Engine Sound Volume in Preset
« on: May 19, 2019, 01:17:39 PM »

Dear friends,

I would like to ask how to edit and adjust the engine sound in Preset file.
Foe example I have motor.BMW_800_Series and motor.BMW801D-2_165 with same sounds and figures. spl are set same for both of them as 110. But the sounding of the second version of engine is much louder. Changing spl to 120 of the first one and 90 for the second one in order somehow to equalize the sound volume gave nothing. Is there any other setting to adjust the sound volume?

spl ("sound pressure level") is exectly the right setting if you want to change the overall sound level of a single preset file.
What happens sometimes is either or both of these:
  • The underlying wav file's sound level isn't normalized, which gives you different sound levels even if spl is the same.
  • Your speakers give different sound levels for different main frequencies. Happened to me with earphones in the past.

Thank you very much for your reply!

In this case what means "normalized sound"? Probably I can manage to do smth with it. Or there is a special tool for sound normalization for Il-2?
Am I right when say the difference in frequency when one is 352 kbit/sec and the other one is 705 kbit/sec?

Sorry for disturbing you  :)

Dear friends,
Please help
What does this line
EAXMix       0.95
or
EAXMix       0
is intended for in preset? What effect does it have?

And what can be done to make the sound not disappear when turning head to the left or to the right inside the cockpit? Turning step 1 is OK, 2 - no sound, 3 - OK. Can it be rectified in preset?
