Bloody Biscay: Flying the Ju88C - for BAT!
« on: April 17, 2020, 02:11:45 PM »

This is one of my personal favourites, and now this one too has been converted to BAT:

This is a semi-historical, 16-mission static campaign, set in the second half of 1942, portraying the fighting over the Bay of Biscay. You will be flying first the Blohm & Voss BV-138 Float plane (first campaign featuring this aircraft, I think!) and then the Junkers 88 C6 heavy long-range fighter. Most missions are based on history, although dates and exact composition of the participating forces vary somewhat. (Like in reality you will hunt down the civilian transport with the famous actor Leslie Howard, ambush P-38’s en route to Tunisia, intercept USAAF B-17 returning from a big raid on S:t Nazaire, fight it out time and again with Beaufighters, Wellingtons and Sunderlands etc.)

Download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1117

Note that there is a random element to all patrol missions. Not all patrols will result in contact – as in real life – and exactly what you will meet will vary. So even if you replay the campaign the missions will not be exactly the same. Many missions will feature "Dynamic Weather (part of the C&C Mod). This will shift the weather in linear increments during a mission. Weather will start at whatever the mission setting is, but then has a chance to either improve, worsen, or stay the same. A GREAT feature!

Also, courtesy of the great C&C Mod, in all missions you will have an active crew to help you out! You will have a Navigator (now and then giving you a map position fix), a Gunner (that will call out enemy aircraft, when he sees them) and a Spotter (calling out sightings of enemy ships). All these you will see as text messages across the screen.

Once again Edc1 has done all the heavy lifting - thanks Stan!

Here are some shiny screenies:

The main source for this campaign is “Bloody Biscay – The History of V Gruppe / Kampfgeschwader 40” by Chris Gross. A balanced, well-researched book for anyone interested in WW2 Aerial history. Highly recommended!

Thanks for looking!  :)

Yes indeed. 👍 In this context the Ju88C was not cannon-fodder, but quite deadly.

Historical background and C&C.
Twin-engine fighter and a flying boat.
Ocean... "In heaven, all they talk about is the ocean".

This campaign has all elements right. I did not download it yet, but I love it already.
