Keeping up in Japanese planes
« on: April 22, 2019, 07:49:37 PM »

I really want to fly these beautiful planes but I just cannot keep up with the AI (my wingmen) in any of them really. They are painfully slow. I overheat before even getting close. Maybe I cannot use CEM when flying Japanese campaigns? I really don't want to have to resort to that.

I am trimmed, clean, and just at the verge of overheating, I can't think of anything else I could do.

As per this thread, Overheat should be turned off. https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=61062.0

I am still learning. I disabled overheat and CEM.  Having much more fun.

Up to you.

Just feel like it's cheating to disable that stuff, I enjoy managing the engines, adds more difficulty. If you disable it you just run 100% throttle and 100% pitch 24/7 and never touch the rads?

I want to add that the japanese planes in BAT seem to be a lot better. They actually accelerate and can fly at a decent speed. VP has all the stock FM's I believe, another reason I love BAT and wish it had all the dgen campaigns VP has.

Unfortunately, Overheat in Il-2 is bugged to the point where it's objectively better to leave it off. Dunno when this will be fixed, but keep an eye out.
