Someone who doesn't even get the DoD numbering system isn't anyone I'm going to talk to about missiles anyway.

standard in only "R-" number
What sounds like a good idea unfortunately falls short if you just look at what R-27 could mean.
Hint: R-27R, R-27T, R-27ER, R-27ET, R-27P, R-27EP and R-27EA might be of the same family.
But what about R-27U and R-27K?
And what about just "R-27"? By that name only, it'd be of the U/K family.
Just saying...

sorry they intrude but maybe they could get me out of a doubt, looking for a missile similar to the Exocet, we found a Russian, (I do not remember which) that was very similar in its trajectory and detachment from the plane but does not work in online mode, this Is it solvable? Greetings to all

I'd recommend to open an own thread for this completely unrelated question.
