BAT 3.8 PEGASUS

The PEGASUS flies!

Welcome to the newest iteration of B.A.T. which again brings together a great collection of awesome mods in one big package for every mission- or campaign maker to use.

The amount of new content produced these days is a strong beat to follow. It is literally impossible to include each and every mod, but we do our best to have a plausible collection that make real sense. Sometimes it appears as if a PEGASUS is the only flying thing missing in the sim.... and then comes a modder with yet something else we haven't thought would every fly in Il-2. You never cease to surprise.

But B.A.T. is not just about the new content. It is about integration and about fixes and patches which I think are just as important but sometimes work best when nobody notices they are there - that means, there's no bug to notice.

This time, a particularly high number of cockpits have been fixed, updated or modernised. Sometimes the changes are small, minor bug fixes, some graphic touch ups here and there, a slight position fix... but sometimes they completely change the game - see below for details, particularly the JTW section.

Is everything fixed you ask? Hell no, but it's the best there is.

FAQ:

Is everything fixed now?
Is it ever? BAT 3.8 PEGASUS incorporates all previous quickfixes and many new fixes and updates.
Do I need to install all the other Expansions to this point?
Yes. You need to have version B.A.T. 3.7 Le Grande Cirque for installation.
Always use the exe installer!

What's new?
Come and see, here's the tour...

- Moving infantry

The guys explode upon death. I don't know if this was intentional or I am missing something but: this is precisely what I wanted to achieve! Just place a few guys here and there and the battlefront comes to live: cross-fire, explosions, smoke, death... Welcome to the Battlefront!

Some additional high detail human figures to populate scenes, imported by Dimon

... I see flat people....

A new class of humans to populate screenshots or the side of a runway!
Inspired and in parts provided by Stiv who sent me this a long time ago. These are simply flat two dimensional graphics but they can be implemented with great effect in sceneries and screenshots. Finally I got around to implement them and expand them with some content of my own choosing.

Quote
Angela, jinx and Marilyn are borrowed from the great works of Romain Hugault.

New interesting objects provided in Russian object pack I also got from Stiv.
River boats, piers, a nice carriage and some wood and floats.

Dynamic Light Mod by stuka_40 brings a great new opportunity to make airfields or towns in the dark or semi-darkness much more livelier.
It's an old mod from 2010, which was brought to our attention again and it's worth it!

All of this can be used in the freshly upgraded Full Mission Builder:

MissionProCombo PLUS v1.6 by Whistler

Code: [Select]
################################################################################
 CHANGELOG (v1.6)
################################################################################
Many little changes here and there, as usual. Only the main features are listed below.

  FULL MISSION BUILDER
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Mission Description window: restored "select on focus" in the Missions Name field.
  MISSION BRIEFINGS (OFFLINE)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Elements re-positioned to make best use of space. Some dropdowns enlarged.

- Reset button removed from campaigns. I found a mishap in the original Mission Pro Combo and
  the assumption is that the reset button was not meant to be shown during campaigns, just
  like with the FMB and Save buttons. Go back to the Main Menu and start over to reset a
  mission during a campaign. My advise? Don't change anything when playing campaigns.

- Player/Mission skin toggle removed. Skin selection is available again in Single Mission mode.
  The skin selection code was reviewed and implemented in a different (hopefuly better) way.
  The word "Markings" will be displayed besides the skin name (*) whenever markings/decals are
  enabled for the aircraft selected. Markings is a per-aircraft setting.

  (*) The "Markings" word will not be displayed when you select the skin that is already
  selected. The game does not notify back inconsequential changes and I couldn't find a
  workaround. It is just a little visual issue that should rarely happen.

################################################################################
 CHANGELOG (v1.5)
################################################################################

