BUT several questions..

1.  I actually can find the 4.12.2 mega download patch for the actual game...

              I see forum tags for game patch 4.13/4.14/4.15     How do i find those patches, or are they actually necessary?

2. some of the BAT updates in that list mention NEEDING to have other things installed before installing them. Is that still a need?  Something call UF4P?

3. Do i need to install every update patch for each version of BAT before loading the next one?  IE  download BAT 4.0 then the linked update patches, then download BAT 4.1 then the linked update patches and so on. Or can i simply sit back, download BAT 4.0, then simply download the others in numerical order?

4.  Where are the MOD ACT program DOWN LOAD  links?   Everything says i need to get a MOD ACT installed before installing the BAT files,, so how do i do that

1.) You found the Megapatch or not?

What you need first is a vanille (mod-free) install IL-2 4.07!

You want B.A.T. to install? If yes:

Forget the 4.13, 4.14. 4.15, you don't need this crap (my honestly opinion)!

Do you mean maybe UP4? I don't know what UF4P is.

What is the current install sequence for BAT:

Exactly as you listed it in your request.

You start with IL-2 4.07, then install the 4.12 megapatch over it, start IL-2 and test if it runs.

When 4.12 starts it goes with B.A.T. 4.0 Red Core further.

(Red Core alone is so powerful, you don't necessarily need more!)

And then on and on...

After completing the entire B.A.T. first do not install any other mods!

I strongly recommend:

First test your new game extensively, unbelievable possibilities are already available to you here!

As already described above: Do you have B.A.T. fully installed you don't need anything else!

If there are any: yes

But from experience I can tell you here, if you skip something and only install it later, the game will work without problems when you start it again - don't panic.

No, you do not have to. The patches fix minor bugs and/or add some additional mods or improvements.

But your B.A.T. will work fine even without the patches!

I will answer this directly, since what you got as reply may be confusing and is in fact sometimes misleading already.

No. Don't do that under any circumstance. Stock game 4.12 is the base. No higher base game patches are supported.

It is not stated in the install instructions for BAT, is it? So doubly no.

If something is not explicitly mentioned, you do not have to install it. Period.
It may be even detrimental if you do it anyway.

Yes, the updates come in a sequence which has to be kept. (4.2.2 after 4.2.1 after 4.2.... logical, right?)
But the sequence is kept simple and straight forward.

Where did you read that? No such thing as an unknown item like "UF4P" is needed. No idea where you think you saw that. Please, be precise when quoting such stuff.

If you really mean UP4, that is something else entirely and has nothing to do with BAT. You would not have seen it anywhere near BAT or a BAT install instruction though.

I think you are confusing a few things. It is simply the numerical order, as said above.

You mean the hotfix? (it is just 1 (one) - singular - hotfix)
Yes, absolutely. It fixes important things, as the name says. So there is no sane reason to leave it out.

And, quite important, after every installation4.07, 4.12, BAT 4.0, and so on, start the game and test a quick mission. This will show if you got it right. If you have any problems return here with you log. lst (the last 20 - 30 lines) to get help to rectify the hickup.

I'm just curious as to why the latest official update 4.15.1 is referred to as "TD's dreaded patch" in the current version of IL-2 Selector? 

Wouldn't the update to Java 8 make a difference in the game's performance?  I haven't been able to check this myself since my stock 4.15.1 installation refuses to load in Windows 11, despite having tried all the combinations of dsound.dll available.

For the time being the update to Java 8 is  not providing much improvement and you can also find it in the latest patch of UP3.4.

Said this if the attitude of TD towards the mod community would have been more cooperative (to be nice) we could have made substantial improvements to the SIM instead of at each time wasting energies and resources to catch up, adapt  and overcome all sort of obstacles and hiccups disseminated in the patches
