All you need to do is generate + download what's available and then connect the files with a single campaign.ini. Then you got a scripted JG54 campaign which can span the whole war. I can tell you how and what to do if you're willing to do a little work with a text editor and the fmb. It would way more easier, than starting from scratch in Lowengrings DCG. The downside is that a scripted campaign is always the same, hence has less replay value compared to autogenerated campaigns.
Aye, that's the issue with me though. I'm just not into scripted campaigns, because I know everything that's going to happen.
I tend to like the idea of
not meeting the enemy every single mission I play. So, my DGen campaigns that I've altered to ops file for reflect that. For instance, below is just the "Freehunt" section of my modified ops41-N.dat, that I use in my games.

As you can see, it's greatly expanded from the original and on a number of occasions, my flight will meet no enemy (0F). Thus, it makes encounters a complete unknown quantity and therefore missions are more exciting. I could fly 4 or 5 missions in a row and meet no one. Then on the 6th be overwhelmed by the VVS.
With a scripted campaign, that cannot happen.
Of course, a lot of folk would find that tedious, I know. But, I like it better, as it reflects the reality more. Most aerial ops don't intercept the enemy.
In any case, I am playing a modded IL21946 at the moment, 4.13.4 using the DGenMod 2.1 mod, (
http://forum.aviaskins.com/showthread.php?t=4386 ). It has a great western front campaign (see the campaignsDE26.dat file below), going from the phony war to just before Barbarossa. There's an excellent map of France and of the Channel coast. It uses Asura's modded DGen, so it can access the new maps.

The sounds keep disappearing or are too low to hear (like the gun sounds) and the AI acts in a very strange manner. For instance, my flight can
never keep up with me, even when I am fly at 60% throttle. And if I hit autopilot, my plane won't stay with my flight leader. I've never seen anything like it in any version of IL2.
Aviaskins is a Russian site and I haven't a clue what they're saying over there and Google translate is only of so much use, so I don't think there's any point in joining and asking questions about the mod.
I suppose it comes down to this...if a version of DGen that uses Asura's DGen mod can access these great new maps, like the Channel Coast, then surely it's possible to make a grand DGen campaign where the player starts off in May 1940 in the west and transfers to the stock Russian Front maps in June 1941?
Unfortunately, I'm just not up to scratch in my understanding of these mods to make it happen myself. Yet...anyway.
