In flight commands to your wing
« on: October 10, 2019, 03:30:11 AM »

There are some very good commands that can be given to a wing when in action.

However try as i might, I cannot find any that give commands like 'land now' or 'drop ordnance now' ...

For instance, when hit I will try landing and often enough wingmen will be following me and then, rather stupidly, crash into the ground. It seems this could be avoided by having a 'land now' command ...

Is there any such mod available perhaps?

"return to base" BEFORE you try to land.

Hmmm ... does 'return to base' mean return to a home base (if one has one) or would it mean return and land at the nearest airfield?

AFAIK return to home base. It can be used also in the case you have lost the orientation, AI will lead you there.
There is not any command to say land at the nearest airfield, IMHO.

This thread (and my rough notes on mediafire) may help a bit:

Return to base command means all AI go to their landing waypoint.

Return to base command means all AI go to their landing waypoint.

That is what I thought. But in most of my missions, I don't assign a landing point. I was just thinking of emergencies, say when I spring a fuel leak or need to make an emergency landing because on fire, or whatever. When i start landing, wingmen will often follow me and crash into the ground. I was just hoping there was some way to have them follow me and also attempt a landing where I am trying to land, even if it were only an open field ...

Try commanding your wingmen to engage targets at will. They will generally go off and do their own thing while you make your emergency landing.
