Hello everybody ! ...and Thanks God it's friday ;D ;D

This is a re-post of a batch of screenshots previously and wrongly posted in the "New memers safety area" where it didn't quite belong, sorry, believe it should be more apropriate to drop this in here, so here it is   :)

Below is a our map - named Green Hell - ranging from Port-Moresby to Rabaul or Madang to Milne Bay, even further to Woodlark or Samarai Island (for Catalina lovers), for those of you who likes long flights, it takes around 3 hours + to fly between two opposite corners of the map  ;D

Now a few screenshots :

Escaping Milne Bay back to New Britain

A few A5M4 were shortly based in Gasmata, New Britain

Cape Gloucester, New Britain

Flirting with clouds in the vicinity of Port-Moresby

B-17F bombing Buna, old and new airfields.

Wrecking havoc over Lae

Bons baisers de Salamaua

Across New Guinea, showing the Gulf of Papua in the background

Oscar over Lae area

Airacobra flying along moutain passes and closing lake Wanum down in the Markham valley

Hope you like it, don't hesitate to tell us anything that comes to mind as to improve our work, more pics to come soon showing Rabaul, Milne Bay as well as Port-Mordesby airfields complex.

Thanks  :)

thanks all, the map should be released in april, still in the process of improving textures and airfields.
Bellow is a bit of the Milne Bay area :

The airfield complex, on the foreground, Turnbull, just behind on the left is Gurney, then far away Waigani can hardly be guessed

Turnbull airfield

Gurney airfield

Waigani
also called airstrip 2, never completed by the allies and soon left abandonned. This strip ended up solely used for emergency landings, and there were many..!

The entire bay of Milne Bay can be seen at far.

This Piper L5 is circling the strip on a search and rescue party, just after a mission damaged B-17E that couldn't make either Gurney or Turnbull, had been reported safely bellylanded there.

That Fortress crew is soon to enjoy some warm beer in the mess at Gurney  :P

Thanks for watching, new screens should come up soon again  :)

Very, very nice looking map.  I like the the boundaries of the map which include Port Moresby, Milne Bay, Madang, and Rabaul.  These places, to me, are most essential for a New Guinea map.  I just might have to transfer my B-26 campaign from the stock NBNG map to this map!

Hello Tokyo Rose.
I'm curious to know how you got the idea to think about making this map and its bases? Really curious.

Hi Cricri, no worries, it's not the first map on New Guinea as a few talented mappers have led the way with inspiring releases !
I guess we must be kinda fascinated by this theater of operation, were daydreaming of a map allowing missions within the triangle Port Moresby / Rabaul / Milne Bay and... that got us into that mess  ;D

The bases, if you mean the airfields, are those that were used from 1942 through mid 1943, we wanted to show them all with the most accurate possible look and atmosphere.

Counting about twenty of them so far and we'll post a few screenshots as we are finetuning the details.

Hello again, below a few pics of two small but historicaly major airstrips of New Guinea :

- Wau, elevation 3450Ft and surrounded by moutains, not an easy approach to land as many C-47s drivers found out the hard way ! Due to mountains, this was a "one-way" strip and basicaly once you were lined up and close enough, you were comitted to land with no provision for a missed approach.

- Kokoda, focal strip along the famous Kokoda trail, alternatively taken by the Japs and the allies.

Wau

Kokoda

This map looks great thus far … well done !!!  :)

What version of the sim will this map be compatible with? HSFX, 4.12.2 w/SAS Modact 5.30, BAT or all?
