Remove CLICK! from menu buttons?
« on: October 11, 2019, 09:30:28 PM »

Anyone know which sound effect is responsible for the loud CLICK sound when pressing stuff in the menu?  I have searched my folders but cannot find anything labeled 'menu' or 'key' and that loud clicking sound is driving me nuts.  In other games with a menu click I just go in and add OFF to the item and that gets rid of it, but darned if I can find it in any version of IL2.

In vpmodpack its easy because everything is accessible by default, just overwrite these samples

#SAS\#00__1JiverSOUNDS_4.12\Samples\key_01.wav
#SAS\#00__1JiverSOUNDS_4.12\Samples\key_02.wav
#SAS\#00__1JiverSOUNDS_4.12\Samples\key_03.wav
#SAS\#00__1JiverSOUNDS_4.12\Samples\key_04.wav

with this one

#SAS\#00__0Sounds_flak\Samples\air_clock_00.wav

and its gonna turn off the menu button clicks. Takes 5 seconds to do.

Air_clock_00.wav is a sample attached to the 109 cockpits, its a clock ticking sound which had a stock bug (high pitched noise in the background) so it had to be muted. Hence its suitable to replace your loud button clicks. But you can use any wav you can find, there's probably dozens of sites with gui sound samples for free.

In other modpacks you have to create a folder (MODS\ButtonSOUNDS\Samples\) and you have to find a replacement wav online.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

***At first I just tried renaming them key_01 OFF but that didn't work, but copying the clock and renaming did.  Cheers.***
