Battle of Guilin-Liuzhou
A Dynamic Campaign for DCG and BAT

China, 1944.

The battle of Guilin-Liuzhou was the third part of the three-part Battle of Henan-Hunan-Guangxi, also known as Operation Ichigo. As part of the operation, a major aim of this attack was to connect the pieces of Japanese-held territory, and also, to destroy airbases in the area which were housing USAAF aircraft.

After battles in Hunan and Guangdong, the 11th and 23rd Armies of the IJA launched attacks towards Guilin and Liuzhou. The NRA troops defending the area were mainly the remnants from the Battle of Hengyang, and therefore, only 20,000 troops were at Guilin on 1 November when the Japanese started their attack on the city.

You can fly this campaign as:

USAAF Flying Tiger Pilot:
-   Curtiss P-40M
-   Curtiss P-40K
-   Curtiss P-40E

USAAF Chinese-American Composite Wing Pilot:
-   Curtiss P-40N
-   Curtiss P-40K
-   North American B-25H Mitchell

USAAF XX Bomber Command Pilot:

-   Boeing B-29 Superfortress

USAAF Transport Pilot
-   Douglas C-47A Skytrain

IJA Fighter Pilot:

-   Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate
-   Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki
-   Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa
-   Nakajima Ki-43-II Kai Hayabusa

IJA Bomber Pilot:
-   Mitsubishi Ki-21
-   Kawasaki Ki-48-II Sokei
-   Kawasaki Ki-48-IIb Sokei

IJA Recon Pilot:
-   Mitsubishi Ki-15 Karigane

IJA Transport Pilot:
-   Showa/Nakajima L2D

Note that there are no airfields on map big enough for B-29s, so they are placed on offmap airfields. Therefore they will always start in air.  That is also historical as XX Bomber Command was based on different airfields around Chengdu about 1,000 km west from the edge of the map.

Requirements:

B.A.T. v4.2.1
DCG 3.50 beta  (https://forum.jg1.org/forum/68-dcg-announcements/)

Installation:

Decompress the Guilin-Liuzhou.rar into your DCG home directory.
Make a backup of the DGEN directory in you IL-2 game directory
Copy Dgen & Paintschemes folders from your Guilin-Liuzhou folder and paste them in your IL-2 game directory. Overwrite if prompted.
Start DCG, select Optional Third Party Data Folder.
Navigate to the Guilin-Liuzhou folder and select allcampaigns.dcg
Select "Replace Career Generator (DGen)" in the DCG main screen.
Select Off Line Career (Full Auto-Generation Mode) in the DCG main screen.
Launch Il-2 WAW module and select one of the above-mentioned careers.

Recommended DCG Settings:

Air Starts: On
Delayed Start Times: On
Historical Production Dates: Off

Note:

There is an error that sometimes happens if BAT has too many skin folders for DCG to handle. DCG has a weird way of regocnizing aircraft by its skin folder and it was created a long time ago when number of aircraft was significantly smaller than today. The error should have been corrected, but it still pops up every once in the while preventing the campaign from launching.

However, there is a walkaround. Go to PaintSchemes and rename Skins folder (eg. Skins_Backup). Then copy the Skins folder from this package to the PaintSchemes. Later on if you need skin folder for another aircraft you can copy it from Skins_Backup to Skins, or if you install another DCG campaign you can install the skins from the campaign.

Credits and thanks:

SAS team for BAT
Paul Lowengrin for DCG
Tailspin and Lonestar for DCG tutorials that got me started creating DCG campaigns a long time ago
All skin artist involved (sorry, I don't know who you are).

I have learned a lot History during the building of campaigns! That was a good side effect when you replay History! Was much more interesting as the History Hours at school!
Sometimes I think the world is constantly in a world war...

Thanks Shakaali!  ;)

Thanks, Lonestar.

That is so true. The funniest, but also the most time-consuming part of.creating a campaign is the background search. Every campaign I make teaches me a lot.

when I try to create a campaign for usaf all I get is aa choice for "player defined" campaign.  not a separate choice for bomber or fighter pilot or chinese wing fighter pilot.   Starting the campaign results in all planes blowing up immediately.
If I go to IJA and try to create a campaign I DO get a separate choice for fighter, bomber, recon, and transport but all planes blow up starting the mission.

Any idea of what is the problem.

Are you sure you installed the campaign correctly:

Make a backup of the DGEN directory in you IL-2 game directory
Copy Dgen & Paintschemes folders from your Guilin-Liuzhou folder and paste them in your IL-2 game directory. Overwrite if prompted.

fyi... the same thing happens when I try to create and run a "battle of france"  dcg campaign.   the airplane blows up as soon as the mission starts.     in fact all dcg campaigns do this.  the airplane blows up as soon as the mission starts.    so maybe its a dcg thing that im not aware of.

the airplane blows up as soon as the mission starts.     in fact all dcg campaigns do this.  the airplane blows up as soon as the mission starts.

Probably due to an incorrect payloads.dcg file.

Installation:
Start DCG, select Optional Third Party Data Folder.
Navigate to the Guilin-Liuzhou folder and select allcampaigns.dcg

This part makes sure you are using the correct files for the campaign in question.

It's nice to see the Hengyang map and the history of the war in this region getting some attention.  This is what it was created for.

You leave the whole thing in the named campaign folder on its own (Battle of Guilin-Liuzhou), I drop these campaign folders in my il2dcg folder then I drop copies of degen and paintschemes folders of the specific campaign in the main il2 folder and overwrite, then start il2dcg and point it to the camaign folder your going to play, in this case, this one in question and start from there within the il2dcg program.

Hi_Witchy;

I think I got it. It has also a step by step instructions here in this link:https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=20872.0

here's my in-game pic:
https://ibb.co/xmcW5pD

Thanks for the info very much appreciated. ]salut[

but .. I have this pink plane explosion, sorry if this is not the proper thread to place this problem..
here's my loglist:
https://pastebin.com/npB9NAT9

explosion with the pink aircraft pic:
https://ibb.co/FqyjtrT
** :-[**
[I'm new for pastebins to be inserted on this site but rather on there site]

///Supplemental edit:
I got it working now using DCG application running from menu under 'Run' then 'Run Game', so the P-40 has a 500kg bomb from Kweilin to bomb enemy at Changsha but if I run from Il2 '46 direct either it explodes or the P-40 has no bomb option.
For the Bomber command [b-29] both coming from DCG app and from il2'46 direct, the plane has a default weapon so I choose randomly chose 4x500kg bomb and on both paths got an explosion on its pink plane.