  FULL MISSION BUILDER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Object window: Next and Previous object buttons
THE GOLDEN AGE
DC-2
The predecessor of the more famed DC-3 was a ground-breaking development. Most notable is the runner-up of the 1934 McRobertson Air Race, the KLM airliner “Uiver” who achieved the second place with regular load and passengers, only behind the DeHavilland Comet (also available in TGA module!)
Fw-56A
The Stösser was mainly used as an advanced fighter trainer for the infant Luftwaffe of 1934. It was often depicted in propaganda adverts for the Luftwaffe. However, its competitive performance made it a bit of an export success in a fighter role: Austria, Bolivia, Hungary, Spain were among the customers
WORLD AT WAR
Dimon and friends, in conjunction with Team IES have produced a great lineup of new mods!
Avro York C.I.
Introduced in 1944, the York was to be a mainstay of the British airlift squadrons well into the 1960s
DH.86 'Express'
Looking a bit like a blown up Dragon Rapide, the Express is … well, basically that. It combined all the well known virtues of DeHavilland’s designs and was the fastest British airliner at the time.
Do-26C
Another beautiful Dornier flying boat to roam lL-2 maps
The P-43A Lancer, predecessor of the Thunderbolt, is taking off in Il-2!
Martin Maryland
The Martin 167 may not have won the USAAF contract but it served in the RAF and the French Armee de l’air, mainly in North Africa. Stefan_SG provided a bomb sight for this one!
Yokosuka E14Y
G10N1 Fugaku
One big-ass bird takes to the air in Pacific ’46. The game engine had to be adapted to support this behemoth, a truly great effort by all involved!
The project for a huge intercontinental bomber started in 1942 as “Project Z” – what already sounds like an insane paper plane project, actually was just that. Problems with the projected engines led to the cancellation of the project in 1944.
Spiteful Mk.XIV
Another fancy addition to the What-if RAF ’46 squadrons…
In an attempt to improve the Sptfire, Supermarine developed the “Spiteful”. However, it wasn’t that much of an improvement over the very late Spitfire versions and only 22 units were built in 1945. It already was the dawn of the jet powered fighters.
Ryan FR-1 Fireball
The Oddball. When unreliable and clumsy jet engines were considered impractical for carrier operations, this hybrid concept marked a strange intermediate step. Its introduction fell together with the end of the war, soon rendering the whole project obsolete, when jets became more advanced. But in 1946, it could have been part of what-if Pacific operations....
- updates of latest version by SAS~Epervier added https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30610.0.html
   - fixed texture for altimeter by Greybeard
   - new wheels by PA_Jeronimo
   - new flight model by Greybeard that fixes sudden engine overheating and damage by overrevving
   - cartridge case bumping ports added to default skins and hooks for those fixed by SAS~Epervier
Known issues:
- Me 209 still has reversed naming of left and right gear files and hier.him nodes, but at least everything seems to work fine now.
- Ju 188 3D update fixes some major texture mapping issues, so old skins don't completely fit but aren't a lot more buggy than before with bad mapping either. Hopefully some new shins appear for fixed mapping that look as nice as new default skin in 101tfs update.
- Engine of CAC Boomerang can't be damaged although hitboxes seem to be fine in 3D files. Classfile should be checked next for possible bug there that disables engine damage.
- Tail and wingtips of G10N1 can get hidden behind background in plane selection window after this fix, but likely that's less annoying than plane not fitting into window at all and ability to see inside plane in external view.
++ SPECIAL FEATURE ++
Aerial Target by mace!
This target works like a regular glider and can be paired with any capable aircraft such as C-47, Li-2, Pe-8, Bf-110C4, Bf-110G2, He-111Z, He-111H2, He-111H6. In BAT you can also use the Lysander TT, TBD-1 Vindicator, A-25 Shrike, Ki-46 Recce and the Caproni 210!
The cable length can be set to various distances: 100, 500, 1000 and 1500 m by loadout choice of the target. It will prompt a nice HUD message when you have hit the target.
Don't forget to set the towing aircraft to "empty" and a low fuel load, then you can set the target banner to enemy color and up you go for target practice. Included are two sample missions by mace, found under single (WAW)-> US , where you can see how a mission can be set up.
New PMB Mariner cockpit from Asura!
The Radar-equipped versions will have a little Radar screen on the dashboard, however it is just cosmetics, not functional. Still, a nice immersive touch.
Additional Horse drawn columns by cbradbury:
WW2 may be often depicted by the propaganda shots of moving Panzers. However, horses still played a big, if not the major part in moving material. Populate your missions with more horse columns now.
*) There is no working reticle at the moment. The F-106 never even was equipped with one.
But to aim a gun you can move your head left or right (key assignment) to look past the central strut and aim the tracers. It works quite well actually. An original cockpit is under works for the future.
BATMODS - JSGME options
Big changes are happening here! A clean sweep.
Over the last years, several mods in this list have become incompatible to some degree to the master B.A.T. game, as it has evolved. This is causing bug reports which can't really be solved because the expectation is naturally that these mods would work without any hitch. As it is simply impossible for us to constantly service each and every 3rd party mod  that has at one time been released into BATMODS, we are going the radical way and remove everything that is outdated, incompatible or otherwise dubious to us.
Some mods have updated iterations on SAS and you are of course free to pursue and use these, just not under the assumption that B.A.T. team is servicing them for you.
Some are just plain outdated and useless as they have been integrated into the main B.A.T. by now.
here's a list of what is deleted from BATMODS with this installer:
Code: [Select]
#BAT_00-FOV Mod
#DOF_00-PALsVisualMOD9-v4122
#DOF_00_PAL-ChocksMOD
#WAW_ALT TORP LOAD
#WAW_ALT TYPHOONS
#WAW_ALT-D1A as He50
#WAW_ALT-RELEASE ARM
+ If you want to keep any of those for personal use, you must rename them before running the installer!  No further service will be provided +
Wonderful as always but I was surprised to see this pack named Pegasus and not including the Horsa and Hamilcar gliders.  How much longer must the Orne River bridges continue to be taken and held by fake skinned Russian gliders?
this is...     just    .....
truly
glorious.
holy fug
it never ceases to amaze me how a 20 year old game has managed to undergo this much change, this many updates, and still have this much dedication, not by its original developers, not by another separate company, but by a modding team.
Fantastic work, keep it up lads!
It's just Lend/Lease the other way around.
  Well that explains why I can't seem to get rid of the smell of Borsch no matter how many windows I open.
What a great update!
I've been missing infantry units since DBW  8)
And installs and works like a charm, as always.
Thank you, guys!
